They will tell you it is 241 but charge you full price. When you challenge it they will tell you you are in the wrong and ignore you (the pale girl with dark hair with the attitude who pretends she is the boss). All in all extremely rude & disgraceful service. I wouldn’t come back if I was payed, they are horrendous. Worse customer service ever (the manager couldn’t even be arsed to come speak to us). AVOID!!!!!

Saturday afternoon/evening. Fantastic DJ, best we’ve heard for a long time. Lots of early noughties tunes. The staff are friendly enough, door staff even helping out and smiling saying hello. Only feedback is to clean tables regularly.

Been a few times but on this occasion the music was not the greatest. Service was okay but the server was more interested in speaking to his colleague or friend that was leaving. be carful with the happy hour offer as the small print says does not include tonic, and by if you check the prices that are not greatly lower than other places bearby

Gaurav is an expectational bartender and host at this retro cocktail bar, with the Victorian marble themed atmosphere, it is one where an individual can get lost from their worries for work, and business, to deliver into a another world, where soul meets the ambiance beyond time. I highly recommend this bar, not just for the posh ambiance, but a service that’s personal and creative!

Been here so many years and it's been amazing but the bar staff tonight are rude and gave awful service after we took a drink back due to the beer being flat.

I went on a Saturday early evening, on the very top floor (get the lift) the music was a mix of uk garage and early 2000 classics that just kept coming. Great place for a pre dinner drink.

I visited Theatrix for the second time recently and will not be returning in a hurry. We sat upstairs on a Saturday afternoon with some friends as our first stop in town. My partner ordered a Guinness which was given to us with the head taking up about 1/3 of the glass, I took it back to ask the bar person to top it up which seemed to be an inconvenience to her. I had vodka and soda which was great. The reason we will not be returning is that my partner was in the men’s toilets and saw a member of staff use the facilities and leave without washing his hands, only to go back to the bar. Bizzare behaviour in front of customers and obviously not in line with expectations.

Absolutamente horrible servicio al cliente Necesitaba reservar una mesa para bebidas y comida para un equipo corporativo de bebidas, me dijeron que era un gran problema. Cuando llamé para reservar comida una semana antes me dijeron que ya no están haciendo comida. Dijeron que proporcionarían catering externo, pero no me enviaron ningún detalle a pesar de la persecución. No confíes en ellos, no responden a los correos electrónicos y rara vez contestan el teléfono.

Éramos un grupo de 8 amigos que se alojan en Birmingham para celebrar un cumpleaños 50 de amigos, nuestra intención era hacer un poco de pub crawl. Vinimos a este lugar para una copa rápida y nos dirigimos a la terraza de la azotea donde tenían un DJ tocando. Es seguro decir que ahí es donde terminó nuestro pub crawl planeado, el ambiente y la música nos tuvieron bailando y terminamos quedándonos TODA la noche. Tuvimos un gran tiempo, la música nos llevó de nuevo a cómo eran los bares / discotecas en los años 90. Todos salimos del hotel a la mañana siguiente con los pies doloridos, las caderas y la espalda después de pensar que todavía podíamos ir de fiesta como lo hicimos en nuestros 20 's. Sin duda volveremos la próxima vez que visitemos Birmingham, pero puede que tenga que hacer nuestro rastreo del pub antes de entrar 😂

Lovely roof top bar, good atmosphere and good service

Otra mala crítica para unirse a los muchos en este foro. Visité este bar en agosto solo para ser servido con una pinta que sabía a jabón. Ok, sucede de vez en cuando cuando cuando el personal no enjuaga los vasos correctamente o apila el lavavajillas correctamente. Sin embargo, habiendo tomado solo 1 sorbo pedí que se reemplazara la cerveza en ruinas. Se negaron a decir que no era política de la compañía. A estos precios esperas una pinta decente o al menos que el servidor la reemplace sin duda. Terrible cerveza y servicio, evita este lugar si puedes. Parece que tampoco soy el único que siente que este establecimiento está mal dirigido.

El bar de la azotea de arriba es muy bueno y ruidoso, sin embargo, el bar de cócteles es tan inconsistente. Pedí un cóctel muy agradable, así que pedí 2 más, omg la diferencia fue terrible, no estoy discutiendo el contenido de alcohol, pero sabían completamente diferente al segundo, así que abrumador con jugo de limón y refresco, no pudimos beberlos, te llamó la atención. Cuando lo devolví me encontré con el peor servicio al cliente y me dijeron que no podían hacer otro porque la caja no coincidirá con el stock! Tuve que esperar 20 minutos para que pudieran reproducir el CCTV para ver a la persona del bar, para ver si estaba diciendo la verdad. ¡Nunca había escuchado nada tan ridículo! Luego fui acusado por el gerente de gritar y ser agresivo con su personal. Todo lo que pedí fue una resolución rápida ya que debíamos ir al teatro. Honestamente fue como el VAR! el resultado fue que se hizo correctamente y el primero se hizo mal. Me mantuve firme y tuve un reembolso, lástima que es un gran lugar.

Great bar great location. Visited during a down pour as happened to be passing but returned later in the evening for cocktails and a dance. Thanks to all the staff for making the night so much fun

Arrived at bar on a Sunday after England cricket match 7.05pm...response was "we are closing"...7.05pm!..thousands walking about...no wonder these businesses go bust!..and to be honest,deserve to!

Paramos solo para tomar una copa por la tarde y nos sentamos en la terraza de la azotea. El lugar es muy atractivo por dentro, la decoración es hermosa. Disfrutamos de una copa y nos habríamos quedado más tiempo si hubiéramos tenido más tiempo. Fue decepcionante leer realmente las críticas más negativas aquí, espero que la dirección tome en cuenta los comentarios.

Popped in for a few drinks after work and found myself apologising after ordering the second round of drinks as I felt like they were talking under their breath about me and wanted me and my friends to leave as we were there only people in there. Very awkward , I’d pay for my drinks and they would leave it on the end of the bar like it was Starbucks and most of the times I didn’t even know my drink was ready or where it was. Bar staff were EXTREMELY rude

The sun bounces off the outside sitting area 👌🏻 Great little hotspot that's a bit different to most bars in that area.

My wife and I popped in about 10pm and ordered a beer and a cocktail, we had been in about 7pm on the way to a concert and the drinks were good 👍. My wife's cocktail was only half measure and fell well short of what is normally served and complained only to have door security called on her to try and force her to pay which she was having non of then taken to one side by the manager who told her she would have to pay, which she refused. We are both over 50 not drunk in any way and never touched the cocktail. We paid for the beer and left to the bar next door who were lovely. I can not believe my wife had security called on her and a manager would also be so rude to a lady. Be warned the staff need re training, such a shame as lovely place . Shame on you Theatrix.

Came here for the Soul Society Birmingham Bank Holiday. Got here around 10.30, it looked quite a spacious place. Went to have a walk round. This venue has three floors, ground, first and second. Settled on the first floor, reggae was playing, very nice sweet music. Had to go toilet which was on the second floor. Toilet was small, had to squeeze passed someone using the urinal, then had to wash my hands. The warm air hand dyer was so high up, I felt like Oliver asking for more. As I went back to the second floor had to wait on the stairs while people were coming out of the reggae room and people were coming up the stairs, the venue is too small. Around 12am went to the ground floor. Just to go outside was a struggle it was very tight. Just glad there was not a fire. The route from the main exit to the stairs was crowded. They played Candy, that was a joke. Nice music venue TOO SMALL

I came in and it was a sunny day and I asked if I can go to the roof top bar and they said it wasn't open and moments later I saw people coming out of the lift talking about how nice the views were from upstairs, literally won't come here again.

Went out with work for drinks. The place seemed nice and the waiting staff was great. The food let the place down. Ordered a sharing kebab platter (picture attached). There was not enough food on there for 1 person let alone the 2 of us. Apparently there has been complaints about the food portions before but the kitchen has chosen not to do anything about it. We did complain and we were given a portion of chips (nice but again very small portion) and a naan which was rock hard. On a positive note they have a good selection of drinks and the cocktails were very nice.

Booked a table for 12 for drinks Saturday just gone, we were seated exactly where I wanted us to be and were well looked after by the bar team. Thanks for taking care of us and getting back to me about my booking so quickly!

Having walked past this place so many times and being out of touch with the current scene, I was suprised when my friends asked me to meet them here. Nice atmosphere when we came in and there are seating areas available. Didn't have food as it wasn't served after 7pm on Saturdays. We went up the many stairs to the rooftop bar and the mood was very lively. DJ, music and a mixed age range of people all enjoying themselves. It must have been good because my friends normally bar hop and we stayed all night. There are not a lot of places to go for older folk in Brum that doesn't involve cheesy music so it made a good change to hear some house classics

Nice lively nightspot with good music and great cocktails

Theatrix is one of the more decent bars to go on a Saturday evening at the moment in town as its not full of kids like most places its more of an older clientele, its the first bar we always go to on on a night out. Drinks are good my partner always says they serve a nice drink. Door staff are great too. The top floor is great, the middle floor was open xmas which is also a great room.

We just popped in for a couple of drinks but ended up staying a couple of hours. Lovely place, a great atmosphere. Staff really friendly.

Stopped off here for a spot of lunch. Lovely decor inside. Friendly staff. Could do with a bit more choice on the menu, but it was nice, nevertheless. Lovely cocktails. Toilets are downstairs, which isn't great if you have mobility issues as the lift was not working 😕

Great place forna drinks and dance

We were offered expired a year ago biscuits with our Americano coffees, the coffee wasn't good quality either... Used to like this central city establishment but they don't seem to care about customer service won't be going back...

Went to an private event on the 1st floor , staff was very nice and friendly , bar people got our drinks fast, nice decor , band was good but perhaps privately sourced. Downstairs where the public go isn’t that nice.

Fantastic venue for an after work catch up, good beer selection, comfortable furniture, etc. There's also a second roof terrace bar that can be used in all weather courtesy of the corner folding glass doors and skylights.

Favourite bar to visit in Birmingham. Great atmosphere. The roof top terrace is great and they had a DJ playing from the afternoon.

I thought this was a nice place. Went with friends last night. Was having a great evening in the upstairs bar. Good music and fun nice clientele. My friend bought me a double vodka and coke which unlike the first one I had tasted like water. I took it back and the staff were rude and wouldn't replace it. The manager then turned up and said she'd looked at the camera and I was served a double, basically saying tough and I wouldn't get a replacement. I did buy another and took a picture of it next to the original. Completely different colour. I thought the customer service was shocking and as a city resident I will not be going back. Be careful what you order!

The bar staff on the bottom floor are unbelievably rude. First of all the girl serving, no smile, nothing when ordering drinks, she had an attitude on her all night for what reason? I normally go to the rooftop and have a good night, bar staff seem to be friendlier up there. Last night I brought 2 Proseccos, 2 baby Guiness I asked for a tray, the girl behind the bar gave me the tray. As soon as I turned to walk with the tray, a drunk lady knocked the drinks out of my hand. I turned to the bar staff, it was the manager he said you’ll have to get her to pay for your drinks. I’m sorry but that is ridiculous, she was drunk, she did it by accident, plus it would have been unnecessary confrontation that could have potentially led to an argument which I wanted to avoid, he was stand offish and insisted I had to pay again. I told the other girl who served me that I wanted to order again, straight away she was like I’m not getting involved in what you’ve discussed with him in a rude stand offish tone, I said I’m asking to order drinks again!?? In the end to be honest the bar tender manager did come over and gave two free shots, and he apologised. However the other girl did not. I’m writing this review because this is not the first time I’ve experienced rudeness from the bar staff on the bottom floor! I’m

Came here before a show and was very impressed. Drinks reasonable, plenty of seating and decent music playing. Decor also very nice and staff friendly. Good atmosphere. Will return.

Went for a quiet drink whole atmosphere was off. Bartender was rude when I approached the manager on duty Jodey about this she was even worse I am not sure how this lady is a venue manager as she has not the slightest clue about customer service. Ridiculous that a paying customer could receive such poor customer service from a place Will definitely not be coming back and I would only recommend this place if you enjoy receiving poor customer service!!! All the staff are so rude. Came for some drinks only to be given the worst customer service I have received in my life. I expressed my concerns to the manager Jodey and she was just as rude as her staff it is really bad that these individuals feel they can treat paying customers in this way! It would be a great venue if their staff knew how to engage with customers. I can not believe Jodey is a venue manager with such poor customer service skills.

Attempted to call multiple times to book a table , no response, no response to online booking query either Turned up anyway, had to wait for the roof terrace to be open as they had no staff , got grunted at by a very miserable server ,once they did open there was 1 poor girl serving drinks on her own in a packed bar... Wouldn't waste your time .

Unsatisfying service and poorly made cocktails. Booked a table for the roof terrace, 6 weeks in advance to be be told on arrival there has no booking and “we wasn’t going to open the terrace today”. Shame as in a good spot, with nice decor.

Absolutely shocking. I was here for a total of 15 minutes and I’ve never been treated so badly by an business in all of my life. I came here after a beautiful dinner at a nearby restaurant to enjoy an late afternoon cocktail….long story short the general manager (lady with red/brown hair) asked us “what do you want” when she took our order….she then took payment and then decided to do something else rather than pour our drinks. After two minutes of watching her faff about I asked her when the drinks were going to be ready and she just looked at me and walked off. The operations manager of the group, then intervened and was just as rude. He ended up saying something very derogatory towards me In front of my friend, the staff and the rest of the paying public at the bar….I will never give my money to this bar again or any businesses associated with it and I actively discourage anyone I know to avoid this place like the plague. Such a shame as it’s in a good location but judging by the rest of the reviews it probably won’t be around for long

Saturday at 6pm, banging tunes, which isn't necessarily a problem, but when it's too loud to hear the person opposite you, not great. The rooftop bar isn't really that open, but there's people smoking up there so fills the the rest of the roof. Good drinks and service, ruined by smoke and noise

I ordered 2 espresso martinis, as soon as they were poured I said they did not look good. The staff basically did not know what to say. They offered to strain the cocktail and re-shake, totally missing the fact that the drink was just vodka and coffee, it wasn’t just the way they looked (see photo) they tasted disgusting, undrinkable. The manager was called up, she came with a door man, waved her arms around and was very irate. When I said ‘ok then, whatever’ she threw me and my friends out, she actually wanted me escorted out. Wow! I’m still in shock, just change the drinks….if that was the resolution, we would have stayed all night! Training needed in 1) Mixing cocktails (these were not cheap by the way!) 2) Customer service. The manager needs to get a grip. Your loss!!

Place was empty which was lovely, as other places packed. Only small range of gin. The toilets were strange, spiral staircase down, to a very drafty set off toilets.

Rude manager behind the bar. Complained about 1 drink in an 8 drink round. Various people in our party tried drink, and agreed something wasn’t right. Asked for a replacement ended up getting kicked out.

Walked into the bar with work colleagues on a quiet afternoon. I reached the bar first, followed by my male colleagues. I attempted to order drinks but the barman refused to acknowledge me and just kept looking between the male colleagues of mine. In this day and age, to experience such behaviour, was quite surreal. Not at all what you would expect from a city centre bar. Won’t be attending again.

I really liked the design of the venue. I tried to book the space for an event but the communication was really poor, phone rings out, messages through social media and email went unanswered. I tried to go in and book and was told that I could get a reply with no timescales and a shrug. I wouldn’t bother trying to book a special event here, it’s stressful enough without this “service”. I booked the distillery instead which has been way more helpful!

Bouncer stopped me on my way in. When I asked why, he repeatedly said "end of" like an insecure toddler, then shut the door on me.

Contacted the venue in late October to book an event space for over 80 people in January. Told it was available and I just had to pay a hire fee. Lost over a month trying to contact them for more detail by email, telephone, social media and in person - completely ignored. Went in again today and spoken to very rudely by someone who was “just the supervisor” and said “how am I supposed to know why the manager isn’t replying to you” and that “we don’t book out the space anyway”. Later saw an article quoting the owner complaining about haemorrhaging money because he doesn’t have the business he used to. Word of advice - find some decent quality senior staff, you’d be surprised how quickly your business improves!!

I've been to Theatrix on a number of occasions, always around the time the German Market is on. It's the perfect location to leave the market and warm up with a cocktail. Staff were lovely on my last visit and the cocktails were great. It was a busy Saturday evening so it was busy downstairs (never been upstairs). The music was good, as was the atmosphere.

Extremely friendly & helpful staff!! The cocktails were good and taken on the open-air roof bar, did not experience it midweek, but there seems to be an in-house DJ & both the building and the decor were fantastic!

Quiet, early on a Thursday evening, nice roomy place, upstairs bar as well, but didn't try it. Friendly staff. Obviously prices as per centre of Brum. Financial sector prices, but some 2 pints for £7 deals, so not bad.🙂

Here on a leaving do on the middle floor on Fri 23rd Sep. Friend ordered a large glass of Chardonay. It tasted awful and although was a new bottle, there was obviously something wrong with it. 4 other people agreed it smelt and tasted off. Barman also agreed but had to get the Manager to agree to a replacement drink. He refused point blank and wouldn't budge. Considering overall our party spent quite a lot that night, this was terrible customer service. I wondered why the rest of the place was as dead as a dodo on a Friday night and perhaps this explains why. Rubbish and I wouldn't bother going again.

A ok place to have a drink, noisy.

Fundamentally the worst customer service I have received anywhere in Birmingham. We ordered 7 drinks, 2 martinis, 3 beers, and 2 mojitos. The 2 mojitos were the worst I have ever had, from the first sip the sugar, lime, alcohol balance was off. Both were massively watered down as soon as we went to their 'rooftop' and when we came back down to address the issue we were greeted with the least hospitable manager on the face of the planet. She almost reduced my friend to tears and completely refused to admit the slightest point of fault. Her tone, attitude and acumen were fundamentally appalling, I would warn anyone to avoid it and will be doing so myself. I would have given 0 stars if possible

We were surprised by how quiet it was even for a Sunday night. Indeed this dictates what time they close according to the barman who announced last orders around 6.30pm. Nice front of house but the state of the gents left a bit to be desired. My mother always used to say that you can tell a lot about a place by their toilets, I will let you make up your mind.

Visited with my partner Saturday 20th August it was very quiet which was a shame looks like it could be a good vibe if it was busy positioned in a great spot in town. Its a decent size and the rooftop terrace is lovely feels like your on holiday great idea to have a lift from bottom floor to terrace. Wished it had been busier but will be back.
