I called ahead to ask if they were serving food since it was fireworks night. The phone was answered promptly and the lady told me they were. My partner, daughter, dog and I walked in and was greeted by a cheerful man who said we could choose where we would like to sit. We choose by the back door so we could take the dog in the garden. Tables were very clean and had a lovely bottle fairy light lamp for ambience. The owner even asked if she could come and say hello to the dog. We felt like we mattered and wasnt just a statistic. The menus were easy to read, and to the point. A selection of the most common variables were included which made it super easy to decide. Our drinks were brought over quick and our dog was even given a handful of treats.... amazing service. The food was delicious... the chips crispy and fluffy. Plates were cleared shortly after finishing. Wonderful pub, amazing staff and fantastic food. Will definitely be returning. Thank you so much everyone at The Five Bells.

This is an old pub with a good "Sunday drinkers" clientele. There were a lot of very young children in the bar most playing games under the tables but the noise level was very high. Unfortunately we had to have a table in the busy bar as there is no disabled access. Food was ok but not outstanding, mostly we had the Sunday roast.

Popped in to see how the pub is under new management. Such a transformation. Caroline & Chris were so welcoming and the new decor was very appealing both inside & in the garden. Good choice of beers & lagers. Food still to be tried. Only sampled a sharing plate with our drinks. Various events publicised. Steak night & bingo plus live music. Hope our local goes from strength to strength. We will be back.

The pub has recently come under new management and has also had a complete refurbishment transforming the dining and drinking areas into very cosy, warm and welcoming places to be. The lighting and decor is just right, lots of interesting photos of the village over the years mix with a very tasteful variety of other prints and mirrors Staff are happy and attentive without being overbearing and the tables and seating area look great with candles and single fresh flowers in tiny vases setting a calm atmosphere. We were a group of six and all of us up for steak for dinner ! - The main event on the menu for us, was the tomahawk steak, which was for two to share. All of us chose this as our main course. We had a mixture of starters, I went for he garlic mushrooms and this is where the magic starts to happen: It's often the small things that contribute to making a memorable dining experience and the team at the Five Bells pulled out all of the stops. The presentation of all of the dishes was absolutely top notch. Piping hot plates, beautiful garnishes and sauces with a lot of attention to details. Our starters were all spot on, but the big treat was yet to come. It's not often, that you experience a pub restaurant that sources it's produce from independent butchers and suppliers - All too often, the big catering companies we all know about, supply the majority of the standard pub fare to many places. Not so with the Five Bells. The tomahawk steak was the best steak experience I've had in many years - The quality of the meat spoke for itself ! A huge platter complete with a pike of fresh onion rings and on separate plates, fresh cooked chips together with a large tomato that had been steeped in garlic and grilled and a side salad - a home made Peppercorn sauce with brandy in a big gravy boat topped it off - Fresh plates that were red hot, kept the meal going. - The price was incredibly reasonable for this dish, I've paid double this price for far inferior experiences in 'named' places in the past. We all followed on with deserts - I had to go for my fav: Sticky Toffee pudding with custard...... Again, better than I've had in a very long time ! - Soft sponge without the craggy texture that many 'off the peg' places offer, a really great balance of flavours and sweetness, perfect size and hot custard without lumps ! HEAVEN ! - WE WILL BE BACK !

Still retains the atmosphere of a country pub although close to suburbia. I didn't eat there but had a couple of pints of one of the two real ales on offer. Sat out in the sun at the front watching the world go by a.though there is a large garden at the rear. Friendly service.

You never know what to expect when you order a fish burger, but if you want beer battered cod in a brioche bun with tomato, lettuce, and tartare sauce, served with chips, then you won't be disappointed. Good sized piece of fish and although the menu said skinny fries, mine came with fat chips which were really good and I got a side of onion rings, crispy and not oily. £23.30 for the food and a pint, and worth the money. Nice atmosphere, obviously a local pub but very welcoming for 'outsiders' such as myself. Within 10 minutes walk of the hospital, so if you are visiting someone there it's a great place to come for lunch.

I just want to say a MASSIVE thank you to Tracey and Hannah who looked after us so well whilst we were celebrating my Dad's life, nothing was too much and the attention to detail was amazing, they went round making sure everyone had a drink in order to do a toast to my Dad at the end of the Eulogy and found an extension lead so we could play a slide show of photo's, timed to the music they played. The food was ready for after the main events which was delicious and amazingly presented and they even packed it all up for us to take home. The Five Bells was the perfect place for our wake after the funeral of my father at Bluebell Cemetery. It is only a 3 minute drive and there is free parking right outside. The room is completely private with its own bar and loos so no need to go through the rest of the pub. They did a wonderful buffet with a good variety of hot and cold food, a mix of standard favourites like ham sandwiches and breaded chicken with some more unusual choices like mini cottage pies. There is a set menu but they were very happy to modify it. Choice, quality and quantity were all excellent and we were able to take away leftovers. Amy and Sam could not have been more hospitable and helpful. There is no charge for the function room, you just pay for the food and drink. Some of our guests had lunch here prior to the funeral and they said it was a great choice

My friend booked here for lunch as it was a convenient place that was halfway along a nice dog walk. On arrival, we were greeted warmly and allowed to choose a table in an empty dog-friendly area of the bar. Dog bowls with fresh water were brought out quickly. Drink orders were taken quickly and arrived very soon after. From the menu, we chose a wrap, sandwich plus onion rings and cheesy garlic bread as sides. All items arrived nicely presented, hot items were at the perfect temperature. Plenty of filling in both the wrap and sandwich plus they were fresh. The garlic bread was amazing as it had a really strong cheese on it, which was balanced really well. We also ordered 3 sausages to share between our combined 3 dogs - which they all very much enjoyed. Staff were attentive but not intrusive. Seating comfortable and pub had a friendly atmosphere.

Disappointing food.Had set lunch menu Waited 1 1/2 hrs for starter I had what was supposed to be parsnip and squash soup .It was like water and lukewarm. Not nice at all.Seabass was nice but it was a very small portion.Fig crumble very nice but served with such a small portion of custard about one desertspoon if that and crumble was barely warm. The worst meal I have had in The Bull ever .Somebody said to me that the food had not been good last time they went too.The company made up for it though and we had a nice afternoon. They offered us all a free drink and 20% off when we got the bill so that was a bonus. However, not once did anyone come over to us and apologise for the long wait and won't be rushing back.

Just returned from a lovely lunch at the Woodman. Group of four served by the friendly staff. Food delicious. Sea bass was excellent as were the other mains. Thank you.
