We visited on a Saturday evening for a family birthday. The food (Cheese burger and cod & chips) was great and good service. Desserts were nice and big, sadly I didn’t get a picture before we dug in! Lovely classic pub atmosphere. Would be good if they had menus as you have to read off the board which an older guest found difficult, but ultimately we had a lovely meal. Will be returning.

We visit this delightful establishment regularly. On the last two visits, the friendliness of the staff and the quality of the Shepherd Neame Masterbrew was as usual but, oh dear, the food. Last time, the chips were soggy, clearly they needed to have turned up the heat in the fryer. As for the Stilton burger - shall we say, it was lacking in Stilton and the meat lacked flavour. This time the food was positively insulting. Broccoli and Stilton soup, without even a hint of Stilton and Ardennes pate served up with stale slices of cheap and nasty supermarket medium sliced white. This is a lovely pub, great beer and friendly, professional staff but the food is not what it was.

Having visited this pub many times in the past we were disappointed on this visit. Staff were excellent and very helpful and accommodating but I am afraid the Fish Pie was poor. It wasn’t really a pie and whilst there was cod and salmon in the dish it wasn’t in over abundance and the prawns were the very tiny ones and only about three or four to be found. Sadly I have had much better pies for the same price elsewhere. Economising I am afraid doesn’t encourage a return.

No atmosphere at all, inattentive staff, food not good, frozen roast potatoes and Yorkshire Pudding. We arrived at 1pm and they had run out of roast beef which was a surprise considering there were only four other diners in the restaurant!! Was here a year ago and it was full up but hardly anyone in here yesterday. We won't eat here again.

Country pubs usually do not accommodate well for vegans! But the Woolpack Inn are amazing! I came with some work colleagues on a Friday, the service was amazing. There is a friendly and warm atmosphere in the pub. Everyone enjoyed their food. They made the vegetable lasagne vegan for me, which came with garlic bread. It was delicious! They said they can do this everyday for anyone interested. The waitress went above and beyond to make sure I had an enjoyable meal. When everyone else had ordered dessert she went in and out of the kitchen finding vegan options for me. She discovered their Crumble is vegan and that they had vegan vanilla ice cream. Pubs in the local area tend to be a bit judgemental of vegans but this pub made me feel I was no problem at all! They really went the extra mile. Thank you so much, we will be back :)

Always a big welcome by Renata, Dave and the team, who looked after the local community throughout lockdown with very reasonably priced takeaways. The food is very good, especially the Sunday Roasts !. Big garden for the summer and cosy fires in the winter. Family and dog friendly.

We have been visiting this pub for many years and seldom has it been below par. Our last visit, 2 weeks ago, was ok. The beer there is Shepherd Neme, and whilst not a favourite brewer of mine, a couple of pints works with their menu. We were a little dissapointed with portion sizes this time however, though the prices charged are still reasonable but some extra vegetables wouldn't have gone amiss. Still, perhaps they were running a bit short so could be why! If you want a reasonable meal for reasonable money, this is worth a visit.

I visit here on the first sunday of each month in the summer for the classic car meet in the field at the back. Just throw something in the bucket for the charity collection. Starts about 10.30 but fills up around 12.00 with a large number of cars. If my wife comes we stop for lunch although it does get very busy and is best to book if you need it at a certain time. Food is not cheap but good.

Having gone past many times we booked a table, we were not disappointed. First impressions a beautiful old inn, all the features you would expect. Big inglenook fireplaces, low beams, nooks and grannies. The landlord was very friendly and welcoming, we learnt they had space for a few caravans so will definitely try that in the summer. The food was homemade and big portions, plenty of meat in the pies. Lovely homemade puddings too. The rest room was lovely and clean and very modern after you step through the old door, didn’t expect that. A beautiful find and will definitely be returning and recommending. We have been using this local pub for many years and always had a great and generous meal but sadly last week I chose pork with creamy leek sauce. What a mistake! It seemed that the pork was a slice or two from a Sunday pork joint that was served cold with a hot leek sauce over the top. The pork was dry, cold and tasteless. What a disappointment. I think it will be a while before we go again and then we will probably stick with the always fabulous cod and chips.

As always the food was good and at a good price. Though I did think my cod this time was a little on the small side. Also a nice pint of ale. Sadly though the service was slow probably due to staff going back home for Christmas ant not yet returned!!The restaurant was also very cold, radiators and fire were on but seemed like had only been put on when the bar opened certainly were not coping. That meant we left before we would normally as the girls were cold and had to put their coats on. We often meet here as a large family group but sadly the kids have asked if we could find another meeting place as the service isn't good. When there are 13 of you getting your own drinks from the bar when eating is a bind and as a consequence we don't drink as much as we would if served by a waitress. Getting to the bar which is often a sitting and standing place for drinkers isn't easy. We always leave a tip but sometimes I wonder what that was for. Don't take this too seriously as its meant as helpful notes for the landlord rather than criticism as it is still very good with good food sometimes worth waiting for.

Decided to arrive about 12 noon as it was a Friday. Good job we did, because within 10 minutes the place was nearly half full. Always a good sign We were greeted warmly and decided on our meals, of scampi& chips for my wife and beef & ale pie for myself. The number of scampi almost beat my wife there were at least a dozen and the pie contained many large pieces of really tender, succulent beef. This could come with, creamed or new potatoes or chips. Also, a goodly portion of tender cauliflower and green, green cabbage. Although I am not a lover of cabbage this was tender and sweet. Once again I would rate the ambience, service and meal, which washot and freshly cooked 100 percent. Bravo

We have visited The Woolpack Inn a couple of times before; the last being a Friday lunchtime a couple of weeks ago. The pub itself is lovely with a traditional homely feel to it, and although there is a lovely log fire, it is better to eat away from this as it can be rather smokey. The food itself was nice and hot and generally wasn't bad. The service was rather slow as they didn't seem to have many waiting staff; perhaps it is felt that as you have to order some of your food and drinks at the bar they were not needed. One thing that we didn't like and this is only personal preference, is how the apple pie was served in a bowl and absolutely swamped in custard. I would have liked it served separately perhaps, or on a plate with the custard to the side; at least you could tell then that it was pastry you were eating ! Overall not bad but could have been better !

Family members have been here a number of times and enjoyed it. We went last night to celebrate a family birthday and were very under whelmed by our experience.Starter menu looked nice but prawn cocktail was bland and the pate had no taste. Typical pub grub main menu, nothing very exciting. My burger came out first but I waited until everyone was served before starting. The waitress bought out each persons dish individually with a 3 minute wait between each. after 5 minutes I decided to start eating but had no cutlery (collected after the starter but not replaced.) we asked for cutlery but after 4 minutes my husband went to find some. I asked for sauce but even after the last person had been served still no sauce ( I like burger and chips with sauce so wanted some before I started). In the end I had to go to the bar to request the sauce again. It was about 15 min from getting my burger before I started eating. But it wasn't worth the wait. first mouthful of burger was disgusting. overcooked and tasteless. I paid £9 for 3 mouthfuls of burger and a handful of fried greasy chips cooked from frozen. The sea bream was also overcooked and tasteless. The rest of the food was fine. Not visiting here again.

I have been to this pub many times before because of the great food, good beer and fantastic atmosphere. How things have changed for what was meant to be a lovely dinner date on a Saturday night. Firstly to be told our "table was down by the pillar, you'll find it" was not the best start. Some scruffy woman seemed to have something to do with the place but was not offering any help. If transpired she might have been in charge, but I do not think a pair of very badly fitting jeans with holes in them and what looked like flip flops is a suitable image, even in a country pub. But no matter, as there is absolutely no service worth speaking of. You have to place your orders at the bar and the only service you get is when the food is delivered to the table and the plates cleared away. You would get better in a greasy spoon cafe!!The lovely menu of old was gone. The Starter selection was not too bad, we went for the Seafood platter for 2 - what a mistake. It was a small collection of deep fried bit of fish, clearly from a cheap frozen bag and was almost completely tasteless. The Main menu was very samey with just variations on a very cheap theme. Salad, potatoes or rice, some seasoning and lots of chicken, plus of course the liver and bacon, burgers and a steak, none of which was particularly appealing. My date had the Salmon steak with a Cajun spices. A bit of frozen salmon with some spices from a jar rubbed on the top does no constitute a £12 dish. I had the Tuna Steak which also had some dried seasoning on top - not sure what it was meant to be, because the Tuna was overcooked and therefore was extremely chewy and quite tasteless. The salad was a great lump of grated carrot, thick slices of cucumber, an under ripe tomatoes cut into 4 segments a thick complete slice from a yellow pepper and some stringy lettuce, all in a great pile. My new potatoes were overcooked and soft and the chips my partner had were clearly from frozen. It was food, edible and stopped us being hungry, that was about it. I mentioned my disappointment and at least did get some form of apology, but as soon as we had finished all we wanted, we paid and left. There was clearly no point in leaving a tip as there was no service to give a tip to. In fact my tip would be, dress smarter, be attentive, buy better ingredients and find someone who knows how to cook themAnd finally , if you accidentally throw a punnet of strawberries all over the kitchen floor, make sure the door is shut to the restaurant before picking them up and putting them back in the box...eugh!!!

Every one must have come in their own cars ,so tip one if car park busy check inside . Service was leisurely once ordered from the bar. We did have bread crumbs and sugar upon the re set table, not serious for us to re seat . Food was average to good .I had the woolpack burger ,the bun not toasted and the sliced cheese not fully melted but still tasty with good quality bacon . My wife ate the option upon the chalk board, the cottage pie which she stated, was very nice . Desert ok . Very cosy inside, and fair price.

It's a good idea to book as this pub can get busy. The food is lovely and hot and nice real ale. The owners make you feel at home. I would be returning 100%

Just a brief review as I've reviewed this great place before. All three meals were delicious and served with generous portions. The log fire was burning and the welcome was warm as always. My third visit in the last six months or so and all three times it's been very good indeed.

I viisit with my elderly parents and sister for lunch. It was a quiet day, which was not a problem, but the place just did not seem warm enough.

Though we are regular visitors throughout the year we are not local or very regular as a lot of the custom clearly is. We therefore thought ourselves lucky to get a table for two on Christmas Eve when it was very busy with lots of locals all friends of the Woolpack, in fact we felt a little left out when the landlord was giving out Christmas cards and song sheets for later!Despite being very busy the service was good, the food arrived quickly and it was very good as usual.A great pub/restaurant with very good value for money food.If I could change anything I would include drinks orders and table service as the bar area is very congested and getting another drink when in the middle of the meal can be a challenge. We will be back many times in 2016.

Lovely pub with a good cosy atmosphere. Came here for dinner with my boyfriend on a whim. I had the steak and ale pie with chips, it was delicious. Boyfriend had cottage pie and it was really tasty (I had to try it obviously!) Good value food.

The crackling log fire and friendly service from behind the bar made for a warm welcome in all senses of the word. We had plenty to choose from on the menu - from good old-fashioned sausage and mash to a selection of vegetarian, meat and fish specials. A lovely country pub with a relaxing feel. (It's a long way from Maidstone and the closest village is Yalding - a pretty spot on the Medway and good for canoeing or fishing.)

Stayed on CL behind pub so just had to try the beer and food. Both were very good. We tried a mixture of dishes while we were there and friends visited too - everything was great. Generous portions served in good time and always with a smile. And to top off the experience you could then sit at the bar for drinks and a chat with the staff and locals. Sadly not enough places like this left!!

We live near the Woolpack and used to really enjoy going. Until it changed hands and the atmosphere and food deteriorated. Not having been for a few years, we tried it with friends again last week. It is cosier inside, and the food was good. I had the steak and ale pie, and the meat was beautifully tender. There was a nice selection. The pub was very busy, but the service was very friendly and helpful, with a normal waiting time for the food.We will definitely go again!

My friends and I visited this pub on a recommendation. Unfortunately, when we arrived for our table reservation, we were unable to get to the bar due to a boisterous crowd of adults and children. This left us standing about, without any staff to show us where to sit. Eventually, we found a table for four and assumed it was ours. On reflection, we should have left there and then as the noise level was excruciating. However, we assumed that because of the very young age of some of the children, that they and their rowdy parents would leave. We suffered through a starter and main meal but had to leave before pudding as it was really unbelievably rowdy. Children were running unsupervised throughout the dining area, whilst their parents were drinking, loudly discussing inappropriate things and either on their mobile phones or outside the pub. Disgraceful! The only person to blame for this whole shambles is the Landlord, he should have taken control of the situation and showed his other guests some respect.

Had been regulars a while back and was so surprised to see, firstly, the car parked lined properly so as no vehicle reverses onto the busy road. Secondly, new owners. The interior is very similar and the menu is also very similar. But the welcome, friendliness and caring attention was streets ahead of what we had been used to. All food is prepared freshly so be prepared to be patient. Our food was great. This is a pub, not a restaurant, so don't expect 'waiting staff', Nevertheless, they could not do enough for you. We will be returning as 'regulars' again. I would most definitely recommend stopping to eat hear.

Popped in when we were just out for a sunny Saturday drive in the the countryside. Ended up staying for dinner which was a good idea! The food was excellent and the menu had a great choice; we were particularly impressed that there were no less than four vegetarian main meals available. On top of that, Jane couldn't have been more helpful and professional as she organised a slightly customised version of a meal for my best girl, who wasn't wanting a big portion. In brief, a lovely old pub with great ales, great food and great people at the helm.Dave runs it all and also gets some good live music at times as well; he was playing some great music from behind the bar that afternoon too.

First time, will definitely go again. Reserved table for 1pm, arrived 45 mins. early and shown to our table. Food was really good, first time ever I've not been able to finish main meal, desert was great. Staff were very pleasant and never rushed us, in fact we were there for 3 hours, having a chat and eating our meal without being rushed to get out, what a change. Well done and thanks to you all, see you again.

Felt it was about time I reviewed this restaurant. We frequently take friends and family visiting us to this restaurant and everyone enjoys it. The food is always good and I've been told that the various steak pies/puddings are excellent. The crab and crayfish salad is lovely with new potatoes and the puddings are gorgeous. Recommended

Very nice country pub, good atmosphere, has a strong 'local' contingent. There is parking, but it is a bit limited although people do park on the road, and it is not the largest pub. If you want to eat, then booking is recommended in the evenings. Menu selection is very good. We've used this pub a number of times over the last few years, but on our latest visit the food was a little disappointing. Portion are good and it's nicely prepared, the staff were good and the delivery was timely, but the food was a bit more 'pub' and less gastro. Seems to have slipped a little.

Good pub grub, portions are very generous. I don't think all is home made but well presented and cheerful staff. Unfortunately the last two times we have been here the plates have been cold so very quickly the meal was cold. A shame.

Popped in for afternoon tea with a voucher. We come every year for my Birthday and this year was still fabulous. Service has got alot quicker and our servers looked after us asking if we wanted more coffee. The ham in the sandwichs was particularly delious and the warm scones were just yummy. Coffee from here is the best and yes I say that every year! Best of all you can have as many cup as you wanted. Shame it's a hours drive to get there but we will be back!

My experience at the Boat House was very disappointing. As a party of three we were there when the doors were opened. Shown to a table and given menus and asked to order at the bar. No problem so far, we ordered three meals. One was a starter for someone eating later and a sandwich and ham egg and chips. Seemed a little expensive but family meal in difficult situation. Our server arrived with two starters. We only ordered one but as a meal for one of us. Half an hour later our other meals arrived. One Sandwich and ham egg and chips. In the mean time the server had returned to the table and refunded money for the other starter that I had not ordered. The food was fine if not a little expensive. One of the small eggs I had was hard and for the price there was not a lot on the plate. I had approached the server about the delay and was told it was my fault. Strange, it wasn’t me that got the order wrong. When she took the spare plate of starter back, how long does it take for someone to cook to eggs and make a cheese sandwich, half an hour seemed a bit much. I did mention to her that there were three of us and we ordered three dishes, where was the problem, but it still seemed to be my fault. I would not recommend this.
