First visit here. Decided on the carvery. Beef was tough, vegetables were luke warm, the sauce in the cauliflower broccoli cheese was watery as was the leek dish, and plates were cold! Pastry on apple pie was very undercooked. Ambience in room was not good, so all in all not a good experience. Staff were friendly. Will not return.

Myself and 5 friends were in Stretton for the car show over the weekend of 10th - 11th Aug. We booked a table for the Sat evening and had a fantastic meal. The food was exceptional, good choice, hot and plenty of it without being over facing, the beer was really well kept and rather moreish. The staff who looked after us, Hattie and Ella, were great, very friendly and attentive. If you're looking for good food, a nice pint, great atmosphere and brilliant staff whilst in Stretton you won't do better than The Yew Tree.

We booked a table with our 2 dogs, but the dog area was in the public bar with a tv over the table! We opted to sit in the garden (in the cold) and had an OK meal, but apart from the friendly waitress, it was very disappointing. We had read such good reviews of this pub, but would definitely not visit there again

We ate at this place on the last day of our holiday as we were just up the road in Church Stretton. All walked out we drove the 3mins to find a nice big carpark next to the pub. Lovely friendly service throughout. A good choice of dishes on the menu and gluten free options available. The food was very tasty and well prepared. Good portion size and reasonably priced too. Not sure why this place wasn’t busier as it delivered a very nice last meal for our stay.

We stayed at The Yew Tree whilst on a walking weekend in the Shropshire Hills. It’s a great place to stay, the room was tastefully done and the food was very good, both for dinner and breakfast. Family run business that doesn’t have the ‘part of a chain’ feel to it. Good value for money as well. We will definitely return if we are in the area again. Thanks for a great stay.

A nice traditional pub with rooms. Nice bar with the sprinkling of locals a d visitors alike. It serves Ludlow Gold on draught which is always a massive plus! Lovely pub grub - gammon and chips, fish and chips. Huge portions but really tasty and terrific VFM!!Room was spotless and rather modern in style. Unfortunately the radiators didn't work until the staff had re-booted the boiler later in the evening! There was a lovely big bath there too- but no hot water all night or even this morning. Separate shower had hot water! Disappointing as we don't have a bath at home and it was a trip for my wife's birthday and she fancied a luxuriant bath! Shame as this has prevented a 5 out of 5.

Today I went for Sunday lunch to find they have a carvery. There was a choice of 3 meats. The meat was cooked just right with the beef still being a bit pink and they didn’t scrimp on portion size. There was a great selection of vegetables to accompany the meat, a lovely Yorkshire pudding and the horse radish sauce had a great little kick!!

This is the second time we have had a poor experience at the Yew Tree. We went as a large part on good Friday. We had to wait over an hour for our food then when it came almost all our meals were disappointing and poorly cooked. My fish and chips was particularly underwhelming the batter being soggy and the fish not as fresh as it should be. The risotto was greasy and overwhelmed by the chorizo it contained. The flan and burgers were dry and not very tasty. However the waiting staff were helpful and friendly.

We reserved a table for Saturday evening and were really looking forward to it. When we arrived we were greeted very warmly and offered a choice of table which was great. We both chose the haddock with hand cut triple cooked chips and enjoyed a lovely pint of larger whilst we waited. Then the food arrived....... The fish looked like it had been thrown on to the plate, skin side up and the chips were basic oven chips, which hadn't even been cooked through and were hard in the middle. I didn't eat mine and my partner only ate his because he was hungry, such a disappointment. When I complained we were told that the chef had run out of hand cut, triple cooked chips and had given us frozen chips instead! Not a great thing to be admitting on a Saturday evening, especially as the table next to us had got a bowl of them. We won't be returning which is a shame

Bar staff at the Yew Tree certainly know how to look after their real ales. We attended on the Sunday and the beer had been served outside from firkins, covered in cooling jackets since friday and it was still in perfect condition. The beer was not bright, but live beer and was perfect even when coming to the end of their festival. As camera members we search for pubs selling real ales but some publicans struggle to keep their beers in good condition. TheYewTree certainly always serve a good pint. If you want good British beer, this is the place. Well done Kev and all of you. Thanks

Staying in nearby Craven Arms, we came across The Yew Tree almost by accident whilst on a drive. Our intention was just to stop for a drink but we were tempted by the menu to stop and have a light lunch. We chose from the starter menu, my wife had Camembert and Brie and I had beef on a ciabatta served with a jug of gravy. Both were delicious washed down with an extremely well kept ale from Wye Valley Brewery. Talking of the ale, it was pulled to perfection right to the top of the glass with just an eight of an inch head. This is how real ale should always be served but sadly all too often you are handed a 'pint' with a large head. You then have to wait for it to settle (well down the glass) and request a top up. This request is never, in my experience, denied but it is not always favourably received. Not so at The Yew Tree, I complimented the barman on his ability, he said that I must be a Southerner like himself from Torquay.. He told us some of the history of the pub which was very interesting. Outside is a newly constructed outdoor bar area which will be a great place on a warm summer evening. The pub was well prepared for the current Covid crisis, with a one way system etc and we felt very safe and at ease. What a great place, home cooked food, good beer and warm friendly staff. Wished we could have stayed longer.

A group of 8 walkers, we stayed at the Bunk House just up the road, and booked a table at the Yew Tree for our first night. The local beer, HPA was in good condition, and went down a treat. A light and citrus pint that quenched the thirst. The menu was limited, but the first night lamb shank specials were amazing, as were the home made pies, the horseshoe gammon steaks, in fact every dish was delicious. A unanimous decision to return for the next two nights saw us return for repeat helpings, and they even made a special batch of steak and ale pies to welcome us back. Altogether a lovely atmosphere and good food. The pub is being extended, so some building work outside, but it did not affect our enjoyment!

Visited this pub in passing a couple of weeks ago. We had stopped briefly en route a couple of years ago and glad to report that the renovation is a massive improvement on what this pub was and how it is now run so... well done. The food is very good indeed although having to wait forty minutes for starters is a bit of a fag but being a Sunday probably explains some of that. The main courses were superb and came early enough after the starters and the puddings were great. This Inn serves very good home made food and is worth both the journey and the wait on busy days. One regret? Maybe it was just me but the barman did seem very reluctant to hand over the change after paying for the meal and I got the distinct impression that he was trying to psych me out on the old embarrassment stakes and keep the change for himself

Every year, we mourn the passing of a dear friend who, sadly, lost his fight to cancer. We mark his passing with a 'ride out' with fellow scooter owners who knew Stewart, and share his love of life and scooters. A scenic ride through the Shropshire countryside, blessed with glorious sunshine, finishing at The Yew tree in All Stretton. Despite being very busy (Sunday lunches) Angie made us very welcome, and a good time was had by all. A perfect end to an otherwise sad loss. Thanks again Angie-we will be back!

Well-cooked, tasty food in generous portions and reasonably priced awaited our group of ten walkers, straight from the hills. We had a warm welcome from the enthusiastic new family team running this thoughtfully refurbished and now inviting pub - banishing negative memories of its former life.

Had the most amazing 80s party at The Yew Tree. From start to finish angie and gary made it a night to remember. The food was very good and plentiful. The disco was just like back in the day. Everyone was made to feel very welcome it was a great night. Can’t recommend this place enough. Thank you. Yew Tree.

Visited the Yew Tree twice in January for lunch. This was served in the bar on both occasions and each time I had the warm sausage baguette with salad and chips. Best cooked pub lunch I've had in ages and would thoroughly recommend this pub.

Visited with friends after a run on the hills for a Saturday lunch. It certainly hit the spot, great pint and plentiful food. Great to be in a bustling, friendly pub at a lunchtime.

After a walk across the hills from our rental property we arrived at the pub at 11.50am and popped in for a drink. As the Barman was getting ready to open (at 12) we asked if we could come in and wait a few minutes to which we were told ok, possibly tinged with some reluctance.

Went for the first secret diner club evening that is run by Jess who owns the fab 'not today seitan' in liar liar..what can i say?.the food was on another level. Litrally the best vegan food in Oswestry and way surpasses anything else available in a vegan cafe in Oswestry. The food was beautifully presented, the flavours were amazing and the cocktails were beautiful too. Really hope the owner decides to run these evenings on a regular basis although once word gets around i imagine getting a table will be really difficult. Its great to see a vibrant young business do so well and honestly the co trading with Liar liar is such a brilliant idea. Two amazing businesses running side by side. I cannot recommend this highly enough, the best vegan resturant/cafe in town by far

Great service, incredible price, a vegetarian paradise!! When we arrived the kitchen was just closing but the chef asked us what we were wanting and then accommodated for us 2 fabulous meals. Would 100% recommend to anyone. Lovely decore and perfect music to go with it.

Honestly the best pub meal I've had in years! The steak and Guinness pie was delicious and chips better than many chippies. How they do that with bargain prices baffles me. Highly recommend

Very very disappointing...we booked for Sunday lunch..big mistake. We were not greeted on arrival, there wasn't even anyone behind the bar for us to let them know we had arrived.... But from there it went downhill....we were put on the smallest table in the furthest corner despite there being lots of much nicer empty tables available..we eventually managed to order drinks and asked to order food..The waitress mumbled something and walked off....a lovely young man delivered our drinks and said the young lady would be back.....when she returned to take our food order we asked what she had said, apparently it was they had lamb....then we tried to order but what she actually meant was they only had lamb nothing else and mostly no veg either...one of our party doesnt eat red meat so lamb wasnt an option but the waitress did nothing to try to help the problem...no offer to check if the kitchen could help.....I really could understand this situation if we were walk ins but we had booked...they knew we were coming....why would you not attempt to provide at least one other choice We drove to Bridgnorth from Shrewsbury to take some family out for a treat and thats the best they could offer....obviously we will not return.
