First time visiting today. Warmly welcomed and shown directly to outer table for 7. Excellent, friendly service from young staff. Sunday roasts all round. Generous portions and all tasted great. One of the better pub roasts I've had. They do a smaller roast which is still a good size. Highly recommended.

Lovely country pub off the beaten track. Some very pretty areas to settle yourself into. We ate in the restaurant, whilst very nice it wasn’t as inviting and in keeping with the rest of the pub. It felt like two very different buildings. Whilst the staff were attentive I felt that their minds were elsewhere. No smiles, no warm friendly greetings just the very basic of interaction. The food was lovely with nice timings between courses. Would we come back, yes. If for nothing else just to see the staff smile and look like the customers were worthy of more than basic interaction.

I’ve had many a meal in the last few months at The Woodmancote and have never been disappointed with the food, service or anything. It’s such a relaxing environment and just perfect. I’m a sucker for the Pie of the Day - absolutely scrumptious. However, there are so many other tasty dishes on the menu.

Lovely, traditional, out of the way pub that has an excellent restaurant. There is some outdoor covered seating. There are 2 car parks, at the front and rear. The front car park holds around 8 cars - be careful where you park because there are accesses needed for surrounding homes. The rear car park holds around 10 cars. I think there's also a space alongside the building. Other than that you're looking at parking in the lane (personally something I avoid). If you must do that then I recommend parking on the left past the rear car park, getting as close to the bushes on the left as you can (drop any passengers off first - it might be a country lane but it's well used). If you're a little unsteady on your feet you need to take extra care, the car parks are just gravel and a little bumpy. The food is excellent, with good sized portions and always very filling, even the sandwiches. I highly recommend the pie of the day - never been let down yet! Desserts and cakes are visually very tempting, and I'm told by my wife they are delicious (I have little sweet tooth so don't bother myself). They can cater for large groups (we've had a table for 12 before now). The staff are lovely, attentive and patient - although at times extremely busy so you may need to reciprocate that patience a little at peak times. All in all, an excellent venue.

We stumbled upon "The Woodmancote" during a search for a different Sunday morning breakfast venue. It has become a firm favourite. The food is good, honest, not pretentious and great value. The staff are always friendly and they have a delightful dog called Tilly. Typically Two BIG English breakfasts with two rounds of doorstep toast and three coffees /teas was £24. The pub is oddly decorated but has a sense of fun that is apparent in the staff demeanor. Recommended Edit...4 years on. Still just as good. Prices have increased a little but nothing crazy. New dog. Worth a visit.

The pub was a little quiet but then it was Monday. The Beef and horseradish sourdough baguette was delicious. The Beef, tender and plenty to fill the sandwich. The chips crisp and piping hot, all as expected. The game changer was the pot of delicious gravy to immerse everything in! Perfect.

3rd year running we have booked in for the Valentines Special here and each year we are always greeted in such a friendly welcoming way, the restaurant is decorated to look very romantic and special and the meal has been completely delicious. We were greeted yesterday with prosecco, service was impeccable throughout and we will definitely be coming back. My meal was moules mariniere which was amazing (my husband had the delicious mushroom starter) followed by lamb which was cooked to perfection with lovely sides (husband had the chicken schnitzel which he loved) and dessert for me was panna cotta (best I have had anywhere) and my husband had the most delicious strawberries and cream cheesecake. We were so happy with our meals but everyone's food looked just as good as we looked around the other tables of couples, there was a lovely selection on the menu and a great atmosphere. Well done to everyone for last night. You made our valentines evening very special...again!

This is our first visit to the pub. On arrival we were put into what is called moroccan room, ironically!. Peeling wallpaper. Not sure why you would have such decor in a pub seemed out of character. Needed to ask five times for coffee. Eventually arrived when I needed to approach bar staff. Sat in room with large family extremely loud did not make nice atmosphere. Positive comment regarding food, large amount. Ordered steak and ale pie, received chicken pie. Would not return back.

We have been to the Woodmancote quite a few times. It is a lovely pub in the village of Woodmancote, to the west of Chichester. We had lunch in the bar which was nice and warm. The smell of the wood fire in the air. We had starters of Whitebait. It was a good sized portion and enough for the two of us to share. I had the seafood tagliatelle and my wife had a small sized lambs liver and bacon. This was just the right size for her. Both dishes were cooked to perfection. Delicious!! Julie was in charge today and her personality was enough to lift the spirits on a cold and grey afternoon. So much so I enquired if she would like to turn the fortunes of a pub on Hayling Island. We could so do with a pub like the Woodmancote on the island. Maybe the Yew Tree in the future?? Thank you for a pleasant experience. We will be back!

Oh dear, having eaten many many times over the years at this pub, yesterday's visit was a real disappointment - have you got a new chef?. Firstly the steak pie pastry was hard as a brick, my guests fish was in two pieces ( with an apology!) the chips on both meals looked and tasted like warmed up chip shop chips. Desserts also were disappointing, sticky toffee pudding was dry, my 'miniature' lemon tart which I didn't eat was inedible ( I wasn't charged) but if I had of been I would not be happy. If it wasn't for the waitresses who were extremely pleasant we both would have asked to speak with management. I hope this isn't what anyone will experience in the future.

We spent a delightful Saturday afternoon here with our friends and their twins. Dogs are very welcome and the overall atmosphere is cozy and welcoming. From the outside it looks old and a bit tired. But inside it's like a Tardis. Lots of really nice places to eat inside or to simply relax and enjoy your favourite tiplle. The food was good pub food. But as with all dining experiences these days it's quite expensive, so you may wish to keep this in perspective if there's a sizable group of you. The young serving staff were excellent and attentive and the owners a most agreeable couple of business owners.

food was excellent and for that I give the chef five stars... what I assume to be the land lady was very abrupt and actually rude. someone in the group was discussing something important she snapped at them to tell their waitress.. yes the waitress needed to know but she did not need to speak to him like that. The waitresses were efficient but sour no warmth never smiled or chatted other than replying, again bluntly as the land lady had.. there had been a tip added to the bill which I was not happy about as in my opinion the only person who deserved a tip was the chef .. Children are welcome I guess but as no warmth given even to them are they welcome.. we were a group of eight.. we all felt like tins on a shelf in the supper market.. would I return I don't know as I said it was excellent food .. the staff on the other hand was a shock .. didn't smile, didn't chat and had no warmth.. this I put down to the landlady as I expect they are to scared to say anything.. yes they were efficient but so is a computer..the eating out experience should be relaxing , cheery and welcoming.. this was anything but .. I just don't know if I or my group would put ourselves through that again .. all staff especially land lady need to have some training on how to remain efficient but be less computer like and be more human.. they do this then they would get five stars across the board.
