Went to have something to eat and have a drink, ordered fries with garlic bread with cheese, my friend ordered fish and chips and chocolate fudge cake for dessert. When the food came to the table the fries were over cooked there was very little cheese on the bread, the fish had more batter than fish. The chocolate fudge cake hadn't been heated up and looked like slop in a bowl. I understand there has been some changes with staff. The food is normally very nice but this time very below par. I feel bad for giving this review but it needs saying for something to be improved.

I grew into this pub over a few years. Got to know mark and Kelly. Mark was the most brilliant landlord I ever had the chance to meet. Knew so much about his customers. Tweaked to fit everyone. Since he died very up and down. However now Nathan new manager brilliant, things still adjusting, but he's doing a an awesome job. Really brilliant karaoke. Few DJ's the one tonight brilliant, he played absolutely everything. Sound guy. Food good and reasonable price. Keep going Nathan you are getting there😃👍

Wilmslow tavern is an absolutely brilliant place. Drinks are a decent price and the clientele is very mixed. It's a fabulous place to meet people. The landlord and landlady Mark and are brilliant very hard working. During the COVID they pulled out all the stops, breakfasts , lunches and very welcoming pint. My birthday was awesomeness me, hi memade pizzas, hi memade Curry's. Great Atmosphere, kareoke various not fhrs. Brilliant people that I hav met here, I got flowers, presemnts, cards even a fresh loaf of bread from the lacals. It's a real community pub. Muted by the landlords. They take time to get to know people, even new people and try to cater for as much re as possible. Definitely recommend it Monday club especially great.

First time visit for 24 members of our Social Group to hold our monthly Saturday Pool Night. Found the management very accommodating and for a reasonable price laid on an excellent Hot Pot Supper, with veggie alternative, for those who wanted it. Great Pool Table area, decent bar prices, management even turned down sound on TV in Pool area, so that we wouldn't be disturbed though 3 other TVs elsewhere on premises. Finished off with a bit of Karaoke to end an excellent evening. Back there next month. Can't understand the reasoning behind the poor previous reports. Some people will find fault with anything

I visited the wilmslow tavern last week and found the hole experience enjoyable. The pub was spotless, staff were friendly and though there was a small wait, the food was exceptional value. We both had light bite hand battered fish and they were enormous. The new management mentioned how they had tried to get a few of the terrible reviews removed as the pub has changed hands since and been renovated , redesigned and re staffed with a whole new menu but they couldn't which I thought unfair as they really are trying so I thought I would show my support on here. I always think that the condition of the property says a lot about what to expect food and service wise. The external woodwork of the 'tavern has peeling paint and the drive is weeded up. My wife and I visited the Wilsmslow Tavern in may this year after purchasing a Woucher Deal. To sum up th epub was an absolute disgrace. On entering the pub smelled very stale and unpleasant and looked like it had not been hoovered for weeks. On going to the bar to order our meals I asked for the starters of fish cakes followed by Steak and chocolate pudding. The young chef was coming out from the kitchen and the bar maid asked do we have any steaks and he grunted I dunno. she said if they didnt he would pop along to the shop and grab a couple. We were the only ones in there and pretty sure no one had eaten before us as it was only 12.When the fish cakes were brought out they were brought out on a scored unhygenic looking wodden board and burnt to a crisp and totally unedible. I had food stuck to the back of my fork also which I had to complain about. We asked to speak to the manager for our money back. When he came over I asked would you eat these and he replied well if it was me i would not have ordered the fish cakes. We asked for our money back and left.To sum up teh Wilmslow Tavern is filthy, dirty, smelly, appauling food ripe to give someone food posioning in future and teh manager totally un professional. Avoid at all costs.P.S we even phoned Marstons to complain about the pub we were that disgusted but were told it was a let pub so not much they could do about it. Quite poor sevice all round. Amazing since we have been two or three more excellent ratings have come up smells suspicious to me who wrote these because the pub certainly does not provide superb food or a clean environment. Avoid, Avoid, Avoid please if not you will be dissapointed!!!1 star because I have to to submit review. If could rate it would be -100

We all know we are getting a bargain meal and having been several times for the Sunday lunch, a big plate deal and the pizza deal we think it was well worth it. Went here with a deal from woucher. The pub is a local pub infront of a housing estate. The atmosphere wasn't great with poor lighting and a group of locals playing poker in the corner and the ladies toilet smelt of fags and had a toilet seat missing which was on the floor by the sinks. When we arrived there were not many people in the dining area only 3 couples who said they had all been waiting an hour and a half for their food! Luckily we did not have to wait that long but we still had to wait around half an hour before the starter and then another half an hour after before the main, the place was short staffed even thought it was not busy and there was only one guy who was serving on the bar and having to serve the food. However the food was surprisingly nice which is why i have given a score of average, the lasagna i had was home made and the four of us all cleared our plates, for the deal we had the food was fine. However i would not return to this pub.

I have to say that when I read the previous reviews of The Wilmslow Tavern I really wasn't looking forward to this, but I am now very glad that I did. The service is very low key, order at the bar and get your own drinks, it is a pub so it was to be expected. When our food came I was pleasantly suprised and relieved to see that it all looked great on the plate, the quantity was on the larger side (which is what I like) and it all tasted great. The staff were all very friendly and the atmosphere was good. I have to say though the best part of all was the bill which would have been considerably more for considerably less in any of the surrounding pubs or restaurants.I would definately recommend this place to all my family and friends and I will definately be back soon.

I booked a voucher off Groupon and decided to take my parents out to dinner. After several weeks of trying to get hold of someone, i eventually did to be told that they were fully booked until after the expiry date but they would fit us in afterwards. The guy on the phone Nathan was really pleasant. We got there and walked through a bar into the dining area and said we had booked a table, they replied sit on any table made up and order at the bar. The tennis was just winding down but alot of really loud, people were in the bar area which ajoined the so called restaurant area, language was deadful and just pleased i had no children with me as the F**K and C**T word were used a lot. Really really loud music was playing as well so no chance of a conversation over dinner. None of the staff looked really interested although not un polite. Food was horrific. We were told no chicken wings, only beef or gammon left for main and all desserts apart from Chocolate and Vanilla ice cream had gone. We placed our order and waited probably slightly longer than we should have. Starters were edible but the main was horrific and i actually just moved things around and sent it back. Dreadful, tasteless meat. Worst gravy i have ever seen, and cold. There was then an argument in the kitchen as they couldnt remember what we had ordered for dessert, until i told them we hadnt ordered and not to bother. Although it did give us a good laugh on the way home.

I HAVE HAD TO GIVE MY REVIEW ONE AS THERE IS NO OPTION TO PUT ZERO!What a terrible disappointment my purchase of a Living Social Voucher was for a meal for two at the Wilmslow Tavern. Having read the appalling reviews on other websites about the restaurant, I sent an email to Living Social pointing out the terrible reviews but have not even had the courtesy of a "receipt". Anyway, after giving the matter a lot of thought, we decided to give the Wilmslow Tavern the benefit of the doubt and see for ourselves. We really should have believed the reviews. The only half decent thing about the place was the young lad behind the bar who was at least efficient at serving drinks and friendly! We were told we only had a choice of starters (which were questionable and the fish cakes looked like burnt potato slices), three choices of meat (gammon, chicken or beef - chicken seemed the best option) for the main course (described by the waitress to another customer as "a carvery" - when the customer asked where the carvery was, she was told it was a roast dinner already served up) and the choice of desserts was three scoops of ice cream, hot choc fudge cake or sticky toffee pudding. The chefs were "out front" at times getting drinks - their clothes were dirty and I would question whether suitable to a professional kitchen. The starters were served on wooden boards which were marked and deeply scored and were clearly a vessel to harbour germs. The main course was served on huge plates - but they were half empty - 3 black roast potatoes (which had clearly been deep fried - cremated!), 3 tiny tiny new potatoes from a tin, two small slices of beef which were tough and very fatty, one small piece each of cauli and broccoli (frozen) and a sea of frozen peas (my husband chose chicken and, in fairness, it was a chicken breast). The gravy was like dishwater! Oh, and half a frozen yorkshire pudding too. The desserts were clearly frozen and microwaved. My small jug of custard had water on top - admittedly I was able to stir it but the sponge was so hot it would have been dangerous if served to a child. There wasn't any offer of tea or coffee to us or anyone else there at the same time - which was part of the deal. Living Social sales spiel shows a photograph of a lovely piece of meat and yorkshire - but the reality is nothing like that. It really was awful. In fact, I would go so far as to say it is a misrepresentation and a con - the place was truly awful, it had an air of menace about the place and the locals made me feel wary. I didn't dare use the loos after reading some of the reviews but my husband did and said they "stank", were dirty with the loo roll holder open and the loo roll just chucked in.Service was slow. The place was filthy, cobwebs, rubbish, dirty toilets, so clean eating implements would have been nice! And, to put the icing on the cake, I've now got dreadful indigestion! I will never ever use LivingSocial again and will never recommend them to anyone else, ever! Absolutely disgusting. Not sure which was the worst experience - the Wilmslow Tavern or the "promise" from Living Social! The "experience" wasn't worth £11 - never mind the £39.80 full value quoted by the site.

I bought a Groupon voucher for a 3 course meal for two people with coffee for £11 - should have know that it was too good to be true, in our opinion it wasn't worth even that!! The place was dirty - don't think the hoover had been on for a week, the toilets smelled and the hand dryer didn't work. We were shown to a table in a dark, dismal part of the pub and after our starter, which was ok King prawns with a chilli dip, we asked if we could move to a lighter table. After half an hour a member of staff - most of them being teenagers, tried to bring our desserts before we had even had our mains, we then had to wait another 20 minutes or so for our main which was very poor and not much of it. When we got the desserts much later the hot chocolate fudge cakes were cold. We didn't wait to for the coffee (not as we were offered any anyway) as we couldn't wait to get out of the place. DO NOT GO THERE!! The staff are not very friendly at all - if I hadn't have already paid through Groupon I wouldn't have done so. The only reason I have given this place 1 star is because you have to choose one option!!

Had Sunday lunch here today on a KGB deal. I had the same problem as another person saying how difficult it was to get someone on the phone and then being told they were booked up weeks in advance (there were at least 6 tables free on our visit). Not at all what I envisaged. A typical back street booze up pub. Food was not the best meal we've ever had. Starter nicely presented and hot, main course fine if you like an average freezer meal, desert was your average pub desert. Staff were friendly and courteous but that's really the only thing this place has going for it. All this said £12 for a 3 course meal for two it did the job, had I paid the £32 it was meant to be worth I would have not been a happy bunny. Would we eat here again never in a month of Sundays.

Upon our arrival we found the place very dismal and empty apart from the lad behind the bar who told us the Chef wasn't in and there would be no food for at least an hour or more. The lad was waiting for the bar manager to turn up so he could then do the cooking if people wished to order food. Staff cocked up booked time of meal had to wait half an hour staff unapologetic, finally got table after asking staff. No problem with drinks and the starter was quite good, however after waiting for the main course we finally got it after half an hour and asking the staff, who judging by their response had forgotten about us (6 in our party).Chicken/beef and gammon were on the menu but there was no chicken availiable, food arrived barley warm, veg was more or less raw, yorkshire pud burnt and the beef totally inedible, when we eventually got hold of a member of staff to complain the response we got was "Oh" - nobody came back to us so we left, never to return again.

First impression was not good, as we arrived on the car park we were met with a group of football fans singing, shouting and swearing. On entering the pub we found the restaurant is shared with the bar, so there was no escape from the noise. We were a group of five and we arrived at 6-00pm we were shown to a table, we ordered then waited and waited, at 6-45pm we were informed they had run out of tomato soup. The starters finally arrived at 7-00pm, the chicken soup had a skin on it and the other starters were served on wood boards, not very hygienic. The restaurant was quiet so we could see no reason to be kept waiting so long. The comments from the adjoining table were not very reassuring. At 7-30 we still had no main meal so we informed the manager we were leaving. He apologised and we left.It would not be fair to blame any of the staff for our experiance, they were friendly and helpfull.Throughout the time we were there we had to endure football chants and shouting, on the pubs web site it states we have had a major refurbishment, all televisions have been removed and a top class carvery can be enjoyed. In the ladies toilet the mirror was that dirty, someone had written on it "Clean Me". I am sure this description would break the trade descriptions act.My daughter booked the deal through Key 103 our local radio station, paying a deposit of £20. When she informed them of our experiance they immediatly refunded her money. She also e-mailed Marstons Brewery who own the pub and within half an hour she recieved a phone call from one of their managers.

Went on a Groupon deal with a voucher on Bank Holiday Monday at a cost of £28 for four of us to have a three course meal. On arrival, was told by the bar tender that steak was off, ribs were off, steak and kidney pie was off, and there were no puddings left at all except ice cream. One of the starters was off the menu as well. There was absolutely no atmosphere in the pub. They had been given our tel. no when booking so they could have rang us to advise of the lack of food. We were told we could rearrange but we had travelled four miles there so it seemed a waste of journey. The food we were served was fine it was just the lack of it that was annoying. If these businesses are going to join Groupon in the hope of gaining returning business, then they should at least honour the offer the customer has purchased in the first place. Will never return and it was such a shame for the young lad in the bar as he did everything whilst the landlord/landlady had obviously cleared off knowing that complaints were forthcoming. Dont bother eating here, you can get a meal for £7 anywhere in a pub without the promise of a starter and a pudding. Very disappointing and it has put me off booking anything with Groupon also.

We visited yesterday with a KGB Deal - 3 course Sunday lunch for two for £12. We weren't expecting much but were still very disappointed. We were greeted by a fellow patron who said "Don't eat here the food is ****" - not what you want to hear! We were seated immediately but it was clear the staff would rather be elsewhere, none had a good attitude. My partner went to use the gents and reported the floor was sticky and dirty, the hot tap didn't work, there was no soap and they were generally dirty. The ladies weren't much better! The food was generally poor, we started with soup which was obviously from a packet with half a white baguette which had been in an oven which was too hot (doughy on the inside, burnt on the outside), edible but not outstanding. The main was a massive disappointment - we both ordered roast chicken and were given a plate containing one chicken breast (mine was very overcooked and rubbery), three boiled potatoes (overcooked), three roast potatoes (deep fried, rock hard), half a large yorkshire pudding (mine was not cooked in the middle), the vegetables - peas, cauliflower and broccoli - were very over cooked. The gravy could only be described as brown water. The pudding was the best course but only because it was a course you would really struggle to get wrong - chocolate cake and cream. The cake has been microwaved and was quite tasty, served with a little jug of cream, We complained to the staff who were apologetic but seemed to have heard our complaints before. There isn't much space between the main pub and restaurant so we were also subject to a lot of rowdy football supporters. I had bought another voucher for my parents but have decided instead to complain to KGB, I would never subject anyone else to the experience I had at The Wilmslow Tavern. Very disappointing indeed. It is also worth noting that the pub's website state that food is "homecooked where ever possible" and that there is a carvery every Sunday. We saw no sight of any carvery and the only homecooking was from a packet!!

The pub itself is not unwelcoming, but if you do not enjoy football fans chanting, their drunken, out of tune repetitive songs, do not go during football season. The TV with sport on is in the same room as people are eating, so you just cannot avoid them. When my wife asked one of the staff, were we to endure this throughout our meal, the reply was "well it is a pub". In fact that is not the only drawback with this establishment. We went on a Key 103 deal which gave us two Sunday lunches with drinks. Sunday lunch consisted of half a Yorkshire pudding each, two small deep fried potatoes one piece of broccolli, one piece of cauliflower, and the toughest beef I have ever encountered, served in cold watery gravy.Do yourself a favour, don`t even bother buying a voucher for this place the ambiance and food are both equally garbage.

Went on Woucher 3 course meal offer for £14. Pub looked ok from outside don't be fooled. When entering felt intimadated by what can only say was a group of loud mouthed alcholics swearing. The pub was advertised as having had a recent re-fit, it was filthy, cold with sticky tables and menu and toilets smelly. Booked a week in advance and majority of food wasn't available on the menu including no desserts.Staff did try and were pleasant enough, couldn't wait to leave and found it quite laughable to see the staff returning from the local supermarket at the back of kitchen with food in carrier bags.

Used to be quite good, but gone down the pan. Soup, now I can make better. Appearance and texture of cheap packet stuff. Chips, now how do you manage to serve hot chips and cold chips in the same serving? Poached salmon fillet; thin piece of tail end, over cooked and dry. Got to get your own cutlery, sort of like self service. Staff doing their best, but run off their feet. Really disappointing and dare I say it, overpriced 🫤

Been visiting jodrell on and off as a cyclist for the last 5/6 years, from when the modern caterer was responsible for the cafe, sadly that came to and end a while ago and the university took back charge. The food seems to have been going downhill ever since. Todays (Sunday) breakfast offering consisted of sausage or bacon barms. Precooked and left to slowly cool in a pot, not kept warm or reheated, served on an unbuttered barmcake that was left to dry out in a paper bag. The whole thing soon disintegrated because it was dryer than Gandhi’s flip flop. And they have the cheek to charge £5 for it. On the (only) plus side the coffee is still decent. May be better in the week but today was embarrassing compared to how good it used to be.

We booked for my birthday and thought we would have a nice tea and it was truly awful! Weak and cheap coffee, dry cakes and small sandwiches!!! So awful 😞 the bar manager was lovely and gave us a 100% discount… will not return 🤮🤢

a very busy café that is clearly struggling to service the amount of people that are coming through the doors. Like most places getting staff to work is a major problem and this was clearly visible. The set up is not the best as getting in was hard as the entrance just bottlenecked . Once in service was slow due to not enough staff on but they were doing there best , Coffee and cakes were ok but surprised a bottle of coke at £3.55 was more expensive than the coffees and cakes
