Kobe Coffee in Oldham

Lovely friendly cafe nice bright room at back of cafe with simple tasty lunch of club sandwiches. Restaurant next door looked fabulous for a more formal meal . Enjoyed the great service and buzzy atmosphere. You can sit outside too .

really lovely spot we found whilst walking through the town for the first time. my mum, who’s usually super specific with how she has her matcha, really enjoyed the drink she got today, and my chai latte was amazing, not super sweet at all which was a relief, compared to some other coffee places food was very nice, filling and way worth the price, lots of options, enough to make all of us satisfied atmosphere was lovely, we all got way too excited when we saw the roof rolling up haha. decoration of the place was super nice too. would absolutely love to come again however we aren’t locals by any means

Loved the full English, all the ingredients high quality, and exceptional coffee. Will be coming back.

Ordered a couple of dishes between myself and my partner. Asked to add on the mussels and was told ‘I can do but you have ordered quite a lot of food’ made me feel very uncomfortable and just told them to leave it as it is. I was in shock, what happened to letting the customer order what they want? And also what if they are saying this to somebody struggling with an eating disorder? First visit but will not be back.

Edit 2024: two years on, another holiday to UK and another visit. Fabulous double shot flat white and a slice of cake. Holidaying in Yorkshire, we came across Kobe whilst wandering through the village of Uppermill. With the smashed avo on the menu, and Jason Mraz on the speakers, I was taken home to Australia. The food was good and the coffee even better. Highly recommended.

Great menu choice at reasonable prices

Excellent service and I would argue that it’s the best breakfast in the area but the sausages and bacon are always undercooked. The standard of ingredients is really high, which makes it even more frustrating when the bacon is barely cooked and the sausages almost always come with chewy skin - buy a sausage sandwich and prepare for a battle to eat it. Apart from the undercooked issue, the rest is 10/10.

Really nice breakfast here had the Kobe breakfast and a latte. Portion size was great and sourghdough toast was lovely. Big shout out to the home made baked beans - probably some of the nicest I've had Would definitely return as it's also in a great spot in uppermill

We walked in and we had to say hello to the staff. We were seated straight away and given menus, but then the waitress walked straight away. We decided what we were having and waited for the waiting staff to come back to take our order. After a while I decided to ask the waitress if we could order. We order 2 eggs Benedict one with ham one with bacon, a full english with a poached egg, one coffee, 1 coke and two Sanpellegrino. Unfortunately there was no pleasantries or a welcoming feeling from the waitress. It was as though she couldn’t be arsed. She then brought the cutlery and napkins and again with no interaction or pleasantries. The drinks came being delivered by a waiter this time. Again no interaction or pleasantries it was as though he was serving a brick wall. When the food came we were served by the waiter. Again served us with an indifferent attitude. Asked us who was having the eggs Benedict and I pointed to where the eggs Benedict with bacon was and were the eggs Benedict with ham was and he put them down. He put my breakfast down and ask if we wanted sauce I replied tomato and before my mum could answer he was gone. We were never asked through our meal if everything was ok. When we had our plates cleared I asked if they had a dessert menu and the waiter answered me with a very blunt NO. He could see I wasn’t impressed with his attitude and turned back around to say there were cakes at the front if we wanted to go and have a look. I asked where the toilets were and he just point to it. The food was good, but the one eggs Benedict that wanted ham got bacon and my poach egg was tiny. To stay in business guys you need to up your game. There are plenty of eaters in the village that have a far friendlier staff. Either train your staff better or get them new personalities. You only got a 2 stars because the food was to a good standard.

Loved it delicious well made food, lovely tea, a real USP actually Good tea is rare.

I used to love this place. A lot of the original staff seem to have left. The girls remaining seem a little overworked. It has really gone downhill.

Cold/undercooked sausages.told the staff and they took away the breakfast to re cook them but when the breakfast was returned the rest of the breakfast was stone cold. Also a rainy day and wet dogs at other tables, not a nice aroma when eating

We've been here a couple of times previously and the breakfast was outstanding. On 13th April we arrived to be told the food was a half hour wait. It actually took nearly an hour and a half. On arrival sausages were underdone, while sourdough for eggs benedict was solid as a rock. A number of people walked out or sent food back. No one apologised for the wait. At the counter no one asked was everything ok (probably knew it wasn't). I won't be going again.

Please bring back the avocado toast. The edamame is not as good; I would give it three stars. Eggs royale was fab though.

Lovely place to be at alone or table for 2, very warming and welcoming atmosphere staff very pleasant. Very friendly and organised. Lovely presentation of food and drinks. Service is amazing. Also take Student Discount !!

We booked a table for four at this “Pan Asian” restaurant and arrived on time to find it closed with a note in the window directing diners to the sister Italian Restaurant next door. We were directed to a table and were informed that the Italian Restaurant was also offering the full Kobe range and were then given Kobe Menus and the Italian Wine List which was quite different from the Kobe Wine list which I had seen online. Surprisingly, we were then and asked if we would like Garlic Bread (although I wasn’t quite sure if this was meant to be a joke), but the alarm bells were soon ringing. Although described as Pan Asian, the menu emphasis was firmly on Japanese. We shared four starters and two mains between the four of us. The cooking was as amateurish as you would expect from an Italian Restaurant attempting Japanese food and as far from authentic as Uppermill is from Tokyo. A very disappointing experience.

Staff are lovely, and offered drinks etc. just to be clear not their fault on this review. Recently came for brunch. Ordered tea and coffee which was all okay and 3 of the full English. Had to wait around 45 minutes for a cold plate. Scrambled egg tasted of water, beans cold, bacon cold and overcooked, sausage undercooked, mushroom like rubber and a stale piece of cold toast. The service was okay but very unorganised bringing out orders and going to the wrong tables. Very disappointed with this experience. Will not be returning.

Met a friend here for coffee after a couple of weeks away in Italy. Can honestly say the flat white was the best coffee I’ve had, even compared to all the Italian coffee we’ve enjoyed. It was perfectly made, hot and not over-milky, like some flat whites you order. It came quickly with lovely friendly service. Food all looked good that other people were having too. The conservatory is a really nice space to meet. Some other local places feel a bit cramped. Here you can chat comfortably in a spacious, light, bright space.

Lovely place and staff however the food was not good. I ordered the avocado smash and felt sick afterwards as it was so much avocado on top of a very hard and small piece of sourdough bread and one small egg. The vanilla latte was very sugary and I did not enjoy it.

stopped for a coffee and cake today. the cafe was busy at 11 am but service was quick. coffee was excellent with good choices of snacks.

We travelled down to Kobe on the weekend and had a great time doing so. The food was prepared quickly and arrived in a timely fashion after ordering, the staff were super friendly and answered questions I had about the coffee (house blend being Outpost Coffee, a really smooth blend). For brunch I had the Eggs Benedict which saw poached eggs with streaky bacon come atop and oven bottom muffin. I'm not usually a fan of muffins like this as they can get soggy, fast. However I'm happy to say mine was toasted just right! The thick hollandaise combined with the yokes of the perfectly cooked poached eggs to make one hell of a meal. My only minor issue was with ordering our food, we were quickly seated but we werent approached by any of the many staff to order our food for what felt like ages. I noticed the second page of the menu had a QR which you can table order from. This is a great addition to the service and if I'd known existed without finding it accidentally myself, it would've sped things up a fair bit! Maybe having the QR on the front page of the menu would've been the ticket combined with being told on entry that was an option order wise? Make no mistake, we would definitely return to Kobe, the venue, the food and the people are great. The ordering process just felt a bit of an after thought.

Food was unbelievably good from here. I judge a breakfast on the sausage quality (personally find if it's a quality sausage the rest of the ingredients are too). This place definitely had real quality ingredients and the coffee was so good. One of the best places I've been for breakfast and highly reccomend!

We have been in Kobe around 25 times since it opened and we have always loved the quality of the food and the service, we have even previously left a few 5 star reviews for both the cafe and for their incredible Sushi Restaurant. I am sad to say the last two times we have been in there the service has been significantly slower and less welcoming their usual standard. After waiting almost an hour for Waffles and Eggs Benedict this morning my wife very politely and almost apologetically asked a waiter about it, we then had a rude chap come to the table and rather condescendingly over explain that if you want fresh ingredients then you have to wait. We are not imbeciles and we didn't need a culinary lesson from this rude fella. We were not after fast food and we are always happy to wait for quality but we feel almost an hour is an excessive wait for Eggs Benedict and Waffles, especially since we have always had a similar order at Kobe served in a reasonable time. The food arrived lukewarm just minutes later, my poached eggs were overdone (like squash balls), the bread had gone hard and it had obviously been left out a long while since cooking, this left us laughing to ourselves about the lesson on 'fresh' we had just received from the arrogant **** of a waiter. This level of service is the reason we do not eat in Sorella, since they seem to have merged with Kobe I am sad to see us not receive the usual Kobe level of service. If we do return in future then we will do so when they first open in the hope their service will not be as stretched.

The best coffee and breakfast I have ever had. I always ask for an extra sausage on my breakfast as they are the best. The coffee is the best I have ever had, and where I compare any other coffee to. The staff are always fantastic considering I take two ferrell children, and they always find time to either entertain with conversation or ply them with cake. The best restaurant bar none

Had possibly the best birthday I’ve ever had at Kobe. The food was amazing (we already knew that - but honestly food of this standard/quality in Saddleworth is rare), one minor issue in an order for 10 people was sorted out immediately by the brilliant staff, and they humoured this raucous bunch far beyond what was probably reasonable for a Thursday, because they are lovely people. All in all made it one of my best ever birthdays, thank you to the whole crew and we’ll definitely be back soon (minus the excellent espresso martinis, don’t worry). Kobe - your employees are the best.

As a regular over many years this morning's visit was totally unacceptable. It appears Kobe have replaced all of their staff with a crew that aren't interested in the least. 40 minutes wait & not even drinks arrived, very disappointing, we will be picking a new regular cafe going forwards

Woof woof woof. That's my dog everytime we come to uppermill. Dragging me through the door to get his sausage. I've only been for breakfast and all 3 times the food is great

Cold coffee hard muffins very cold in shop we sat with wet coats on as it was that cold coffee is supposed to be hot not look warm after admitting trouble with machines still served 2nd cup warm only sorry won't be visiting again

Everything was lovely, just a little bit on the pricier side though. That's the only little fault I could pick.

New extension on the back now open giving more seating options when busy. Now an evening fusion menu available I believe. Can be a wait for food at busy weekend times.

Recommended to us by our Airbnb owners at Ridge View Farm. A lovely little coffee shop with amazing breakfasts! We had the Kobe full english and it was delish with homemade baked beans and the fantastic sausages. Service was great and they even had blankets incase you got cold out in the conservatory.

I had a lovely meal of Eggs Benedict with streaky bacon, and the staff were very friendly and attentive. One to recommend.

Good coffee and the cake was lovely. They also have a loyalty card. 5 stars from me.

Wont be going back, Hot Chocolate was cold, followed by a cold sausage muffin.

Lovely lunch at Kobe today, food great and a friendly atmosphere.

Our visit today was completely spoilt by the constant yapping and barking of small dogs in the cafe. Management should insist that dogs be kept under control and quiet. I am certainly not a dog hater, but there should be tighter controls on the presence of nuisance dogs.

Nice easy atmosphere. Very good coffee. We had tasty soup with toast. All in all a nice place to be.

Had some lunch and luv turmeric latte! Only one problem is they have got one toilet. Prepare to wait in the queue. Lovely staff.

Called in for drinks and snack recently. Staff very friendly. Cakes really nice and according to my wife the coffee also very good but as a tea drinker I have to beg you to do something about the tea. I ordered Earl Grey, came in a very nice glass teapot, looked great but tastes of absolutely nothing. Never been so disappointed with an Earl grey. It really was undrinkable, just faintly coloured hot water. The guy at the next table ordered the same thing and clearly felt the same as he also left without drinking it. If you do something about it I will be happy to come back

My wife and I went in at 5:30 last night for our Anniversary, we tried their bottomless sushi and drinks. I can honestly say that the food, the service and the atmosphere were all great. We wanted to try their sushi on the bottomless menu so we would know what to order in future when we buy sushi off the menu, I can honestly say that I loved it all and will be recommending it to family and friends.

Came here for Sushi and was surprised by the all you can eat Sushi deal - decided too try it out for date night and was not disappointed. Amazing food and great service. Some of the best pan-asian food we've eaten in greater Manchester at a reasonable price.

Very disappointing, disinterested waiting staff. Evening menus on the table at 9 in the morning and no staff around to ask if they served breakfast. The waitress didn't even bat an eye when we stood up to leave. I would give it a miss and go to one of the other much more welcoming coffee shops in uppermill

Nice little coffee shop, not a huge amount of tables and service is pretty slow in comparison to other places in the area. The food was really nice and reasonably priced so for an easy lunch it's a good choice. My only qualm with the food itself was the portions. They're small enough that you don't feel full and all of the iced coffees come in a small cup, so it's gone within 3 mouthfuls. Not a bad place at all, but I couldn't give it 5 stars unless the service was faster and the food slightly bigger portions.

This place is a little gem in Uppermill. Attentive staff and superb food every time. Gets busy but worth the wait. They are dog friendly and have a scenic little outdoor area at the back. I recommend the full English breakfast, quality!

Excellent all round, we went for lunch the day after boxing day, they were constantly busy but that never affected the brilliant service. Food was delicious, my new favourite in Uppermill.

Visited kobe with a friend for some brunch we ordered the avocado on sourdough bread and a vegan breakfast along with a hot chocolate and expresso. Perfect portion sizes, beautifully presented and most importantly tasted great . The atmosphere was warm and staff were welcoming I'll definitely be coming back again

Lovely atmosphere at this little coffee shop in Uppermill. My boyfriend and I went for breakfast, I ordered the porridge with honey and berries but asked for PB on the side, to which they did not disappoint and my boyfriend ordered pancakes with Nutella. The service here was great, very fast and friendly throughout. Not a cheap place for breakfast but maybe worth

Not a good choice if you care about coffee. The avocado on toast was very nice, but a little spoilt by excessive use of butter. The only coffee is espresso based and bland.
