So disappointed, it's such a beautiful pub and had a lovely atmosphere and therefore I thought it would be the perfect place to celebrate my partners birthday with our families. Because you have to go up to the bar and order your drinks and food (not a problem) three out of the 14 meals came out at the same time as the starters (we'd previously asked if they could hold the mains until the people having starters had finished but we were advised this wasn't possible because we weren't putting it on one big bill, but if you have to go up to the bar and order everything yourself then people are going to just order and pay for what they're having) so we thought fine. However, time was going on and we hadn't had the other meals come out. The waiting staff weren't checking that we'd finished our starters and we had to physically flag to them that we were done! Then when the remaining meals came out they weren't very warm, cold plates the roasts weren't very warm. The food tasted beautiful but it was so so disappointing. This pub is really not large table friendly because it doesn't offer table service. Multiple of my guests complained that the gentleman behind the bar wasn't very happy that we were ordering and paying separately.. but what do they expect if your not going to order table service!!

I came here after a long hike and I cannot tell you how impressed I was not only by the beauty of the place, but also by the kindness of the staff. And the food was something amazingly delicious! The soup of the day warmed me up in this cold weather, and the buttermilk chicken burger was not only a good portion, but also incredibly tasty. I can definitely give 5 stars for everything and I will come back again.

We have been coming here for years, a credit to Dave and the staff all very welcoming. We have never had a roast before but it did not let us down. We had a Pork roast and it was delicious just what the we needed after a chilli walk. This define won’t be our last Sunday dinner here.

Great dog walking country put a pub in the middle it gets even better. Great food great atmosphere

Amazing family pub in a beautiful area of the New Forest. I’ve been coming here since I was a child and the atmosphere has always been very friendly and welcoming. Food is nice and they have great selection of cask ales and keg beers. Excellent for a spot of lunch and a forest walk.

A lovely pub for a meal and drinks. On site parking, dog friendly, excellent service. Pre-booking online is a good idea. Nice varied menu, relaxing atmosphere and a well decorated pub. Great quality food, nice varied menu. Would recommend to those exploring the area or just looking for a pleasant place to rest for a while.

Friendly staff and great food - a well rated pub!

We were there last night for a family meal. The food was excellent, as was the service. Games were laid out so my 8-year-old daughter didn't get bored. They went the extra mile to help with a nut allergy. The staff are extremely friendly and kind, and I can't wait to visit during the day for lunch.

Having a drive around ..26/10/2024 we spotted this pub through the trees ..I initially thought we were stopping just for a coffee, but the wife picked up a menu like she does just to have a nose. We both agreed on seeing the menu that we would definitely be eating..Both agreed on the Oktoberfest menu. …we ordered a sharing starter ..Two soft Drinks.Two coffees and Two main Meals. Staff are very friendly and polite…Food was amazing …A return visit is already on the agenda..

We are local to The Red Shoot and met friends who were camping at the pub's campsite for lunch. The food and drinks were great. Can recommend the Henry Burger! Staff were friendly and chatty and we enjoyed the outside seating area and environment.

Friday 27th September 2024, wife and I arrived at 7pm and were amongst the last to leave. One of the best evenings we’ve had in a pub in recent years! We ate & drank, even danced to the band. Staff, food, pub, other customers… all 100%. Our third or fourth visit, will definitely visit again soon. Thank you

As we are relative locals, my family has visited this establishment over the years on numerous occasions, but haven’t had cause to visit for about 1-2 years. On our last visit back then, we found the landlord to be unwelcoming, unfriendly and somewhat condescending. The food too on that occasion, was distinctly average and this was definitely a factor as to why we stopped walking to the Inn. Today however, due to the fact that we had family visitors, we took the opportunity to walk the dogs to the pub to give it another try. We were delighted to discover that the new landlord, (apologies but we didn’t get his name) was engaging, helpful and very welcoming. As we hadn’t booked a table for lunch, he tactfully and politely explained that all the indoor tables were booked, but invited us to go to the outside seating areas and order our food. Although the pub was extremely busy on this weekend, the gentleman remained engaging and polite throughout which I must say was a very pleasant surprise. The other waitresses too were kind, smiling and polite. Our food order was delivered in good time and was delicious and plentiful . Overall, this was an extremely pleasant visit. Not only were the landlord and staff pleasant and welcoming and the food good, they were more than tolerant of our two small dogs as well, for which we thank them profusely. We would definitely be happy to visit again. No complaints, many thanks. Highly recommended.

What a find in the heart of the New Forest. Friendly & helpful staff, great beer. The drive from here to Lyndhurst is stunning.

This pub is in a stunning location. It's good for walkers and cyclists, too. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the place inside and out had a great atmosphere. Well worth a visit.

What an absolute treat! Lovely tucked away sizeable pub. Great range of well kept Wadsworth ales. Food was excellent! Lively staff. Well worth a visit. Recommended.

Stopped for lunch on a very hot day. Sadly no draught alcohol free beer only bottled. Could not fault the two caesar salads we had, cool in the shade

Stopped for a quick drink after a walk. Lots of seating indoors and outside. On the edge of the new forest so you may see ponies wandering near. Car park which leads on to camp site. Good service. Friendly pub

What a lovely lunch. I had a club sandwich with a mug of the best soup I’ve ever had. Big thank you to Sue for looking after us. The dog enjoyed her visit as well.

Lovely country pub/restaurant in the heart of the forest and down a small country road, perfect. Food was really good and service was matched

We dropped in for lunch and a pint after a three and a bit mile walk around Appleslade wood. It is very welcoming with a good selection of bottled and draught beers, cider wine, etc. There is a good choice of reasonably priced food on the menu. We had the Hunters Board sharing platter along with a portion of the bacon and cheese chips which was great. There was plenty for the three of us all washed down with a lovely pint of IPA. Well worth a visit.

Gorgeous location in the heart of the New Forest, on its own, not surrounded by other properties. Tables outside under the trees, ponies grazing around you. Very busy on a summer's day but service was good and the Sunday roasts were huge and tasty.

Lovely pub with really kind and friendly staff. Good food that’s reasonably priced. It was a short waiting time for our food. It was very clean inside and has a lovely pub garden. Children and dog friendly! Came with my little sister and the staff were really amazing with her!

Our party of 4 called into the Red Shoot Inn for lunch whilst bike riding in the area. The staff were very friendly & the food was excellent. I can recommend the steak & ale pie it was delicious. We are looking forward to our next visit.

Roast was ok, had better and worse (potatoes pretty dry, beef mediocre, not too generous on veg) Have been to this pub a few times and usually a nice place to have a drink and friendly service.

I ordered the vegan roast and a chicken roast, one plate was twice as big as the other and the same price. The roast potatoes were rubbery as if they were days old. A poor effort considering the claims written on the menu about the quality and care of food.

We've just had a fabulous lunch here, very welcoming and friendly staff. Our steaks and burgers were delicious! We had two dogs with us who enjoyed the dog treats, and we were able to sit on the patio in the cool under the big sun shades. Thank you! 😊

Card only which was a problem for me as I had to ask a stranger to buy my pint in return I gave them cash.. Personally thinking this isn't a good thing as cash will always be king .

Very nice all around just a bit more expensive then a local. Pint, double JD and cheese chips twice. Over 25 quid.

Menu choice very good and food and service was excellent

My partner and I shared a Hunters board. Although the menu stated it included chutney it arrived without it. When we asked the waitress for the said that to her knowledge they didn’t have any so we went without. The meal certainly needed it to go with the pork pie and cheese so we were very disappointed. When cutting in to the scotch egg, the knife just wouldn’t go through it. I don’t know whether the egg had been over boiled but the white part of the egg was so hard and rubbery it certainly put me off even trying it. Also the sour dough bread which arrived with it was partially stale and appeared to have been put under a heat lamp or microwaved. All in all, not a pleasurable experience although the setting was lovely.

All good but... no cash payments. That kinda precludes the Red Shoot for me, going forwards.

Good old fashioned customer service at it's best along with amazing food. Very enjoyable experience and we highly recommend a visit, you won't be disappointed.

We have been a few times to the Red Shoot Restaurant. Each time the food has been outstanding, the location within the New Forest is fantastic, very windy roads sometimes getting stuck on the road as wild horses block the road, standing up asleep!

We stayed at the camping site adjacent, so this pub is a must to visit as it’s so conveniently on our doorstep. Food is good, reasonably priced and staff are friendly. We participated in the rock n roll bingo one evening which was fun. Very dog friendly too! Perfect to pop in for a drink after a nice long walk through the forest. The sticky toffee pudding was particularly delicious! Looking forward to visiting again next year!

We had the sharing nachos and sharing meat board and both were really nice. Plenty of food for 2.staff were attentive and made you feel welcome.

A lovely campsite located within the New Forest. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and as it was our first time in a campervan, very helpful in showing us where everything was. Laminated maps with instructions for local walks were available. Great on-site amenities - very clean and well maintained. The Red Shoot Inn provides good food and a friendly service if you fancy a night off cooking. A quiet and peaceful spot - would highly recommend.

Very friendly, helpful staff, absolutely delicious food and amazing setting with wonderful walks for before or after a meal. This is a very special place indeed. Had been in March on horseback and tied horses up outside for chips and a drink. Yesterday we drove and brought my in laws for lunch and a walk. It was just lovely. We will definitely be back.

Visited yesterday with hubby and son. Having pre booked our table the landlord allowed us to leave our car in the car park before lunch whilst we went for a walk. Very friendly and helpful staff. A very welcome roast dinner, drinks and dessert after our walk all of very good standard. Would recommend and certainly return. Thank you!

I really enjoyed our meal at the Red Shoot. We were able to choose our table, choose our meals then order at the bar. Lovely relaxed atmosphere we weren’t rushed. The food was great, good portions. The staff were friendly and polite. Even the donkeys put in an appearance at the window. We will definitely be back

Really friendly and welcoming camp site. From the minute we turned up to when we left, everyone we met was super helpful and friendly. The basic need to knows were explained. The site is clean and very well kept. The toilet / shower block warm and the water hot. There is a well stocked shop and the pastries (to be ordered a day before) very tasty. Our visit was out of the main holiday season so relatively quiet, a few children and a group of well behaved D of E teenagers. We didn’t try the Saturday night pizzas as we’d booked a table at the country pub next door. The pub again has some really helpful staff and a good selection of pub food. Lots of great walks and cycle ways through the forest from the doorstep. I guess the only down side is that there is little to no 4G / 5G so if you want internet access WiFi is charged at £2.50 per 24 hours per device which can add up. We only live down the road but wanted to get away from reality for a couple of days and this suited us perfectly. Thank you to everyone, we will be back again.

Stood for 10 minutes to be served, no staff whatsoever visible, such a disappointment as we drove a long way to sample the Wadworth beer which wasn't on. We have visited many times and this beautiful new forest pub has gone downhill massively.

We had a delicious meal meal here. Large quantities, well cooked and appetising. Desserts were just the right size. We are definitely visiting again. Dogs allowed.

All the staff were friendly, the food was delicious. It was not too crowded, but there was a lively buzz of conversation.

We've visited several times, this time there were issues:lukewarm steaks so butter remained cold, very poor service, we had to order drinks twice from bar during meal, no staff to take food order or check food ok/no staff to offer dessert or remove mains plates. Very disappointed for a special meal with friends.

Yes!!!! The perfect county pub!!!! Atmosphere, energy, character and staff make this a must visit. The food is so tasty and exactly what you would want from a pub. Many beers on tap and a drink menu for everyone.

We booked a table for 3 for lunch.. great menu.. we tried the truffle tagliatelle, chicken breast and burger… all were excellent and fresh…really fantastic food and friendly service.. a really great pub all round, good atmosphere , would recommend

Unfortunately the food was not the best. Think it had been kept warm whilst we ate our starters! Staff etc were all very friendly though with a nice atmosphere.

This pub is good but it could be amazing with more effort.
