NEVER COME HERE AGAIN. Had a big birthday celebration booked in for the marquee out the back to be told the morning of my birthday party with 60 guests arriving that evening that the marquee was unavailable due to no heating or electrics something like that, so got told we can have the bar area instead and they would shut the whole pub off so it can be private but they didn't! Throughout the party we had randoms swan in and out it was not private at all, I suppose they didn't really want to do that as the locals would not of liked it! The atmosphere was so bad because there no room we was so squashed up, they didn't bother removing any tables away so no room to dance we couldn't hear any music playing and half way through the party the music was turned off. The food area was squashed in the corner, it would of been a bit more room on the other side of the pub, I suppose they didn't want to do that as there were other customers coming in and out. I also ordered their food package and did not get enough food it was almost like they cut half of it out, we had some sandwiches, sausage rolls, spring rolls, quiche, cheese, crackers, satay, cues and carrot sticks, yorkies, we had no nuggets or roast potatoes or anything else there was definitely not enough to feed my guests! I had brought some of my own food, can't help but think that is probably why they cut half the food out, they said it was all okay to do that.. Also halfway through the party the kitchen staff decided to pack a doggy bag up for themselves to take home when half my guests hadn't even eaten yet! The food that was leftover (which wasn't a lot) some cheese and crackers really when I asked for some foil or a container to take it away the staff were very rude and said they did not have anything I said what about some cling film or something and she took the tray away in a can't be arsed manor and took it out the back. When it came to singing Happy Birthday to me no one came over because there wasn't any room in the corner! Half my guests left early because it wasn't a party vibe everyone just sat talking instead of which should of been get up and dance! We will never go here again as a family or pop in for a drink anymore! Something that was meant to be a big celebration and one to remember for a good reason, well it certainly will be remembered as a complete shambles! I don't understand why the Marquee was not checked a few days before, knowing that there was going to be a big celebration, at least then we would of had a few days to reschedule the venue. There was no way the bar area would of been agreed as an option as it was way too small for the amount of guests and I think the management knew that if we had a phone call on the morning of the party it would be too late to go anywhere else... I think it is absolutely disgusting how we were treated and I really hope this disappointment never happens again. All they seemed to be interested in was the money.

Very small food portions. Large meal was just 1 sausage more than a small. Not worth the price difference. We had about 10 beans. Food is decent though last time some chips were raw. The building is very cold inside. They use some cleaning chemicals at the bar which burns your throat and eyes. Edit. 6 months on no better.. Broken toilet seat in ladies cut the back of my legs. Reported to the barmaid who said toilets were not her responsibility. No sorry or offer if 1ST aid. Pub up the road packed at lunchtime. This one now almost empty.

Four of us had lunch today accompanied by our spaniels. We’d booked, and were in a comfortable alcove, where the dogs weren’t bothering anyone else. We ate prawns, sandwiches and chips, all nicely made and presented. Service was excellent, perfectly paced, and it was kind of the team to serve us drinks as well as food, so that we didn’t have to keep getting up and down. With eight beverages the bill was £70 which we thought represented good value for money.

As frequent travellers from South London to Hastings, we're always on the lookout for hidden gems along the way. Last weekend, our curiosity led us to the Woodman for a Sunday lunch, and what a delightful discovery it turned out to be. My wife opted for the nut roast, and she couldn't stop praising it—it earned the prestigious title of one of the best she's ever had in a pub, coming close to her homemade masterpiece. That's quite an accolade! I went for the roast pork, and the succulence was truly impressive. Even considering the late lunch hour, it remained wonderfully moist. My sister's choice was the roast beef, perfectly cooked with a slight pinkish hue, adding to its tenderness. The meat portions were generous, with ample servings of potatoes and the homemade Yorkshire pudding. However, I'd offer a slight criticism about the quantity of other veggies, which seemed a bit wanting. The good news is, upon mentioning it to the attentive staff, they promptly remedied the situation. It's refreshing to experience such responsive service. In the end, we left with the feeling of having stumbled upon a hidden gem just off the beaten track. The Woodman's Sunday lunch was a pleasant surprise, and it has certainly earned a spot on our list of favourites.

We always enjoy visiting this pub, either for drinks or lunch. The service is friendly and the locals are welcoming. Food is only served at lunchtimes, but you can take in a takeaway in the evening - the pizza cart outside on a Friday is a winner. The food is of a high standard and all homemade, I particularly like the pies and roast dinner on a Sunday. Recommend trying out this small village pub for a pleasant change from all the run of the mill chain pubs.

The layout is quirky, but charming and it always has a good selection of Shepherd Neame beers on draught. Although I would not change the decor (love the hop vines in the bar area!), I would say that perhaps it needs a little tidying and cleaning up a little.

Nothing wrong with this pub inside, and the food is good, it's very nice, but outside in the garden it's like a tip. Rubbish everywhere. They have some kind of hessian on the floor with bits of grass growing through it. wherever you look there are old barrels, broken chairs and tables, just utter mess everywhere. There is a marquee for weddings etc, quite why you would want a wedding reception here is beyond me because you couldn't take any photos outside without rubbish in the picture. Why can't the landlord tidy it up, there's a Council dump down the road! It's a shame because if it wasn't for such an awful messy garden area it would be a good pub.

Went there last Friday, after a meeting by the Farnborough History Society, and got there about 12pm. There were already groups of ladies who dine, and had about 3 pints of the IPA, very nice. Then disided to treat myself to fish and chips, cost £10.50, and IPA at £4.20. The meal was excellent, crispy batter, hot chips, and the peas were hood as well, so many cooks just cant be bothered to drain them first, but these were excellent. When I was leaving I noticed that the bar staff were all aged under 30, while all the customers were aged over 60. Not quite sure why this was, could be something to do with value for money. I also noticed there was a very sexist division, all of the ladies were sat at tables, and nearly all the men stood at the bar.
