Excellent experience. Without a doubt I will return.

It's been a long while since I last visited but pleased to say nothing has changed. The wine selection is vast and Peter can tell you all you need to know if you need advice. Along with the superb platters a lovely way to spend an afternoon. Truly fabulous.

Interesting establishment right next to the hotel where we were staying…we stopped in for a wonderful glass of wine a bite to eat. The atmosphere inside is cozy. The staff is knowledgeable, friendly and accommodating…wish we were able to visit more than once while on our London trip….a definite visit for wine lovers!

Tucked away in an old wine cellar is an odyssey of quality wine. Nestled in between Fenchurch Street and Tower Hill stations hides this delightful gem. There is always excellent wine by the glass, with such a good choice it’s difficult to choose just one! With a charcuterie board on the side it’s the perfect place to wait for a train. It is very difficult not to leave without a quality bottle of wine or two that is very reasonably priced. A great place to hide when C2C cancel my train home. The Wine Library is a great excuse to pop in for a cheeky pit stop for a glass of delicious, quality wine while I wait for the leaves to be swept off the tracks. Just watch the steps up on the way out especially on a sunny day…

Very pleasant bottle of wine in a cosy underground cellar. Will do this again and leave room for the attractive charcuterie boards.

You’ll have to go below Street level to enjoy this small little wine cellar. The place has a selection of wines at a fairly reasonable price per glass or you can get them by bottle. They have cheese plates and charcuterie is available. It’s clean cute and enjoyable. I recommend it.

In September, I absolutely wanted to return to Paris with a bottle of 'English' white from Kent... I found it in this little wine shop, with the wise advice of the owner. Thank you very much, I was finally able to taste this wine after a few weeks in the cellar. Excellent Chardonnay, round in the mouth and full of flavors and fruit.

We have been to The Wine Library, formerly Reynier’s, many times in the last 40 years or so. The wine remains, as ever, fantastic value for great wines but the food is not as it was. It used to be a self service buffet which was just amazing. I understand that this must be too expensive now but the platters they do are just not up to the standard of platters we have eaten elsewhere. Definitely they need to put more bread out and a more generous helping of cheese would be good.

My new favourite library in the world. The librarian Peter was very knowledgeable and guided us with our taste. A must visit place if you’re having a bad hot day!

Amazing wine with expert staff to help you choose

They have wine to go, wine by the bottle and wine but the glass. The proprietor was very knowledgeable and was happy to show us around to help us pick out a wine. I would definitely suggest you stop by if you are at all into wine.

Fabulous little hidden gem in the heart of London! Located near the Tower of London and Tower Bridge. The staff was friendly and attentive. I am not a wine-o but they did a great job of walking my husband and I through some of their wines by the glass. We had four excellent glasses and the wine library platter was a great assortment of cheeses, meats, breads, and so on. I highly recommend stopping in for an afternoon to find a wine that you may never have tried before.

My wife and I were invited to a blind wine tasting as part of a corporate event. We had never been to the Wine Library before and found the experience wonderful. Tom one of the owners is welcoming and a mine of information about the wines on offer. They also serve excellent cheeses and charcuterie - mostly British now as he finds the hassle caused by Brexit an annoyance but the food was of course still great as there are many excellent British cheeses and meats. Wines from around the world all served in a small basement space which has a great atmosphere. Will definitely return to enjoy more wines and great hospitality.

Small and tasty selection of food to accompany a huge range of wines. Good advice given when making wine selection. Friendly staff.

We were looking for retail wine in walking distance of our hotel. The Wine Library is very well located near any hotel in the area of the Tower of London. They have a very nice selection of wine. It was nice to purchase a glass of wine to drink in the cellar prior to purchasing a bottle. The cheese and sausage platter was yummy and well-priced. I didn't give food the top rating, as we only had a board--nothing cooked. Check their hours before visiting, as evening hours are very limited.

Awesome choice of fine wines available to drink in with a small corkage fee or to takeaway. Excellent pate cheeses and charcuterie to accompany your wine. The friendly service just the icing on the cake. We'll be back again.

Called in for quick drink for a bit of respite from the chaos of the underground on a busy Saturday afternoon. Despite being dressed for a Gun's N' Roses concert that evening, and being in a rather posh looking wine bar, the owner was friendly, welcoming and charming. We shared a beautiful glass of wine in lovely, peaceful surroundings. For a couple of Northerners lost in the chaos of London this was a lovely little oasis of calm. The owners a gent and not being particular wine connoisseurs we were able to explain our tastes and he recommended a glass of which was, for me, one of the nicest wines I've ever had. Loved this place. Manners cost nothing and in a city that lacks it so often (sorry, but head north and you'll find we take our manners a bit more seriously!) this lovely little bar made us feel right at home. Loved it!

We noticed this small place near our hotel at Tower Hill. Steps lead down to a wine cellar. We went in for a cheese/charcuterie plate, and it was one of our best eating experiences in London. Knowledgeable staff helps with choosing wine, which is available by the bottle or the glass. I tried a Bulgarian Chardonnay, which was a nice surprise. We had a cheese plate, which came with 5 cheeses, butter, assorted crackers/bread, grapes, and a fig jam. The cheeses were all local except one with truffles, which was Italian. They were widely varied and lit up with the wines. This is only a few steps from the Tower Hill tube, DLR, and Uber Boat, and would be perfect before a walking tour leaving from those spots. Beautiful.

An absolute treasure of an establishment, I'm so glad that it has survived the lockdowns. Really friendly and knowledgeable staff can help guide you around a very wide selection of good wine. The corkage charge is reasonable, you don't feel ripped off like in some wine bars. The cellar seating environment is very appealing. Not many tables, which makes it more pleasant as an atmosphere, just worth booking ahead

Lovely little place with a unique selection of whatever you are after. The entrepreneur is very knowledgeable and helpful in selecting what matches your occasion. He even helped me out with a bottle opener at N/C. Great customer service.

My wife, some friends and I came here on a friend’s recommendation and are very glad we did. Fantastic wine selection, highly recommend just going with the owner, Peter’s, suggestions. We had no idea the UK has been producing such fine sparking wines, and the charcuterie and cheese trays were excellent. The atmosphere was also very charming drinking in a wine cellar.

A great little Gem of a wine lovers venue and not your normal winebar being hidden in the basement of a georgian building in two long vaulted rooms. Very experienced staff with fantastic knowlwdge of wines from around the world. Fantastic selection of wines available at a prices that range from the everyday wines to something very special. A great place to meet with friends and enjoy the wonderful cold buffets at lunchtime. Booking in advance is best to avoid disappointment as this is a very popular venue for the insurance and banking industries. I've been gpoing to this venue since 1990 and have always had perfect service, wine & food.

We finished off three different and very nice bottles of Rioja between two of us. The help yourself meats and cheese complimented it perfectly. Nice to chat to the owner who has been there since 1988.

Great place Forgotten what a place it is for a quiet drink. No frills just a great selection of wine. Recommended the cheese platter if you're peckish.

Buona anche il buffet, con ampia selezione di formaggi, dal tenero al leggermente stagionato, al arbolato, ci sono anche dei salumi ma, quelli, forse causa della mia provenienza (emiliana) non mi hanno detto niente.

If you want to try out new wines over a casual buffet lunch this is the place to go. The number of different wines is sensational together with the quality and not too expensive mark ups. Highly recommended

A wonderful range of wines sold at shop (rather than restaurant) prices (+ a little corkage) with an excellent (but limited) array of cold dishes (pates, cheeses antipasti etc). I've been going there for over 20 years. The wines are not supermarket plonk -- all well-chosen bottles from mainly smaller growers.

I needed to find somewhere to take a party of 32 sophisticated business owners from all over the world for lunch. The Wine Library was an amazing success with every single member of the party enjoying simple food and lovely wines in a totally unique setting. Peter and Tom were the perfect hosts, this is one of those places that you trip over by chance and just can't stop telling people about. I could not recommend it more highly.

Great experience for all wine and cheese lovers. A plentiful choice of wines that are reasonably priced but bears little resemblance to the final bill.

Low key wine bar heaven. Arched wine bar/shop with a decent selection of mainstream and lower volume producers. The value varies, high volume not so much, low volume excellent. Special house champagne cuvée £25.99, yet to taste but it has to be better that anything in a supermarket for that price. Small selection of mid/low range wines by the glass. Definite return for a bottle at £9.95 corkage.

The Wine Shop is absolutely excellent, great expertise and knowledge, beautifully laid out and accessible. The food, while pleasant, was rather disappointing. A buffet of dried meats, pate and cheese all of reasonable standard, but for £18.50 per head did not really represent good value for money. A cheese platter to accompany wine, yes, a meal, unfortunately no.

This wasn't a planned stop, we stumbled upon it and were quite pleased we did. They had plenty of wines we hadn't seen before in the US and little nibbles to have with a glass of wine. Highly recommend stopping in here.

As always a very enjoyable visit - the wines that we had were perfect and outstanding value whilst the food was classically French and abundant.

Does not look that much from the outside - or from the inside. But if you are looking for quality wines this is your place. Very knowledgable staff. Interior could be spiced up and made cozier, but would anyway recommend a visit.

Lovely little place. Wine cellar / vault like interior, quiet and intimate: feels almost as if you've stumbled across a secret. Fantastic choice of fine wines at a reasonable price. It's a bit shabby - could do with a coat of paint and there was a large spider in the toilet - but that kind of adds to its charm. The only real downside is the early closing time (8pm Tuesday to Friday) and we kind of had to rush to finish (although we were allowed to stay until after 8). The champagne we had was presented in an envy-inducing Le Creuset chiller, and the cheese plate was delicious. Well worth a visit for any wine enthusiast.

This is a gem. Dont expect comfortable arm chairs and leather bound menus, dont expect glamour. This is a place for good wine, and decent food, at great prices, with great staff. One side of the place is a wine shop - you walk around and choose your bottle, the guys are knowledgeable and helpful, very chilled. The wine is then decanted for you and you grab a stool in the bar area and enjoy your wine with a nice buzzy atmosphere. Full of city workers.

Bought some wine yesterday. I was charmed by the shop atmosphere and staff. I wasn't completely sure what I wanted, but they guided me towards the perfect result. Absolutely thrilled to come back.

Accuracy in the wine selection, not limited to the "usual" labels (we found some Piedmontese small producers of Nebbiolo of high quality). Welcoming and informal like a real Italian Enoteca. Nice and smart the idea of the buffet, very good selection of French and Emglish cheese. In the kitchen? Donna Italiana, of course.

This is still a relatively unfound gem of a place, pairing numerous wines with some seriously tasty, if simple, pate and cheese. Worth booking to make sure of space.

Puedes elegir un vino de todo el mundo y comer buena comida de vino, como quiche, queso, ensaladas, el ambiente es como una antigua bodega, pero creo que fue un refugio antibombas, es redondo y está bajo tierra. Excellent cheeses from Phillipe Olivier in Boulogne plus various pâtés cold meats and quiches provided at a fixed cost per head. Interesting cellar location near Tower Hill. Bottles displayed in shelves, chosen by customer and priced as retail plus corkage which means fine wines are relatively affordable.

Hemos disfrutado de The Wine Library desde que trabajamos en la ciudad de Londres en la década de 1980 y después de un descanso de más de 5 años, nuestra reciente visita reveló que no ha perdido su atractivo y encanto. Dos túneles subterráneos, uno que alberga dos filas de vinos excelentes, las otras mesas y asientos para saborear su vino elegido y una selección de quesos y bocados. Nuestra botella elegida de Rausan Segla fue decantada y servida a la perfección. No conozco ningún otro lugar en la ciudad donde pueda disfrutar de los mejores vinos finos a precios muy razonables y con un buen servicio.

The perfect formula for a wine bar. Great selection of wine, cheese from Philippe Olivier in Boulogne and an interesting selection of pâtés and meats. In depth advice on the wines when requested. Red wines decanted where appropriate.

Ideal for sharing a bottle. Pick any wine in the shop (many to choose from) and pay a corkage fee. Small cheese, pate, crackers, salad, and quiche buffet enough for a light lunch or snack. Cozy atmosphere close to Tower of London.
