The Woodside in Chesterfield

Visited again today, after a gap of about 6 months and unlike other reviews I have read, the staff were inattentive and the food mediocre. The mashed potato just looked weird and was very solid. Reasonable priced though doubt I would eat there again having frequented in the past when the quality and friendly atmosphere were above and beyond.

Staff are always very friendly and welcoming. Food is consistently good and portions are generous.

Just on a walk called for a pint on way home 😋

The pub had another great value offer on. As a result, it was quite busy, so I had a bit of a wait to order and for food. The staff remained friendly and courteous, the food was nice and plentiful. I will be back.

Pleasant Pub, good atmosphere good drinks and food, very welcoming and friendly bar staff.

Nice place that we found by chance on a drive out. We were not disappointed when we went inside as it's a lovely place with plenty of choice of drinks and the food smells and looks amazing. We will definitely be going back to try the food. The atmosphere was buzzing as the rugby was on but it was in the other side of the pub so didn't bother the diners, nice to find a pub that still shows sports but not in the dining area so you can still eat and have a conversation without the TV over the top of you.

I came to work from this pub last week and the service was exceptional, all the staff were super friendly and attentive. I was ther eworking from a laptop for quite a while and didn't feel rushed at all. I stayed for a couple of coffees and some lunch and it was perfect. would recommend!

Went for the quiz night, as we have done many times in the past. Microphone problems, a late start and winning two straight lines, we were told they weren't doing it as the rules suggested, which were written on the paper... 🤷 Nice selection of drinks at slightly higher prices than the pubs down the road in Brampton. It's a nice place, but the staff seemed to struggle a little, this particular night....

This is the second time I've taken my 10 year old daughter to this friendly and cosy pub. I offered to try a different place, but no. She was so enamoured with the food on her first visit, that she insisted we call again. She enjoys the all day breakfast. Minus egg, mushroom and tomato. She says they have the best hash browns she's tasted. Service was quick and efficient.. I was also pleasantly surprised at the (assuming landlords) openness and easy to talk to. We only live at Holme hall and so will be back to order another breakfast no doubt.

We had Xmas day lunch at The Woodside. It was the best Xmas Day we have had out. Beautiful food, great atmosphere and most importantly we were rushed as we have experienced elsewhere on Xmas Day. Our group aged 6 years old to 92 years old and we all thoroughly enjoyed it. Would definitely book again for next year

I recently came here for a drink with my partner for a drink as we were early for the school run pickup. It was almost £12 for a pint and a half of cranberry juice (I no longer drink alcohol). I find the price excessive and I lived in Central London for two years. When I asked for an itemised receipt, the barstaff seemed disgruntled at this request. The pub seemed clean and warm and the staff were smartly dressed for work.

Very long association with this place. The hands have changed but the quality remains good with some of the old staff still working. Visited after a gap of over a year. Still cleanliness is maintained and the quality of food remains same and good.

We've visited a few times, always really happy with the meals we order. Our most recent visit I ordered the vegan Christmas burger, and my husband ordered beef, both very happy with the quality and price

8 of us called in on the off chance of having Sunday lunch there. The staff were very helpful and the food really good would definately recomend the Woodside

We came for my Dad's 70th birthday and had a buffet meal. We had an area cordoned off for our party and it was great to have the space to ourselves. The food was delicious - salads, sandwiches, chicken, sausage rolls and quiches, followed by lovely chocolate brownies and profiteroles. The team really looked after us and even offered us takeaway containers to take the leftovers home. Thanks to Sue, Curtis, Holly, Jemma, Ieuan and Connor for a great evening 😀

Always friendly relaxed atmosphere fortunately they have kept the old staff who always make us welcome. The food was ok.

I had Puff pastry steak and ale pie. Well it tasted quite nice but there was more pastry than filling along with frozen chips and I guess frozen veg. carrots peas mainly. Overall taste was ok but for £12 not really good value. Doombar beer was ok and price reasonable. Another had chicken etc burger - he wasn't impressed another lasagne which was ok , and chicken leek pie which I think was ok. We will no doubt visit again but not regular as prior to Stonegate taking over.

Visited for evening meal on reservation with friends from the US. When ordering was told that they didn’t have three out of four entrees we selected from the menu including fish & chips. The reason given was due to the high volume of patrons the previous days. After making other choices again told not available. Managed to order one sirloin steak which was rock hard and inedible. Had to resort to hamburger for one meal. Other food was poorly cooked. Desert was not worth money charged. The waiter was pleasant and apologetic. Very disappointed.

Booked a table for 5 people and a high chair for Sunday lunch, arrived on time ordered drinks, went to the bar to order food to be told there was no Sunday dinners left. At 3 o clock. 1. You should have told us when we walked in there was no Sunday dinners left we wouldn’t have ordered drinks. 2. You should make sure there is enough food for people who have BOOKED a table. Although you did refund our drinks we drove round for an hour and a half trying to find another place that would take a booking for 6 people at such short notice. Nowhere did so my partners birthday was ruined we had to go home with our 11 month old son who was now very cranky from not having his dinner. His brother and girlfriend had driven up from Manchester for the meal. Very disappointed will not be returning

Booked for 1.30pm. Arrived 10 mins early and hardly any staff on bar so had to wait to be seated with my 95yr old dad. Usually short wait to be served but due to shortage of staff quite a queue only 1 bar staff. Ordered food and waited an hour. When it arrived cold veg, mash potato rubbery, roast potatoes had been fried and asked 3 times for extra gravy. Very disappointed as we have been here many times and had lovely family meals. The staff were lovely and I felt sorry for them as we could see they were trying their best. Shame as it's put us off going again

Went early this year, had one of thier burgers and was pleasantly surprised by how good it was. Pub was quite, probably due to the snow, but it was a warm and friendly place, will definitely go back at some point.

Lovely modern, well presented pub. The service was faultless, and the atmosphere was great for a family Sunday lunch get-together. This place has Sky TV for sports if you want to watch football or F1, etc, as well. The food was almost perfect bar for a couple of slightly undercooked boiled vegetables, but the Sunday Roast Dinner was awesome, especially the roast potatoes.
