Staff not friendly nobody checked if the food was satisfactory or would like more drinks. My wife is blind no help or consideration from staff would been nice to offered a better illuminated position but no. My wife had a burger which she highly rated, I had 11 oz sirloin steak which was very fatty probably about 4oz of fat for £35 I expected a much better steak. Because of the lack of attention at the end of the meal we went up to the bar to pay after waiting 20 minutes at the table. I can’t imagine what the service is like when they are busy !

Longstore ,change it to Longwait. Visited at 5pm when it opened , first in sat down . Empty restaurant, we order 2 steaks dishes and carafe of wine . We waited , table of 6 came in 5 Mins later . We waited and waited , 30 mins , asked where was the steaks, came back with an offering of fried skins and explanation of chef overcooked steak. However table of 6 got served their dishes so we were not prioritised , front of house didn’t perform their job of why we were not being served earlier . Very disappointed , we walked out couldn’t wait and longer . What is bad is they were not busy , the front of house not on the ball at all , not up to their job description.

What a cool little gem of a place. We loved the chilled laid back vibe of the cellar - great cocktails, and a friendly host behind the counter. With everything being bigger and busier - it was nice to chill, drink some cocktails and wine whilst enjoying the same food as was available from the longstore above. Well slightly different in not having the ‘cuts’, but just lovely.

Review for The Longstore, Charlestown My wife and I had an incredible dining experience at The Longstore in Charlestown. We visited on a Wednesday evening at 8:15 pm, and despite the restaurant being busy for a weekday, the service was outstanding. We both ordered the Sirloin Steak with Skinny Fries and a side of Mac & Cheese, and everything was cooked to perfection. The steak was full of flavor, beautifully seared, and tender, while the fries were crisp and well-seasoned. The Mac & Cheese was rich, creamy, and the perfect indulgent side. A special mention to Katie, who served us with such warmth and professionalism. Even with the restaurant bustling, she made sure we were well taken care of, adding to the overall fantastic experience. The Longstore truly delivers on both food quality and service. If you’re in Charlestown and looking for an amazing steak, this is the place to go! Highly recommended.

Had a lovely time on Friday evening, food was excellent and our waitress Chloe handled our table of fifteen people with ease.

Lovely space, friendly and helpful staff. Extensive menu and everything we ordered was tasty and well presented. My one reservation when booking was that it sounded like a steak house and as a vegetarian I worried that the smell would be off putting for me; however there was no smell of steaks and I was very happy and surprised to see that the specials board contained some vegetarian specials - wild mushroom Ragu with nochi and a butternut squash ravioli. Choice of a house side to go with main courses is a great idea- the chips and the sweet potatoes were both great. We will happily go back.

Party of 6 for birthday and Christmas celebrations - fantastic food couldn’t fault the food or the service! What a lush anniversary dinner we had mid October - it was mid week, and all the diners on one side of the restaurant. This worked really well. Really decent vibe - the waitress was just lovely, and even wished us a happy anniversary when we arrived. Really had a lovely meal - probably the best we’ve had at the longstore. Can’t describe why it was - but everything was just perfect with the food, service and made for a fantastic last minute anniversary dinner. That and the bottle of Malbec which was mighty fine.

You want cocktails...then come here they are brilliant and this cosy little bar is just the place to enjoy, come have fun and then a steak.....what more do you want in life

We had visited this restaurant pre-Covid on several occasions and have been delighted with the food and service in the past. We were celebrating a special occasion and booked an early table. We went straight for mains and had the best burgers any of us had tasted for a long time with an excellent choice of sides and sauces. Also wonderful 0.5% sparkling wine which meant the drivers could drink too. We were offered the dessert menus but waited for a long time to give our orders. Once given, we waited. And waited. When we asked where our desserts were, we were given an excuse so asked for the bill and paid. 2 hrs from seated to leaving and only 1 course eaten! So disappointing, especially as we had arrived before the restaurant got busy. Unless service improves you will lose custom which is a shame as the food is fabulous.

This building has heaps of history to it and now a beautiful restaurant. Ambience is perfect, love being able to see the kitchen, and chefs preparing the gorgeous food. It was a lovely experience eating here. Food amazing, staff and service great. Would highly recommend if in Charlestown. Oh and very nice cocktails too 😁.

This was our 4th visit over 3 years when we’re here visiting. We always opt for the biggest steak option, this time was the 1.5kg Porterhouse at around £150 you get some sides with this and we shared it with some extra bits to. Cooked to perfection, I would suggest it be cut either in the kitchen or table side, luckily I know what I’m doing so sorted the table out, but it could be cut and arranged perhaps before serving. I guess if you did that people would moan about that to! Anyway. It was great over all. Chimchurri, isn’t really chimchurri - can’t taste any vinegar/citrus notes or chilli. Really not worth serving until adjusted. Cocktails are superb, I had a few of the Bone Marrow old fashioned and a negroni. Partner and dad had some nice Gins. Desserts were mega to. All in all, would always recommend- people moaning about acoustics… turn your hearing aids up. Or go to a little cafe. Great atmosphere, ignore the boring reviews.

Had heard good things about the place so booked for dinner to celebrate my daughter’s birthday. Food was cold when arrived, sides were served 15 minutes after mains. Seafood linguine sent back as so cold and items missing from the order. I flagged our disappointment to our waitress asking that the manager be informed but no one came to see us. The two people in my party that had the linguine were sick that night so I emailed the restaurant to let them know and again flag our disappointment, two days later we have still not had a reply. We won’t be going back.

Family reunion dinner. Waited 30 minutes for someone to come for our drinks order. The noise in the restaurant is ridiculously loud and you have to shout at each other and the waitress to be heard. The food was ok but certainly no wow factor. I will no be going back again until something is done to absorb the sound which spoiled the whole evening and it was a relief to leave.

A wonderful evening spent at the Longstore with my Son. I had the Sea bass and this reminded me of a dish I had in the Caribbean, beautiful. My Son had a Rib eye steak and needless to say there was a clean plate and a smile on his face. We were served by Nicole who provided excellent customer service and is a credit to her employer. Three mums and three 14 year old boys thoroughly enjoyed the evening. The food, atmosphere and service were all excellent. Great menu and perfect sized portions. I'm just sad I live 250 miles away otherwise I would definitely be a regular.

We loved it here at the Longstore in Charlestown. Lovely aesthetic and very friendly staff. The menu is great and the food was absolutely to die for. Our personal favourites were the Beef croquettes, lemon sole with crab and the lamb ragu. They were all absolutely delicious!! One of the best meals we have had in ages.

Sunday lunch here was amazing. 3 of us had the beef, nice big portions and meat melted in your mouth!! Only thing missing was the mash which I think you could have ordered as a side but should have been included.

We couldn't get a table on a Saturday night which gives an indication of how good it must be. We weren't disappointed when we had a meal the following evening. Food and service was very good and had a great view of the harbour.

Really friendly and helpful staff, absolutely top notch food, all in a lovely setting above Charlestown harbour. The dining room was buzzy and lively, even on a wet Monday evening. The seafood chowder was the star of the show, but it was all good!

Walking by, place looked cosy with a good vibe. Menu had a few appealing starters / light bites so called in and found a table in the Cellar bar area. I was the closest table to the open door which wasn’t a problem until the three smokers at a table right outside all lit-up. They might as well of been in the restaurant. Smoking / vaping is such an anti social sport, I don’t know why decent restaurants entertain it, in any area where food or drink will be consumed. The minority spoil it for the majority. Based on this alone, I wouldn’t risk returning for a family meal for fear of repeat. Anyway. Ordered the crispy squid and Rosemary and sea salt chips. The squid wasn’t crispy, in fact the batter was damp, mushy and undercooked. The chips might have driven past a rosemary bush when being delivered but that was as close as they came. They were just bland fries. I was hungry, I ate it. That’s about it.

This is now our favourite restaurant, the steak is the best I’ve ever had, unbelievable flavour and taste. Service is second to none, lots of selection on the menu with some of the best sides around. Expensive but worth it as a treat. Only thing I don’t like is the selection of wine. The wine is also very overpriced, a £10 bottle in the shop will cost you £40 here but as I said, it’s a place to go to treat yourself and not worry about money.

Amazing food as always! Our go to for a family meal or celebrating an occasion. Friendly staff lovely location and top notch food. We will be back soon!

This is definitely a place I will come back to the next time we are in Cornwall. Why…service was excellent but the food was absolutely amazing. We had the steak which was cooked to perfection with creamed spinach and the fries. Also we had the lamb ragu which was sensational! Looking forward to coming back already!

We had two lovely meals here. The service was good the meals were great and the menu varied. The location and ambiance of the venue was very good. It was a top stop for Charlestown. Would recommend but do book ahead.

I live in Charlestown and use all local restaurants . I tried the wine bar below the long store restaurant , on the way back from the harbour . Nice decor and looked welcoming and warm in bad weather . Ordered a large glass of house Rioja . Price £15.40 !! Really unbelievable easy to see why it was empty , only one other customer at 6pm in the evening ! Why charge such crazy prices , that’s £45 + based on a standard bottle 3 x large glasses . Good luck won’t be using your restaurant again !!

First impressions lovely restaurant, good atmosphere, warm welcome and good service. Unfortunately, the food did not live up to the hype. Starter expensive for basic bruschetta with a small amount of cheese costing £10 and bread with olives £7.50. Hubby’s burger was good, triple cooked chips hard, over cooked with no potato left inside. My main lemon sole fillets was so salty I sent it back, it was replaced with another portion of the same, fish was good but what ever it is cooked in is basically salt. Manager took this off the bill for us. Sadly, we will not be returning,

Absolutely nothing to dislike here. Superb restaurant with lovely, helpful staff and beautifully cooked food. The Chateaubriand is highly recommended. Served slightly pink with their own Peppcorn sauce, simply superb. Carafe of Pinot Noir goes well with it too. Excellent selection of sweets. Again, Espresso & Cornish Cream Panna Cotta is highly recommended. Thankyou for making our weekend break, special.

Best to book but walk ins are possible especially early evening. Very friendly staff and a good atmosphere. The prices are quite high but the quality of our steaks was excellent. Menu is varied as usual the wine list. Our food was well presented and delicious. Only issue was the triple cooked chips were triple cooked bits, not great. Overall though we had a very good meal in a cool setting.

We visited for dinner and it was fantastic. We both had Hake in tomato Ragu with greens and truffle fries. All delicious and the desserts were amazing too. Staff very efficient and friendly. The place looks amazing too and is surprisingly cosy considering it is a big space. We also returned for Sunday roast and that was brilliant also. I do get that some find the food a bit salty. It was borderline for us too but not enough to put us off. Definitely returning again.

We had a delightful Sunday night dinner at Longstore in Charlestown. I often find it challenging to find a good meal on a Sunday evening, but Longstore exceeded our expectations and was the perfect way to end our trip. The menu offered a variety of delicious options, and we indulged in scallops with Jerusalem artichokes, wild mushroom arancini, pork ribs, and a mouthwatering 15oz sirloin steak. The dishes were cooked to perfection and left us completely satisfied. To complement our meal, we enjoyed some exceptional cocktails, with the beef fat-washed old fashioned being a standout. The flavours were bold and unique, adding an extra layer of enjoyment to our dining experience. For dessert, we savoured a delightful berry pavlova, which was the perfect sweet ending to our meal. Overall, our experience at Longstore was fantastic, and we can't wait to return the next time we're in the area. The quality of the food, the exceptional cocktails, the warm ambiance and the attentive front of house made it a truly memorable dining experience that we look forward to repeating in the future.

Booked here for dinner and hadn't been before. Had a goog look around Charlestown shops and harbour and then had drinks in the bar downstairs and then had dinner in the restaurant upstairs. The food was amazing.

We had dinner here on two evenings and the food was excellent. Service and ambience great. Will eat here again.

We arrived at 8 pm it was not busy and it took 35 mins to take a order and a further 50 minutes for the food to arrive . We half way through our meal before a check back was done myself and my wife both work in hospitality and standers were not met in our few we asked for the bill and it took three attempts to get the attention of a member of staff as they were busy stood around busy talking to one another as we felt our custom was not worth the effort food was ok nothing to write home about

We always come for a meal here while on holiday in the area. It was great to see it so busy early on a Friday evening. The staff are always friendly and helpful. Our favourite is the tomahawk steak, which was beautifully cooked and very tender and tasty. Will be back on our next holiday.

Sadly left feeling disappointed after my visiting for a birthday lunch yesterday. I booked The Longstore a good couple of months ago off the back of lots of positive reviews from friends. My partner and I enjoy going out for a nice meal for special occasions and yesterday was his 31st birthday and I wanted to treat him to a nice steak as we usually do. The staff were lovely and welcoming, quick and efficient service given how busy it was with Christmas party bookings, so no major fault there. However, having opted for the 1.3kg Thomahawk (which cost me £117 alone) cooked 'medium-rare' we were presented with nothing like what we were expecting. It could be that we're making comparisons to other restaurants and steak-houses we've visited and I understand not every place will be the same but firstly there was a strange glaze on the steak, not that it tasted bad but it kind of made if look less appetising - but also not a huge issue. The steak actually was cooked more medium and lacked flavour which is where we struggled. With a steak that size, we didn't want to complain for mainly 2 reasons, 1. It was busy and we had limited time left before we had to leave so didn't really fancy waiting, also was absolutely starving because decided to not eat breakfast as we knew we were having a big lunch! And 2. We couldn't live with ourselves wasting that much food. If it was undercooked, that is pretty easily sorted, but overcooked there isn't much that could be done without chucking and starting again. The sides were also pretty average unfortunately, my mash reminded me of the microwave one you get at nandos (still tasted fine but for the standard i'm expecting, not that pleased!) So all-in-all, we were sadly left feeling a little disappointed since we had such high-hopes for this place. We travelled over an hour for my partners birthday lunch and I felt that our time was wasted. I'd still give The Longstore another shot because part of me feels this could have just been one of those days; but not sure i'd rush back whilst there are other options around.

We try and visit regularly as it’s simply our favourite restaurant. The food is always amazing, as are the cocktails! And the service is exceptional too. It’s always busy there but the staff do so well to make sure all of their guests are well looked after. Always recommend to family and friends!
