Very nice and authentic Cretan dishes (Sfakiani pita, Cayanas) but found the portion small.

Came here for an early dinner before heading to a show nearby and honestly had the best time. The venue is the perfect balance between cool and cosy with lots of attention to detail re. tableware, fresh flowers, etc. The food was incredible - I'm already a big Greek food fan, but the depth of flavour in the dishes was amazing. I love it when you go to a restaurant and have food that you know you could never recreate at home. Alongside the fabulous food, the wine selection is fab - vast with a nice sway towards a natural/hands off approach. Not to be intimidated by though as the wonderful team were there to assist with recommendations. We felt so well looked after, and I will definitely be heading back soon. Since my dinner last night, I have told about 20 people to run not walk to 1905.

Excellent food, very welcoming staff and great atmosphere. Perfect for a nice lunch or dinner in central London. Great selection of lamb based mains - they are some of the best I found in the city.

Amazingly creative and wonderfully delicious

Food was good but nothing special, very few gluten free options which is strange for a greek restaurant. Portions were quite small and overpriced, the meat was very dry (not sure if it’s because the sauce had to be removed to cater for gluten free allergy). I’ve heard a lot of positive reviews from people without allergies but as celiacs we wouldn’t go back.

Everything we ordered was perfect. Amazing service and great atmosphere. Amazing desserts. We loved the lichnarakia. We also tried the London version of koliva haha.

Meeting up with special friends, went here on a local recommendation, a top tip. Elegant cocktails to start, spicy margarita was a hit. Then the food, oh my what a treat. Attentive service from knowledgable staff will help you make good wine and food pairings, these guys know their stuff. Delicious, tarama roe, a rich fishy delight, elegantly presented with pickled seaweed, tiny green strawberries, fat caper berries, and anchovies. The green pickles cutting delightfully with the creamy roe. Wild greens well presented, lovely char on the batons of courgettes, tasty tomatoes and a sprinkle of umami cheesiness. Mains, favourites were sea bass , chicken fricasee and the Cretan wedding pilaf, a mighty dish. Completely stuffed we had no room for dessert. Attentive staff paced the arrival of dishes well for our enthusiastic social, letting us have a good time together whilst never going without some tasty morsel. Not cheap eats, but worth every penny, good value for such tasty dishes. Thank you all at 1905 for a delightful evening.

Some dishes are delicious, like the lamb and chicken stew, was close to michelin star restaurant, others are overambitious; lamb rack, for example, too many elements that were not tied together by a sauce; potato croquett has nothing to do with the dish. The staff are very nice and polite, top marks, the music is not right for the ambiance and volume should be lower.

Good food, the potato with crab was delicious. Risotto was also nice.

Really enjoyable lunch - sitaroto and chestnut stifado were 2 highlights following the very tasty Cretan pittakia: enjoyable authentic food in a relaxed environment. Visit this one in Mortimer Street

Excellent vibe and the best dining experience! Transported straight back to our holidays in Crete. The wine list is endless, very interesting spirit and cocktail list, too. Ten stars for service. Must try the melon daiquiri :D. Thanks to the team for a most enjoyable evening with friends.

Nothing special for the price you pay. Mediocre food, tasteless and very expensive. Service was good though,the waitress was attentive and kept asking how everything was. I wouldn’t recommend this place.

I definetely don’t recommend. We had a cold taco as starter and main dishes were so simple and did not taste well. Wine menu was unnecessarily expensive. The only good thing was the nice lady serving for us.

Disappointed to write this as was recommended this by a colleague and it had a history of good reviews but was a total let down. 8 of us met for our annual pre Christmas evening meal - we always try somewhere independent around Soho so a cosy neighbourhood Greek restaurant should fit the bill. It did not. The service was shocking with one of the team (older guy) openly hostile (when not on his phone at the bar). I arrived solo and waited 10 mins before asking if I could perhaps order a drink only to be snapped at ‘I will be with you in a minute’ (the restaurant had like 3 other tables) and then it was the same once the rest of my party arrived. They were out of pretty much half the wine menu but rather than make constructive suggestions to similarly priced alternatives, tried to upsell us bottles that costed £20/30 more. The food - it was delicious but again they’d run out of a few things (make it clear when handing out the menus / utilise a chalkboard??) and we did have to return my main as it was lukewarm (and then took another 10 minutes to return). As were a few other dishes but the girls didn’t want to complain. Given service with a smile seemed to be a foreign concept and the menu was so restricted because of shortages and we just weren’t having that great an experience, at dessert time we decided to instead just call in at evening and head for a nightcap at a pub nearby. Given it was Christmas and despite the bill being around £600 we still tipped but in retrospect I wish we hadn’t given the rude & coldness of the two male staff members. Do better.

Tear up the handbook on what you thought Greek food is. The food was authentic Cetan food and was fabulous. The staff were Greek and advised on everything from food to wine. Now a convert of GOOD Greek wine. Will return.

A fabulous surprise this morning when we stumbled across 1905 London for brunch. Fantastic service, friendliness and food. An oasis!

We held our office Christmas party here for 20 people, they were really helpful in working with us and made it a great event. Food and wine were delicious and much enjoyed by all. Thanks team 🙏

We waited 1.5 hours for our order! The food is like fast food! It’s very cold in the cafe, you don’t even have to take off your coat! I had this feeling of heartburn all evening!

Had an amazing experience for Brunch at the 1905. Went with friends to explore this Greek-style restaurant and was not disappointed. Ordered the Eggs & Soldiers together with a Freddo Cappuccino. The poached eggs were spot on and the potatoes were deliciously seasoned as well. The Freddo Cappuccino reminded me of my holidays in Greece so really authentic cuisine and drinks! The place itself is superb in decorations and has a lot of Instagram-worthy views. Highly recommended, will be a regular from now on for sure!

Came for a late night meal - were warmly greater by the team, serviced promptly and with a huge smile. Lamb chops were excellent.

Went with Greek friends on recommendation. Food was well cooked and tasty. Prices are pretty high and you could easily spend £50 per person with beverage. Not your average prices even in London.

Some interesting recipes eg salad pot. But also some average food (and I am in good position to judge, as I am cretan) but definitely not 'average' prices. Service good

The starters and service are excellent, the mains were good, but more than £50 for only a starter and a main is quite expensive for what it is.

Delicious spot - the Tamara, the dakos salad and the boureki were outstanding (the mushroom pitaiki and the lobster raviolini were okay). Service was alright, our server seemed a bit confused when we asked her pretty standard questions though the food came at a good pace and without issue. Cute vibe, the ground level is great for brunch and and evening vibe (especially on a warm day).

What a great find! We needed a place to dine before our concert at nearby Wigmore Hall, and this place was perfect. Outstanding food, very friendly and professional service, and a comfortable atmosphere. We will definitely be going back.

We had a fantastic experience at this Greek brunch restaurant in London. The atmosphere was quite authentic, transported me straight to Greece. As great as the reviews said. Delicious Cretan food (sophisticated Greek food) served in charming surroundings (love the huge windows which were open when we were there on a balmy night) and warm, personable service. Like a visit to a tavern on Crete run by a caring family. Go!

An authentic experience at the only Cretan restaurant in central London. We were delighted with the presentation and taste of the breakfast dishes we went for. The service was immaculate in terms of speed and accommodation when we asked to move to a sunny spot outside. I would definitely recommend it!

Met a friend for an early dinner after work, walked in completely randomly, and had a great experience. Outdoor seating was great for the 3 days of British summer we had in August. Staff was very friendly. And the food took me back to the Greek holiday last summer. Will definitely be coming back (also for the large selection of Greek wines)! Highly recommend! PS. That is not a pot, it’s an amazing starter!

Unfortunately not a great experience. The mains were overcooked (one lamb, one pasta). The prices are incredibly high given its a pretty casual place with food that's quite average quality. The portions are very, very large, which might appeal to some.

The atmosphere is so cozy, the staff are so accomodating and polite and the food is ouuuf!! Gamopilafo is one of the most delicious dishes I ve ever tasted in a Greek restaurant where I usually not tend to visit as I am Greek and I can not easily compromise with something less than good traditional greek food. Also, in love with the taramas both as a share dish but especially as the mini welcome tarts.. Kudos to the chef! Recommended 1000%

I am a returning customer. The first time that I went to their shop, I was with a friend. We both enjoyed a glass of white wine, the Cretan pot, boureki and midopilafo (mussels risotto). The second time that we went there, we had a glass of red wine, the gamopilafo and for dessert we had the Cretan sweet cheese pies ( lichnarakia). The gamopilafo brought back memories of Cretan weddings, and I really enjoyed it. Will definitely be coming back!!

I have visited the restaurant multiple times. Unfortunately, my last experience was utterly disappointing and felt like a pure robbery. The gamopilafo was old and served cold. As far as I am concerned, serving food cold is not a tradition in Greece, particularly in Crete, where they would, for sure, express their disapproval in their colorful but honest manner if you treat them this way. The waitress, who I believe has been trained to dismiss customers, did not even try to offer an excuse or ask me to elaborate further. I do not know whether you are laundering money through this place, and honestly, I do not care. However, considering the fact that I have been a loyal customer, I reckon that I deserve at least a proper excuse for this disgraceful experience which left me with a terrible stomachache and which will definitely be my last.

This place is absolutely incredible. Lovely atmosphere, good music, friendly staff… and ofcouse finger licking food (and let’s not forget the amazing wines they’re serving…). Wauw. It’s a 10 out of 10 for me ! TIP: try the Gamopilafo with an orange wine;)

I travel all over Europe for work and I always complain that you cannot get delicious fresh food in restaurants in London, that you can in so many places in Europe. Well you can now. Just had an absolutely delicious fresh meal here at 1905 which I wanted to try based on the positive reviews. It's a short walk from Oxford Circus Tube. We shared a crab salad starter that was so fresh and delicious. Then I had the sea bass and my partner the lamb. We were blown away. Service was absolutely excellent, friendly and helpful topped off with an excellent glass of white wine. Will definitely return - a real jewel of a restaurant.

Food, wine and service were excellent. Great starters, we loved the salad in a clay pot. And the john dory was super fresh. Very good find.

Водоросли, помидоры и мука из гренок. На основное взял красную кефаль с чёрным рисом. Рыбу пересушили. Возможно нужно было брать мясо.

I was really happy visiting the restaurant in the first place but didn't write a review until I make sure that it is a great place indeed. After visiting it for a second time I can really say that I am fully satisfied with everything such as service, quality, people working there and prices. Needless to say about the fantastic menu. They keep on adding lovely dishes which I want to try them all...!!!Amazing Cretan cuisine that was missed from a restaurant in London. Strongly suggested.

We had a very nice dinner experience, the food was fantastic, the flavor combinations were delicious, everything was really well cooked and presented. The crab and potato confit was particularly impressive, it tasted soooo good! The atmosphere was also very pleasant, and the service was quick. Also, there’s a lovely terrace outside, perfect for summer evenings 😉

A very nice surprise. Very stylish and tasty. They have reinvented Greek cuisine. Lovely atmosphere. Not loud, one can have conversations too.

From the outside you would not have thought this was Cretan. If you are expecting a shabby chic look often experienced when visiting this genre, you will be surprised. Sleek and modern decor, whilst remaining small and intimate. The menu was appetising with a great range, and the wine list was superb too. The team were friendly, attentive, and you got the aura they cared about the food. Everything was delicious. If anything I would recommend asking questions about the dishes - they don't look like you would have thought so :)

1905 is a very high standard place which exceeds the expectations of each demanding visitor. I highly recommend this place for the high quality food, the absolutely incredible service, the harmonic atmosphere and the unique experience of joining this restaurant.

The Chestnut Stifado was a great vegan find that suprised with rich flavours. All the food was amazing and the staff fantastic, knowledgable and passionate about Cretan food. Extensive wine list. I recommend trying the Rakomelo digestive!

Great dinner, in a lovely restaurant/wine bar style setting. We started with the tacos (good) and the Boureki (fantastic and cooked to order, best courgettes I’ve had in a long time). Very vegetarian friendly and good wines too. Note that some of the starters are larger than the mains, I.e. the Boureki.

Warm welcome, great design and ambiance on the ground floor section of the restaurant and wide and varied Cretan menu. We started off with the Oftes and Tamara with Flatbread which was delicious. I had the Tsigariasto lamb and my fellow diner had the Gamopilafo. Both dishes we’d never heard of and delighted in. The Xinomavro is worth a punt, as is the Greek herbs tea to finish off. Would highly recommend. Can’t wait to go back.

Came across this place on the way to The Palladium near our hotel. The food was really authentic, unique and flavourful. In particular, the Boureki was a taste sensation and recommended (takes 30 mins to cook to order)... I've eaten in many places including double Michelin star and this dish was memorable! So much so I'm going to try to cook it at home! If I went back I would probably choose a mezze style meal with the smaller plates, as we found the mains a slight let down after the starters, although perfectly adequate. The staff were friendly and genuinely wanted you to enjoy your meal and traditional cretan dishes and complimentary post meal drink provided. Nice to see an authentic independent restaurant that doesn't turn out the usual 'Greek fayre'....

Nice Greek food, not many choices if you're not a cheese lover so ensure you orientate yourself to the menu in advance if you have any dietary issues with that. Plenty of lamb and fish choices, wine list is limited in the lower budget options. The food is good quality, nicely cooked, service is attentive, friendly and knowledgeable.
