Went to see Joking apart which was very good. Advanced booking of tickets ensure a great seat. We had a meal before the show The hot meal quality was very tasty but the portions are very small for an average appetite. I was still hungry after the meal... We decided to have a desert as a filler but then had to wait for 20 minutes in a queue to order desert. Overall would recommend the experience.

Having had lunch at this restaurant, I was disappointed as many of the choices of myself and my Granddaughter were off the menu for one reason or another or the drinks machines did not work. As we arrived just after it had opened it was difficult to understand. Such a shame as it was meant to be a treat for the little one. Could be lovely if they get their act together.

If I'm passing at lunchtime I'll often call here. Big salads and tasty hot food in a spacious area on 1st floor. Same goes for pre-show food but, as others have said, it can get a bit busy if you leave it until after 6pm

I often dine here pre theatre and it offers great value food to suit most tastes with a good vegetarian offering. Counter service can be slow and if in a group you may not get to eat together if someone orders an item which has to be made behind the scenes but cheerful atmosphere and casual ambience makes this acceptable. Salads are good and there is always a dish of the day for vegetarians.

Yes, it's a cafeteria, and yes, everyone arrives at once - about 6pm, so queues can build up. Had dinner here on two nights, and would be happy to eat here again when returning to the theatre. On our second visit, we asked the restaurant staff in the afternoon if a table could be booked - no all gone. This isn't a real problem, we would eat in the bar area as we did the previous night. However, as we queued for dinner, a staff member spotted us in the queue, and told us they had had a cancellation, and our table was over there!

I use this lovely place regularly. Let's be very clear - it is a theatre cafe within the theatre building. It is cafeteria type service but the food is very good and the prices represent good value for money. It gets VERY busy before performances, so you do need to book. The staff are friendly, and the quality of the food enhances a good night out at an excellent theatre. Haute Cuisine it is not, but for a small place within the theatre it is a real treat!

We had a colleagues birthday here for lunch, the chef was very accommodating and allowed us to reserve a table for 10 people. Everyone's food was great and good value for money, however one friends arrived so late that everyone else had finished eating. They refunded her for the meal so all was happy! Lovely place for a relaxing quiet lunch.

The food is "home made" and wholesome - rather expensive for self-service but handy for the theatre. The restaurant is also used at lunchtimes for regular "get togethers" by e.g. groups of university wives.

The meat was tender and juicy, the potatoes chunky and golden brown, and the veggies sweet and crunchy. We couldn't find a place in the restuarant area, so we sat next to the bar. The staff kindly brought our food over for us. There was also a Vegan option.

We walked in and must admit did worry as was packed (3pm sitting) & I initially thought ‘blimey this is going to be a night’ However ! To be fair to the place, they handled it really well, there was loads of well trained staff and we were served and seated straight away! The food was fantastic as always and a great wine selection… fab visit thank you

Steak sizzler was fantastic.... couldn't decide between a carvery (toby) or a sizzler...(cherry tree) absolutely made the right decision.

Just returned from a family meal and what a great night we had. Ten of us all enjoyed our piping hot, tasty food. Service was exceptional and for ten meals and three rounds of drinks, the bill was very reasonable. Anyone considering a visit can rest assured that you are bound to enjoy a great night out.

Food was not 5 star, though for me and my family it was exactly what the doctor ordered: generous portions, good tasting fare and, ....the price was very reasonable. Most of all, the chef and his daughter were so friendly, that we had a good natter with them were he explained some of the acts and singers performing there at times. Overall, a very pleasant experience. Btw, a bottle of wine was included within the total price of £48.- feeding 4 of us! Thank You, Chef
