The Willow Tavern in Oldham

Been in today at 4.30 Friday 19th April very busy told by a member of staff you have 5 minutes to order food was trying to find a table watch two guys given a table went to order and told don't bother you haven't got a table no effort to try and help us probably because we are notregulars rude and unhelpful need some customer service training I am a catering manager and hospitality manager Not the way to turn custom away could of approached it in a better manner than offered a table by a lovely lady member of staff but felt extremely uncomfortable with the whole incident

Excellent local pub . Great atmosphere and service.

Called in without booking with my disabled sister in law, ramp outside for her Walker so easy access I went in it was busy so asked if I needed to book even though tables was tables was available infront of the bar area man behind the bar said no you are ok . Ordered food it came out after not a long wait, and it was lovely I will go back again but may book just to avoid disappointment well worth a visit.

Good service and excellent food

Last minute decision to eat as we were passing and so glad that we did. I went inside first to see if I could eat and take my dog in, the answer from Zoe was "absolutely yes! we love dogs here" It was quite busy but she showed us to a central table with plenty of room and made a lovely fuss of my border collie Kaya. And even gave her some treats All the menu looked really good and very reasonably priced but we settled on the large sharing platter and chunky cheesy chips. 10 minutes later this huge plate of chicken wings, garlic bread, halloumi fries, wedges, onion rings, coujons and salad appeared with some lovely tubs of dips. And the chunky chips were exactly that chunky. It all tasted as good as it looked as well and the staff were so friendly, Will 100% be returning and soon too.

First time here and what can I say apart from I should of come here a long time ago staff was absolutely amazing nothing was to much trouble good was absolutely fantastic the atmosphere was on point also will definitely be back soon

Went for a lunch with my Mum and the food was absolutely delicious and was also reasonably priced. We shared the salt and pepper chicken wings to start and they were fabulous. The cheese pie was amazing too! Really looking forward to returning.

The Owners make you feel like you are Family, Friends and the lady who takes your food orders is a pleasant and lovely person in front of house! The Food is Healthy, homemade and Delicious. The atmosphere is cosy, warm and inviting, that's why we frequently go here. The prices are very reasonable, in fact! too much so! But I'm not complaining 😉 It's so nice to see a local pub Full on a weekday with Happy people enjoying Good food. All the food is 10/10. Highly recommended.

It was my first time I visited the Willow Tavern. The staff were amazing so friendly & welcoming. The menu was excellent plenty to choose from & very reasonably priced. The meal I ordered was delicious very fresh & home made. The sweet I had was unbelievable. I'd give the chef 20/10. I will definitely recommend this place to all my family & friends. Lee &Paul are amazing hosts

First time, and won't be the last. It's just a pity it's a little off the beaten track for us. Celebrated a friend's birthday. The food was delicious and so very reasonable. I wish they served a little later than 5pm though. But definitely worth a visit.

The best pub in Failsworth by a mile. Very friendly landlords and staff, great atmosphere and always great entertainment at weekends.

Went with friends on 10th September to see Smudge. Great duo who do a great range of songs. Atmosphere in pub was fantastic. Lee and Paul were on fine form and sat with our group.

Wow .. fantastic lunch at the Willow Tavern .. excellent service from Lee and Paul and Patrick. Food was amazing there were 4 of us and we all ordered different dishes.. value for money will definitely be returning. Would highly recommend a visit you will not be disappointed and the drinks are cheap too .. thanks guys for a great experience.

visited here recently, went to the mens toilets to be confronted by the most horrible stench of mould as you went in, you look at the ceiling and windows and it is absolutely ridden with black mould everywhere, to say this place serves food, anyone with asthma problems this is highly unnaceptable

We decided to visit this lovely pub, which came highly recommended by a lady I got chatting to at the hairdressers, and we were not disappointed. We received a warm welcome from Lee upon arrival who explained they were very busy so there was a 45 minute wait for food and asked us if we were OK with this. As we were having a day out, it was not a problem but we appreciated his honesty and consideration to go to such lengths to ensure we weren't disappointed. Staff were very pleasant and would smile or chat briefly as they were passing, whilst we were waiting for food so the time soon passed and the wait did not feel particularly long. Both my friend and I thought the food was delicious and very reasonably priced so along with such lovely staff, we could see why this pub was so busy and we both felt the food was worth waiting for. I had the cheese and onion pie which came with a choice of chips or fries as well as peas and beans and my friend had the chicken tikka masala. We were very impressed with the generous portion sizes, which considering the price, provided outstanding value for money. I thoroughly enjoyed the homemade cheese and onion pie which just melted in your mouth. My friend, who is a very fussy eater, said her chicken tikka masala was really nice too and incredibly, as we usually struggle to find food that she wants to eat when we go out for meals, there were lots of other things that she fancied trying on the menu so we will definitely be going back. When bringing out the food, Paul very courteously, apologised for the wait, even though our food arrived in less than the 45 minutes we were expecting it to take; Patrick was lovely and checked if everything was alright for us and if we needed anything, bringing us extra drinks to the table so our food wouldn't go cold if we went to the bar, while Lee asked us if we were enjoying our food. For dessert, I had the apple crumble with custard while my friend had the hot chocolate brownie with ice cream. We both loved what we had and found the desserts to be very tasty. I had fancied the curried vegetable soup starter but knew I wouldn't have room for a starter and pudding if I was to eat a main as well so I ended up bringing a portion of the soup home to have later. I was not disappointed as it was full of flavour, just as you'd expect from a homemade soup and I loved the thick consistency of the soup which, to me, was just as a proper soup should be. When we went to pay, Lee introduced us to Emma who had cooked our meals which was a really nice touch as we don't usually get to meet the chefs when going out for meals and this made us feel that we were really appreciated and valued customers. We also loved the atmosphere as we got chatting to lots of other customers which made us feel so welcome. I would not normally feel comfortable going into a pub environment on my own but everyone was so kind and welcoming, I would be quite happy to visit The Willow Tavern alone as staff are very attentive and the locals were very pleasant and friendly.I also loved the fact this pub serves lovely wine and is very dog friendly which makes it a rare gem in this area as there aren't many places locally that tick all the boxes when it comes to welcoming pets; outstanding food and drinks; incredible staff and great value. I can't recommend this place enough as everything about our visit was perfect. A massive thank you to Lee, Paul, Patrick and Emma for making our first visit to The Willow so special.

The crispy chicken burger was fantastic I am also lactose intolerant they were more then happy to tell me what food I could not have in case it caused problems

Mine hosts go out of their way to make you feel at home making space for you and spending time chatting. They are fabulously helpful and friendly. The food is delicious. I had the butternut squash soup (yum!) to start, the minced beef and onion pie, my favourite, for main and Crunchie cheesecake for pud. Everything was incredibly tasty and well worth the money. My friend had cream of mushroom soup and chicken tikka masala and said that was gorgeous. Both the landlords are lovely and the nicest people. The food is stunning, all home made and very reasonably priced. I would recommend this place to everyone.

They think closing their shutters at 1am Sunday morning is acceptable the amount of disrespect the owners have for the surrounding residents is disgusting. I called Them and asked them if they think it’s acceptable to pull metal shutters down at 1am and he hung up! I got it all on film and recorded the conversation for Oldham council. They are awful

I’ve been visiting the pub for just over 5 months now, I feel it’s only fitting i come here to discuss my experiences as I’ve just been so pleased especially recently. My newest most favourite place to be. I’ve witnessed a Motown night - all I can say is wow was a brilliant atmosphere all night and one enjoyed by all that attended (even the bar staff were having a boogy behind the bar and was nice to see the owners enjoy the night). I’ve visited for food both alone and with family or friends - first time I came just had to return all I can say is wow there just aren’t enough words! Firstly for the price you definitely receive more than what you pay for the portions are rather large, I believe pretty much everything is homemade as I did ask out of curiosity and I tell you what oh she’s a good cook! The chef is a lovely woman who has even come out on occasion to check everything was okay and say hi :) just feels like everything from the salt and pepper being on the table to the quality of the meal is really cared about by all staff members - I think it’s really important when customers are asked if everything is okay with their food/dishes etc and this was exactly the case :) which in a pub isn’t really expected of but you actually feel like your in a restaurant - I never had to get up or want for anything my drinks were checked on and so on. Now recently in a more saddened way to put it I’ve attended a close family-friends funeral at the willow and it was them whom sorted the buffet out and made sure we all had space to sit together now I’m not sure how much the buffet was but for the attendees there was more than enough and such a delicious range that all guests from kids to the older generation of the family and friends could enjoy - my favourite was THE CAKES! The whole pub inside and out is extremely clean I am also very impressed with the toilets they smell so fresh and look lovely, has a really homely vibe to the full pub even the beer garden is beautiful and really aesthetically pleasing you honestly can’t get enough of this place. The new owners - now I’m not sure how long they’ve had the pub for but all I can say is they are too lovely gentleman who certainly know how to make their customers feel welcome and also have a nice laugh it’s such a great atmosphere to be apart of and I don’t think I’ll ever stop visiting.

This pub is beyond disrespectful to the residents in the area. I have again had to close my windows today because of the noise they allow their customers to make in the garden. Screaming until after 11pm - booking live musicians to sing for over 4 hours in their garden. The two men that run this pub are disgusting. There is an 89 year old man below me that hasn’t been able to open his windows for months on end. I cannot wait for the council to fine them.

The most disrespectful pub I have ever known. I have reported them to Oldham council along with a few of my neighbours. They allow teenagers to take drugs and to scream and shout past 11pm (I have it all on video of them taking drugs and screaming) they play live music for hours In the beer garden!!!!! knowing they have a block of flats right behind them!!!!! I have called and asked them to tell their customers to calm down but it hasn’t made a difference. There is an elderly man living next door to me and he is struggling with the noise from the pub (he hasn’t been able to open his windows for months because of the noise) disgusting. Get some respect for the residents surrounding you. An elderly man next door is struggling to cope with it, HE HASNT OPENED HIS WINDOWS FOR MONTHS YOU VILE VILE PEOPLE - they have blocked me from commenting on their posts on Facebook and won’t answer the phone. They don’t care

We visited the Willow Tavern for the first time on the 24.05.22. For a meal . Good Menu and Excellent Value for the Money. Excellent Food good portions. Staff were very helpful and polite . Highly recommended and will be visiting again in the near future .

Great pub. A bit limited on choice of real ale. Only two hand pumps, however the rooms are large with many tv screens for sports. BT sport channel on. So Championship matches are available. Good car parking space. Staff very friendly. Do reasonably priced meals and O,AP specials.
