Piano Smithfield in City of London, Westminster

We enjoyed our visit with the performances. It is a small space so you can get quite close to the stage. One star off due to the very limited choices of food. They ordered pizzas for you, but no gluten-free options and only one snack. The staff were friendly though.

Do you enjoy drinking Lidl's own passion fruit concentrate for the price of £10 a glass? Order the mango mojito.

Basement jazz bar with good acoustics. The usual suspects on the drink menu. Neither cheap nor over the top prices. A grown up vibe which suits me as I am one.

Intimate underground venue. Greeted by James and shown to our seats. Table service - of drinks & pizzas at reasonable prices for London - by helpful and discreet waitresses. Came to see Jana Varga who has an amazing voice and is an accomplished musician - played guitar, piano & flute on this occasion. Last saw her at Indigo O2 supporting Rumer and very impressed so bought her CD "Foreigner Face" & booked to see her again here. Lovely relaxed evening followed by a request session with a engaging pianist (sorry didn't catch his name). Great night and would like to return for a repeat performance. Recommended.

Nothing beats a great night out listening to live music, right? Piano Smithfield is, if not THE place for live music and amazing cocktails in London Barbican with a unique atmosphere, brilliant musicians, amicable staff, and memorable cocktails. We have been to Piano Smithfield in Barbican/London now a few times as a couple and with friends and have always had the best time thanks to James and his amazing staff. Because of our great experience in the past, I had booked the Piano Smithfield bar for a private event (60th surprise Birthday) and what can I say it was a night to remember not just for me and the birthday boy but also for everyone who attended (80+ people) the event that day. Words fall short of expressing how amazing James and his staff were, looking after every guest. Making sure we were served with food and drinks and we had the right music at each point through the night. Not only that, the help that I received setting up some decor at the venue and also snacks that were specially requested by some of the guests were served and filled up all through the night. I want to say THANK YOU again to James and his Team from myself and everyone who attended the Birthday Party in Jan 2024 at the Piano Smithfield ! Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

What an absolutely amazing night we had! One of the famous Portuguese singers- Madalena Alberto was performing with her soft and admirable voice. Also, the staff were super, and later, the evening continued with some piano performance which was a plus! I would highly recommend this lovely venue for an evening out.

Amazing find! Small intimate venue with a wide range of drinks, great pizzas and the entertainment is unreal! Very talented pianist, would definitely recommend the “piano bar request” night on a Saturday it was a blast. Wish we could have stayed longer, we will definitely come back! Staff were also amazing and couldn’t do enough for us.

Attended a ticketed event, but stayed for a while afterwards so we experienced the in-house entertainment. Very welcoming and well organised, the pizzas looked nice although we didn't order one ourselves. The pianist was very good and played a variety of songs as requested.

Nice music/bar venue. Unfortunately, I bought tickets for what turned out to be a popular event and they decided to pack it to the rafters. As a result, I ended up sitting on a glorified footstool. It was so uncomfortable, I had to leave halfway. And what made it worse was that I paid the same money as the people who were sitting on the comfy banquette seats. Not for me.

Always love my nights here. Especially when the wonderful Diane Birch entertains. Highly recommended for an intimate music experience. Definitely worth the trip from North Yorkshire 😎

We hosted a private event at Piano this weekend! James and his team were incredible. As soon as you enter the bar, you can tell how friendly everyone is! James made planning our special event incredibly easy, from drinks, set up to music choices. Our guests absolutely loved the pianist , the whole event felt incredibly personal!! If you’re having an event, don’t hesitated to choose Piano Smithfield! They are awesome!!

Beautiful little piano bar with the cutest decor. A hidden gem just a stone throw away from Barbican Station on the Met Line! Been there a few times now and loved each and every visit ❤️. Have been recommending it to all my friends. Great musical evenings. After hours Piano Bar is top notch. Great entertainment and absolutely fabulous music.

Nice ambience, great music and good pizzas.

Intimate live music venue with loads of potential. Came to see a show for the EFG London Jazz Festival here. We were seated in the 2nd row which was a brilliant place to be: so close to the band but also able to see everyone playing. The general experience could easily be improved. On arrival, it was very quiet with no / low volume music on, and we were seated immediately despite hardly anybody being there, and could only order from the table. Would be better having a buzzy bar in the hour before a show. They don't have a kitchen but you could order pizzas in which is a great touch, though the pizzas were quite greasy, takeaway-style. Would be better to partner with a nicer pizzeria. We really enjoyed the evening overall.

2 fantastic pianists that played requests all night long, great atmosphere and singalong, coupled with a great welcome and table service, would definitely go back.

Love this place, great cozy and inclusive atmosphere. Super friendly staff who go the extra mile for the customers. Awesome gigs with various artists and fun sing along piano nights. Love their pizza too! Last but not least, their non-alcoholic and alcoholic cocktails are bombastic.

My husband and I visited here for piano bar requests on the Saturday of our honeymoon and have both agreed that it was the highlight of our time in London. The atmosphere was friendly, the music and the blending of the requests made for an excellent night out. We didn't realize that you were meant to pre-book but the staff were able to squeeze us in which was greatly appreciated! We're planning to come back to London in August and are already planning our return visit to Piano Smithfield. If you are looking for a fun night out, this is the place.

Good evening. Didn't understand why didn't serve food except brought in pizza

Talented people playing music on the ivory scales .... whilst charging inordinate amounts of money for a random drink. Go for the music. Not necessarily for the food (45 minutes wait) and definitely not for the free cardiac arrest when paying for it.

A great place for general hang out and private events. Have been to several film and media events and parties there. The staff are always super friendly and the owners make a pontnif saying hello to everyone.

Great live jazz basement bar.laid back and chilled,easygoing...I looved it,it reminded me slightly of the 606 in lots rd.although 606 was an institution,Piano has the same 'come as you are',laid back sort of feel. They have monthly live music schedule,I believe most of it-free I loved it,and I'd go down anytime.If you're about,do the same!

Went to see VJC on Saturday afternoon, absolutely brilliant!! Great venue, good service and of course VJC were excellent.

We were here for a ticketed in conversation event with live music. Lovely cosy elegant bar. All seats and booths have good view of the stage. Pizza was nice. Returning for Piano Request night as the sample playing we saw was really impressive , and I've seen they do 2 for 1 cocktails between 6 and 8pm . The bar is very close by Barbican and Farringdon Tubes . Also Elizabeth Line virtually next door.

Lovely cabaret / jazz bar. A fine welcome and good sightlines. Some excellent acts coming up. Decent drinks list. Food is as far as I know, pizza only. Very good but they are unfortunately anti-cutlery, more suitable to mannerless young.

We went to see a performance by the jazz singer Barb Jungr, the venue was cosy & elegant, the staff welcoming & helpful, the place was full, we enjoyed particulary that the audience was very quiet when the singer performed, we had a great time but did not stay for the late piano playing because we had a long way back home.

Great time here, super sweet lady waiter. Great singer playing piano all night. You can pick up your song and ask him to sing almost anything. Wonderful Cocktail’s! You can dance, enjoy, sing, just have a great and simple spontaneous night !

Great show by a super artiste. Anthony Strong and his band gave us a wonderful evening. The music was terrific, but best you drink tap water. Two rounds of drinks for 4 of us cost over £75 !!! Seriously. I only had two beers. We had one fruit cocktail and one Margaretta the other two were wine spritzers. £££ expensive. Pizzas brought in by Deliveroo as they don't have any kitchen, so you eat it out of the box. I don't know what they charge.... £££ again?

Had a wonderful afternoon visiting this venue to see Louise Dearman perform, which was excellent. The venue is lovely, so cosy and inviting on a cold, winter afternoon. James and his team are absolutely charming, so welcoming, helpful and friendly. Great selection of drinks, which are reasonably priced. Incredible, get yourself down here it's an amazing intimate piano bar with fantastic live acts that often do requests, great for all , groups, hen does, romantic couples or drinks with the gang. Great cocktails and mood lighting , a total must, independently owned and you can tell by the passion

What an amazing find! An intimate, quality piano bar near Barbican underground. We came to see John Owen-Jones and had a fantastic evening. Even though the event had sold out, James the manager very kindly arranged for us to have some standing tickets. With only 60-80 (estimated) other people there is felt like a very personal concert. John on top entertaining and singing form as always. We got to chat to John during the interval and also met Rhydian (previously from the X-factor) who was hosting the concert and did a fab job of making sure everything worked out well. Thanks to all - looking forwards to coming again.

What a cool little place right next to Barbican. Amazing Speakeasy feel with perfect acoustics for small and intimate performances. A bit steep on the cost of drinks but it's the price you pay for the experience. Good find.

Lovely, cosy live music venue with a great atmosphere and attentive, friendly staff. We saw the wonderful Gabrielle Du Comble band, followed by a solo pianist. Highly recommend this venue as one to get back to seeing live music once again. On the downside, there was one rude and disdainful member of staff, but that was unique to her, not the venue.

New venue for the Squeeze and I and we went to see a top jazz guitar combination of Nigel Price and Alessio Menconi (AM on a brief visit from Italy for a few gigs). We see a lot of live music, largely jazz, and I’m pleased to say this was an outstanding gig with two sets of stunning performances. Will certainly use the venue again. Seating varies between chairs with small tables and booths with tables, plus bar stools. From 10pm it’s a piano bar with a late license. Food limited to pizzas (we’d already eaten but the pizzas seemed to be going down well). Nice buzz about the place and the host James was friendly, knowledgeable and hopefully will continue to book great acts. Easy to get to - Barbican tube and the new Farringdon Elizabeth Line a few strides away. An expresso martini plus two 175ml glasses of a decent Malbec + a large bottle of sparkling water = £33.85 + 12.5% service = £38.08. Not out of line. No entry fee when operating as a piano bar.

Went to see Simeon Hammond Dallas perform. Excellent performance though the venue doesn't cater for all tastes. Wines, spirits and pizza seem to be the order of the day here

Hidden gem! Music and atmosphere are top notch. If you can handle a bit of heat I really recommend the Chilita cocktail!

Good place for a late night drink

Went to see the band Some King Of Wonferful with some friends. Had a wonderful evening in this great jazz club/piano bar. Great service at your table. Great sound. Great pizzas. Also stayed on to hear the pianist after the main act which was also very entertaining.
