We were a group of 8 for dinner, food was generally good and tasty. The standout though was the staff. The 2 young ladies serving were very professional even when faced with difficult customers.

We had an overnight stay in our MH in the car park. We called and booked our stay and a table for two. The team were very welcoming. Our food was very tasty and well presented. The only negative was the fish pie was not a big portion and not enough to satisfy myself and my wife, however it was very nice home made fair. We would recommend this lovely pub to anyone that are passing through in there camper or Motorhome.

Came in mid week for a family birthday and to start with we were the only ones there. Both staff on duty very friendly and happy to help in any way. Food was brilliant and attention to food intolerance was spot on. More people came in later on and the atmosphere remained the same, peaceful, welcoming and a genuinely good local pub. We’ll be coming back again for sure.

Not many options available as it was a Sunday and had been very busy. Scampi and chips were tiny portions and no garnish... Peas or salad isn't that standard? When we asked if they had desserts available we were told the kitchen had shut. Surely you'd think to ask this before the kitchen shut, seems daft missing out on sales. Good beer garden but food and service sadly lacking in finesse.

Went for a last minute Sunday roast dinner and was pleasantly surprised. We are relatively local and have sampled most of the roast dinners that this area has to offer. This was actually the best in a long time, with perfect amount of meat (beef) no fat at all, generous helpings of veg and decent roasties. The cauli cheese was poor but the rest was very good. Service was great, wine good and ambience great. It is not busy compared to its counterpart The Fox Goes Free, but personally I would rather this pub grub any day of the week. We will be returning for sure so they are definitely doing something right.

Also, I don't see tables getting sanitized for the next guest after dog slabbert all over. Anyway, the food was bland, no seasonings. Service was excellent. Yeah, no, the dog thing is disgusting.

Went for a late lunch on a Sunday and found the pub to be charming and quiet with ample parking. The garden is absolutely lovely too. Ordered Scampi and Chips and we're sadly extremely underwhelmed with the quality (clearly reheated) and portion sizes, given that it was nearly £20. Nearby tables did have roasts and they looked to be good portion sizes and quality. For a very empty pub (approximately 10 patrons there in total) I was surprised that we had orders come to our table a couple of times that weren't for us. I would go again, but I would not order the Scampi and Chips, and communication between staff members needs to obviously be improved.

Wanted a change from town so headed to the partridge. We choose this over other pubs that are very close as we wanted something a bit different. Unfortunately the food is very standard pub grub executed poorly. I thought it was all homemade but seems frozen and poor quality produce is being used. The Hollandaise sauce was horrific. The only saving grace was a friendly welcome and goodbye but not enough to make us return. Another bland pub menu isn’t what we wanted

Stellar service from Peter and the team at Singleton’s Partridge Inn (The Fox and Hounds as it was back in the day). Dropped in for Sunday roast last weekend, what a delight: the welcome, the beer, the food, the craic… all top notch, in fact everything you want in a proper country pub but don’t often find. This pub is the most quintessential English country pub you will find. I haven't been here for eight years, and the food now is absolute incredible. Staff are so friendly and helpful with a good selection of ales on draught. Very reasonably priced, and log fires give an amazing atmosphere. How it isn't the busiest pub in the area I do not know. Unfortunately our recent experience in The Partridge Inn in Singleton this evening was very, very disappointing. For a pub that sells itself as dog friendly it is definitely, our experience was that it is definitely NOT dog friendly! We had ordered our food and received half of our meals and had ordered cocktails to go with our meal, after ordering and being served the tart I was told it was not the tart I had ordered and the waitress had been informed wrongly by the kitchen, however, I accepted the tart without question! I then began to eat my tart which turned out to be burnt but again I made no fuss! We had taken our dogs with us to the supposedly ‘dog friendly’ pub however after the dogs barking twice for a very short period we were asked, very rudely, to put our dogs in the car! We had no car with us as we had walked to the ‘dog friendly’ pub so left! We would Not recommend this pub to anyone with a dog or who is not a local as it was quite clear both dogs or visitors this the area are not welcome! In response to the reply received from the Partridge Inn to my review left yesterday. Can I please make clear we were not given the options of taking the dogs in the garden, home or in the car, we were told, in an abrupt manner to put the dogs in the car! Also, they did not bark multiple times, they barked twice and were quietened immediately! Also, nothing about the managers approach was polite, it was actually extremely rude. And to finish, we obviously did not pay for our food as we did not get the chance to eat it. We have just been sitting in The Fox Goes Free in Charlton for the last two hours with our dogs without any incident or complain. Unfortunately you will not get the chance to welcome us back.

Lovely pub and food was great but was a bit disappointed to be told I had to get my own cutlery and condiments when they had just brought our food out to the far end of the garden. Visited on Sunday and came away feeling incredibly disappointed. The cheese board, at £12.50, consisted of three "slices" about 3mm of cheese and five biscuits with absolutely no garnishes except for a pot of pickle. The children's burger was equally shocking with a bun over twice the size of the most pathetically small patty (imagine a squashed meatball) you've ever seen along, no garnishes at all and some overcooked chips. I do not recommend eating at this pub.

Oh my dear God! If you're a tourist/visitor/not a local forget about this place! You'll wait close to an hour to get food served ( everyone else who comes after you gets priority). Then you find out your order has been completely forgotten but not too worry as 'it will be with you in a minute''! Ok so there goes food cooked properly since they are in a rush! Now to top it up fish and chips for which you pay £14.00 you'll get the tyniest piece of fish in the town and 16 pieces of chips! Counted! Go to any other pub in the area avoid this one! Update: manager was really nice apologised and didn't charge for the mains. Thumbs up to her! Mistakes can happen anytime.

Came here a couple of years ago and loved the atmosphere of the place, so came back last week when we were in the area again (both times we stayed in an Airbnb cottage on the lane behind the pub). It has recently been taken over by a new owner and they seem to be doing a fantastic job. We were greeted warmly and were given a choice of tables to sit at for dinner. The beer was good and we were really impressed by the menu. We ended up having three courses, despite not initially intending to, because we just wanted to order everything! Having been impressed by the menu, we were even more impressed by the quality of the food - what an incredibly skilled chef. My partner had the cheese soufflé and I had Jerusalem artichoke soup with pear and walnut granola. We both then had partridge for our main course. All the food was cooked to perfection and the dishes were well designed with complementary combinations of flavours and textures. I have no doubt that the food alone will build an excellent reputation for this place. This, alongside the warm, cosy atmosphere and great service, creates the perfect combination for the best dining experience. I wholeheartedly recommend this place we will certainly return when we are next in the area.

Very slow service. Mediocre food. Booked a table for lunch outside for 8 people. Despite the government's Covid rules saying you can now have up to 30 people outside, they insisted on splitting us onto two tables which were placed in such a position that we couldn't really talk to each other. One of the party was late, so they waited for them, but we had to ask if we could order some drinks in the meantime. After ordering the food, it took forever to arrive, with the main course being served 1.5 hours after the late person had arrived (the rest of us had been there for 2 hours). Everyone agreed that most of the food was OK but nothing special. The mackerel starter was good but, on the other hand, one of the main course baguettes was swimming in water on the plate. After dessert, we finally left after 3.5 hours. On the plus side, they can make many of the menu items as gluten-free... but it's a secret! It's not mentioned on the menu but if you ask, the waiter will produce a copy of the menu that's marked up with all the GF items. Why not just put those on the menu? Unlikely to return.
