Really nice pub very deceiving from the front, really nice inside to have a drink and relax and the garden is nice as well, plays football and stuff so always a good thing. The beer is smooth clean and goes down nice if in area have a visit well worth it

Love the inside of this pub, full of character, and would spend more time here if it was not for the prices of the spirits and drinks, there’s really no need to be charging the prices they charge!! no wonder it’s half empty , used to be so lively and Packed out every weekend, come on owners sort it out don’t be greedy!!! You want the custom drop your prices.

Great wine bar feeling. Some good events and a lovely decor both inside and out.

Visited on Sunday afternoon around 6pm. Some excited customers on the upper deck watching the FA Cup game. On lower deck there was a Premier League game on but we didn't mind that as we'd just returned from a game ourselves. The sound wasn't on so we could chat to each other. We were served quickly. Two Guinness's and a orange juice. Cost me £13.80 which is similar to other pubs. We only had one round. The decor was charming with the wooden beams & a cosy feel. Great pub for football fans & non football when no games are on.

My Gradaughters Birthday was held upstairs, the staff were amazing, the Barman had only just started working there, but he was very helpful, polite professional and double checked he had your order right, great service.

visited sunday 7th jan 2024 lunch time ordered a roast lamb dinner when it arrived it was very nice indeed cost £12.00 enjoyed it very much. But need to update web site prices as it says £11.25

We had a few drinks with friends between 18.00 - 19.00 hrs. Nice quite place. We did not eat. Will visit again.

This is a little hidden gem. Great atmosphere an amazing garden with top service. Defo will be going again.

Every time I go in this pub not by choice, the beer taps have glasses over the tops signalling it’s sold out. Other times I’ve been in there and the beer didn’t taste right or had to choose beer from fridge.

Despite being packed on a Tuesday afternoon, the service was great, the food arrived hot and freshly cooked, and the staff were friendly too

Nice atmosphere, has that small village pub feeling. Sunday roast was tasty. Bonus points for being dog friendly!

Doorman are abusive and rude, grey haired with plaited beard, and man with dreads - shouting and insulting, abused their position as doorman, wouldn't even consider them bouncers! Not the first time ive heard about them being incredibly disgusting...if i was the landlady i would get rid as they make lots of people uncomfortable after a good night! Reviews are flooded by comments regarding this, get rid asap!!!!

Bar staff wonderful, bouncers literally disgusting. I get it, drunk people are pains in the a** and they’re just doing their job, but rude to every single person drunk or not. Tried to be intimidating (grey haired man In particular which was pathetic). Bar staff were accommodating as can be when dealing with security that clearly want an easy night. We had finished a show at the local theatre, just wanted to relax with friends, tried to make us feel uncomfortable, didn’t succeed but just sad that was their goal.

The best Sunday roast dinner we've had in a long time, nice and freshly cooked and generous portion.Very reasonably priced and great service. Would definitely recommend.

Landlady doesn't know anything about how to treat people. Obnoxious and rude, essentially keeping track of how many drinks we were buying and insinuating that we weren't spending enough to be sitting at the tables outside the pub (we bought 2 rounds). Just felt very uncomfortable and when she mentioned that she had to be monitoring these things because the pub was struggling, it wasn't hard to see why with the attitude she displays. Other bar staff were nice, but honestly I would just avoid this place entirely, it's not worth the risk of dealing with her.

Stunning historic venue in stunning historic unspoilt area of Carshalton ponds with ponds opposite. Large rear area too and vibrant and great place to go and very friendly with lovely staff. Highly recommend and great place to spend Friday or Saturday night, superb!

A lovely little pub with beautiful low beamed ceiling in the bar. Up a few steps to more seating before going out the back to a sizeable, fully covered beer garden. There is also an upstairs function room. The Guinness was good as was the Doom Bar.

Great place to have a few a bit later in the Village as is open later. Also really good for Sports especially boxing. Land lady can be a bit much at times but overwise a great place

Lovely pub very quaint oldie worldie old pub with lots of original features with a great outside covered area with heaters. Great theme nights too. Highly recommend.

Great food, very fresh, tasty and of great value. Ordered 4 mains and 5 drinks for £50 only. Loved the garlic bread, lamb shank, Mac n cheese and the cheesy chips. The wrongly delivered (and taken back in a minute) meatball and nachos looked stunning as well. Inside the space is quite limited but they managed to put seatings quite nicely. Upstairs function room for party only. Garden seating is quite big but with the current weather even with overhead heating you still need to near coat and hat. Staff and nice and helpful but I think a bit understaff in the kitchen. The only star missing has to go for the waiting time-we ordered at 15:30 and food didn’t come until 16:30. And the Sunday roast was gone by the time we ordered. Would love to try that another time

Lovely welcoming staff, very cosy and nice atmosphere, we came for a sunday roast which seemed to be all frozen food not fresh I didn't enjoy, baby changing would be great we would of stayed longer for drinks but went somewhere else due to needing to change the baby. :)

Went during the cold snap. It was absolutely freezing in the pub. Had to leave after 1 pint.

There’s a lovely atmosphere and most staff are kind however the landlady is nasty and verbally abusive. She obviously drinks and does other stuff on the job which brings out a very horrid attitude. I’ve heard a lot about her from others who have previously been here but she has made quite the name for herself. Because of her, I definitely do not recommend going here.

Lovely little wine bar in the heart of carshalton village. It's quite bigger than it looks with a fantastic garden. Has karaoke. And great parties. Excellent roasts and Christmas dinner all month, which was very tasty. The bar staff are lovely too.

Awful experience we Arrived at 2320 on a Thursday online states its open until midnight and it isn’t / the bar shuts earlier than it is advertised - really poor customer service when we did arrive 😩 don’t arrive to online times as they aren’t right actually don’t arrive at all 😂

Arrived at The Woodman and ordered a pint of Fosters and a white wine to take upstairs as was attending a birthday party. Once upstairs realised the bar sold the drinks we wanted so ordered another round. The fosters tasted completely different and had a strong rotten smell. Spoke the bar man who said no one else has complained and I know nothing about beer - great customer service - not!! Went downstairs to get another pint of fosters and compared the two. Clearly the beer pipes upstairs haven’t been cleaned properly. I really hope people attending the party don’t have bad stomachs as a result. We will be contacting the local health and safety official to complain. You had your chance The Woodman - your staff member clearly didn’t give a damn

Food was good, drinks good, but have to say the service we received from Tony was exceptional! We have worked in hospitalityfor many years and hes what we would hire! Great knowledge, great chat and a bit of banter! Outstanding member of the team! He's the reason we would return!!

Disappointed somewhat, that tonight, is our last ever visit here. There used to be manager visibility pre-covid … alas, she’s decided to leave ‘Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum’ in charge. Harry Potter doesn’t care and the other guy is just plain lazy. Quality of beer is good but the absolute absence of any aspect of customer service vs customer spend vs commensurate quality of service delivery is gone … if this were my business with these schmucks running the bar, I’d not be at all surprised when I went bust!! We’ll never come back here despite spending around £180 tonight, and are off to the Greyhound where (despite higher prices) one feels like a valued customer. The Woodman (PUB) ( not restaurant?????) is best avoided unless one has ‘long hair and a large chest’ and feels an essential need for the attentions of tweedle dum and tweedle dee. This is not a restaurant and never has been??? Better to spend elsewhere as we will be…

Went up four times for food and they kept closing the kitchen sporadically, also ran out of every conceivable beer

Ordered a pint of coke, chap asked if I wanted it in a small glass?! 🤦‍♂️ Empty and soulless establishment that could do with a deep clean.

We visited the pub on 18.06.21 for some lunch as a family. We always like the food at The Woodman and again it didn’t disappoint. However the service in the pub and the state of the pub is awful. All the staff are never at the bar, always standing messing around in the kitchen. Then they try and drop the food off at your table like some kind of drug deal. No offer of condiments or check backs to see how the food is. After finishing our food we sat at the table for an hour and no one cleared it. There was multiple tables in the bar and garden caked in glasses and the pub wasn’t even that busy. New arrivals were having to move glasses off tables to make room. Going onto the condition really comes down to the Mens toilets. Toilet seat basically hanging off which it has been for months. Dirty toilet with buckets under the urinals. We have come to expect that in the toilets here. Really really disappointing and a shame as we always saw The Woodman as the most lively and vibrant pub. We have spent a lot in there watching sports etc but it seems the staff literally don’t give a you know what.

This pub has an awesome vibe!! Fantastic Atmosphere as well as the doormen being very professional in their role that was being played. Bar staff very courteous and professional too. Big thumbs up get yourself down there on a weekend for lively night, Karaoke on Thursday too. I would recommend 👌

This is a real snug of a pub with low beams and a small garden with a lovely view of the churches stained window next door. Unfortunately, trying to keep up with modern life it seems to have lost some of its soul. With the likes of karaoke and football it can be very packed. There is also a small function room upstairs.

Had a wake organised but they didn't have any bitter beer which is what most older people drink

We arrived at 9pm and it was extremely busy with a lovely atmosphere and great music being played , we asked the landlady wether there was any spare seats and she went out of her way to get us seated and brought us our drinks to the table !! She was an excellent host and we’re definitely be going back , I can highly recommend The Woodman for people/couples who like to be around older clientele ie 30s 40s and 50s Regards Paul and Nicky

First time back since the late nineties and I can say it was great !🥳 love the new garden set up and the place was full of like minded friendly people and staff. Spot on !

Nice interiors and big outdoor garden in the back, great in summer. Average selection on tap - not wide, but good drinks. Football always on - can get rowdy - wouldn't go in unless your team were playing.

Great venue... but watch your head on the beams.... AND I DO MEAN BEAMS... MASSIVE WOODEN ONES! On the dance floor upstairs. The outside space is EPIC 💕 plenty of seating areas... Open... warm, Clean and comfy... ladies loos all good... well stocked bar and lovely friendly staff Xx

I was surprised to read some of the previous reviews, so thought I'd give my opinion. I visited with friends for a Christmas lunch. I'm sure that it was a challenge to cater for over 20 people but everything arrived together and all correct. Really, the staff could not have been nicer and the meal that I had was perfect and very good value. I wouldn't hesitate to return.

This pub is extremely over priced even for London. We ordered 2 G&Ts here (one double and one single) and got charged £18! We couldn’t believe it. It’s even more expensive than central London pubs. That would be our last trip to The Woodman.

Lovely pub and beer garden. Quiet for lunch mid week so lots of space to dine. Staff very friendly. Good lunch menu with sandwiches, jacket potatoes and baguettes then starters and main menu as well. Would recommend and return.

Good little pub, went for a friends event. Not great when the start giving up a booked area because they "had more punters". Would recommend for drinks, not so much bookings never had the chance to try food.

Great setting with friendly welcoming staff. The food was good pub food with a lunchtime menu added with dishes for £6.00 from the main menu. I had a vegetarian butternut squash tart with a salad that was surprisingly very good. The downside is the cleanliness, the chairs and tables needed a good clean at the least and replacing ideally. Overall a good pub just needs updating inside, or a least a spring clean.

9/7/21 Accidentally booked a table at another Woodman Pub in North London however they were still able to accommodate me Friendly courteous staff and good tasting Guinness that was fairly priced

Not good i'm afraid, there's so many good pubs in Carshalton, don't waste your time here. Service is slow, when the staff aren't seeing people to their table they dissappear inside, the glasses were dirty. I ordered food from a board outside and when it came I was over charged, when I asked why I was over charged I was told that the offer was for the euros, despite it saying nothing about that on it. Even though football was starting a couple of hours later I had allready paid and this couldn't be fixed and was told ' it couldn't be helped', by some miracle the board disappeared after this, burger and chips was served with no cutlery, thats fine its finger food isn't it? guess what, no napkins either. Gin and tonic comes to the table, no offer of ice in it, no offer of a straw. Not once when i was charged for somthing was i told the price. The kids doing the running round are nice enough, its obvious the problems lie with whoever is running it. Like I said at the start, there's so many nice pubs in Carshalton, don't bother wasting your time here.

Went here for my partners birthday with friends and we booked the wrong pub . The landlady was so helpful and manage to get us a table . She was so kind to us throughout the night and was very friendly. Would recommend this pub , lovely atmosphere
