Lovely pub in a great location. Staff were very friendly and the welcoming of dogs made it even better. The food was lovely and reasonably priced as well. We would definitely recommend The Red Shoot

Visited yesterday with hubby and son. Having pre booked our table the landlord allowed us to leave our car in the car park before lunch whilst we went for a walk. Very friendly and helpful staff. A very welcome roast dinner, drinks and dessert after our walk all of very good standard. Would recommend and certainly return. Thank you!

I really enjoyed our meal at the Red Shoot. We were able to choose our table, choose our meals then order at the bar. Lovely relaxed atmosphere we weren’t rushed. The food was great, good portions. The staff were friendly and polite. Even the donkeys put in an appearance at the window. We will definitely be back

Really friendly and welcoming camp site. From the minute we turned up to when we left, everyone we met was super helpful and friendly. The basic need to knows were explained. The site is clean and very well kept. The toilet / shower block warm and the water hot. There is a well stocked shop and the pastries (to be ordered a day before) very tasty. Our visit was out of the main holiday season so relatively quiet, a few children and a group of well behaved D of E teenagers. We didn’t try the Saturday night pizzas as we’d booked a table at the country pub next door. The pub again has some really helpful staff and a good selection of pub food. Lots of great walks and cycle ways through the forest from the doorstep. I guess the only down side is that there is little to no 4G / 5G so if you want internet access WiFi is charged at £2.50 per 24 hours per device which can add up. We only live down the road but wanted to get away from reality for a couple of days and this suited us perfectly. Thank you to everyone, we will be back again.

Dietary requirements catered for with plenty of choice which was much appreciated. Staff were friendly and accommodating without being intrusive and the pub is in a great location.

Stood for 10 minutes to be served, no staff whatsoever visible, such a disappointment as we drove a long way to sample the Wadworth beer which wasn't on. We have visited many times and this beautiful new forest pub has gone downhill massively.

We had a delicious meal meal here. Large quantities, well cooked and appetising. Desserts were just the right size. We are definitely visiting again. Dogs allowed.

All the staff were friendly, the food was delicious. It was not too crowded, but there was a lively buzz of conversation.

We've visited several times, this time there were issues:lukewarm steaks so butter remained cold, very poor service, we had to order drinks twice from bar during meal, no staff to take food order or check food ok/no staff to offer dessert or remove mains plates. Very disappointed for a special meal with friends.

Yes!!!! The perfect county pub!!!! Atmosphere, energy, character and staff make this a must visit. The food is so tasty and exactly what you would want from a pub. Many beers on tap and a drink menu for everyone.

We booked a table for 3 for lunch.. great menu.. we tried the truffle tagliatelle, chicken breast and burger… all were excellent and fresh…really fantastic food and friendly service.. a really great pub all round, good atmosphere , would recommend

Unfortunately the food was not the best. Think it had been kept warm whilst we ate our starters! Staff etc were all very friendly though with a nice atmosphere.

We had the most wonderful experience here last night. The food was excellent. My salmon was cooked to perfection and came lovely and hot.The prawn starter was delicious. It was delicate and light so as not to spoil your main meal. The crème brûlée was creamy and yummy. I could not fault the staff that served us. They were extremely polite and all our small request were carried out with a smile. Nothing was too much trouble. It is hard to get such qualities and I shall definitely be returning soon. Well done to all the staff.We will become your regular customers as we would love to support such wonderful places.

Food took almost an hour to come out, a mixture of reviews of the food, the fish and chips were excellent, the Hunters chicken was dry the two onion rings were tough pieces of over cooked onion skin never seen onion rings like that before! Maybe just a bad busy Saturday, we will come back and try again on a different day to make a final judgement.

Went for a meal with family and friends last Friday evening. Haven't been for many years and was impressed. Menu was excellent, with a great range of Gluten Free options for me. Service was brill, sraff were attentive and food was very tasty indeed and ended up having 3 courses 🤭 Gluten Free ale and larger available in addition to the host of others for the rest of you. A bonus for me was a live singer, which I enjoyed having playing in the background. All in all, I would highly recommend and will deffo be back for more.

The degree of care and attention during a clearly busy Sunday did not go unappreciated. The GF options were terrific - something a coeliac is eternally grateful for, thanks for effortlessly looking after our family reunion. Nothing was too much trouble.

Lovely meal for our Valentine’s lunch, very friendly service and really tasty food, it’s especially good for those that have gluten allergies as they have a gluten free menu with plenty of options. We will definitely be visiting again!

The Bar Staff were very friendly and efficient. I love a Sunday Roast Beef and Yorkshire Pudding, so it is normally always a treat. I was served a plate with most probably 60% fat and 40% meat. I have no understanding how ANY chef would happy to serve that??? I had two separate peope ask how was my meal. I calmly told them and they both just said “ Sorry about that” So unfortunately, although I am sure many enjoy a good Sunday Roast, I for one will not be spending any further if my money here. I am from Fordingbridge. I would have gone back again if it had been at least reasonable. Best of luck Martin

We had our first Christmas dinner out and choose the Red Shoot for location, price and menu choice. Each time I went to discuss the arrange, the staff were happy and helpful. The food on the day was hot, generous portions and again the staff were very good. Would recommend to others!

Great service in a lovely setting. We were a group of six and ordered various meals from the menu, all of which were delivered together and we all agreed the quality & portion sizes were spot on. Delicious food, well presented - and so of course we all had deserts! We only ordered 3 alcoholic drinks between us and 2 of our party were children. The bill was £170, which was rather eye watering. However, it was a special family treat & it’s not often these days you can go out for a meal without finding some fault in the experience. The Red Shoot team were all delightful & the food was excellent. Thank you! 😊

Stopped in on a Monday lunch time after a walk to a friendly greeting, a warm fire and tasty sandwiches. A good selection of beers and ciders. Recommended.

Very pleasant and courteous Landlord, made us very welcome. Lovely food and, increasingly rare these days, a lovely pint of beer served by a Landlord who knows how to keep his beer and deliver it to perfection. Top marks all round!

Lovely Sunday roast. We also ordered cauliflower cheese and pigs in blankets on the side, which were equally as tasty. House red was palatable, too. Very busy, but lots of attentive, friendly staff, so it actually made for a nice atmosphere. There was one irritating barking dog that would benefit from an ASBO but it's a country pub, and you know how ridiculous some dog owners are (even allowing it to sit up at the table) - not the pub owners' fault, of course; you get these types of moronic, overly sonorous, dog owners everywhere. Food arrived quickly. Pleasant experience, well done to the new landlord and team.

This is a lovely country pub in the New Forest. The food is excellent and the staff very friendly and accommodating. I was in a golden wedding anniversary party when I last ate there and the food was good and quick. My last visit was just for a coffee and sit by the fire after a walk in the Forest. The welcome was as warm as the fire. The coffee was not strong enough for my taste but was hot and reasonably priced. There's a large car park but it gets busy in the summer, and there are tables outside.

Great Sunday roast! Friendly staff! Great atmosphere!

We regularly eat out for our Sunday roast and this was nowhere near as good as others. In a party of 6 where we all had pork, most came without the advertised crackling and one didn't have the carrot either. The roast potatoes were not crispy and difficult to cut. The pork was quite good and the service was also good.

Nice pud nice area but the food terrible will not be eating there again had Sunday dinner and the dog ate most of it

Average menu but the food served was well cooked and looked appetising. Order at the bar - food served at the table but we had to clear the plates ourselves at the end of the meal waited quite a while for them to be collected. Overall ambience pleasant , but basic.

Really lovely pub/restaurant. Hiden away in the new forest but well sign posted from the main road. Ample parking, good outside seating area. Not a huge menu but good tasting food. Very reasonable pricing. Lovely staff, definitely worth a visit.

Nicely located pub in the Northern marches of the New Forest. Heaven for the cyclists and active walking on hills for the hikers.

Usually a great place but this visit saw us get the worst service. Over an hour and a half wait for a meal with no apologies. We will try other favourites next time.

Drove out to the Red Shoot for a lunch time drink and snacks. The whole experience was really enjoyable. The service and quality of the food was excellent.

Bang in the middle of the New Forest is this lovely pub run by a couple who also manage the static caravan park next door where we were guests for the weekend. We went for a late Sunday lunch after a long walk in the forest. I ordered the beer battered fish & chips and some mushy peas on the side. It was delicious! Happy to recommend this pub.

Really lovely staff, very friendly and quick. Was very busy so took a while to be served and seated. Enjoyed our Sunday roasts and it came out sooner than they had expected as there was a slight wait on food. Also very dog friendly which was perfect for us after a long dog walk. Will come back again!

Really nice roast for a large group of us. Friendly service, food came out quickly. Staff gave us a lot of confidence that they understood and took my son’s food allergies seriously.

Well kept ale would recommend the steak Ciabatta it was lovely,only downside was a group of well travelled people on a nearby table being very loud about where they had been in the world,and some of there conversation wasn't suitable in a public place let alone at a dinner table if going for Sunday dinner i would advise you book using the simple online booking system

We had a lovely visit to Red Shoot. The staff were friendly, the food was delicious and our dog especially loved the treats he was given. We will definitely be back soon!

What a lovely pub in a beautiful setting. We went for lunch and both had haddock and chips. The batter was light and crisp and the haddock very tasty. Very friendly staff too.

Had a lovely meal at the Red Shoot today with friends and family. We went for our friend's birthday and the staff happily decorate the table for us with balloons etc that we dropped off the day before. Everyone was very happy with their choice of food. I highly recommend the pie. It was perfectly cooked and full of meat!! Outside you can chose to sit out with the horses or inside the fence so they can't come right up to you. 5* will be recommending to everyone and plan to try out the camp site next!!

Dog friendly, pleasant enough staff, q for the bar which is acceptable for a Friday night BUT the food is not good. I had the Truffle cream tagliatelle, and not lying, it was awful.

Had lovely lunch here on trip to New Forest - our first visit to the Red Shoot since the pandemic. It was as good as ever. A welcoming atmosphere, good foot and very helpful and friendly staff.

Beautiful, very well maintained campsite. Lovely loos and showers and the best staff. 3 generations of campers couldn't possibly be wrong! See you next year!

Perfect place for a stop on your cycle ride!

We ordered 2 steak chiabetta, which were supposedly cooked medium to rare, it was so rare we couldn't chew it. So it was returned one dish arrived with the steak well done, but the other was still rare. We ate what we could. But didn't rate the food at the price we paid.

An excellent pub in an excellent setting. The staff are all extremely friendly and very hospitable. The music played on Saturday night by Uncle Jack and his band was excellent too. A lot of excellents which were let down a little by the food. I don't like to criticize a pub that gives such amazing vibes but they could perhaps try a little different approach to their menu. The Yorkshire puddings were amazing but the vegetables were sadly rather overcooked and my nut roast tasted mostly of what seemed to be a sage and onion stuffing mix so I was very disappointed. The sticky toffee pudding was pretty good though and the welcome from the staff made up for everything.
