Absolutely stunning meal ! If you want authentic Spanish tapas get yourself to thirty eight all staff members were very polite and explained every dish in front of you on how it was made . Top marks to the chef 👌 try the meatballs they are outrageous!! Five star !

Tapas deliciosas y excelentes bebidas: el personal fue muy amable y respondió a todas nuestras preguntas sobre la comida disponible. Nos han recomendado platos fantásticos que hemos disfrutado mucho. Precios razonables y muchos asientos para elegir (sería bueno tener algunos calentadores al aire libre ya que hace bastante frío por la noche).

Nuestro primer viaje a Thirty Eight ciertamente no será el último. El personal era encantador y eficiente sin entrometerse en el almuerzo de nuestras damas. Delicioso cava para beber, pedimos cinco platos, todos deliciosos y los mini pasteles de bacalao, ¡divinos! Compartimos los churros recién hechos (aunque creo que en secreto podríamos haberlos comido todos) e incluso el café estaba delicioso. Valor asombroso. Totalmente sin pretensiones y definitivamente tiene la sustancia para combinar con el estilo.

Muy buenas tapas en un gran entorno. No habíamos estado en 38 desde que cambió de manos hace un tiempo. Nos sentamos afuera con otra pareja y pedimos olas de tapas. ¡Cada uno un ganador! Las Patatas Bravas pueden ser muy decepcionantes, así que me sorprendieron los trozos de papa calientes, crujientes y deliciosos. Vale la pena volver solo por eso. Sin embargo, desearía que adoptaran una escala móvil de precios. Con cuatro de nosotros, con mucho gusto hubiéramos pagado más por uno de cada uno de los platos que venían con 3 piezas. . . un poco tonto. ¡Divinos churros frescos también!

Este nuevo restaurante de tapas en Summertown, en las mismas instalaciones que el antiguo Oxford Wine Cafe, es un verdadero hallazgo. Nos encantan nuestras tapas y somos fieles seguidores tanto de Kazbar en Cowley Road como de El Andalus en Little Clarendon Street, pero bocado por bocado, este recién llegado los pica a ambos. El chef es murciano, y todos los platos que probamos, desde el pulpo a la gallega hasta el chorizo cocido al vino tinto, fueron de primera. Todo regado con una botella de fino en un bonito patio. Qué; no me gustaLos precios eran razonables, el personal era amable y conocedor, y se siguieron al pie de la letra las normas de Covid. ¡Estaremos de vuelta!

Mi pareja y yo disfrutamos de una visita a El Rincn el fin de semana pasado por segunda vez.El restaurante ofrece un delicioso menú de tapas para deleitar sus ojos.Entre los dos compartimos algunas de sus tapas clásicas - croquetas, pulpo, bravas y calamares con algún otro especial como Gambas envueltas en Berenjena con Miel, todas muy ricas.No tuvimos que esperar mucho para que nos sirvieran la comida, que estaba absolutamente deliciosa y los platos son de tamaño estándar para tapas.Todo el personal fue muy servicial y nos llevó a una tarde realmente agradable.Puedo recomendar encarecidamente el pulpo, ¡delicioso!Volveremos pronto estoy seguro

Éramos una mesa de ocho y probamos muchos platos diferentes, todos excelentes. Teníamos patatas bravas, chorizo al vino, gambas al ajillo, paella vegana, paella de pollo, paella de marisco, gambas rapeadas en berenjenas. La calidad fue muy buena.Los postres son fabulosos, principalmente las trufas y el brownie.Sin duda volveremos.Muy buena relación calidad-precio y no es caro.

Restaurante fantástico! Viajamos desde el sur de Gales y decidimos reservar este restaurante porque llegábamos tarde en la noche y solo queríamos algo de comer con algunas bebidas. El menú de tapas era excelente, sin embargo, después de un viernes ajetreado, el menú era limitado. Esto nos permitió pedir platos que normalmente no pediríamos, lo que nos dejó gratamente sorprendidos. La calidad de la comida fue excelente y abrió nuestros sentidos para probar cosas diferentes. La señora que nos sirvió nos explicó cada plato y nos dijo que la región de España era de lo que era un toque encantador. Recomiendo encarecidamente este restaurante!

La paella para llevar no era comestible debido a cientos de trozos pequeños (imposibles de sacar) de conchas de mejillón. If you’re looking for the best coffee around- head here. I can be a bit particular with coffee yet I have never had a bad coffee in the 20+ trips I’ve made here over the past 2 years.

Tuve un delicioso almuerzo aquí con mi madre y mi hermana. Nos sentamos en el amplio y luminoso invernadero de la parte trasera, las mesas están bastante separadas para que no estés encima de tus vecinos. Gran selección de platos pequeños de Oriente Medio: teníamos una selección para compartir y todo fue fantástico. A un precio razonable también. Buena variedad de vino por copa. También agradable para un café y pastelería en la mañana. Ambiente encantador, sin duda volveremos.

Siempre un favorito en South Parade, el último cambio en el menú trae a un experimentado chef sirio que prepara platos pequeños y frescos todos los días con estilo y amor; kibbe, falafel, fattoush, mujaddara y muchos otros. Excelentes opciones vegetarianas y veganas. Excelentes vinos por copa de la galardonada compañía de vinos de Oxford. Personal encantador como siempre. ¡El mojo del café ha vuelto!

Nos detuvimos aquí para una comida de la tarde (antes del teatro) ayer. ¡Guau, la comida era fabulosa! Qué chef tan encantador e increíble: salió a conocernos y nos explicó su comida siria. Todo muy muy sabroso, increíblemente presentado, maravillosamente fresco y a un precio muy razonable. gracias también a la señora que nos sirvió y nos ayudó a elegir del menú, y nos hizo sentir muy bienvenidos. ¡Muy recomendable!

Having been visiting, and spending money in, thirtyeight once a week for 6 months we were shocked today to be effectively thrown out by a male member of staff who we think is the chef.We have been going every Tuesday at around 11.30 after a baby class, in a small group of mums and babies, giving our babies (about 1yo) lunch and having coffee and cake. We spend around £30 and rarely stay more than an hour. The way we were spoken to today, you’d think we had been letting our children draw on the walls, throw food and terrorise other customers. As it is we have always been extremely careful to pick up after ourselves, even today prior to this angry explosion, getting on our hands and knees to wipe up any dropped lunch under the high chairs. The most mess we leave is a couple of saucers worth of rubbish to go straight in the bin. The children are generally in high chairs (or on laps given that there are only 2 high chairs) eating their lunch; which we bring with us, don’t use any crockery or cutlery and take away again. They play a little on the floor as we pack up, but we keep them contained as best we can. As aforementioned, we’re rarely there for as much as an hour. We are a group of professional women; we know that our babies make noise and that this might not be ideal. However, no other comment has been made in 6 months; we have never been asked to be quieter or had any other inclination that there was a problem. Why couldn’t you come and have a respectful, courteous conversation with us? A polite request to take our rubbish away, or come at a slightly different time, or be finished before the ‘lunch rush’ would have been met with understanding and compromise. However instead we were made to feel extremely uncomfortable and unwelcome. This man was practically shouting, accused us of driving away other customers (what other customers?), being unfair on the staff (what? By using coffee cups and leaving some satsuma peel?) and that ‘this is not a crèche’ (it goes without saying that we have never once left any children unattended or asked staff to watch them!). Not only that but when we tried to respond politely he talked over us and wouldn’t allow us to. I would love to see the business plan that demonstrates that on other weekdays there is a rush of lunch customers at 11.30am who, today, didn’t want to eat either near our babies, outside on the empty tables or even on the empty tables on the first floor (how many customers do you think we can put off?). However I suspect this is sadly a demonstration of misogyny - I highly doubt that this man would have spoken to a group of fathers and babies in this way. Clearly the chef feels that business is doing so well on a Tuesday morning that they don’t need our money - well mission accomplished as we certainly won’t be back. Many of us are local and so that is a good selection of people who will now not be visiting even when they are without babies and would have come for dinner or cocktails, and who will ensure that none of the other parents we know (newsflash, it’s a lot) do either. In short, avoid this place if you know, have, or expect to have, children, or feel like all people (even *gasp* mothers) deserve to be spoken to with respect.

A small group of mums and our little ones have been meeting here for the past couple of months, once sometimes twice a week. Usually the staff are delightful, coffee and freshly squeezed OJ delicious, cakes and brownies too. Today, despite being regular customers, we were spoken to in a manner that I'm afraid means none of us are likely to be returning. The member of staff in question was plain rude to us, implying that we were an inconvenience and to stop using the place like a creche.

We came across this place by chance and received some lovely service by friendly staff. Good food and nice wine too. All very enjoyable and if we are ever in the area again I would definitely go back.

I ate lunch here in June 2019, and really enjoyed my meal even though I had only once course, plus coffee. I chose the Korean chicken burger, and it was really nice - an imaginative idea, the burger being cooked very well, and definitely tasty. Service was good, too, and the place itself, in the poshest part of North Oxford, is lovely, so no complaints at all. The bill came to £17.20, which was fine.

Probably the best coffee I have ever had. I always try and stop off here before I attend a meeting and I have never been disappointed.

Man serving at bar in the morning was maybe hungover, or maybe just disinterested. Or maybe just rude. Shame about that, as should be a delightful place, given venue and menu.

Visited for a few drinks after eating at Pompette just over the road. The Staff were nice and friendly and the wine list was great. We shall certainly return and next time try out the food.

We booked this restaurant as it was walking distance from out b&b; and we were not disappointed. The cocktails are carefully crafted and the food prepared with great care and very well proportioned. The salt and pepper squid was delicious as was the salted caramel ice cream. The staff were very knowledgeable when it came to the drinks and made us feel very welcome. We will certainly return the next time we are in Oxford. Thanks guys you were great!

We were early for dinner in a local restaurant, so we thought we would call in here for a pre-dinner aperitif. We had 20 mins before our reservation. The service at thirtyeight was appalling: 15 mins to take our order; served three other customers (and a dog) who came in after us; 10 minutes after ordering they realised that they didn’t have the ingredients for the cocktails we ordered. Truly a shambles. We simply left, thirsty, never to return.

Having had the Christmas lunch menu emailed to me, we did expect it to be available - unfortunately it was only when we arrived we were told the Christmas menu had to be prebooked. The main menu arrived - it is very limited - nice but limited. We were offered a glass of fizz each by way of compensation for no Christmas menu.

I had a fantastic time here. I had the lasagne special and it was so delicious, the atmosphere was lovely and my friends and I had some brilliant cocktails and amazing wine. The service was great, we had a sweet waitress called Emma who was lovely and made sure we had a great time. Will definitely return.

Thirty Eight has become a regular venue for us - fabulous wine list, great cocktails and really imaginative and delicious food. Love the flexibility of the menu - ideal for a few sharing something to eat with a glass but also good for a blow out meal. Staff are knowledgeable and helpful - get there while you can grab a table!

We only nipped in for a bottle of wine, but the food smelt incredible, the atmosphere was really pleasant and The Gentleman behind the bar couldn’t have been more helpful, so we decided to have food (we had the crab burger and braised beef, both were delicious!). We stayed there for the duration of the evening and had a fab time. To end the night we had personalised cocktails! Would highly recommend.

My boyfriend surprised me with a cheeky Tuesday evening meal at Thirty Eight. We were sat at the bar and looked after by a kind and extremely knowledgeable bartender. The wine, food and cocktails are all a cut above anything Summertown has going for it right now.

I am a total cocktail snob. I relocated here from NYC 8 years ago and have been thirsty for a proper drink ever since. You will find subtle flavours perfectly blended and nothing is impossible. My Favourite drink, a Paddington didn't make my barman, Simon bat an eyelash. Using locally sourced marmalade, he served up the pride of PDT (voted best cocktail makers in the world several years running based on the lower East Side) and I can tell you, it was better at Thirtyeight.... Almost dangerously so as this is my local. The food is delicious and there wine list is robust and accessible.

I came here with a friend for brunch. He opted for salmon and scrambled eggs, I opted for smashed avocado with a poached egg.

We used to love this place when it was a wine bar and came frequently. The restaurant is a nice addition to the restaurant scene in Summertown. The whole inside has been renovated. The kitchen is much better than it was previously. We had some nice dishes although it felt like some of them were over thought. Simplifying the dishes slightly would have left them just as tasty. The cocktail menu hadn’t been established when we went. We had a couple of nice cocktails however including a pineapple daiquiri and a mohitio. The overall experience was good although probably slightly it too expensive to allow us to come very frequently.

The food was very good; the decor and ambience very pleasant. It was a quiet evening but I suspect that even on a busy night it would not be uncomfortably noisy as the tables were well spaced. There was no vegan option on the menu- this would make it difficult to visit with some of our friends, so it would be great if this could be added to the menu.

Wedding anniversary treat, let's have brunch. Food and decor was good, except for coffee that was too harsh, maybe Ethiopian, and for brunch we should have refills, right? Between finishing coffee (one of us) and food was too long a wait. We were about to leave...

Just finished my lunch with my mother here. We happened to walk past after a quick shopping trip to Vanilla. We hadn’t been to this site since Thirtyeight took over from the summertown wine cafe but I’m glad we finally have!

My friend was raving about this place and I had to try it, I was not disappointed. What an absolute gem!!!! The food was amazing, service was efficient, staff are friendly and courteous and Thirtyeight is tastefully decorated with a wonderful atmosphere. I had a great evening here and I will definitely return ...a real treat!!!

We’d been here previously when it was the Oxford Wine Cafe. It was good then and now it’s amazing! The chef delivered the best starters we’ve ever experienced in Oxford. The wine choose are on point and the manager, Callum, knows what he’s doing.

Came in on saturday night and wasnt originally planning to eat, however after looking at the dinner menu we can get our minds. We had a selection of starters and sat out in the garden. The charcuterie board and the prawns were my favourites.

I explained I had coeliac disease on arrival and therefore could not eat gluten. I was told the chef could alter almost any dish and had gluten free bread which was reassuring.

I came in on Friday night being my first time in oxford. This is a hidden gem. The staff are welcoming, friendly and very attentive.
