We are early so the restaurant was almost empty when we arrived, but was full by the time we left, it’s clearly very popular. The food was very good, and also decent value for money. The service was friendly and attentive, would recommend.

So first - the food, ambience and drinks were all amazing. I couldn’t find anything to criticize there. The only thing I would have to criticize is that the waiting times were quite long and even though the waiters were all incredibly kind and nice, it almost seemed like they were a little overwhelmed and not very coordinated. Will definitely come again though. It’s a great atmosphere in there.

A very nice restaurant with the added bonus of being a wine bar. The food is good. We had pasta and a burger, which were tasty and large portions. The real winner here was our waiter who is also a sommelier! He suggested lovely wines to pair with our meals. It was a very good experience overall!

Mixed experience. We went for a jolly lunch with the company. We have been here as twosomes before, and had a thoroughly good time. This was not so good. The positives - two of us had the chicken dish from the set lunch menu - beautifully cooked, just the right amount, delicious. One of us had the fish - just as good. OK. The negatives. Cucumber Gaspacho - weedy, sweet, poor. Most importantly, two of us chose the main course (set menu) pasta. Oh my goodness - tiny portion - asked for more grated cheese to perk it up - never arrived. How much does pasta cost? Next to nothing. TINY PORTION! Simply not good enough. So astonished, we didn't get our heads together to object. Also, put at table next to the storage entrance and had to cope with deliveries shoving past us to get stuff in - no apologies, no courtesy. Something going on with the staff which was causing them issues. But no need fpr anyone to impose their mood on the guests. Not good. We will be back for the twosome experience which has always been good. Owner... Manager... time to sort it out. Reputation is hard won and should not be lost because of such a poor service delivery. Chef - if you have a cheaply produced (but tasty) dish - even if it's on the set menu, you can afford to be more generous. Penny pinching - look at what the FT has recently said about the importance of a good value set menu meal - even if it's composed of (tasty) scraps and offcuts. Room for improvement.

We went for the ‘all you can eat’ breakfast which turned out not to be all you can eat which we found so deceiving. You were only allowed to add three additional sides to your main dish and add an additional lighter breakfast or sweet dish . It was plenty of food but we would have wanted more savoury sides rather than an another dish entirely. Service was a bit miserable apart from one gentleman who was the only one who was warm and engaging but sadly he wasn’t our main waiter. We weren’t welcomed with a smile. Almost felt like an inconvenience to have entered . One of our seats was dirty and sticky. There was no more almond croissants, portobello mushrooms were very salty and the toast were as hard as biscotti. Thankfully the rest of the breakfast was nice and fresh. We asked for scrambled eggs and they delivered it over easy but that was retrified immediately. But if you were to advertise breakfast as “all you can eat”, it should be unlimited food and not limited in any sort of way.

Begrudingly given an outdoor tablper the booking request; member of staff clearly did not want the inconvenience of us sitting there, and that lack of customer care continued throughout the evening. When the food finally arrived it was not up to the usual quality (over-salted and bland). Had to repeatedly as for items. Discount given off the bill. Been here many times for lunch and dinner and by far this was the worst experience. Only the friendliness of another wait brought a smile

We wanted only a light dinner and said so as we came in. We were nonetheless welcomed in in very friendly manner. and sat in a very nice window seat. The ambience was very much upmarket French brasserie I would say. A great place to people watch, inside and out. Tables outside for warm weather. The wine list here goes from inexpensive to absolute top wines. One of the sommeliers, Mike, matched my salmon pasta beautifully with a glass of Chablis that was not dear, but treated me as though I was ordering e.g. Opus 1, which is on the list! We told him that we had come from briefly visiting our daughter just after a major surgery and that she had come through OK, explained we couldn't eat or drink much. He very kindly wished her and us well and because we could not drink more because of driving to our astonishment gave us his card with an offer of two glasses of champagne, urging us to return to celebrate her full recovery. The food was excellent and not too pricey. One could spend a fortune on some very fine wines here and I hope to try at least one soon. Thanks to everyone for a really enjoyable and sorely needed relaxing meal. I would say this is a place women could come to enjoy a drink together and feel very comfortable. Top marks.

Did so last night, really friendly staff, extremely fast and efficient, wonderful atmosphere, food was fabulous. Mains were exceptional, the lamb was utterly superb!! Coffee (which was superb) was complimentary for no reason what so ever, service & food was impeccable, and we gave no indication of impending review, and none was solicited. It was just a lovely gesture, which meant the bill for 2 people, with 2 courses and a total of 4 drinks (soft) came out at £77 including service & vat and for the standard of what we had, that is superb value for money!! If it was closer to double it wouldn’t have surprised me!!

Go for the wine not the food. I went with my partner for Sunday brunch. The positives are that the restaurant is in a nice quiet setting with pleasant staff, and the wine was excellent. Unfortunately the food was a let down. We decided on simple dishes. In both cases the spaghetti was overcooked to the point it was a mash potato consistency. I had Cacio e pepe which was largely missing the aged pecorino and the pepper overpowered everything. My partner had a salmon pasta dish, which had little to no salmon in it, with too much seasoning.

After leaving the 8 bar having visited two days in a row, we stopped by stage bar to have one last drink. It was mainly to listen to some entertainment. Two bar tenders working it was about 10.30pm one was visibly miserable from get go, lacking the hospitality-make you feel welcome. We go out in groups and it is not uncommon for a group to ask for a bill to be split in our case the total divided by three. This bar tender started with oh well you know if you split it the service charge will be added individually or something along those lines. That instantly got my back up because we are splitting the bill you have presented us, what is your issue? Then this unnecessary back and forth. It was not about the service charge which by the way is discretionary. It was clear he was irate by being asked to split the bill. It took him quite a while too, every other server brings a PDQ machine, gets a calculator and splits a bill very simple instruction! The customer is not always right and I would put my hands up; not in this case. The kind of attitude from this bar tender on 30 August is not what hospitality needs in this day and age. He really killed the vibe! I don’t go out to argue with people I go out to have a good time. In the UK, service charges in restaurants are optional and customers can choose to pay or not. Restaurants can decide to add a service charge, which is typically between 5–15% of the bill. The Employment (Allocation of Tips) Act 2023 will come into effect in the UK on October 1, 2024. This act will require employers to ensure that workers receive the full tip from customers. In this case would have never tipped! The issue was never about service charge but just in case this is not clear to some of your staff a tip is usually about good service it has almost become an expectation in some of these establishments irrespective of service good or bad!
