Booked several nights over Bank Holiday. Returned on las night to find sign still on door, room not made up. Receptionist was not helpful in the least. Thought I'd be pleased to know the room would be 'fully refreshed' next morning - after we left. Tried to fob me off with a tale of being short staffed, (not true) and that they had 30 rooms to make up. "You have thirty guests tonight?" No - four. No explanation as to why we had not recieved the service we had paid for. The manager was supposed to phone us, but, unsurprisingly, did not. Terrible customer service.

Went here on the off chance and had a reasonable time, The food was fine but my salmon was a little over done and was therefore a little bit dry. Really would have liked a bit more interaction from the staff, but they may have been understaffed. On our 2nd visit we were very disappointed, ordered steak and it was inedible. Sent it back and ordered different dishes, there was quite a big cost difference and they did not mention refunding our money. I had to go to the bar and explain that there was an £8 difference and could I get a refund. We will not be returning, which is sad because it has the means of being a great place to go.

We had my sons 40th birthday there yesterday, we all had a lovely time, the buffet food was delicious and lots of it All the staff were lovely and very helpful, well done everyone

I really wanted to give this place 5 stars. The food was good at a reasonable price. The soft play was amazing, the staff were really friendly. The only thing that let it down was when we ordered dessert. After 40 minutes of waiting, I went to the bar to chase it up. 10 minutes later, we got 1 dessert every 5 minutes (there were 5 of us). No apology, nothing. I heard the assistant manager ask the kitchen staff where the order was and the response was "oops, I forgot about that". This was a really shame as again the puddings were well priced and very nice, but waiting over an hour for them and needing to chase up getting our table cleared when the pub was very quiet was not reasonable. We were not the only people to complain and I could only see 5 tables of customers dining in. The staff really should have done better

When you’re paying good money for meals you don’t expect the get Smash potato on your plate instead of fresh, the chips were also terrible as it would appear it was the bottom on the bag and all small bits which were over cooked and not edible. I thought the staff were rude also. Best thing about the place was when you left the building. Avoid avoid avoid

Massive size carpark, On check in was told to wait by the receptionist as was on the phone having a Barney with the person on the other end . After 15 min wait finely check in all information given,lift to all floors Room was very spacious as was the bathroom. Bed a bit springy Shower was hot but not overly powerful Wifi was good Location on the outskirts of Selby not really much close by Would probably stay again if in the area as great value Breakfast not included but could add if wanted Pub underneath the hotel with good choices and excellent value menu.

Called to book card declined went home no terms or conditions given 3 days later took payment Lloyds bank said illegal what they did contacting trading standards as told by bank be careful giving your card details it was illegal what they did they copied of a declined card so can take your money anytime they want spoke to reception wont give there name avoid these scammers they even said my card never declined but it's on my bank statement go to a premier inn safer I asked for managers name but would not give it he told me at the time my card declined so something going on here someone is hiding something

Very clean room but tv too small for Wimbledon final staff friendly and kind.

The service was terrible and 3 of us had finished our meal before the forth arrived.There we’re no steak knives to cut the really tough gammon,and bearing in mind how long my friend waited for her dinner we were told at 2 mins to nine we couldn’t have a pudding because the kitchen was closed!! I spoke to the manager who shrugged her shoulders as if to say Tough.I would not go back there if they paid me. How they are still in business I don’t know but they really need to sort it out!,

Old fashioned (feels very 70s/80s) - could badly do with a facelift throughout. Having said that, my room was spotlessly clean and had all the necessaries. A little bit of noise from the road and a dripping washbasin tap, but otherwise a good night's sleep. Cooked breakfast came very quickly, was freshly cooked, hot, and tasty - and only £5.95 which was excellent value (includes toast, pastries, fruit and cereal too). Not perfect: only sliced white bread on offer, and the hot water for tea comes from a flask, which is never going to produce good results. Only giving this an average rating because the room cost £79 not including breakfast, and I think that's very pricy for something that looks so tired and out of date.

Food ok....my food was brought out but my partner waited a further 10mins for his. waiting staff had all had a personality bypass....no one smiles or could be bothered to communicate 😞

Stayed overnight this week and after a very long day I asked for a gluten free menu only to be told they didn’t have one and they didn’t do anything gluten free but they did do vegetarian options. I asked for the allergy menu and the bar tender was right, the only thing available was a side salad or corn chips but not a complete meal on the menu. I asked for nachos and asked if they could do a chicken breast for me. Although palatable I wouldn’t have nachos as a main meal. Breakfast was equally as poor, I asked for boiled eggs but was told they didn’t do them yet they had fried eggs on the menu. Fruit option was under ripe bananas, wrinkly apples or aged oranges with a choice of two flavoured yogurts. I asked for a plain yogurt but they didn’t have any. I wasn’t offered gluten free bread but asked for scrambled eggs which the chef made. Beds uncomfortable too. Staff were lovely particularly on the front desk who said they will look into having gluten free options on the menu.

The only good word I can find for this house is it's perfect name. In that wishing well I had sickening experiences, so I WISHed I was WELL. The mattress bed smelled like different kinds of old sweat. Breakfast would have been edible (not worth its cost) if they had tea. Or milk. Or toast. Or plates. I leave the rest to your imagination.

Does what you'd expect from this kind of place. We only went for children to use soft play and have a drink so didn't eat or stay. Soft play was a proper bun fight with too many Big children not really taking care of the smaller ones. Not many parents supervising either and no staff to monitor.

Visited for a family meal. 45 min wait for food but not so bad as the kids were playing and the grown ups chatting. 7 of the 9 meals came out... and it felt like the other two where forgotten about as when ,10 mins later , this was queried the said they where cooking. The adult fish chips and mushy peas all tasted burnt,not to mention it was no more than a child's portion, chewy battered fish, not good. The scampi was bland and greasy. The other meals where ok but not excellent. Shame , was really looking forward to this family meal. The 2 remaining chicken meals still hadn't come out when the rest of the party had finished eating. Took 25 minutes after everyone else was served. However, the manager apologised profusely and refunded the 2 bad meals. So all good there. A big 👍 to the customer service and politeness of the front of house staff. But maybe just a pint on the next visit.

We have only been for lunch not a stay over. But a spacious pub. With a beer garden and indoor play area. Good choice menu, tasty food. Great atmosphere and service.

It's expensive, but everywhere is these days. Frustrated that it took 14 mins to order a pint, but it was largely the customer's fault, not the staff member. Generous 4, but will go back. Would prefer them to be 5* EHO though. This seems to go unnoticed.

Just the afternoon dinning needs attention

Went here for some food after a 22 mile bike ride to York and back via the solar trail. This pub needs some serious work. The staff make it special as they are all super friendly but it's simply not enough. It's dingy and dated. The beer garden is it's best asset but there are loads of tables and yet hardly any chairs. The plastic tables have got cigarette burns in them. Plus people are smoking outside right next to the kids play area and where people are eating. I would suggest a designated smoking area. The food is overpriced for what you get. There are much better places to eat. We won't be going back here any time soon.

For the price it's decent. Stayed over for a business trip. Bed was comfortable, rooms basic but everything you need is there and the staff were all very helpful and friendly. Has a great soft play and outdoor play area if you have kids. Not bad at all.

Prices of soft drinks are ridiculously expensive especially when they’re not even carbonated correctly. Staff are absolutely useless and don’t even know how to issue a receipt and when the Pepsi ran out they just said we couldn’t have it as they can’t change the box.

Great place to meet up for a family meal. Large, tasteful venue with friendly staff. The pizza was a highlight. Rectangle in shape and freshly made, lovely!.

The kids area is the reason Ive been multiple times. The meals for what they are, are expensive. My mum had the senior fish and chips and it was so tiny for £8+ The kids portions were bigger. Service was very slow. Having to queue to order food is very frustrating. There should be table service or a way to order via an app say. Very disappointing service and food.

Stopped here for work. Ideal location. Plenty of parking, good WiFi, nice food. Will stay again.

Food wasn't brilliant my lad couldn't eat the macaroni cheese seemed to have been warmed up in a microwave my fish and chips were mediocre dried up mushy peas and tasteless fish the dough ball starter was ok

The coffee was very weak, poor taste and overpriced,the toilets were dirty and unhygeinic....won't be going there again in a hurry....

Meal was nice although very off putting seeing people in the kitchen with hair down and no hair nets very unhygienic if I’m honest its common food hygiene to tie hair back in a kitchen put me off my wont rush back due to this im afraid.

I had read the reviews before arriving and was a little apprehensive. Upon arrival we were met by friendly reception staff and found no issues at check-in. The carpet on the stairs up to the 1st floor was dirty with clumps of mud on each step. The room itself was spacious although a little tired looking. The beds were comfortable and the bed linen was spotless. The shower curtain was a bit flimsy and flapped about when having a shower. The power shower itself was great. The location was quiet and only heard one group of people arriving back late at night. We did not eat here so cannot comment on that. All in all a good visit but the rooms need a total facelift.

Fish, chips and mushy peas. Fish soggy batter, chips reheated and half inedible, mushy peas lukewarm. What’s not to love about that…. On the plus side the salt and vinegar were fine.

Stayed 4 nights, ate for 3,food was really good. Beef and ale pie was a highlight- best I’ve ever had. On Emma’s recommendation ( a lovely girl working the bar & serving food) it didn’t fall short - perfect. In a short time you were made to feel welcome. Sean’s recommendation of a lamb shank was spot on (( when I visited a local Italian -Sapporo )) So thanks for that. Alex a friendly chap and a few others whose names I never got. Away for business and although a bit out of town, nothing to complain about.

The worst hotel I’ve stepped foot in. I was inside the building for no more than 10 minutes before leaving with my pregnant girlfriend in complete and utter disgust. We ended up just driving 2 and a half hours back home at 8pm as there was no way in hell I would be sleeping in such a dirty, smelly “hotel”. Avoid at all costs. It may seem like a good idea to stay here as it it reasonably priced and looks fairly decent in photos, but believe me, it’s far from it. When entering the room, we were smacked in the face by a hideous stench coming from the kitchen area which was 3 feet from the bed they wanted us to sleep in. The sheets were stained and had crumbs and fluff in. And the carpet was old, torn and dusty. Sleeping outside is cleaner. No place for anyone to stay, especially a pregnant woman. And just to include, the receptionist could not see any issues with the room at all, to my amusement. Joke of a place!

Long wait, chips tastey but warm, not hot.

Shocking customer service! Reserved/payed for a room for my dad in November, he payed when he was there, not knowing it came out of my bank a few days later in February as it didn’t come out my bank till now! They didn’t give me my £79 back He payed £90 for a bigger/better room, shower didn’t work, he told a member of staff, she did naff all about it! Terrible and rude staff! Got proof of both payments, even shown them and the manager! Offered 2 free crappy meals!

I didn’t stop overnight in one of their rooms, I just had a meal there for one of my grandchildren’s birthday. Unfortunately there weren’t balloons up as promised. The food and service was very average.

I am not going there any more. First of all they should wash all the carpets in the soft play area because it's stinks. They should think about it. I am sick of it.It's such a long time I was there. Awful. Not nice and safe place for kids. It's a place where you can grab germs and bacteria. Very bad food quality

They now have a new manager she is excellent!!! The most,by far mismanaged pub/hotel in North Yorks, There HR management need sacking. Embarrassing! clearly under paying and over working their managers.I have Lost count of how many they have had. The food that turns up is absolutely terrible.here are some pictures from today. We ordered family Nachos with cheese guacamole,salsa sour cream and jalapeños it turned up as the picture will show(cheese and jalapeños)we also ordered chips with cheese,adults £6.50 picture also.How do you mess this order up,that was the plan anyway. We got our money back and went to spoons 5 minutes away.I will add there pictures.There the ones that looks tasty. Sleep tight hotels,how ironic is the name.

We came for Sunday lunch with our young children and really enjoyed the carvery and play areas. Kids were happy playing while we had a drink and relaxed. Staff very welcoming and helpful. Sunday carvery was really nice-loads of meat and pick your own veggies. We will be coming back.

Should have checked the reviews before going. Went for a carvery after a full day of festive fun. Carvery was out of veg, and what was there was either well over done or not cooked enough. Can’t fault how much meat we got but there only so much meat you can eat without veg. Very little gravy in the pot, and that was like tar. The tell tail sign for us should have been that everyone’s plates we saw who had the carvery were still full and uneaten. Absolutely inedible food. No one came to see if we were happy with our food. The poor boy behind the carvery didn’t look like he wanted to be there at all. 2 children’s and 4 adults and drinks was £102. Faaaar to expensive for the quality

Booked online for 6 people. Arrived 15 minutes early. Only two staff behind the bar. Queuing out the door. Didnt have a table ready so had to wait another 10 minutes. When a staff member checked booking she said no name was on booking list. Even though we’d had confirmation via email. Ordered food and it came two hours later minus 1 meal which we had to wait another 5 minutes.

If you want to eat what you order, within a reasonable time and with others at your table do not go here. Shocking. Appalling, embarrassing, rude service

Absolutely awful. Started off well, but then had 3 separate servers come over to double check our name from the booking as they’d sat us in the wrong place. Their attitude was disgusting and they made out it was our fault for being seated in the wrong place. Ordered bean with my child meal, when it arrived they were out of beans, so instead gave us peas which were still frozen! Awful service and food, AVOID!

Hi Please send this email to your manager .Firstly when my husband asked for a small Plate for carvery the staff member said just buy a normal one and don’t put a lot on . I have never had such a bad service and food in a long time.As for presentation this was awful. The staff, food and service was shocking . Me and my husband qued 20 mins with 5 in front of us to then see what shocking food you had. Beef dripping with blood. Scraps of gammon and Turkey . No veg , potatoes gravy , mash etc . Bottom of the pots mushy and looked vile. All empty we had to ask the server to fill up. This is something your staff should be doing . A lady was in front of me who worked for the hotel . She asked the very young chef if the beef was cooked as it was dripping with blood. She then went to the empty pots and said to me NO COMMENT and I work here. If you can’t operate a busy pub on a sunday serving quality food don’t operate at all. Also the vapes that belonged to staff behind the bar is a great view of your business. Expect several complaints because there was a lot unhappy and 2 people stood at the bar making a complaint as I was writing this.

Food was horrible service was just as bad one of the waiters just slammed the food on the table and walked away without speaking. The food that came out was either burnt and cold missing items or both. The beer was flat. I went to the bar for a refund the bar man just shighed and said cash or card he knew the food was shocking you could tell even he had had enough of the place

What an utter shambles, no booking when got there! Barman had no idea how to work till, what drinks were, what mixers to use and what glasses to put drinks in, got a seat in child area, so asked to move to adult area which was not made easy, ordered quorn mash etc got charged for extra three sausages, it was easier to take the hit and wast the food than to try and sort out, chips were cold when we got our meal, desert was brought out before table cleared so no room, was told they would come back to clear table but didn’t and the beer after being pulled went flat, must have pulled 6 pints down the drain to get one pint ! If u was you I would not bother going stay in and cook it’s easier !!!!!

The standard for what you pay for is horrific. The staff are so unpleasant. One member of staff male with his hair tied back. Arrogant, potentially first or second shift, so understandable why he was taking so long, but never once said sorry I’m new. Waited for about 5 minutes whilst he tapped the screens for some water. Of which is the biggest joke of it all. 2 bottles of water £4.60… Fair enough it’s a hotel restaurant, but not even 500ml they were 330ml water £2.30 each.

Absolutely terrible!we spent £40 on 2meals which was genuinely awful, my salmon was raw in the middle and the vegetables was soggy and full of water, bland also, my partners pizza was literally the thinnest piece of dough you can imagine and rock hard with barley any toppings, when we asked for a new one making they refused and offered a free dessert or drink which we declined....we will never be visiting there again what a waste of money

Walked in for a meal at 2.30pm, loads of empty tables but not one had been cleaned since they were last occupied. Had to sit at a table with napkins and cutlery still there from the last meal. On ordering our food, I was told this would take one hour ( even though the restaurant was only a quarter full. The food when it finally arrived was small portions and very average tasting. Staff not overly friendly. What a shame 😞 This use to be a great place to eat and take the kids.

The play area is perfect for my little one and the food is amazing, however they did run out of certain foods on the Sunday carvery. But all together good.

Booked the gold package “exclusive party” 10 til 12 only to arrive on the day to be told they had double booked and they had a pumpkin patch event starting at 11. They offered this to be available for the party guests - literally they put some hay outside with pumpkins on then provided about 3 pumpkin carver sets for over 20 kids 🤷‍♀️. Party food was supposed to be served at 11:30 and arrive at 10:42 - sent back to be served at the right time! Allegedly they tried to call me the day before however I proved to them I had received no call…. Given all the children had arrived we went ahead with 50% refund of the “exclusive fee”. Then it came to payment when the receptionist tried to tell me that the £50 deposit I paid wasn’t a deposit and it wasn’t refundable or deducted from the bill??!! It then took at least 20 minutes and 3 members of staff to try explain she was wrong, finally she agreed to process the payment the other staff members and myself told her was correct however continued to say it was wrong as that’s how she’s always charged…… so if you have ever booked a party here check that you got you deposit reduced for your final bill!, Gold package isn’t worth the money - face painting was one butterfly on the birthday girl only and peppa pig appeared for 5 minutes at the end of the party!

Had lunch here 2 adults and 2 children kids inn needs a deep clean smells like sweaty feet, then the food do not waste your time eating here ordered a curry it was stone cold took it back rest of the food was okay. Finished food ordered the kids an ice cream 45 minuets later and asking twice it finally turns up.

Absolutely awful experience. All the meals were very disappointing. We came for my daughters birthday and had to send her meal back and get a refund. The waitress (tall and brunette) was incredibly rude. The manager did eventually refund one kids meal but honestly it's the worst £65 I've ever spent and really put a downer on my daughters day.

We have stayed at Wishing Well many times over the years. It is very tired looking & needs a complete update. Hallway carpets fraying & trip hazard. The accessible room does NOT have a wet room or a floor shower only a shower over a bath How does a wheelchair user or a person with mobilty difficulties have a shower? Evidently is is accessible because it’s on ground floor and has a handrail in bathroom !! The staff were helpful and friendly. A special mention to Jack on reception desk. Jack was very helpful & friendly with a few questions we had, even after doing a double shift! The food was ok & edible although cooked breakfast being brought to the table whilst still eating cereal wasn’t great so cold hot meal had as no offer to put it in the warmer even when comment made! No orange juice just apple & a strange tasting tropical juice! Not even Yorkshire tea available! No Dairy Free Ice cream or Sorbet (glad I wasn’t a disappointed child!) Not stayed in a hotel where you couldn’t charge meals/drinks to room was told it’s because people don’t pay But they have card details to charge to! We would stay again as there is very little choice of hotel accommodation when visiting family in Selby.

Just had a hot chocolate,arrived with no cream marshmallows or chocolate sprinkles. I complained and this was rectified. Tasted very watery,worst hot chocolate I've ever had. A waste of £3.15

I would give this 5 stars but our only let down was the restaurant didn't have half the items on the menu. Otherwise great value for money, easy check in, clean rooms.

Absolutely disgusting place . The place needs a very good deep clean it vile. The carvery is Absolutely shocking never seen anything like ot before all dried up and tasteless. We couldn't eat it and just left it and went over to Drax carvery . Don't waste your money or time people. Never again the food is not even fit for animal feed

Truly the worst experience We've ever had in any restaurant. Ordered at 6.45. 7.30 meals come out unfortunately wrong order. Food finally arrived at 7.45 and somehow it was stone cold!! Was offered to have it heated up or a refund minus the soft drinks...

Stayed here for a couple of nights....lovely accommodating staff....ask for an iron and board and it was at our room in minutes. It is a chain of motels, so you are pretty sure of what you will get. Large room with comfy bed and spotless...

The food was good there was six people all the food came out at the same time and even the chef to see if everything was okay and apologised for the slight delay definitely be going back

Terrible service, We arrived at 11 and asked when the main meals were being served to which they said “now” ordered two adult meals and 2 children’s spaghetti and meatballs 40 minutes later they came to tell us they didn’t have meatballs and main meals...

Firstly a positive, great homemade chips, a tasty gravy & my husbands lasagna was ok. However, I had the so called "homemade" steak & ale pie & it was awful. There was a lovely puff pastry lid but the filling was dry with a vinegar...

We needed last minute accommodation for a family event..... absolute waste of money. The Reception guy was nice - we arrived very late due to many commitments... The room was average - both had bathroom dirt and the beds had dirt as did the floor......
