Caffe Nero in Selby

The staff really make this place a friendly atmosphere with great coffee.

Service was terrible. 4 Baristas behind the bar. Two were just chatting other two were just been very slow. There was about 8 people in the queue. I was waiting 20 minutes to be served. I'm a Master Barista myself. Was actually trained by Cafe Nero over 20 year's ago. In that 20 minutes. I could have served 20 people +. And have. The worst Cafe Nero I have ever been in. The two lad's just chatting. I wouldn't hesitate in sacking them. The coffee tasted like treacle. Terrible. If a could give No stars I would.

Very friendly patient staff. Enjoyed my visit. Just very busy and lots of messy tables but staff were busy seeing to customers

Not dog friendly… Bought drinks & we have a small puppy who has anxiety so he sat on my partners lap. Rudely told to put him on floor as it’s apparently health & safety nonsense. I’ve worked in hospitality for 20 years. I would suggest head office to look into the angry rude manager

Took almost 30 mins to que and sit for a coffee. Only 2 staff members for a Sunday lunch every table was dirty full of cups. The whole building was very tired crubby the walk to the toilet you can see years of build up of dirt then in the actual toilets just so dirty 🤢my 1st time in a cafe Nero definitely will not be heading back anytime soon 😖

Absolutely the worst caffé nero i ever been. Disgusting toilets, dirty tables, two lazy bartenders... The whole bar and around the coffee machine area was unbelievable... So dirty!!!! The place wasn't even busy when we were there. Never ever!

Lovely cappuccino at 8.25am. Service was great and they warmed my pain au chocolat to perfection

I was there 8th January and did not like my experience at all. The staff seem to have been very flustered, not knowing where things were and took way too long to make my coffee and serve others. It wasn't busy at all when we were there. The 2 staff actually working seemed new and students, so maybe why it was as it was, I take it the manager was there, but took no interest in anything and left the staff to it and left the coffee shop. The place looked on the grubby side and the toilets were not clean at all. I think Nero is the best high street coffee shop, but mine and my partners brews were not the best, trainee barista staff possibly, so maybe why it was not the best. We did go in 2 other Neros on our stay and they were a whole lot better in every way.

This was a non-visit. I waited in line for more than ten minutes to be served, with perhaps another ten minutes likely. Then I saw them serve a customer with Hot Chocolate and I realised this was just a hot powdery milk shake. Caffe Nero used to make a Chocolate Milano which was sourced from a dark chocolate liquid kept in the fridge. Then I realised this product is no longer served so I quit the queue and went home.

Quick service however couldn't stop as not enough staff on so was get served and leave the staff off were do lovely but rushed off their feet bless them

Staff were very slow and too busy chatting to one another..service terrible. Question were long..tables not cleaned had to move pots myself to sit down.

Like all Nero's they don't mind having a long que... If you want a quick takeaway go elsewhere. But it is a nice place and the staff are good so I keep going back.

What can I say, coffee great as always but filthy tables, had to clear our own, lots of cups etc not collected, should never have to clear the tables yourself. We (4 of us) would not have eaten here. The toilet was disgusting, you'd think that post covid it would be all important, top of the agenda, to keep things clean. And cafe Nero do not sell a decaff coffee...... Who knew!

Coffee was nice but the toilet is the worst and most dirty and smelly I have encountered in a long time and a real surprise in a big chain such as Nero. The soap dispenser was empty and the refill soap bag simply sitting in a basket on the back of the toilet.

We went in for coffee and croissant and the ladies toilet upstairs was out of use so I used the disabled one downstairs, I was shocked by the state of it it was filthy paper all over the floor dirty wash basin ,it looked like it hadn't been cleaned for weeks

As is typical with lots of Nero coffee shops nowadays, the place itself was a little grubby and toilets were disgusting. Staff seemed quite disorganised and were slow serving despite there being three staff behind the counter and one more clearing tables (although there were lots of tables hadn't been cleared). The staff also seemed quite unhappy. On a positive note, the coffee was delicious!

Awful experience. Plain and simple I got stolen there. And they didn't even cared. I was having breakfast, went to the toilet for a minute and when I came back my tray was gone, an old lady was sitting in my place and my umbrella was gone. Apparently no one knew anything. They didn't even cared about my situation. First they told me that someone might have moved my tray and things.. Then a waiter confessed that she took it away. But nothing from my substracted item. That's all it took 1 min. So I will avoid going there. If it was not the staff it was the old lady.. Anyway.. Not a pleasant place to be. Better go anywhere else

This cafe Nero was just as good as all the other's I have been to. The reason I gave it four stars is that it was a very warm day in York and the air conditioning was either broken of switched off.

Not enough staff so had quite a wait. The cakes made up for the wait, delicious.

This is my "go to" coffee place in York. Coffee is lovely, the venue itself is cosy and relaxing and the staff are always excellent. Another added bonus is this particular branch is dog friendly. I had my dog with me months ago (who is blind) and tied him outside, I was in the queue constantly keeping an eye on him when the staff said dogs were allowed in. I rang up this morning to check they're dog friendly still as I'm planning to go there and they are, which is amazing. They are currently understaffed I believe so sometimes the queue is slow to move, however most places are like that and the staff do an excellent job of keeping up with customers.

The hot chocolate was very nice and the cake was delicious.

I know I should visit local independents, but the coffee at Caffè Nero is always excellent. They do large sizes, tasty decaf & yummy panini & chocolate cake. This branch is no exception. Plenty of seats & 2 toilets. What’s not to like?
