Absolutely fabulous and friendly pub!!! The staff Ben & Lauren went that extra mile to look after us! Both so friendly!! Infact everyone in the pub was friendly and chatty and the food was exceptional! Such large portions and all home made!! Dog friendly too! Highly recommend this pub. The best in the village. Can’t wait to return again in the future! Well done guys, a fantastic job all round and the staff are an absolute credit to you! Even the chef was a great guy and his curry was amazing! See you soon 👍👏

Don't bother, apparantly it's an Everton supporters pub now! We've been here several times before and enjoyed food& drinks, always made welcome. However on Tuesday night we visited with friends as we we're celebrating his birthday, he was wearing a red polo shirt on with a discreet LFC logo (Liverpool football club) One of the customers engaged in some very loud football banter ...& informed us this was an Everton pub!! I politely asked him to leave my friend alone as it was his birthday , he shouted F**k off at me & then left the pub. To say I was shocked & upset was an understatement as this man was very intimidating & beyond rude. Eventually a man who was sat at the bar came over & apologised. I don't think this was the landlord or a member of staff. If that's the way people are allowed to behave in this pub then it's Deffinately one to avoid.

We popped into The Witchball for a light lunch and on entering asked if we could order some starters as we didn’t want large meals. The barman was very friendly and just told us to order what we wanted. We were a family of four and we ordered some garlic mushrooms on ciabatta bread and my husband had the scallops which were cooked beautifully. We were glad we’d only had starters as they were really generous portions. We also had a couple of bowls of chips to share. The waitress was really friendly to the children and the dog and made sure everything was ok with our food. The pub is totally dog friendly with water bowls and treats on the bar. We will definitely return on our next trip and would recommend.

We are yearly regulars and eat here most nights while on holiday so we were excited to return this year and bring family. Our experience was terrible! Very rude staff who got extremely grumpy about having to pour a drink into a glass because the kids didn't want it in a bottle, slammed our bottle of wine down in front of us and rudely told us to help ourselves to wine glasses. Literally rude to us because we booked to eat there and they couldn't be bothered to serve us. Food has gone downhill massively!cold overcooked lobster, unwashed, broken and closed mussles! Will not be returning our custom. Such a shame because it used to be fantastic not sure what's changed but whatever it is needs addressing

Phoned 4 days in advance to book Sunday lunch after view various pics on the website and on Google saying Sunday lunch served today ect .😳 Spoke with a male member of staff and he confirmed a 1pm serving . So we waited in all morning because we were having lunch at 1pm ect . Difficult to find parking we arrived in good time and were seated and given a menu of burgers . Steaks and scampi and chips ect .ie normal midweek menu . When we asked where the roast beef Yorkshire pudding was were informed by a waitress that no Sunday dinners were served in this establishment in summer months . So we're were left with no time to find another place that served traditional Sunday lunch.livid and disappointed to be lied to on the phone 4 days earlier. Don't touch this place with a barge pole . Disgusting customer service and ruined our entire day to be fair .

Starting with the positives it’s a quaint little pub on the Lizard that is dog friendly, well stocked bar, reasonably priced for the location with friendly staff. There was 12 of us for an evening meal and the waitress worked hard to look after us. They ran out of steaks and well compensated one of our party who had to change their order. My steak dinner a rump cut was sinewy and a little over cooked for a medium rare, one of our party had pizza and found human hair in her food, my daughter had the half lobster special which was over cooked (meat was chewy and tough) and again found human hair on her food. Another of our party had the lobster special and sent it back for being too tough to eat. We were told they where a chef short and this may explain the quality of the food, but doesn’t make it any better when paying the bill. We are regulars to the area but won’t be eating here again, which is a shame.

Very nice welcome by the bar man, couple of very chilly pints of korev served. Didn't eat, but saw lots of very impressive meals come from the kitchen. Word to the wise; if you're 6' tall or more, make sure to duck when walking around as this is truly an old building with very low ceilings that add real charm to the place. Totally recommend.

We were staying in Lizard village for a week and were concerned that we'd have to make bookings for evening meals every night. Found out that we'd didn't have to book at the Witch Ball so that was great. They have lots of seating outside (wooden benches) and it's covered. It's a bit of a "rough and ready" place and the menu was pretty basic. No evidence of the locally caught sea food from Cadgwith Cove that they were advertising on a banner, though we happened to be there on "Steak Night" so possibly there's more choice on other days? Unfortunately we don't eat steak so opted for fish and chips which were nothing special but perfectly ok. Not sure if I'd make a point of going there again but it's useful to know as a backup if you end up being stuck for somewhere to eat.

Been here lots of times before and the food is spot on.But I've got to write this review as I feel that covid restrictions only applies to tourists who bring money and jobs to the area.As I went to the outdoor bar to look what was on sale, I was rudely told to go to the ordering area to order. I ordered the drinks etc following the guidelines that was posted in the area. Soon as I sat down, 3 locals went straight to the bar where I got told not stand without masks, stood talking in different areas of the bar without face cover leaning over the clean glasses chatting away, without any of the bar staff saying different. So I'll give this pub a negative review due to looking after locals.Don't forget cornwall, tourists make your economy grow!!

Me and my partner went here as my nanny has highly recommended it from when she went in 2018. We had starters that were over priced for the ridiculously small portion with a few salad leaves no dressing. As for the mains we were left massively disappointed as well, the bun was cheep and not even buttered, the burger was dry and over cooked. My other half had the steak in Ciabatta with was tough as an old boot and he couldn’t even sallow it! Again bread not grilled or buttered. All meals were served with a dry boring salad which consisted of salad leaves and nothing else. Also the family next to us had a main meal of mussels which were undercooked!!! Lucky he new they were he could have been seriously ill. I will never eat here again.

I suppose it could be the ideal place for a family - kids will love the burgers & pizzas (and no doubt many adults will love them too) but the fresh fish & half lobster with a truly superb salad and chunky chips was way better quality and much more reasonably priced than many other places. We were lucky that it was a sunny evening and we ate outside as inside is a bit small but there are some covered areas outside. They don't take bookings so we ate earlier than we normally would. They say that if you arrive they will make sure they feed you. we didn't test that but have no reason to believe otherwise. Definitely recommend and afterwards walk down to Lizard Point and watch the sunset and seals.

Visited 13th April 2021, one day after pubs could reopen for outdoor service only post COVID-19 lockdown restrictions. It was great to see a makeshift scaffold & wood shelter had been put up covering the outdoor seating area & what looked to be a temporary bar had been built to cater for outdoor service. After a lovely day walking and visiting Lizard Point my family and I attended this pub for food about 4:30pm, but found no food was available until 6:00pm. We decided to have some drinks & wait for 6pm. I think if somewhere else was open we would have gone there but because everywhere else was closed (covid), we waited until 6:00pm. I had a couple of pints of Korev & table service was brilliant. It was a great spot to watch the walkers coming off the point & back into the village. We had burgers & a scampi & chips, all the food was lush. This is also a 15th century treehouse and the most southerly pub on mainland Britain so it’s a nice little bragging right to say you’ve had a drink here.

If we had known our food would be served in takeaway boxes, with plastic cutlery & glasses we would've gone elsewhere as hubby wanted to take me to the most southerly pub for my birthday as we were staying locally. We duly walked up to the scanning station only to be barked at by the waitress that it was table service only & QR codes are on the tables. Fair enough but not a great start. You may as well put in a McDonald's style pay point system if you're asking customers to do most of the work. Be prepared to clear away your rubbish & wipe down your table.I've not eaten anywhere else where crockery, cutlery & glasses aren't being used with covid as an excuse. It smacks of laziness.Your only saving grace is that the food was good!

The poor girl on the bar could have done with a second pair of hands with an almost full garden but having to do table service in the current climate. She did a great job! Food was ok. Food was amazing especially at half price! Researched the witchball before we went on holiday and although not everything on the website was available (running a reduced menu) we weren’t disappointed. Lots of seating inside and out. If it looks busy outside head inside we always found seats for 4 of us. Very well organised and spaced out with sprays on each table for people to clean the table before and after use because of covid. Food was quick, hot, freshly cooked and delicious. We went several times and each time the crab and lobster were sold out so would have been good if they ordered more to have it available. They would definitely sell. (Othrntables around us also wanted to order them but couldn’t) Due to covid (or maybe it’s always been like it) they didn’t do starters or desserts which we would definitely have utilised and would improve their sales. The only other thing I would suggest would be to offer something other than fries with everything. Maybe rice, salad, a jacket spud or cous cous. The chefs are exceptional at what they do mixing it up a bit would give the customer more choice (and because we ate here several times we were chipped out by the end!) all in all a nice pub with good food.

When we looked this place up we were a bit underwhelmed by the menu and when we drove past on a Wednesday in August it was rammed presumably on the basis of Rishi’s “Eat out to help out” deal. However, by chance we found ourselves back in Lizard on the Thursday looking for somewhere to eat and having rejected the chippy (went there on the Monday) and the only other option (too expensive) decided to take a chance on the Witch Ball, and glad we did.Due to Covid-19 restriction the bar was outside, though you could sit inside if you wanted. As it was fine we sat outside and although it was busy we found a table no problem and there was reasonable distancing. Service at the bar was fine and when the food was ready it was a self-collection system with a buzzer but again polite and efficient service.Portion sizes were reasonably generous and the mixture of seafood (mussels and tiger prawns) and ribs thoroughly delicious. Add to that a pint of local beer and some drinks for the kids, all at a very reasonable price and everyone was happy. It might not look like much but the pub seemed to feature a mix of locals and tourists with a welcoming atmosphere. Don’t be put off by the cheesy website!

It was raining, busy and windy in our spot outside BUT so worth it as we were in our happy place, sitting snuggled under an umbrella munching fresh, delicious seafood and drinking local beer.

Amazing food and staff, we had some lovely meals here during our stay in Lizard and during covid, all precautions were put in place, one way systems, hand sanitiser and thanks to the eat out campaign, we saved a it of money too.

We really enjoyed the fish and seafood we ordered last week and it was so summery to enjoy it all outside in the warm summer evening air. The snow crab was so delicious (and so big!). Thanks for giving us so much food for such a reasonable price even without the government discount! We took the leftovers and enjoyed them the day after. Would definitely return if we are in the area.

My husband got a serving of racist vibes from an older chap behind the bar while placing our order. We gave him the benefit of a doubt. We then collected our food separately....the doubt was gone. Shame, kz the food is good.

Took advantage of the eat out to help out deal and got an amazing whole brown crab Chips and salad. It was amazing and would love to go again. Only sat in outdoor area due to CV19. Some parts of the business could do with a clean up as there are some grotty outdoor seating areas and the single gents loo wasn’t the best. Staff are friendly, quick to serve and food was quick. Like many places, the disposable plastic in use is disappointing but I guess must be following gov’t advice.

We were looking for lunch in Lizard and came across this gem. There were lots of seafood options, as well as burgers and pizza. I had the crab and tiger prawn salad, which was delicious, my husband had the pizza which he really enjoyed. Kids had mussels and a burger. The garden was lovely, spaced out tables and the covid regulations were really clear. A great little find and great value for money.

Stopped by after a major trail walk and waited for an outside table. Place was buzzing and full of locals - always a good sign. Managed to get a bench and ordered chicken kebabs, ribs and the crab. All were excellent portions and well-priced at around £10! Well worth a visit.

Enjoyed a family meal here, with 50% eat out to help out, it was a bargain. Our seafood was delicious and we didn't have to wait too long for it. Kids had pizza and a burger, which were lovely and freshly made.Very busy at this peak time of year so was a bit of a scramble for a table in the evening. Sign of how popular the food is though

Awesome Food. You are the best kept secret on the Lizard. Can’t believe how big your crab and lobsters are. The are reminiscent of the ones my father used to catch in the early ‘80’s . You’ve sorted the social distancing and have plenty of outside tables. The food is cooked fresh in the kitchen or on the grill . Well done guys we’ve eaten with you most nights this week and your sea food platter is to die for

Saw this pub when visiting the lizard. Was very busy and with its age looked attractive and worth a visit. Good corvid practices instigated. 1 lad had burger and chips which was excellent.1 lad had chips and scamp and enjoyed it. I had the crab salad and the missus had cod loin. Also ordered a separate galic prawn dish.Good was really good wasn't disappointed . Would recommend to others. When corvid buggers off I'd like to try the inside and get the history experience .

Post lockdown visit and wonder if the menu was very limited after covid. We only had chips and chips with cheese due to the lack of choice. Sat inside the pub which lacks atmosphere which is a shame given age of the pub.Nice chips though

Went here three times on our holiday break, well set up for the COVID situation.locally caught fish and crustaceans which we sampled and enjoyed.Often sat outside with a drink,my only bugbear was my wine served in plastic cup,so much plastic wastage but in the present situation I guess that’s what we have to get on with, shame though.Been to other establishments and they serve a glass wine glass.

Called in on evening and immediately impressed at the efforts they have made in these trying times. As usual service was extremely friendly and helpful. We both had fish and chips and they could not be faulted. Superbly cooked, first class ingredients and very generous portions. All at a very fair price - £22 for two meals and drinks. Thanks guys - as always we shall return again and again!

Went for the pub quiz. Total chaos! Sound was terrible. Couldn’t hear a thing and games were ridiculous and suitable only for the highly excitable of which there were many. Female staff are rude. We were told they don’t honour student discount because Newquay isn’t a student town?? The previous day there wasn’t an issue? Please see your own website, update if deals cannot be honoured and retrain your staff! Bottomless chicken wings are thrown at you when they eventually arrive and it’s a nightmare to get a reorder quickly. Wings are ok, greasy and very little sauce. Can get much better in Walkabout which is where I will be going in future. Avoid Belushi’s Newquay.

I never write reviews but am prompted to do so due to the excellent service we receive every week, this Sunday from Sonia and Tyler. We have been going in to the Wadebridge Costa now for about 6 months and my friend and I being creatures of habit always order the same thing; this week you can imagine our amazement when our order was waiting for us on arrival; we had been spotted parking our bikes outside. So a big shout out for the team who are always friendly and welcoming and the place is spotless.

Unfortunately this is not like me but I'm afraid I have to give this place a very low rating, they had no draught ales at all just said arriving soon, the place absolutely stinks of dogs and the gents toilets are absolutely disgusting the smell was overpowering, the barman must be the most miserable person in the world and is quite rude, this is the second time I've been in the pub but I'm afraid it will be my last, not a pleasant experience, it's a shame as the place has so much potential

Honestly, I was a bit disappointed by this tea room experience. It started off well. I was excited to see all of the tea options we’re from local tea procurers, MEM Tea, and the tea itself was delicious. Both mine and my friend’s strainers had debris from previous use when we sat down. The food selection was very interesting and exciting but may have worked better in theory. The best part was the mini lobster roll and most of the other elements fell flat in comparison. Some portions were drastically bigger or smaller than others, I.e. the egg salad sandwich was not much of a finger sandwich and more like half of a normal sized sandwich. While other elements were a single bite. The biggest issue is that there is a 90-minute cut off for each reservation. Im assuming this rule is leftover from Covid but it completely contradicts the point of afternoon tea. And by 1 hour into our reservation, we were being rushed to finish and feeling neglected by our waitress. It just felt strange and rushed, especially with so much food in front of us. For almost $90 per person (after tax and tip) it was really disappointing to feel rushed through this experience. Probably won’t return or recommend to friends until they remove the 90 minute rule.
