nice seafront venue. food looked nice, but did not eat. quite pricey for two beers. Just passing and stopped off for a rest.

Amazing. 6 of us visited ad hoc, met by a lovely girl (Poppy) . Everything was perfect. Meals, Steak and Ale Pie, Thursday Steak Night, excellent value, Stilton Chicken, my husband said it was perfect. It's such a lovely Restaurant, and all the staff were very friendly team. Even had Music, which a couple of our party joined in with dancing.

Sunday lunch carvery was the best I've ever had. I only wish i lived nearer I would be here every week. Great food, excellent service lovely venue

Lovely Seafront Restaurant where you ate able to sit outside under a covered seating area. Menu good, you need to go inside too order. The staff are very friendly, and polite. Meals were served reasonably fast. Mussels, Combo meal and Lasagne were excellent. So nice we had 2 visits.

Excellent customer service from start to finish. Although we were probably the last customers to be seated for dinner, we were treated with no less politeness and excellent service as if we had been the first customers through their door,even our husky was made to feel very welcome. The food was excellent,compliments to the chef,and value for money. Would definitely eat here again when we're back in the area and would definitely recommend to others. Thank you guys

We found this little gem one night after eating at another place in Weson. Up to this point, our view of the food offerings in some of the pubs in Weston was poor. What attracted our attention was the singer, that was singing outside, he sounded superb. We went over to the hotel and had a drink and looked at the menu, vowing to come back to try the food out. WOW, that was it for the rest of our holiday we ate here! All of the food we tried was well presented and was delicious. The staff were amazing, polite and efficient. The cocktails were brilliant. Definately the best place to eat in Weston Super Mare. And it is dog friendly!!!

Although initially it looked as if I’d have difficulty finding a gluten-free meal the chef said he’d ensure my choice of whole sea bream was ok for me. It was amazing and l thoroughly enjoyed it. Also couldn’t have wished for lovelier staff

Arrival time 5:40 pm the downstairs outside bar was open, I ordered Thursday steak deal and 2 cosmopolitans. Drinks were brought to our table and the waitress was pleasant and friendly I can’t complain at this point. By 6:00 pm the outside/downstairs bar was closed bearing in mind this is a seaside restaurant and the sun was blaring. I would just like to point out that last year we visited the establishment quite often and never had a bad word to say about the place. Back to my reasoning for the low score….. The cosmopolitans have since changed from a cocktail mixed by the staff with the right ingredients to a tap mix which to be honest tastes like a cheap squash from a 99p shop “ if indeed there any or these left nowadays “ The house red that was part of the deal in all honesty wasn’t to bad considering the the price of the meal and drink which on reflection for the current climate wasn’t outrageous at £29.95 but the meal itself, well let’s just say less is more; if you can’t be bothered to cook item properly then don’t leave them off the plate and leave room for the things you can or at least try to cook. The steak was offered with a choice of sauce which I declined out of personal preference but nevertheless was served with what I can only describe as microwaved mushrooms and onions “not impressed “ The first steak was requested as rare but arrived presumably after the ping if the microwaved onions and was medium at best as for the second only a mortician could get this wrong as it was requested well done. By the the time the meal was served there were no staff to be seen and it was a scavenger hunt to find condiments to compliment or should I save improve the meal. All in all I can only say how shocked I was at how quickly this establishment has deteriorated, I even asked if they were under new management. Needless to say this is one customer who will not be returning.

have been regular customers for the carvery on a sunday lunchtime for at least a couple of years and have always been really impressed, but after our last couple of visits we’re left extremely disappointed and looking for somewhere new to go!! usually there are large joints of beef, pork and turkey waiting at the front, with all the trimmings and veg + potatoes to be dished up ourselves. we went on mother’s day where potatoes were dishes up for us as opposed to us being able to plate our own, which was disappointing but on a one off occasion we could make an exception. we then went again on easter sunday and were confused and let down. there were no large joints of meat, and potatoes were again being dished up by the chef. the meat was supposedly pre-cut using a slicing machine that they had downstairs, but honestly it looked like sandwhich meat that was sad and colourless, sat in a tray of water. 2 potatoes were all that were dished up and the veg selection was very mediocre. we were all unimpressed and disappointed by the rapid decline in quality and care for their customers and the food they serve, and when speaking to staff about the issues they advised that it was out of their hands as it was the boss’s decision. we will not be returning!!

We go there regularly especially for Sunday lunch Always delivers the goods and the staff are excellent Great venue with so much to offer Unfortunately the Sunday lunch this week was disappointing due to the way it was served and ordered. Confusing to choose the majority of your food at the till and then add the veg later yourselves plus even more confusing when it is brought to you with numerous people thinking it is theirs. Go back to the old methods please! If not you need to give every order a ticket number for clarification.

This beautiful Victorian hotel is right on the seafront a few minutes from the pier and the beach. Your very close by to all the things you could want, plenty of bars restaurants and attractions. I was there for only a night as we were going to see Some Guys have all the luck ( The Rod Stewart story) but would have been happy to stay the week. The staff are very professional and very helpful The food was great with a menu that had a good choice of dishes maybe could do with a couple more vegetarian dishes but otherwise great. You can sit outside even if it's raining as its covered and even has heating. It is a bit difficult if you are with restricted mobility and whilst there is a lift you still have to tackle stairs . The room we had was lovely very spacious clean and airy with a lovely view, one drawback in the room for a room with 3 people sharing there was only a tiny single wardrobe which didn't matter for us 3 staying for 1 night but any longer that wardrobe would only do for one but there was plenty of drawer space having a few chest of drawers. All In all we enjoyed our stay apart from the noisy guests that prevented us from getting any sleep which the night porter should have stepped up and calmed it down a bit, otherwise we had a lovely stay and after a lovely breakfast had plenty of time to vacate our room. Thank you to the staff who were very professional friendly and couldn't do enough for us. The only drawback was we didnt get any sleep as being on the seafront there were rowdy people shouting and making noise passing by and on this occasion there was a rowdy crowd in the hotel which went on till 5am, which when we complained the next morning were told the night porter should have put a stop to it because they were running up and down the stairs being very loud and laughing generally having a good time which is why your there but they should have respect for other guests as the hotel was fully booked.

I visited for evening meal with my mum, who is disabled and in a wheelchair. There isn’t a lift so my mum could not access the main restaurant. The staff were incredibly kind and set up the terrace outside just for us. Despite an epic thunderstorm, we were warm and dry with the gas heaters and we had a memorable evening including watching off duty staff member helping to get the outdoor umbrellas down in torrential rain. The food was excellent and plenty of it. I only put the review down a star because of the lack of disabled access to the main restaurant. Massive Thankyou to the staff who made sure we were warm and fed in really challenging circumstances.

Lovely hotel amd real nice staf and food so good f but the only bad side to it was the family room was in the frunt off the pud it's was very load amd people was out there till 1230am which keeped my 4 year old awake amd crying and lights was on till 1 am so very light in room amd windows was thin not looking forward to sat night

We went here for a family meal , firstly the drinks was flat and my wife's coffee had split gone off milk. Eventually the food arrived and omg I would have not given it to an animal it was disgusting. The attitude of the manager was completely disgusting, just like the food he sent out. We did feel threatened by his attitude as well. Not even Gordon Ramsey to help this person out. Avoid at all cost

Just arrived home from a4day stay,no problems at all rooms great a twin lovely bathroom food very good only down side frozen chips but first class stay and service would stay again.

Been coming here for years every time we visit Weston but until things change here will not be coming back. All internal alarms bells ringing when we entered this place and should have listened and walked out. It is in dire need of somw.serious cleaning and attention to detail. - Old partial Tortilla wrap in the Window Seal - Music way to loud for any family conversation and our baby was sleeping in his buggy. - Old dried food stains on sugar pots and table number stands - Coins still on table from previous guests - Forks on the floor - Out of date condiments After eating a bite of food I realised rhe condiment was out of date. Put me off any further food in the establishment and should have trusted my instincts. No good will was offered for the issue and it was ignored by staff. Very off-putting.

We noticed this place whist walking along the front. My wife and I ordered one egg & mayo sandwich, and one prawn sandwich. Both of these, had little egg, or prawn, and hence both were were very dry. At the bar I took a draft bottle of coke back as it was flat, and the bar man said, "what do you expect, it is draft?" Good location, but would not return.

BEWARE ! Refusal from the York hotel to deal with my query. I gave seven days’ notice period to cancel my booking due to an unforeseen family event that meant I could no longer make it. The hotel refused to refund or rearrange my booking , and would rather steal £99 then provide a level of customer service .Rather than work with me, they quoted tcs.Due to the weather and the events in Weston that weekend the room could of easily been rebooked out. And as i have another three occasions in which I will be returning to Weston they have now lost my business . I would assume a hotel like this is reliant on repeat business especially on the winter months . Pathetic ! Extremely disappointed and would not expect this type of naive service from any business in this day and age !

Staff polite but food was not nice, undercooked scampi, small portions and frozen cheap chips. Expensive also as we paid nearly 30 pounds for fish and chips and scampi and chips plus lemonade and a shandy. Sat outside but was not very tidy or clean. Had to ask for sauces as they were not offered. Would not recommend and try to avoid, better choices elsewhere.

Good value for money, traditional service two slices of meat with well/overcooked vegetables. Sometimes if you want ala carte you are persuaded to select other when the outside seating service areas are busy. I guess small kitchen !

Nice toilets is about all I can say. We came for a family lunch one beautiful sunny afternoon to celebrate an early Mother’s Day as I wanted a walk on the beach. Hotel looked ok from the outside and the menu was quite extensive. We sat outside as we have a dog and the patio area was ok. However, when our starters arrived at the same time as our main course I did have my doubts. The food was really not good - processed bits of Brie to start with and then fish and chips. The chips weren’t pleasant and tasted like oven chips - just not nice. The fish wasn’t very good either and was greasy, so all in all I would never go back. We didn’t complain as we’d already paid and I was anxious to leave and enjoy the rest of our day.

Lovely hotel, just across the road from the beach. Beautiful large room with a massive bed, really comfortable. Close to the shops, sovereign shopping centre just behind it. Lovely view of the beach and pier. Car park right next to shopping centre a couple of minutes walk away.

Have just spent a very enjoyable week at the York on a Just Go coach holiday.

When searching for carvery near brean this does not pop up. On a wet windy Sunday getting away from campsite and kids had a lovely relaxed carvery. Food fantastic.

Didn't stay in the hotel but did eat here. It was absolutely lovely. The decor beautiful, the staff lovely and the food was fab. And not over priced.

I stayed for 5 days with just go holidays the rooms were comfatable and clean, food very good friendly staff,good entertainment most nights .Thursday was a singer Tony B who was fantastic with music ,charity raffle for cancer research UK, and surprise guest added for fun and fun it was with our hotel host Shaun whom made the evening.he is an asset to the hotel.

We stumbled across this gem of a restaurant& Hotel when looking for somewhere to eat during our day and a half stop over at Western-Super-Mere travelling back to leicester following a week holiday in Cornwall.

Stopped by for an evening meal, having had two distinctly average meals out the previous two nights (at other establishments), it was a great joy to have a great meal at a very reasonable price. The food was of good quality and cooked perfectly. Staff were all very friendly and helpful and even squeezed us in despite serving a coach party at the time. Would consider another visit during my week-long stay. We looked at staying here and would have booked if it isn't fully-booked, may be next time.

We went to the York for an evening meal. We had a lovely table overlooking the seafront. The menu was very good and there was many dishes that I fancied. I settled on liver bacon and onion, mashed potatoes and mushrooms. It was absolutely delicious. My husbands meal was equally well received. It was good value for money and we certainly would eat there again.

We really fancied a roast and have previously had great food here. We saw they served carvery until 5pm perfect when fancying later food. Well we were greatly welcomed, staff very friendly and dressed very smart. Our waitress was very good and friendly. We had pork and turkey and there were plentiful veg and fab gravy. Fantastic carvery, service all with afab view. They even had lovely relaxing music which rounded it off nicely. Would highly recommend and will definately return. X

This hotel is roomy and the food is quick to come- great if you are really hungry. The sea views make it a good choice at any time

As a bar, this place comes into it's own on hot sunny days. Lovely terrace where you can enjoy a drink and watch the world go by. Better selection of beers and lagers than in the past. Perhaps not our first or even second choice for a drink in the sun, along the seafront but a strong third....

Popped for dinner expecting the lovely views of the bay which did not disappoint but the quality of the food and the way it was cooked was absolutely perfect. Two staff working so hard but seemingly enjoying every minute made it a memorable evening. As a resident of Weston I must say that I had overlooked the York Hotel until now. I shall certainly be back and will recommend it to my friends. I'm not easily pleased bjut this is special place with special staff. Thank You both !

Pop in Easter Sunday. Hadn't booked but they found us a table for four quickly. Service was first rate and very good value lunch and pudding and change of £50 can't be bad.

Wall chip paper painted red is not a good look. Needs to redecorate and update. Chipped cup argh it's the little things. Top floor box room with the sink in the bedroom not in the bathroom. No room, hot and stuffy, too noisy to open windows Water trickles out of shower. But the bed was comfortable and I liked Lots of staff around. Would I stay again? Yes but not in that room. Excellent location parking 10 minute walk away up side streets is free. Weatherspoon's two minute walk away

We didn't eat anything here, however sat outside on two occasions and enjoyed just watching the world go by. Good live music on a Saturday afternoon which was great.

Been here twice in the past two weeks, first time for business, then came back for a night out with the husband. Both times, I asked to switch rooms (there was nothing wrong with the rooms I'd gotten- i just really wanted a sea view and a bath) and both times the lovely lady at the front desk let me switch. (Totally with the extra money for the premiere sea view room, I must say!!!!) I had dinner in the restaurant, and the waitress was super friendly, and the food was hearty and tasty. The rooms all seem to have been recently redecorated, so everything is fresh and clean. And you can't beat the location- waking up to a view of the sea splashing around the grand pier was lovely. Will definitely stay here again next time I come to Weston (and will actually book the room I want next time rather than being a pain and asking to switch, haha).

My partner and i arrived at this hotel for a 2 day break to be told that the bar and restaurant were not open this week due to renovation work.the hotel stinks of paint, absolutely nobody about .and had to sleep next to a building site ....i no these places oviously have to have work done during the winter months ...but at no point during booking were we told this, and would of booked a different hotel if we had known.so not only dissapointed , but very annoyed at wasting our money .

Pleasantly surprised with the quality of food. Two courses for £10 on selected meals such as fish and chips and steak pie. This is lunchtime. Pleasant staff.The fish came out first but the pies were a good 5 minutes later which was a bit of a shame and its wasn't busy.That said, would go again.

My partner and I were enjoying a few days in Weston this past weekend and thought that we'd fancy something a little bit traditional for Sunday lunch. During the previous couple of days we'd kept our eyes open and decided that The York looked as good an option as any, their carvery priced at £8.95 seemed most reasonable and just after midday on Sunday we hungrily made our way inside.Upon entry we were asked if we'd made a reservation. Not a strange question in itself but it was odd that after I answered no, the gentleman went into the restaurant to see if there was any room, then came back and pretended to scan a list of names in the book before seating us.No matter, we were happy to be sat down and were looking forward to tucking in. We made a few observations about the dated decor, bits of peeling wallpaper, oddly placed open bowl of sugar on the table, dusty lamp behind us - the usual sort of thing really. I said to my partner that I found these things charming in a 70s sort of manner but I think I was kidding myself, and this was where the first seeds of doubt must have been sown.A waitress came to take our drinks order at this point. Usually I'd say something like "the charming waitress" or "the waitress was really attentive" but well, she just wasn't. At all. On that note I have to say that none of the staff were rude but they all looked as if they'd rather be doing something else, hell, anything else for that matter. If you watched Humans on Channel 4 last year you'll know the sort of cold, robotic, yet perfectly polite demeanour I'm describing. I ordered an orange juice and my partner a J2O, which were promptly brought over.I then said we'd both be having the carvery and the waitress went to get us two tickets and then told us to go over. The queue was short, the two women in front of us having a bit of banter with the carver (residents, at a guess) slowed it down for a minute and then we were up. My partner went first and opted for beef and I chose the same. After saying yes to a Yorkshire and stuffing it was time to load up on the vegetables. Now, this is where things started to go south a little bit more. I could see the cauliflower and broccoli together in water and it dawned on me that we were being served frozen veg. I'm no snob but I've been to Toby Carveries plenty of times and everything there is always fresh, without fail. There were two different types of carrot; tinned and fresh. Could tell they were fresh as they were rock hard. The roast potatoes also appeared to be the frozen type (sin) and I topped it off with some gravy flavoured water.Still, keen to taste everything before judging, we sat down to eat. All of my suspicions about the food were confirmed and so I won't repeat too much of the previous paragraph. Suffice to say the beef was very chewy (but not badly flavoured), the Yorkshire was stodgy and soft, none of the crunch on the outside that you'd expect and the veg was as weak as we suspected. Midway through the meal my partner looked out of the window. I asked "What are you looking at, dear?", and she replied with "Just looking outside. I wish I was outside".Neither of us finished all of the meal and we asked for the bill. While we waited for it to arrive I finished my orange juice. I was puzzled to see something at the bottom of my glass. My partner said it was mould. I didn't believe her at first. I mean, I didn't want to believe her! I've since googled orange juice mould and yes, that's what was in my glass. I wish I'd taken a photo of it but didn't think to at the time.The bill arrived and I did something I hate doing; I didn't leave any tip at all. I put down the exact amount of money and left. Complaining about the quality of certain things did cross my mind but we decided we'd rather just get out of there and forget about it all.I've given it one out of five because it won't let you score a zero, and the toilet was quite clean.

walked past here and saw the carvery sign so decided to eat here as it was sunday. entrance isnt well shown as it is on the side not the front. nice decor and atmosphere,no staff except carver speak good english so asking for swaps or alternatives can be difficult. carvery is ok for the price,hot but veg is bit bland and tinned. decent enough offerings and carver is well mannered. we left full and satisfied.

The hotel offered fish chips & peas at 2 for £10 before 5pm and we were looking for a late lunch so thought we'd try it and was pleased we did. It was freshly cooked and the batter was so nice we are it all - not something we usually do. The staff were helpful and friendly and our meals arrived quite quickly after ordering. Lovely view from the first floor bar area too. Would go back.

Took the family here for lunch today while heading back from holiday. We ordered two sandwiches, fish & chips & a kids fish bites meal. On ordering I asked if mushy peas were available with the fish to which I got a smile & nod, but they came as garden peas, mushy isn't available. On ordering the sandwiches were asked for 1 to be toasted which wasn't when it arrived & was sent back to the kitchen so the 4th person watched us eating. The kids 'fish bites' are fish fingers, bit disappointed as we thought it would be closer to the fish we had on the adults meal. No sauces or vinegar were offered with the meals & the staff were hard to get their attention. None of this was highlighted at the time of the visit as the elder gent in our group hates complaining. I feel, if they don't know how can they rectify, offer an alternative or give compensation for the disappointment & improve their service. So here is your chance

We went here for a Sunday carvery, the veg was very fresh and you can have a two types of meat if liked I cant fault it, ive been a few times now and really recommend it, it was a lovely sunny day so after we sat out the front to have a drink under the umbrella, try it, you will be glad you did.

We had a drink on the terrace here when sun was out and live singer was on. Very entertaining and great atmosphere. Went back next day for lunch which was very tasty although the menu was quite limited.

Had 2 for £10 fish and chips deal (before 5pm), nice freshly battered fish, not a massive portion but for the price great value. Hotel looks like it has great potential just needs a bit of tidying up round the edges

Staff were very polite and helpful. Menu not too extensive but fairly good but very reasonably priced. Food arrived quickly

Popped to Weston for the day last week. After a good walk along the front decided it was 'fish & chip' time. Spotted sign at York Hotel advertising two fish and chip meals for £10. Okay, we were not expecting mammoth portions at this price but what we did get was adequate, well prepared and very nice. We had drinks with the meal that were also competitively priced. Friendly staff and clean toilets. All you need when popping in for a lunch time snack.

A great place to sit outside on a sunny day and have a glass of wine and a bite to eat. The hotel serves all types of bar snacks which are homemade and tasty. Just sit and watch the world go by!

We have stayed at this hotel in the past. When we visit Weston for the day we always call in for coffee,food & a glass of something. Nice clean premises with happy staff making you feel welcome.Our first choice if we stay in Weston, NO Winter Gardens now so it could be a while before we do.

My friend and I stayed for 4 nights at this hotel last week which was arranged by national holidays.The hotel is in a great location right on the seafront and practically next to the peer .when we arrived we were greeted by the manager Tina and provided with tea, coffee, and biscuits, following this we were shown to our rooms and our cases were taken to our room which were clean with new en suite a decent size nice comfy beds and soft pillows.our evening meal was a carvery which was like the rest of the food here of very high standard,good size portions and and 4 choices for starter,main dessert staff were very efficient and pleasant nothing was a problem for them.1 lady was gluten free diet which again was no problem.I would definately stay at this hotel again as great value for money.there is a bus stops around 5 minuet walk from the hotel which will take you to bristol, wells, or cheddar fare was £7.50 return.

Thank you to the lovely and accomodating staff that hosted our group of 30 individuals with various special needs. There wasn't enough that they could do, and it made our day!

Choice of 2 meats from 3, loads of fresh vegetables and all the trimmings. Lovely sea views. Highly recommend.

During our five day stay the food was excellent! All you can eat breakfast, three course evening meal from an excellent menu.The room was cozy with a fab view. The staff were very helpful with a great sense of humor. Thank you to all for a wonderful stay, i will be back!

Very nice well priced meals enjoyed by all. Staff were very pleasant and helpful; could not have wished for better. Unfortunately we were caught outside in a very sharp shower, but the staff could not have been more helpful in moving us all; including our buggy indoors.Very pleasant visit, recommend !

I cannot comment on the food but the beers and wines were perfect as we sat outside in the glorious sunshine and enjoyed our refreshments. The bar is housed in a lovely old building in a central location with great views across to the beach. The staff were very friendly and there was a good atmosphere.

It looked lovely from the roadside but we were disappointed with service and food. There was a wedding reception taking place and no staff to cope with the demands. Waiters were apologetic but I didn't see the manager front of house apologising to anyone. Typical!

If your looking for a descent Carvery in Weston the York is great. Big portions and on special occasions they do a good set menu. Outside seating is lovely in the summer. Only downside is the deserts are usually a bit of a letdown. Carvery is good :)

Friendly and efficient staff serving good, well priced food. The only drawback was that it wasn't immediately obvious how to get in without climbing several stairs.
