10 of us visited this wonderful pub restaurant for a Sunday lunch to celebrate my Mums 75th birthday. The staff were very efficient, friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. The food was the best we’ve had and nobody had any complaints, we had various starters of soup, goats cheese, prawn cocktail and terrine which were all just so nice and the main courses of mostly roast beef and pork were gorgeous, lots of meat and vegetables, lovely mash and the plates were hot! They even provided a lovely vegan nut roast for my daughter which she said was really nice. We only had a couple of desserts as we were so full and Mums dessert came out with a sparkler for her birthday and she got a complimentary dinner too. We all travelled from various locations in Yorkshire, Lincolnshire and Cambridgeshire and The Woodhouse Arms is definately our “go to” place for future family meals.

I took 20 friends for a Christmas Lunch and the occasion was made perfect by the delicious food, excellent service and friendly staff. All my friends had very positive comments after the meal. A great team.

8 of us went for my elderly Mum’s birthday lunch. We travelled far and wide and couldn’t have had a warmer welcome! 5 star food - Sunday roasts mainly and delicious desserts. Definitely recommend.

Yet another great meal! Staff super friendly, attentive and the food was amazing. No long waits, cooked perfectly (both had steak), very enjoyable. Also had starter and pudding, which were tasty and cooked also perfectly. Lovely to have a meal without feeling ripped off or let down, it’s also rare to have consistently high standards. This is one of many visits so I wanted to show my appreciation and hope it carries on.

Food and service is always amazing but drink prices are outrageous now.. £11.35 for a glass of white wine is expensive in London!! Would visit more often if it wasn’t for the high drink prices!

We visited the wood house arms for the first time for a date this evening, we have driven past it loads since we are local to the area and always say how much we want to go in as it looks so lovely from the outside. The food was absolutely delicious and presents so well. The staff were amazing and so friendly and the place itself is such a lovely environment for a lovely meal out

Nice pub which serves consistently good food prepared by actual chefs, rather than the ubiquitous ready meals served by most pubs. Definitely reccomend.

My wife and I had not booked, but were quickly found a nice table by the fire, and were brought our drinks virtually immediately. The menu is not huge but sufficiently varied to accommodate most culinary foibles. They were very busy as there was a 2-for-1 lunchtime offer on mains, so we did have a slightly longer wait to be served than expected. However, the quality of both - fried sea bass on squash risotto, gammon steak with chip, egg and peas - was excellent and the dishes were well presented. Service throughout was prompt and friendly. Would highly recommend.

This is a great example of British hospitality, a lovely country pub with a log fire great food and very well kept fraught beers, especially the Abbot ale which is one of my favourite beers.I’m only in the uk for a short time but will be back before I leave, probably a few times

We called to book a table on our journey up north as located this as being close to A1. We got stuck in traffic so ended up being late for our table but staff were very lovely on the phone and kept our table for us.Food was great, arrived fast. Good home made and hearty pub food. Great atmosphere, very cosy. Staff very attentive. Would definitely return if back in that direction, as pub is only 5 minutes of A1.

Three seniors and a lady of more tender years, booked a Monday lunch. Our welcome was warm, our table was ready and there is plenty of room between tables which is a pleasant change from many establishments. Menu's given, and the waitress knew what beers etc.were available, and they quickly arrived.The menus and everything about the table layout is undertaken to a professional level. Cutlery matches, the settings are clean and tidy, and even the dining table is of a good size.Meals arrived in an very acceptable time frame, and were imaginatively plated and to a very high standard, Extra sauces are presented on dishes and everything gives the impression that the owners care about their customers.Mondays happen to have 'special' deals on the food ranges, but pricing here is very competitive to establishments of a much poorer quality.An excellent country retreat that deserves to succeed, give it a try !

First visit to the woodhouse and what a treat we were in for, bar and lounge area are roomy, well laid out, clean and comfortable with a good selection of fine ales. The separate dining is of the same quality with piped music at just the right level, but the highlight of our evening was the meal itself, all mains are given a unique woodhouse touch, this is fine dining at pub prices, we are already planning our 2nd visit, must also complement the staff who are well trained and attentive, great experience.

When travelling from London to Durham along the A1,we always try to find somewhere with real food at reasonable prices,rather than eat plastic,microwaved,rubbish from a service station. Google led us to this attractive village pub,a couple of mile from the motorway.Fish and chips and a beef stew were our choices and both were acceptable and tasty.It was just about warm enough on the cold November day we visited,although we both kept our coats on.We would visit again,if passing.

On the day of our visit for which we had booked a table for two we had unexpectedly needed to look after our two granddaughters, at very short notice we asked if they could be accommodated, within a very short time the staff had rearranged the seating to accommodate us. The meal was great and the service wonderful. A first class service.

We stayed a couple of years ago and our return visit did not disappoint. We booked for the xmas meal which was excellent. The ambiance of the place is amazing staff so friendly. There are only 3 rooms and are the same lovely bathroom super comfy beds and proper milk in the fridge. This is half way house for us on our way up north and we will certainly be using it again.

The atmosphere & staff were great & the place was filled with christmas decorations & a log fire !! We stopped here by chance and are really glad we did. The food was amazing and the staff were so lovely they made the meal more special. We will be back soon so we can see it in daylight and explore the village as well.

This is a fantastic venue. Cosy and relaxed atmosphere. The food was delicious, superb flavours. Excellent value for money for the meals and drinks. The Team were excellent with service. Nothing too much trouble. Definitely recommend. Will be visiting again when in the area.

Chose to meet up here with family as it was kind of central for us both. Was glad we made the 60 mile round trip as it was every bit worth the effort. The staff were friendly, the atmosphere warm and the menu had something for everyone so an all round perfect lunch. Wasn't going to have puds, but we all couldn't resist and again were not disappointed. Really lovely lunch (the 3rd to celebrate my birthday) and I have to say the best. I enjoyed it so much I decided to treat everybody and pay, but was promised a return trip after Christmas so I'll be looking forward to that

Myself and my wife have eaten at the Woodhouse several times and it gets better and better. The staff are fantastic and we love the atmosphere of the place, especially with the fire lit. This time I had the fish and chips and my wife had the vegetable shepherds pie. As usual the food is good value for money and delicious! If you're looking for a gastro pub in Lincolnshire, this place should be at the top of your list.

I have visited the Woodhouse Arms several times over the past few years and it can be very good: I've had two meals with large groups at Christmas time that have been outstanding. However, I have been when it has been decidedly ordinary and Sunday lunch last week was one of those occasions. I was surprised that the meal arrived only a few minutes after we had ordered when we weren't having starters, and the food reflected this. It all felt like a conveyor belt and as if the food was sitting in the kitchen waiting to be ordered. The beef was seriously overcooked and, being topside, tough as a result; my son said that the lamb was very ordinary too. Those who ordered the pork seem to fair a bit better. The puddings were OK, but didn't really justify the calories. Also, a minor point, but I had particularly mentioned when I booked that it was my daughter's birthday, and no effort was made to acknowledge the day that was one many small things that irritated, such as having to order a jug of tap water three times before it was brought.

Having seen other reviews we must have hit a bad spot! There was a large party in and eating so that may have affected our experience but the food; sole and chilli and crab linguine were ok but not exceptional. Likewise the service was polite but not engaging. Our main complaint was having the run the gauntlet of smoke and vape at the entrance from the car park. Very unpleasant and perhaps the law of distance from doors need enforcement?

Right from the start we were impressed with the Woodhouse Arms, nice dining room, polite staff what could be better but excellent food which we got with perfect waiting on staff. Its no wonder its full most evening with diners. Even though its a long way from where we live we will definetly return, well don everyone.

I called for a Sunday lunch reservation but was not able to get a table in the restaurant area and was offered a table in the bar area instead. We were offered a cosy corner which was perfect for us, the service was very attentive service and great food with good vegetarian options both starter and main. Despite living relatively close for some reason the place had been off the radar and a friends suggestion encouraged us to give it a go! We were not disappointed and will certainly be back.

Eaten here several times over the last 3 years and never been disappointed. When I am lucky enough to have a driver the beer is also extremely well kept.

Called into the Woodhouse Arms having passed it several times and visited several years ago. We were greeted by friendly staff and seated in the restaurant which is very nicely furnished and spacious. We both had dishes of the special board Pie of the Day and Goats Cheese and Mediterranean Vegetables Quiche, both dishes were very tasty and the homemade chunky chips were the best we’d had in a long while. The pudding menu looked lovely but we were full so just rounded off the meal with coffee. Will certainly visit again and hopefully fit the pudding in.

A lovely country pub which I have driven passed on several occasions but not made it into! Went on a Fri evening and the pub was busy. Service was first rate with a great choice of dishes on the menu.

We arranged to meet friends at this lovely pub so a first time for us. It was a lovely pub inside, very rustic , clean and all staff were very attentive and friendly. We had a lovely Sunday roast which was absolutely perfect and this was followed by a Lemon Meringue Roulade. The chef certainly knows how to bring out the best in the food they are serving. We are definitely coming back for more and would recommend this pub to anyone but best to book for a table as it is very popular!

We found this beautiful pub when looking for somewhere to break up our journey from Norfolk to Derbyshire. It is just off the A1 so is a perfect stop off for anyone on a long journey. We had no idea when we booked it what a treat we were in for. Tom and the staff are so helpful and welcoming, nothing is to much trouble. Despite being a busy venue, the service was friendly and efficient and the food arrived promptly. The popcorn falafel was amazing and so was the steak salad. No room for pudding that time so we made sure on our return 4 days later we saved room. I'm so glad we did because the delice was to die for. Thank you so much for a wonderful start and finish to our holiday.

We meet friends here regularly; both travelling an hour or so. The restaurant/bar is lovely and the food always excellent. As almost regulars it is nice to be welcomed with a “Hello” and get a nice bright window table. [Moss]

I have just returned home after eating a truly excellent lunch at The Woodhouse Arms, it was our first visit there and it most certainly will not be our last as it ticked all of our must have boxes.

We have dined here many times and it gets better and better. Excellent food, brilliant staff and beautiful surroundings. We will always come back!

Last Sunday Mrs Cobb and I arrived for lunch at The Woodhouse Arms for Sunday dinner, I had previously booked a table in the dining room earlier in the week. We were told on arrival this place was no longer available, and taken through to the extended bar area, with hard uncomfortable chairs. We have been customers for the past years. It seems that if a larger group need a table in the restaurant you accommodate them first and disregard couples who booked earlier, One of the main reasons we have dined here in the pasts is because of the ambience the restaurant offers So if you cannot guarantee the table you have booked I cannot see any reason to book a table in the future. A very disappointed customer.

This the food in this restaurant never disappoints and Sunday lunch is no exception. Meals are prepared individually - it's not a carvery, with a starters at £4 and mains at £11.95. There are about 6 main courses available covering meat, fish and vegetarian. You should book as on Sunday's, it is very popular, There is a varied and plentiful selection of vegetables with the main courses. A highly recommended restaurant, with very pleasant and efficient staff.

Was taken here for my birthday meal and was not disappointed. Nice welcome from the great staff. Shown to a table right in the corner of the first part of the restaurant. Wife had a large Savignon (£5.75) x 2, I had a Diet Pepsi (no Pepsi Max on tap) £2.50. My wife had Sea Bass £14.95 and I had the Haddock £11.95. Both were well cooked, although I was surprised how quick they came out, but piping hot. Both were good, Haddock batter was a little greasy for my liking, but great chips and mushy peas. Add additional wine and a couple liqueur coffees so total bill £50.30. Restaurant was busy, but there was no hurrying up to leave. Highly recommended.

Our second visit here. My friend had the fish & chips, I had a couple of her chips & they were lovely. I had the sea bass with a lemon butter sauce, new potatoes & veg. The fish was cooked to perfection & there were 2 decent size pieces. The rose wine was lush & I had the best creme brulee ever. It was devine with Turkish Delight. Unusual combination but it worked brilliantly. The service was excellent even though they were fairly busy. I look forward to returning.

Booked this Restaurant to meet up with family members for Sunday Lunch.We were made to feel very welcome from when we entered the bar and all of the staff were exceptionally polite and friendly and at the same time very professional.

This is a great little pub offering classic dishes at great prices with some very good offers on for January. 4 of us managed to eat and have a couple of drinks each for under £50 and everything we had was hot, tasty and delivered to us quite quickly.

Popped in last minute with no reservation on a Saturday, very friendly and polite staff found us a spare table and squeezed our order in before a large party so we wouldn’t have to wait too long. The food was very nice, especially the rump steak and the fish. We will definitely be back.

We came here for a meal as it is very local for us. The food at the Woodhouse arms is beautiful, so much flavour and it does not taste cheap. In January there is a 2 for 1 offer on food so you may aswell enjoy some lovely food with good company. The drinks are also very cheap here and that is refreshing!!
