Superb freshly cooked food - the best pub food we have had in ages. The specials were great and even nicer to see was some very special Easter desserts on offer. Keep doing what you are doing!

Drinks very expensive and food, different from website prices needs updating. Not for us I'm afraid.

The Woolpack failed to impress. The food was unremarkable and pricey. Service was hit-or-miss. We left feeling let down and unlikely to return. Perhaps others have had better luck, but for us, it was a major disappointment.

Terribly disappointed with our experience at the Woolpack in Sopley. We visited three times during our stay in the area and unfortunately, all three meals fell short of expectations. The lunch, dinner, and Sunday roast were all mediocre at best, and to make matters worse, the prices were steep. The dinner was particularly underwhelming - it was the worst of the three meals. Service was average, at best, and unhelpful during one of our visits. Considering the quality and price, we'd not recommend the Woolpack. Maybe they were just having an off streak, but for us, it was a disappointing experience all three times.

Excellent pub diner which we visited today. we chose this as my son was bringing his Labrador with him so a dog friendly pub with a garden was a must. We had a great welcome from the staff and the landlady in particular, so very friendly. The choice of drinks was great and the food choice exceptional very tasty. Would definitely recomend for a visit.

Beautiful setting. Average food. Poor service! We were 'accidentally' charged for our bill plus another table so we ended up paying more than double. When we took the receipt back for a refund, there was no apology and the lady acted like we were a huge inconvenience. We had also tipped based on the incorrect total and there was no offer to refund that. It was almost as if she was annoyed that she'd been caught out. She spent most of the time chatting to her friends in the garden and was visibly stroppy with us as we left. With further training on customer service or a change in staff we'd consider returning. Otherwise there are much nicer places in the area with staff who know how to provide a good service to their paying customers.

We went to the Woolpack for dinner last night with our daughters, the food was hot and fresh. The lady who served us was lovely with a great rapport, very attentive. It was warm and welcoming. I would definitely recommend this fab country pub.

Good food served in generous portions. Friendly service and lovely surroundings. We need to go back when it’s warmer to make use of the nice outside garden by the river.

Great roast, plenty of meat, served piping hot. Great atmosphere, attentive staff. Son had fish and chips but the skin was on the fish which spoilt it for him

I last visited the Woolpack when it was under the old ownership in fact left a very positive review last time but on my latest visit under new ownership I was left very disappointed the Sunday lunch was just OK Pork quite dry vegetables not great 1 piece of cauliflower (really) and exspensive for what it was it used to be a more of a traditional Sunday lunch with plenty of vegetables and meat done to a T and good value I appreciate prices have needed to rise a bit please offer good value for money, on a final note the service was very good very attentive.

Nick and the team did an amazing job. Nothing was too much trouble. The food was great, as usual. Great service and good value. No rush to clear the table and move us out, and we were able to take our time and enjoy the atmosphere, food and company.

The food was very nice, but the service we felt was 'lacking'. The menus were already on the table, so we were not informed that there was a range of specials available, but this was not apparent when we ordered. My wife walked up to the bar to get some drinks, and was immediately told to go and sit down, and we'll take your drinks order, but we couldn't choose from what may of been at the bar! Don't even ask about Mocktails! "No we don't do those!" 😞 The specials only came to light when we had to go and locate a member of staff to take our sweet order! These were on little black boards on the wall near where you come in. The atmosphere was ok due to the lack of interaction from the staff.

Simply terrific. Warm welcome, traditional setting. The perfect atmosphere. Food wow! Generous portions, pipping hot. You will be impressed. Went with good friends and family. Woolpack made our gathering perfect. Thankyou from us all.

Lovely staff, but sadly, the roast was rather dried up. The tiny disc of stuffing was so hard I struggled to get my knife through it. Not very hot, and the beef was tough. Roast potatoes weren't fluffy as per the description. Disappointed.

Booked a table in the conservatory for Sunday lunch. From arrival, the service was excellent. The view from the conservatory over Sopley Brook is lovely, and the Sunday Roasts are plentiful and delicious. The cheesy leeks are a lovely side dish. Can’t comment on dessert as we were too full from the roasts! Highly recommended!!

The welcome was great, the food excellent. We had the Friday fish special, the Thai sauce pan roasted Hake with mussels & prawns was as good as you can get, followed by the Bakewell tart, a really exceptional food fest. A real old world pub, with lovely beer garden and all very dog friendly, we are very lucky to live nearby and can keep coming back!

Had set menu was ok a bit limited

We had two two pints of Aspel Cider, whilst sitting in the garden in the sunny and warm September afternoon. Our food was brought to our table. The food was generous and tasty. The pub is thatched and full of character.

Such welcoming staff and delicious food. We were there for supper with our 2 year old and the staff were amazing with her. Highly recommend this pub for the food, staff and atmosphere

Excellent beautifully presented food. Biggest slice of steak and ale pie packed with big chunks of meat. I had the smoked salmon linguine which was lovely too. Beautiful day sat in the garden sadly so close to the road traffic noise is unavoidable

We visit every year on our family holiday and always look forward to dining here, even sometimes just popping in for a drink

Perfect Sunday Roast with succulent beef highly Recommend.

Well in one word fantastic, the best Customer service experience I've had in a long time. I've eaten at some of the best Restaurants and there don't come close, for me that says alot.

A pub that always looks inviting when you drive past and didn't disappoint. Superb food, friendly staff, easy car parking and a really charming beer garden separated from the pub by a stream with 2 charming little bridges. Looking forward to a return visit soon.

Beautiful location, quaint picturesque period building, stream running through the garden, food looked nice, from what I saw, staff nice and functional, phenomenally bad and tasteless automated machine made coffee.

Had dinner here 16/08/24, was very good. The food was excellent as was the service. Would recommend and will be going back.

Been wanting to try this pub for a while so decided to have lunch there today - the food was average at best and overpriced for what we received.

Beautiful setting food fa amd service

Food was excellent and service was perfect. All credit to the owner who clearly takes pride in the standards of his restaurant and made our visit thoroughly enjoyable. Would definitely return for another meal and can highly recommend the burgers.

A great country pub with excellent quality and variety of food choices. We had an evening meal on a week day. Service was friendly and efficient. Able to enjoy a leisurely meal. Dogs welcome. Would go again often.

We arrived on a sunny day which helped. Good beer garden by the river. Staff knowledgeable and service efficient. Good menu choice not typical English pub fare. Reasonably priced and good presentation.

We received a warm welcome from the manager when we arrived . The barmaid was pleasant and helpful.our food was very nice with very good selection of veg. The pie was great. All in all a pleasant experience and will go again.

Fantastic pub, absolutely loved the garden area, it has a stream running between the pub and garden which was really nice. Toilets were clean. The food was lovely, really recommended. Everyone was happy with their order and we all enjoyed an ice cream subday after as well. The service was lovely. Really enjoyed it here and we have recommended to family and said we would definitely go back.

Haven't visited for years. We.were here on a good weather day. Good menu, good service and plenty of drinks choices. The only down side is traffic noise but good free parking.

Went today for Sunday lunch, really good choice for a Sunday Menu. Great portions, served very hot and freshly cooked. I had steak and ale pie it was well worth every penny, served with fresh vegetables and crispy chips. Highly recommend.

Absolutely Fantastic experience at the WoolPack for food and drink! I've just moved to the local area and since I tried the food here Ive been back 3 weeks in a row for their Monday Night "Burger Night" The One To Have Is The "Pulled Pork"!! Mouth watering!! One of the nights I invited 7 friends to come and try the burgers as they are that amazing! Not forgetting the deserts.... They are brilliant too!! Thanks To The Team and your now my regular pub!! Can't recommend highly enough! James.

We had amazing service, the young lady was polite and chatty. We specifically came in for the Ploughman's spread, as one of my favourite lunches I have to agree, it was really great. We live 1 & 1/2 hours away. So probably won't pop in again for a while. But when next in the area will definitely come in for lunch. Thanks 😊

Walked in for lunch on a hot Saturday. friendly helpful staff. Dog friendly. Lovely food with good variety. We'll be going back for another visit. Cost about £10 for kids meal and £18 for adults meal. Large puddings cost £8-£10 but big portions.

We had a delicious Sunday roast. Was a quieter Sunday evening after an apparently busy lunch. We sat inside which has lots of character for such an old pub and really comfortable and welcoming. Staff are amazing and really welcoming. Outside seating looked beautiful next to the river. Will definitely be going back for a relaxing meal in the beer garden next time very soon!

Great service in a great location. Food was good, with a great mix of choices.

First time coming here ( we drove just over hour to get here) and the service and food was excellent and good portions. We took our dog aswell which he was very much welcomed there. Nice big car park and there's an overflow car park too. The pub is situated in such a beautiful surroundings with a stream and you can go over Bridge as there are a few benches there. Absolutely love the place and Will definitely go back there. We give this pub 5***** and very much highly recommend here. Thankyou to the staff that served us and said our dog was beautiful ( the white husky cross dog, I'm sure you will now know who I am).

Nice big historic pub with low doors and ceilings. Barman friendly and gave me some valuable information regarding the last leg of my walk along the Avon Valley Path. Barmaid friendly and chatty and filled my empty water bottle for me...thanks both! :)

Always a lovely place to have a drink and some food.

It's a beautiful pub, with a great atmosphere and lovely staff. But the food should be better quality and tastier for the price. The beef Sunday roast was a bit too bland for £20. The vegetables, although properly prepared, it was obvious that were not top quality, but more like the value range. The meat also. The food portion was much too big. The desert was tasty, but very small for £9 and would have expected some home made custard with that, not the microwaved canned one.

Stopped off here on a cycle ride in the late afternoon yesterday. The gentleman serving behind the bar was clearly in a foul mood. He slammed the card reader down on the bar when it was our time to pay. Two serving staff were observed wandering around the garden with one plate of food each looking for a table on the wrong side of the stream. They were chatting away like budgerigars and seemed untrained in their jobs. Generally the atmosphere was one of staff bickering. The setting is beautiful and the food looked great, let down by poor management.

The pub is set in a good place, I went for a Sunday roast but was very disappointed in the tasteless lamb roast.

We visited last week. Good home cooked food and friendly staff. The steak pie was lovely. It would be nice to have a little more variety on the kids menu, maybe sausages or bread crumb fish or chicken instead of batter. smaller kids sandwich box would be great too as an option. Nice selection on the specials board. Lovely beer garden.

We stopped for lunch on the way back from Christchurch and hadn't visited The Woolpack for 5+ years. The staff are attentive and super friendly. The food was fab and the pudding was amazing. We had liver, mash & gravy and also the Thai Green Prawn curry. Finished off with a locally sourced Apple Cake with ice cream.

11 of us ate here after a 5 mile walk from Sopley to Ripley, to Bransgore and back to Sopley. Extensive menu, tasty food and good service. The pub let our walking group park here, but requested we didn’t park there, if we came again, as we apparently blocked parking spaces for other diners. Also, initially they requested a £5 deposit per head and pre-ordering of food, but this was waived (we would have gone to another pub if they had insisted). Overall, a lovely pub, good food but a shame that they’re not overly welcoming for groups of walkers.

We went for a Sunday lunch it was nice but not fantastic, my wife food as she said was not too hot but my was good, Bear was good and the staff where kind and intensive, would we go again yes most probably.

Ordered the leg of lamb for £21, when the food came out it was the portion size of a starter, tiny. You could make an exception but the food tasted so bland we left feeling like our money was wasted. This establishment has hiked their prices, but skimped out on taste and portions. Again that dish cost £21! Waitress with the tattoos seemed shifty too. Very strange First bad experience at this place after coming a year ago, but definitely won't be returning.
