Northwood Garden Centre & Coffee Shop in Newcastle-under-Lyme

A bit rundown outside of the main building. We were looking for plug plants but they had none. The busiest place was the cafe. Very disappointing

Went here to buy a birthday card this morning at 09:00 as per the opening times advertised on here. The gaffer said they were not open until 10 and I told him I only wanted a birthday card. He told me, No! as he was sorting out storm damage, the same storm I have just cycled 3 miles through to get to the shop. Worst customer service ever. I told him the hours advertised on here and his response was, Oh dear. No sign of any apology or reassurance to update the mistake. Trip Advisor, kindly update the opening hours on here as they do not seem interested.

Great place to visit at Christmas time

Always a great place to get established and healthy plants. The staff are really helpful and the coffee shop does lovely refresh. All reasonably priced too.

We were travelling on the M6 North and looking for a non motorway service stop. This place is perfect, a 5 minute drive from the motorway. Delicious home cooked food, and reasonable priced. The bacon and cheese omelette was freshly made and very tasty.

Loads of stock, great cafe on site with a good selection of meals and drinks. Friendly staff, on site parking and well worth a visit to this family run business. Just purchased a lovely Victorian mail box from there and a Fox ornament at very competitive prices.

Great place to get a hearty lunch at a modest price. Great steak and mushroom pie chips and gravy! Huge variety of other things. Decent portions. Good for breakfasts too.

Lovely, friendly, and well-stocked

Lovely garden centre with lots of choice of perennials. A bit disappointed this year because I went 3 times to try and get bedding plants in trays and every time they had barely any selection compared to previous years.

My husband & I enjoy going here. There is always Plenty of Selection of Plants & Gift items also a wide choice of Silk flowers 🌸 & even garden furniture, Pots , baskets. Then the bottom end , there is a restaurant of which you can have a hot drink & Cake or Lunch of which there is plenty of Choice & Puddings. I would recommend this garden Centre to anyone. Very much loved.

We visited enroute to the Peak District wildlife park. Staff had already pushed tables together for us in the coffee shop. Impressed by the moderate pricing for a main meal and generous portions of the salad, Staff worked hard to serve the addition of 13 people to the queue and were pleasant and helpful. The Garden Centre was well stocked but not so large that we were distracted from the need to move on to our next destination fairly speedily! Would recommend.

Although i can appreciate the meat pies are homemade i did think dinners were a little overpriced..sorry.

The cafe is good eat there a lot for lunch. I also had a problem with a couple of plants in my garden, they were able to recommend how to solve my problem, as I had tried myself to cure, they put me right quickly and recommended a spray to sort it. Problem now sorted. Thanks

Excellent choice for finding the plants you require, the shop was well stocked, the cafe is well sited, nice and clean toilets.

Best garden centre in the area. A massive choice of plants and very knowledgeable staff. The cafe is of a very high standard and has a wide choice of dishes. The food and customer service is excellent.

Little small but plenty nine amd nice cafe

Done the round trip of 18 miles many times over many years pre-Covid, supporting a family business. We"ve collected loyalty stamps from the cafe & today went to redeem them, only to be told "we're not honouring them since Covid. This was confirmed by the owner Nick Gascoigne. So much for supporting this family business!

Nice place to visit for the cafe as well as the garden centre. Good choice of cakes.

Such a lovely garden centre, absolutely beautiful range of Christmas decorations (at that time of year), flowers & garden accessories ❤️ visited the coffee shop and was a very pleasent experience, staff were friendly and the coffee shop was lovely and clean with plenty of seating available, has a hot chocolate and cake for £4.50 which was really reasonably priced and very tasty too.

Had a "home made " pie n veg absolutely lovely ... but very expensive But then again can't moan at what we had

Lovely cafe, worth a visit to see the Xmas decorations

Visited here with my 2 children in the hopes that Santa's grotto would be here as it has been in previous years (before covid) but was disappointed to find they don't do it anymore. We used to love going here as a family at Christmas, seeing Santa and all the decorations then enjoying a cake in the cafe but we won't bother anymore.

Always get my Xmas tree here, wasn't too busy and reasonably priced 👍

Absolutely fantastic. They have a wonderful range of Christmas decorations. And the real Christmas trees are gorgeous and a reasonable price too.

Lovely garden center. Winter Wonderland of Christmas decs is in full swing. Not the cheapest place but full of lovely different items. Not tried the Cafe but always seems very busy. Staff are lovely.

Small but friendly garden centre, currently overstocked with Christmas trees outside and Christmas decorations inside. Cafe on site with reasonable coffee. Three of us visited and as it was a cold miserable day we thought we would forgo the cakes which looked very nice and opted for a hot sausage roll. Big mistake, the sausage rolls were microwaved to extinction.

Nice Christmas stuff but not as good as previous years when they had a grotto and reindeer also a nativity display.

Helpful owner, given good advice. Cafe was disappointing as only basics on menu on Sundays. Usually food is yummy 😋

Sadly not the best experience. Bacon sandwich none edible changed no problem but poor not the standard I was used to. Eaten here on many occasions over the years allways been very good. Sadly not this time.

Lovely little centre. Food is reasonable, noticed some comments saying the prices have gone up but haven’t they everywhere? Plenty of food on the plate for normal eaters. Would recommend.

Lovely little place, we always go in the tea room aswell unfortunately prices of food has gone up, and less on your plate, and hope they get more stock in the garden centre

Very friendly & welcoming. First time for a few years. But can't wait till they start unpacking all the Christmas DECORATIONS & Gifts we love it when they do that . Not sure if they will be having the Raindear on site this Christmas 🤔.

Cold chips, returned, the waitress took back in the kitchen, removed the chips from the meal, left the meal sitting 10-15minutes, then put the new chips back onto the original food, pie and veg, walked to the front serving area of food and poured gravy over it 'again' after the first time, to hide giving us back the meal of 20minutes prior and served us. My mum didnt eat hers, I stupidly tried to rectify the meal and day out seeing my mum from months before living elsewhere, my fault going here. Ruined day. And the attitude of the girls, I wouldn,t employ them, the larger girl of the two,s face was in contempt of my complaint. Refunded one meal due to me asking not offered but not both. I ate 1/3 of mine to try and resolve our day but even the chips 2nd time were not cooked enough. That night I had stomach cramps and severe back pain and needed the doctors the day after. Just relieved my mum 78 didnt eat hers. I rung the management to discuss and he said the girls musthave been muddled up that it wss the same meal given back, but it was very much purposely done. Wi never go again, its gone very down hill.

Great centre not too big well stocked and great restaurant food excellent. Also if you need a well established olive tree its the place to go to.

Seems a bit neglected of late plants blown over etc. The cafe used to be a thriving business but since stopping the deals on the mains and not doing much at all it's disappointing. Never seen it so empty. Be lucky if this place survives. Shame because it's always been a nice little garden centre where you were guaranteed a good meal

Great trees from here at a very reasonable price

Good for garden flowers but limited vegetable plants (tomatoes, carrots, leeks, etc.). Good parking but the pedestrian access is a bit dicey on the way in with no pavements.

Lovely, small garden centre that sells quality plants. There is a popular cafeteria on-site that sells hot and cold meals that are competitively priced. We have always been pleased with our purchases especially our most recent purchase of a shrub called The Bride.

First visit. The plants look really well cared for and the staff very helpful and knowledgeable. Would definitely recommend and will certainly go again. Melted cheese and bacon roll from the cafe was delicious. Nick was very helpful.

Called yesterday with the wife to have a look round got some lovely stuff got some bargains for the garden brill

Got what we needed prices always reasonable

Really nice place. Nice stock, plants and garden stuff reasonably priced. However the smell!! I wanted a fruit tree bought one but rushed as the smell was making me gag. How anyone can eat in the restaurant I don't know. Staff are a bit surly but not suprised working in that. If you look at my reviews, it's rare that I score so low. I wouldn't go again I would go to Trentham or Northwood or even Bridgemere and pay extra

Half price offer on pots and good variety of shrubs ,plants etc,large indoor shop and a nice clean coffee shop.we paid £25 for a large terracotta pot and home base and b&Q were asking £40 and £28 respectively for a plastic version.

Lovely food but today the toilet was out of order ,so not good for 91 year old .Not had this problem before .

Great place to get you plants and shrubs

Shop was quite dark inside. Not spacious. In the restaurant they were having problems with the credit card reader. Had a piece of cake, quite dry.

Delivered some garden furniture staff were great as per usual and a pleasure to deliver here

A little gem of a garden centre. Good quality plants sold at a reasonable price. Also the cafe is worth a visit. Had a very tasty Lemon Meringue and coffee.

First time I been here went with support worker really enjoyed it got all Christmas stuff and had a hot chocolate drink

Very poor choice in the cafe, have had super meals on the past, now paninis are the best choice I could get. Fine for coffee and cake but not for much else. Garden Centre has plenty of choice.

Not so good now at Northwood cafe prices changed a lot used to be reasonable two meals £12 now very expensive for what it is, one meal was sausage roll and chips £8.99. Really hiked up the prices overall, drinks etc., wont be going in the cafe again.

Overpriced to be honest on most items and cats wandering around inside but no information /warning signs or I wouldn't have gone in ..my allergy to them flared up and I've had to go on steroids to help my breathing since .

We went for some lunch and never again, horrible!!! I fully understand the world we live in now but really not good value, taste or even looked good when we got it!!!!!

Enjoyable visit. Covid precautions...mask, sanitiser, social distancing and track n trace all set up. Good variety of healthy looking plants for sale at sensible prices. Shame not many herbs, but otherwise excellent. I used the tearooms and had jacket potato with tuna, and a decaf tea. Staff very helpful , they ask if you want any particular milk, sugar or sweetener, condiments etc. Good portion size and reasonable priced. Nice gift shop onside too. Staff at the garden centre checkout were cheerful and helpful. Definitely recommend it.

A small local garden centre. As well as plants and garden products they sell a range of gifts. There is cafe on site.

It was OK,lot of the plants were very dry. Bedding plants were a little on the pricy side.
