4 of us went for an evening meal to mark what would have been my father's 100th Birthday if he was still alive. Good, friendly and efficient service, really lovely food, and, just for Mondays in March, 30% off the food bill. We each had...

I have eaten at the woodmancote for over 5 years on and off having mostly a great experience. Sunday lunch not a very enjoyable experience food wise. The roast warm not hot like it should be. The gravy bland and the peas cold. I did notice the next service after ours the peas were steaming, so obviously this needs looking at. The veg especially the kale undercooked and again just warm. The roast potaoe's were not straight out of the oven as they were powdery and tasted reheated. No stuffing or seasoning so bland. The carrots were nice. I did have a chat with the manager about Kitchen Hygiene and my comments were taken on board in a professional manner. Wednesday is stake night and on those nights its always been great. Staff are nice and the same very professional. Its a shame when its not 100% especially when it comes to the good old sunday roast. Two of us ate for sunday roast and i had steak pie and chips, all three of us had the same experience. The steak pie was literally luke warm and the chips very oily and the same warm. We will return but only because this review was addressed by the Manager and actions was taken.

Crab & Lobster

07/05/2018: Went on a Friday evening for a treat. Lovely place and very attentive service with easy parking. However the food really just missed. I ordered asparagus for starters and it arrived as 4 tiny pieces on a large quantity of cheese yogurt. Way out of balance. Bread however was very good. Then for mains I ordered fish, brixham sole which was lovely but came with a few potato cubes and bits of carrots. Overall very disappointing and not worth almost £50 a head including a shared bottle of wine. Gave 4 stars but was tempted to give 3 stars. We won’t go again.
13/06/2018: I’ve reviewed the Crab and Lobster, a real favourite of our’s, with great enthusiasm previously but a recent lunch left me disappointed. Main courses - a Selsey crab gratin and a trout with watercress veloute - were excellent but starters were rather ordinary. Four good mussels weren’t enhanced by the addition of a small piece of pork belly; slightly undercooked red mullet with cherry tomatoes was okay but fell well short of the previous standards here and could have been improved very easily.

The Old Greenhouse

09/04/2018: Carefully gauged fixed price menu with 5 choices each for starters and mains and selection of mini desserts or cheese. Good range and some unusual dishes - starters included lambs kidneys, partridge and beetroot salad, and mains featured 2 nice veggie options. Fish and lamb really tasty too. Excellent bread, masses of vegetables and thoughtfully chosen wine. Nik is charming, and went way beyond the call of duty, collecting 3 bedraggled, hungry people arriving by train, soaked by passing traffic. 16 covers in a smallish space so probably not great if your little ones need to run about but with that caveat perfect for any occasion.
16/02/2018: We had a really special evening! The food and service were excellent. The ambiance of the tiny restaurant (it fitted...
