Great Irish pub. In Stoke-on-Trent it's a great place to de-stress and spend some nice moments. Nice atmosphere, often with live music. The pub is not large, but this is its advantage because it creates a nice, intimate atmosphere. The beer was good and the Guinness served very well.

After year's of living in Newcastle under Lyme and missing a good old taste of home, I have now found this gem of a Irish pub, clean nice atmosphere great service from staff and an amazing pint of Guinness, ( I only normally drink when I go home to Ireland) I will be back .

It's one of the best pubs in Stoke On Trent and, in the Hanley area, perhaps even the best. Friendly staff and varied beers.

I played a gig at this pub on Saturday and found John and the staff to be very friendly and the pub had a great atmosphere. Can't wait to be back!

This is such a nice pub and the staff are lovely! We popped in yesterday for a beer, which was spot on, really good. They were doing a Naan bag dinner thing, which looked cool and you got a free pint with your dinner ☺️ We didn’t have any food as we weren’t hungry but will definitely go back to try that sometime. Thanks so much for having us x

We visited the Woodman, last night to watch the group Mutton dressed as glam. We all had a great night at the Woodman. Highly recommended.

Great place to meet friends, good beer, cozy and kind atmosphere. The bartender is great, a smile on his face is always very kind and caring, each order was served with joy. I ask the owners of the pub to give the bartender an award, he deserved it! We'll be back many times!

Not a good experience , I was served a pint in a glass covered with lipstick , asked them to pour me another pint as I had not drank anything from it, and there answer was we can pour it into another glass. Eventually with lots of protesting they did do another one in a fresh glass. Typical low quality pub behaviour. Not a good experience.

Cosy, delightful, friendly and well entertained environment with friendly staff and delicious food. 10/ 10 from our gang.

Brilliant little pub. Loved the atmosphere. Options of Cappuccino/tea available as well as the usual alcohol. The night we went a band was in which played decent music (rock) again most enjoyable. Overall worth going.

Good real ale pub on the outskirts of Hanley town centre. Well worth a visit for cask beer or cider. Loyalty card a bonus for frequent visitors.

Came here last night for one of the Smashed Bros burgers. Which was incredible by the way! The Spanish burger I opted for, it was absolutely incredible... The fries were really well seasoned too. Great selection of drinks available. Highly recommended, lovely venue too, nice decor, friendly staff.

Never had a bad experience in The Woodman, our order is remembered as soon as we walk in (unless we decide to have something different) and the atmosphere is always brilliant!

Met a dozen friends for a Birthday drink. Great friendly atmosphere, awesome bar manager. Live music was good, interactive ... Place had a great atmosphere was clean and in keeping with a historic town pub. Great selection of beers and spirits. Regulars appreciated the efforts of the bar staff and collected glasses. Will definitely pay a repeat visit.

Seems a nice pub in Hanley, only been in once. I live in Newcastle so not always the easiest to get to without a taxi for me.

Couple of pints in this very pleasant pub in Hanley. No food available on the night of the visit but menu looked good. Very friendly landlord.

Having visited the Woodsman recently we discovered Richard who promptly greeted us with a most warm welcome. Never have I felt such a welcome from such an Inn keep such as he. Knowledgeable on ales and has an excellent fashion sense. Keep on promoting such a reliable and warm pub. Perhaps one of the more authentic and rustic pubs in Hanley. Keep up the great work!

Perhaps the best bar in Hanley. Fine good selection of best ale. Their Bass is very good. No TV and no music.

Always a pleasure friendly vibe the staff familiarise well with the regulars and always polite and efficient
