Great venue but over priced drinks and the rudest staff… been going there for years on and off tonight was without doubt the most unpleasant experience… ignored by bar staff and talked down to ..

This is my fav bar in soho! Always a great vibe and good music with friendly people and super friendly staff!

My husband and I decided to celebrate our wedding day at the Yard. I spoke first with Lucy, then Tom and Julio. When the time came, we had an amazing support from them and the entire team. We had the upper floor bar for us and our guests. We brought our own food and decorations and the Yard team were there for anything we needed. That the best team we could possibly have. They are friendly, smiling, great attitude and extremely kind. We are looking forward to celebrate our birthday with them again soon. Thank you guys for being part of our big day. ❤️

I found very bad they added us a 5% gratuity for two pints ordered at the bar without asking. It's a pity to bump into service like this in such a cool place.

Great crowd in there. Staff still charging tips automatically without telling customers at the bar! Complained 12 months ago, manager pretending not to know anything.... reported to trading standards who are waste of tax payers money.

Good establishment in Soho, but greed has gotten the better of the place by now adding a gratuity to each payment without asking the consumer if they’d like to add this. This is in relation to simply ordering from the bar, not table service. Disappointing.

PLEASE AVOID. There is cameras in the toilet area, security are the worst I've ever seen; banging on toilet doors and threatening to call the police because I wouldn't open the door (Obviously not able to open the door when you're sat on the toilet!) Extremely aggressive and threatening behaviour from security and staff, shouting at us, banging the walls and slamming doors. What a way to treat a 24 year girl and her 59 year old mum. All we wanted to do was pop in for a night cap on our walk home.

The Yard Bar had an amazing atmosphere and decor, it's what drew us in, the staff where very busy but handled the customers well, we only were able to.say for a few drinks but enjoyed ourselves while there

Super expensive, not worth it at all. Never went to a bar that cost 27£ for two very basic drinks.

Really? They ruined our date by telling us to move from our table because another customer had been booked for 7 pm. We sat around 7:45 pm, and not one of the reserved people had arrived. We thought the general rule was that if a person doesn’t turn up within 20 minutes, they lose the reservation. The manager was very rude, insisting we vacate the table. But people arrived after 8 pm – really? Does the restaurant allow reservations to be held for over an hour? We hadn’t finished our drinks, and despite speaking with the manager, security, and staff, they didn’t respect us. We have the right to stay, and it’s their problem if guests arrive late. We decided to leave without finishing our drinks. Never again. Businesses need to reconsider their treatment of customers and prioritize more than just profit. I will inform all my friends and advise against going there. Shameful atmosphere and unhelpful staff.

Lovely place but it’s becoming a venue for groups that book a number of tables and don’t use them. Booking is free by the way! Today the courtyard had about 10 tables booked for 6.30 or 7pm. We arrived at 7 and decided to use a table booked for 7 when it was 8pm. The manager came and asked us to vacate because “the group was getting late upstairs” and decided to come down now. Seriously? We just left and won’t come back.

Nice atmosphere, however my darlings I ask for beer from tap and he makes it for me like a lemonade... Teach you staff how to pour a pint with the froffy head please. I don't pay for a lemonade my darlings I pay for pint. Sort it out please.

Great place with a pretty interior courtyard and very fast bar service even with people! Very nice decor, few seats but it's not impossible to find some! Very very fair price! Enjoy!

Nearly £8 for a pint of Shipyard! It's not a craft beer. And service charge for going to the bar and having a pint poured,... wow! Haven't been here in ages and suspect won't be back either.

Have always liked this place. Staff in the loft bar were pleasant. The place was cold but they did close the door into the balcony and turn on some heating when we asked them! I don’t go to a bar to freeze. Really cheeky adding gratuity to the bill. This should stop. Ok, they put a receipt by the card machine but who looks before paying and in any case it does not say it is optional. They are not waiting staff. You go to the bar to get your drink.

The yard was a very good experience, our server Henry was very funny and polite, always ready to help and just had good vibes. The bar was very social and everyone seemed to just be having a good time. Will 100% be planning to go again. If you do go, get the “dirty Henry” drink, it taste real nice. Haha!

Such a fun night. Went on 9 Feb 2024. Henry on first floor looked after my friend and I and made me the spiciest of margaritas on my request. The night was special. Henry was a great host and other staff too. The energy of the place was vibrant. The people were fun and music was sooo on point. Would recommend this place ❤️❤️

The drink tasted like....' smokers breath' and the illiterate staff behind the bar wouldn't change it.... a right rip off.

The guy at the door didn't let me in.claiming it is reservation only which was not true as when my friends came afterwards he allowed them in. I don't know bt it seems he didn't like my skin color or the way i m dressed. Definitely a no go bar.

Came here from as tourists from Amsterdam, the place looked amazing and the staff and guests were all very nice. The prices of the drinks however were very high.

Only ever been here in warm months so can't speak to the winter but this is the perfect LGBTQ+ friendly place to meet friends outside in central. Lots of space, nice being outdoors, very low key and chill atmosphere, no super loud music so you can have a chat. Really really like it here.

The bartenders are adding service charge / tip automatically without even giving you the option . Anyone knows how legal is that?

You can’t add service charge automatically to drinks ordered from the bar! This isn’t America. Used to come here a lot, will avoid in future

This used to be one of my favourite bars in Soho. But with a surly bartender and a lack of outside heating my opinion has changed. Also, why do they add a 5% gratuity to your check, when you have to queue for a drink, and get poor service?

Since when do we get charged for standing in the queue and waiting for the drink? Service charge for what??? Also £8.40 for a tiny glass of mulled wine? ARE YOU HAVING A LAUGH??? Not coming back.....

I been at this place many times, and yesterday someone broke a glass with a drink(full drink). And the manager of Yard just say if we want another we have to pay again! Really this is the customer service?

Why does the Yard insist on sneaking a service charge on drinks from the bar? Which bit of this is service? Is it me queuing for my own drinks? Or me carrying my own drinks back to the table? What’s worse is the way the bar tenders try to hide this when they ‘show’ you the bill. They always keep their hand over this charge. Funny that. In the old days at the Yard it used to be optional on the card machine. These days it’s automatically added. I’m sure the venue would say it’s entirely ‘optional’. But if that’s the case, why not allow your customer the option to add it?

Very nice place that definitely it’s much better week time so busy on Fridays and Saturdays when it’s just too crowded and it’s just too hard to move around. Really nicely done in a city style that represents night life in a modern but not fancy way with a quite colourful neons way 💡 I like it especially for early evening time before 9pm as later it’s just loud place to just talk and it smells like cigarette 🚬 so it’s healthy style people friendly so 4 stars ⭐️ but still I’ll recommend a bit 💪🏻

Amazing gay bar in London 🇬🇧 The atmosphere and general mood of the bar is great, as soon as you enter the terrace is nicely entertained, there are a lot of table, on the second floor there is a terrace and also some more space, the cocktails were good. It is definitely a great place to enjoy your night out with friends

So, first of all, it No cocktails bar… but it could be! Timothy is a perfectionist! The most amazing margaritas! An asset to this already amazingly convenient bar x

A lovely, atmospheric and attractive venue with plenty of outside space. This brought us in but I was shocked by the bar bill. £7.60 for a pint of IPA and £9 for a large pinot grigio PLUS a presumptuous gratuity. Why? Total bill £17.63 for crying out loud for a couple of average drinks.🇬🇧🇳🇿

The waiter was rude plus he stuck his fingers in mine and my partners glasses before we had our drinks finished asking if have finished the drinks...... i mean of course we finished with the drinks after he dipped his fingers in them .... gross

Rude and Abusive staff: was here a while ago and the manager ‘Henry’ seemed very stressed and rude. He made a terrible atmosphere among the customers and annoyed all the staff. He ran about out of control giving orders in an arrogant and condescending way. For the price you pay you expect and nice atmosphere but we certainly didn’t get it here. Henry also had the cheek to tell the bar staff not to serve me because I slipped my shoes off after a long day of working! As a gay man who has been coming here for years a change of manager is needed before I ever come back. Also since this, we made a complaint via the website and it wasn’t even acknowledged. Bad service. Ps. Rip off ^£8 a pint of beer here and bad service.

Great welcoming bar hidden away in Soho. Reviewing because of the great staff. They were brilliant at getting people tables, clearing glasses and politely letting people pass in the crowded space. It was a bit warm and I merely looked at the fans and someone came over and asked if we wanted them on!

The security are racist. As a black male, got turned away inititally as it was "reservation only", with another black male with me. This was a lie. My non black friends ahead of me got in no problem, without any reservation. Obviously the security will deny this happened. I told the security that my non-black friends got in, and never mentioned anything about a reservation. Once I told them that, they let me in. It's still not right, and it's clear racial bias against black people, so I'm posting this review for awareness.

Unfriendly miserable staff. 2 halves of lager £9.66 in total due to the OPTIONAL 5% Service charge added before you you pay. Optional to me means the customer decides to give the gratuity not the barman serving you. Total rip off and very devious way of increasing high prices by 5%. Will not be going back.

Used to be a nice bar! But the bar staff are rude.. The bar was empty with no one waiting and barman asked me for ID, when I’m nearly 40! Then when I was getting I’d out walked away and started doing other jobs, then when he did finally come back snatched it from my hand really rudely. Felt like he was homophobic the way he was acting towards me

Visited yesterday with friends - one of whom was a cigar smoker. Sat in approved smoking area only to be told very curtly by a member of staff to put the cigar out. ‘We don’t allow cigars - the neighbours will complain’. When we pointed out that there were no signs banning cigars and we were sitting in an approved smoking area with ash trays he just said these are the rules and if we didn’t like it we could leave. Either impose a total smoking ban across the whole place or at least put a sign up to explain this nonsensical policy. Been going here for years but no more 😡

Extremely rude customer service!! Sitting in a legitimate smoking area only to be told smoking of a cigar not allowed. Nowhere does it say that. They claim ‘the neighbours might complain’. I’ve never heard such tosh in all my life!! If cigar smoking not allowed you need a sign to say that. Otherwise don’t even bother with a smoking area at all. But for an officious, unfriendly member of staff to single my friend out unnecessarily…That’s not cool. Been visiting for many years but this was my last visit 😡

London is expensive but this bar has steep prices, got cheaper beers at other locations...

Google said food was available but only crisps at the bar. Nice drinks. Stayed for those only.

Went here with my girl unknowingly. Then found out that it was a gay bar. But had an amazing time as the atmosphere was really good and also the beers were priced ok than other pubs of Soho.

They add an extra service charge for pouring a pint.

Been standing for years but it’s no longer one of the last gay bars in Soho. It’s 10% gay, 30% straight, and the other 60% feels like one big hen party.

I came here late evening around 7pm. I had my bag checked my there security. I Ordered A large wine of white wine. There take NO CASH only card. Plus 5% Service Charge my bill came to £8.93 for one glass of white wine. There staff were friendly nice seats.

The good…..served quickly. The bad…….nearly 8 pounds a pint. Extortionate! And no wifi?!?! Won’t be going again, sorry

Drink prices are extortionate at about 40% over what you might pay elsewhere. On top of that they charge you 10% service for someone pouring you a drink. I used to love this place, now it is just a rip off. What a shame as it is a lovely bar.

The bartender didn’t know his drinks. He gave us the wrong drinks even tho we were right in front of him and it wasn’t busy. Lack of seating.

Doesn't accept cash payments. Unfortunately, this is a business that doesn't support the nation and the people who work hard for their money. Avoid at all cost. Could be a good place but not accepting a legal currency is not acceptable.

Bar man has poor attitude, IPA is awful, espresso martini from the tap is not even filled to the top of the glass & prices are a joke- it’s also a cashless bar… would not recommend

Tried to call several times to ensure that I could bring my dog. Nobody answered for 3 days straight. When getting to the venue (which is mostly outdoor and you can smoke inside) was not allowed because of the dog. However, when my friend asked why they hadn't answered the phone, the response was that they were too busy and haven't had the time. Answering the phone is part of the job and if you can't do that, then why even have a phone number there if it's pointless. Sad to have not been able to spend time with my friend who was celebrating his new job.

There are so many amazing & inclusive places in London, but this is NOT one of them. Never came across such rude and abusive staff. Avoid if possible.

I loved this venue every time I've gone however during pride, I get it's stressful but there was a bar staff member in pink. We queued on the left of the bar for ages where people were being served. Got to front to get shouted at saying we can't get served there. When I asked about the others being served they said they were staff and they'll call a bouncer. I've been here lots and never seen these 'staff' a bunch of women who he was clearly flirting with. Wonder how much that bar staff member gave away in free drink. I'm pretty sure every venue has all their staff working pride. His attitude, barking and threat was trash. Happy to engage with management if they care and explain it all.

So disappointed from the staff zero customer service arrogant behaviour that indian water was rude to me he should know how to behave to the customers at the bar…

I'm a visitor from the states - specifically nyc where gay rights in the west started. Huge advocate for the LGBT both personally and professioanllt for years. This- friends- is NOT a gay bar. This is a straight bar pretending to be a gay bar... which an all accepting encompassing bar - we love that. Nah, approptiation with the disrespect of not even catering t oits own clients. I would say it's a cultural difference but as some who has surveyed ... almost all the gay bars in the area while in vacation- this is the ONLY that gives me pause. Literally gay in name only.. If you want a boogie bar atmosphere ... sure - but you can do that literally in 99% of that planet... #OverIt

It's packed and lively on a Sunday afternoon (they open at 14:00), with friendly people, good service, good albeit expensive drinks. It has a garden, a loft bar and more. Enjoy!

An amazing gay bar. Had so many pleasant memories here. Both great in day and night. Upstairs is usually the best place to go if it's packed downstairs. The staff are super friendly and love having a joke about how hot it is and whether it's just them whose hot. Fantastic experience every time I go!

In the middle of SoHo, near all the 'actions', this is a vibe and popular gay bar. There is an upstairs, but I find it a bit crowded. Unless you stand on the balcony but then it's cold. Decent place for a chat before dinner.

The place was cold both in terms of temperature and welcome. All a bit barn-like and poker face by the staff. And they didn't have Cointreau, which I would have thought was a bit of a staple drink! But the worst bit was finding (on my return home and filtering through my receipts) that both I and my companion (on buying separate rounds) had been charged a service charge for the round - completely unasked and without any warning. While I don't begrudge giving tips for good service, a) we didn't get good service b) my drink of choice wasn't available, c) it wasn't a great place to spend my hard-earned money in and d) I'm not even sure that the tip/service charge would go anywhere but into the main funds for the organisation. But apart from that Mrs Lincoln . . .

My drink has been spiked on my last visit in October by a white, young bartender. Beware!

Прекрасный бар. Отличная атмосфера. Открытая веранда даже зимой прикольная. Публика разная. Маргарита неплохая. Пиво хорошее. Музыка не очень громкая. Рекомендую.
