Disappointed - been a few times and thought I’d give it one last go Again, all the specials were fish Again, not all the main menu was available Again, waited over an hour for mains to be served & the place wasn’t even busy. (Only 4 tables in) Food only only warm not hot, again. Missing items from platters, again!

Very dissapointed. A party of 10 covers so not a small amount of money involved and each and every person didn't have a nice thing to say about the experience. Speaking personally I went for the Sunday roast...... Two half potatoes, a section of stem broccoli (under cooked), what I think was carrot and sweed mush, a small slice of roast beef that was mostly fat and grissel and a slice of the driest and tasteless turkey. Apart from that it was OK. The tonic water I had was fine.

Excellent food and service, great gluten free options too! Highly recommend a visit.

We have been several times always good very efficient nice staff only had one bad time when w e sat next to a table of loud mouthed families who I suppose would have been at home on a building site

At long last this place is back to a very professional. Restaurant. The food was amazing the service was perfect and the servers were very nice and very polite. We stopped going about 3 years ago because the owner was a joke. So now it’s back at the top of our list. Which is great because it’s very local for us. Well done the new owners and 5 stars to all tonight’s staff. Thank you again. Stu.

A fantastic dining experience, food was delicious, despite it being a busy day service was good and we did not mind waiting as we were told the food was all freshly homemade. Our server Lola was very helpful and friendly, we will definitely be coming back

Came to this beautiful pub today, first time since it’s been took over by the new lovely owner, it did not disappoint. Owner and staff were all friendly and welcoming on arrival, we also had a lovely chat with the owner Emma for a while! Didn’t have to wait long for service on drinks or food order. I had a Sunday Roast and it was delicious, perfectly presented and so filling, we were told there was a wait on food as the pub was very busy at this point and it did not surprise me. We waited no more than 30/40 minutes though which is acceptable for a home cooked food pub/restaurant. Would recommend this place to everyone for food and drinks as it’s a lovely friendly and warm atmosphere in there and we will definitely be coming back!

Waited over an hour for starter and then again for mains .Food was awful Sunday dinner cold, rock hard warm ups for roast potatoes. Meat stone cold gravy had that much pepper you couldn't taste anything . Ordered 2 gluton free chicken burgers on gluton free buns..... they came on toast , not told they had no GF buns when ordering or at anytime in the hour we were waiting for our food. We were there 3 hours , 2 hours.15 minutes waiting 45 minutes eating.Totally spoiled my sons birthday meal .Won't be going again.

Service exceptionally slow, waited 3/4 of an hour for starters after ordering then 1hour after starters to them bringing the mains. My particular meal the Sunday dinner was cold , roast potatoes hard , pigs in blankets missing though they were on the bill. Ordered 2 gluton free chicken burgers on buns they came on toast !! No gf buns but we weren't told or given the option to order something else. Was also charged full price. Hasten to say I won't be going again . Disappointed as we had been told it was a fab place to eat. Also staff couldn't stop arguing amongst themselves

Terrible with a capital T myself and my family decided to go to the Horton Arms to celebrate a family occasion and were extremely disappointed with the service we received and the standard of the food that was presented to us. We have used the Horton Arms for many years and have had no real complaints or issues with either the service or the standard of food. The service was poor and we waited for over an hour for both our starters and our mains after our starters. We complained twice about the time the food was taking and nothing was done or any extra effort to correct the inconvenience. The chef was stood in the bar rather than preparing food flirting with the female bar staff and waitresses. The food when it finally arrived was stone cold and looked like something that had been thrown into the trash. We will never use this establishment again as the staff and the food have dramatically fallen since our previous visits as plenty of others have left review on below.

We booked a party of 8 for a business meeting, and the staff were absolutely fantastic despite dealing with a difficult situation with another party. It’s appalling how some people think they can treat others. Kudos to the team for handling it so professionally. Our food was delicious, and the service was excellent. Keep up the good work!

Attended family event at the Horton Arms. Staff were amazing. Proper traditional food was on hand. The meat and potato pie was out of this world. Hats off to whoever made it. Very smart inside. Looks like a refurb took place not long ago.

The food was lovely, but the service needs a lot to be desired, we waited over an hour for our food to be served, plus I ordered an extra beer to go with my food which was forgotten about, I had to remind them more than once, so we won't be going back anytime soon ☹️

Went here this evening where we ordered three rump steaks, one came out a tiny thin sirloin which was dry and overcooked. The very stressed and, in her own words, “flustered” waitress said that we wanted it well done!? Which we did not….very very poor staff customer service….How can this pub be nominated best food pub of the year!! Staff need some training on how to be with customers! Extremely overpriced for the quality of food we got…We will not be returning….the management need to sort their staff out!

Lovely place to go with family & friends, food selection very good quality, prices are fair related to products. Not cheap food, don't think you will pay cheap. Book a table and your rag pudim, they go fast!! We had issue last time we came round, was rectified by Emma, very professional. Chef very attentive, came around to explain about the way the food should be prepared. We defo will return, as usual. 👍

This is a great pub with high quality food and really friendly staff. Thoroughly recommended - steaks were delicious but all food of a good standard. We will be back.

Called in for lunch, greeted by a friendly happy woman who showed us to a table straight away. The food was excellent and reasonably priced. We were impressed by the interior, nicely decorated.

First time coming here, initially to just use toilet however got refused which is fair enough. we compromised and asked if we can buy some water and then the female bartender then had the audacity to ask for my ID!! Absolutely horrible experience, made me and my friends feel incredibly uncomfortable and distressed

Food was nice,high end prices for pub food but service and wait time shocking, practically empty and we still waited over 40 minutes to order and for food,was completely ignored, had to go to servers and ask to order food and for bill,shame as don't know if we would return

The best pub in Oldham bar none. Scrap that, Greater Manchester. Great food, great atmosphere, great times. Some facts about the pub: Emma can lift up a bar stool, whilst she is sat on it. Carl is part rabbit, part machine, his sole purpose is to make you and your loved ones happy from the minute you enter the premises. The bar staff as a whole operate a rule - if we don't laugh at your jokes, you owe us a drink. This either results in laughter, or them socialising with you, a cunning win win scenario. The food is cooked with loved, greased by the tears of baby Jesus himself (insert other relevant god where applicable, they are ridiculously inclusive like that) Dogs are welcome, even ones that identify as cats. All in all I wholeheartedly recommend this pub, a warm, welcoming place that makes sure you always leave with a smile on your face. If you love a pint of light, come here, i swear it's the best pint of light you will ever have. The crisps are lovely too. See you Friday guys x

Really good food. Nice selection of alcohol available. The pies are thick and filled well with tasty fillings. The burger was lovely. Nice and thick meat tasty sauce. The fries were good little small ones but easy to eat and the homemade coleslaw was creamy. Would recommend a visit.

Wonderful food, wonderful service

Booked a table of 20 - had to preorder which is expected. Arrived at 6pm for our booking time. Plenty of time to get drinks and be settled. Food started to come out about 40 mins later - in my opinion perfect timing. We all got to catch to and chill out. Food was fresh and hot and all came out at the same time. Very well organised. Staff were so friendly especially the lady with the short hair and glasses . Just really nice, cosy experience with family and the food was delicious. Thank you. Hospitality is a thankless job x would defo recommend

Lovely food birthday meal for a friend

Despite the fact that it wasn't busy, (we booked early) the atmosphere was warm and cosy. My servers were attentive, efficient, and friendly. The food was delicious and I am wondering why I don't go in there more often. I intend to change this as we had a thoroughly lovely time.

One to avoid! Fish was all batter and two mouthful of fish . Did complain but nothing was said or done. Almostt like they dont care. Service was terrible too, waiting staff to steched .

This place is ok. Quiet Thursday night. The dish we wanted wasn’t available. Food ok. Came out wrong twice. But corrected. Not sure I’d return.

Early evening midweek night so not at all busy, however, waited an hour before being served and the food (fish and chips) was dire. It’s been a while since our previous visit and ownership has changed with food quality and service taking a nose-dive. Won’t be back.

Went for the first time yesterday and I loved every minute. The food was amazing and plenty of it. The staff were so lovely and really friendly and couldn't do enough for us, it was a lovely atmosphere and I will definitely be coming back. The best and nicest place I have been to in a long time. went in over the last week. got there immediately bad service had to wait a while for a table which was already booked. and to the absolute toothless wreck which served us on this day (don’t know the name but was a young girl) was absolutely disgusting and very very rude. the food was cold and not well presented. overall bad experience and would not recommend. emma and carl should be ashamed of these staff members.

Christmas Day……., wonderful warm welcome, and a glass of fizz on arrival, the staff couldn’t have been better. The tables were dressed beautifully, Christmas music playing in the background, log fires lit…. What a great atmosphere. Christmas lunch was really good… the chefs did a fantastic job. All of the staff were very attentive & friendly…. Nothing was too much ….. prompt service for drinks 🍷. They are great all year round and they certainly didn’t disappoint on Christmas Day 🎅🏻❤️

The kitchen staff and waitresses speak to the younger members of staff in such a vile way, they are rude and arrogant and I would not recommend this pub, they obviously take great pleasure in making the younger ones lives hell.... bullying is not big nor is it clever should be ashamed of yourselves !!!!!!!

Great atmosphere, wonderful food and friendly staff

Booked table 3 weeks ago was told normal menu and festive menu available. Table booked for 5pm arived at 4.50pm told to get drinks at bar while table becomes free 5.30pm taken to table 6.45pm came to take order. 7.15pm meals arrived this is after we asked 3 times how long it would be told they are very busy think they forgot we were not at the other end of a phone call, only 3 tables were eating the rest were people with drinks my food was hard to judge due to it being cold and unappetizing told staff and they said we will sort it well 30mins later its still sat there then resorted to skipping meal and having dessert well after another 20 odd mins waiting for dessert menu to come we decided to call at a day asked for bill and within 2mins the bill turned up . So we were there for over 3hrs and given cold food and only had festive menu I've been to loads and loads of different restaurants pubs ect.ect this is the worst I've ever come across and to put it into context the toby carvery knocks the socks off it. To be totally honest if they offered me my money back and free meal I'd say no thank you. This is a honest review and they can contact me to confirm if they like 24th dec 2023 5pm table for 5. Booked a table for 8 for 1.30 as a pre Christmas meal for the family. Service was very attentive and we had a very lovely and knowledgable waitress who served us. Food was lovely, service was good, although a little busy and staff were friendly. Mum and I come here a lot and it was a good choice for this a occasion. Not sure who the waitress was but I hope she knows that we did value her service.

Fabulous food and friendly helpful staff. Everywhere was clean and tidy and the place was bustling. I had THE best cheese an onion pie I think I have ever eaten with lovely well cooked chips and mushy peas. It’s great to find a local Pub where the food and staff are worth going back for .

Popped in just for a couple of drinks, we usually come in quite regularly for food and drinks with our miniature dachshund pup. With him being so small and only very young he does tend to sit on our laps as he tends to try running off and tripping people up with his lead. He seems to settle well on our lap. Never have we ever had a problem with doing this at this pub as I said we attend quite regularly and never once have we been told he can’t be sat on our lap. A lady we’d never seen before came over to us and told us to “put the dog on the floor they can’t be on the furniture” so our reply was that he’s not on the furniture? He was actually sat on my partners lap. Her reply was “it doesn’t matter it’s still on the furniture” couldn’t quite understand how he was sat on the furniture when he was on my partners lap? We found it extremely rude and unprofessional the way we were spoken to and it did actually put us off coming back again which is a shame because we usually love coming and never had a problem with any other member of staff they’re all so friendly and polite but unfortunately this lady wasn’t.

I used to love coming here so much. The food was always great and the staff couldn’t do enough for you. I’m always recommending it to people but I won’t be anymore. Today me and my family had a very disappointing experience. Snotty waitresses, awful starters, undercooked burger, gave wrong side for main meal….I’d go on but I would just recommend in not going. It looks as if other people felt the same as it’s always rammed but there was hardly anyone in. There was absolutely no point in bringing any of this up with any of the staff as they were not very approachable and were much more interested in gossiping behind the bar.

Love the Horton Arms. Since moving to the area last year it's one of our favourite places to eat. Food is gorgeous and plentiful. Service as always is fast even on busier days thanks to Gemma and the rest of the team. The staff work hard and they always find time to stop and chat. It's also dog friendly and our pooch is the star attraction and she loves the sausages. Definitely recommend. Thanks again from Nathan, Dave & Mindi ❤️

I had the lamb rump off the special board, absolutely cooked to perfection, so was the spicy salmon and the burger that was ordered. The staff were lovely especially our waitress ( didn't get her name! ) would highly recommend for a lovely meal and service.

Absolutely loved our visit to the Horton Arms this week. Atmosphere was great, brilliant selection of drinks and the food was too class. Staff were super attentive even though they were super busy. We live locally and visited as we have a new puppy & were told the pub was dog friendly. The reception was anything but friendly! We were asked to sit outside, despite the freezing temperature, even though someone on a dog friendly table told us & the waitress they were leaving. We were told that the inside table was already booked, but someone arriving after us was allowed to sit inside, despite informing us that they hadn’t booked. Having sat outside and left the door pushed closed, a waitress came & closed the door fully & said it was too cold inside. We understood this, but as we went to re-enter the pub, we realised we had been locked outside, with no way to re-enter from the dog-friendly beer garden. We had visited the pub with my son, who has significant special needs & the welcome & treatment were appalling. We left feeling extremely disappointed, frustrated & cold! Perhaps a focus on inclusion might contribute to better ratings in the future.

We've been here a few times over the last few months and i'd like to make this review fair as the quality of the Sunday roasts are very good, the wider menu has a varied choice and i'd say the overall quality of food is well above average pub food. Unfortunately the service has been dissappointing. I get, that Sunday service is busy, but our experience was less than satisfactory. Firstly, it took circa 15 minutes for the waiter to take our order. We were told when we ordered the extra stuffing side dishes that it was unnecessary as the chicken roasts included stuffing. When the meal came, it was without stuffing. We asked for it. It came at the end of the meal, so too late. During our meal we had to go to the bar to order another round of drinks as no server checked in with us during the meal. Finally after the plates were cleared, a good 15 minutes after we had finished we were asked if we wanted a dessert menu. We specified yes, it never came and after a further 15 or so minutes we gave up. Overall a decent pub but work is needed on the methodology and level of service

Went to the Horton Arms as we fancied a Sunday lunch.After much deliberation decided on the Horton as it used to be my local many years ago. What can I say other than very disappointing. Waited just short of an hour for our food,but only after we had asked what was the problem… it’s cooked fresh was the reply.The food was cold when it arrived,the only thing that was hot was a side of cauliflower cheese,which after going to the wrong table was burnt. I ate most of mine as was very hungry,but my partner left most of theirs. No apologies when we said the food was cold and generally disappointing and no updates as to where our order was whilst waiting. Sorry guys you need to up your game in serving your food and customer service.Many alternatives around and won’t be returning in a hurry. Just going to order my partner a kebab which will probably be a 20 minutes wait.

First time here.took wife child and dog. I did book to make sure I could get a goid table. Gave me the perfect table for my anxious baby. Very welcoming when we arrived and find was the best. Definitely be returning.

Food was poor quality,I.e fish and chips.could of got better from chip shop and cheaper.lager as in pint and half of Original was sour tasting,maybe lack of line cleaning.wont be returning or recommending unfortunately as isn't a bad venue.

Shocking.. the worst fish and chips ever… thought the fish would have a crispy batter it came like it had been left out in the rain for a fortnight… staff so miserable… place has gone down hill… will not be going again. If you are looking for a decent good value meal give this place a miss………. Hope Lees Brewery reads reviews as this place is shocking and not doing the company much good

Went on Wednesday night, the food and atmosphere were great. The choice of options on the menu was good, will be returning to try other things on the menu. Keep an eye on the specials menu as well, I had a lovely salmon starter off the specials menu.

Excellent Sunday Lunch and service. My wife was accidently served the wrong ice cream, but the staff spotted this and replaced it without fuss.

We booked a table for 5pm, we ordered drinks and ordered food. We told there would be a 30-45 minute wait, which we wasn’t great but, we we’re looking forward to the meal. They then said it would be an hour wait. I can’t understand why they let us buy the drinks and then tell us about the wait. They weren’t particularly apologetic and when I went to settle the drinks, I was told that they would need to wait for the manager to do something before I could pay. This was a family meal, with my mum who isn’t in very good health, and we’ve recently received some sad news about her condition, so it was especially disappointing, pretty much ruined our Sunday.
