We had an event at the local Snetterton Race circuit and needed a local overnight stay for 4 of us. This was a late booking with a tight budget but on the web the place looked nice, charismatic and within budget. Booking was through booking.com and I immediately received plenty of information regarding the booking and confirmations etc. On arrival these notes proved spot on with regards to location, key collection etc. The room was very clean, functional and if a little dated, well equipped. I think the microwave, fridge etc was a bit of a covid hangover but nevertheless a welcome addition. TV was a little limited on channels but other than that fine. We did eat in the main restaurant and I thought it was pretty good. It was not high end fussy nonsense, just a generous helping of good food and in my opinion reasonably priced. Staff and service was excellent. Beds were comfortable, room was quiet, all in all ticked all the boxes. Thank you to the team at the Willows.

Went to the willow house last night on the 9/9/24. Honestly the food was terrible. Had the southern fried chicken and my partner had the fish and chips. The fish was so soggy and tasted awful! Like it has gone off. The southern fried chicken was burnt and dry. The owner was just sat at the bar drinking...... Didn't really seem to care that the food was terrible. After I sent mine back she decided to come to the table and tell me that she can't take all the food off the bill. As had eaten it. Clearly hadn't looked at the plates, if she had wouldn't have come over and said that. As soon as I told her that if she looked the plate she'll see that's shes lying and she walked off. There was no offer of apology for the food not being up to standard, she just seemed more concerned to get back to sitting at the bar drinking. Awful food and customer service on her part. Owner should be ashamed of herself The only saving grace was the lovely girl serving behind the bar who was trying her best.

Had a 2 night stay and was somewhat disappointed with the overall experience. I know that it is has a 3 star rating but I would say it is at the lower end of that rating. The rooms were in need of reburfishment as they were a little unkempt and tired. Everything was communicated through text & email with very little human contact, although when we did have human contact the staff were very pleasant and helpful

Came to Willow House with a friend after a day at Snetterton to see if there were any room vacancies. The hotel we had previously booked in the area had closed down. Unfortunately Willow House could not accommodate us but the helpful and friendly staff were happy to help us try to find alternative arrangements using their computer and giving us recommendations. We returned the next evening to have a meal and it was awesome. The arancini and halloumi was really good and the roast beef was melt in the mouth. We will definitely try to stop in next time we are in the area

We dined here on Valentines night. Food quality and presentation was superb with excellent service by the very friendly happy professional staff and all at great value for money! We've previously used the Willow House for a family event. We had friends and relatives attend from across the country and many stayed overnight. They all commented on how good the rooms were and the comfort of the beds was a big plus. Cooked breakfast was superb and having stayed in family owned hotels/B&B's while working across the UK for 40 years it was the best I've ever had. Well done the chef! The staff were so accommodating and helpful ensuring all our needs were met. The food was again superb. Thank you to the Willow House who helped us make this event fun and very memorable! If you're looking for somewhere to stay, eat and drink in the heart of Norfolk I highly recommend this superb little gem! You won't be disappointed!

Absolutely poor, the salad looks wilted, the duck appears to be drowning in an overly thin gravy - not a jus… The smoked salmon cream cheese is just a fab blob on the plate and the Bruschetta is just a cheap Panini cut in half! The Carrot and Orange soup looks like you included dirt from the garden! The presentation was shoddy! Absolutely awful would never dine again! Don’t waste your money

While visiting family in Watton we decided to go out for lunch and we weren't disappointed. What a great find, this pub restaurant hidden back from the main road was very friendly and accommodating. We were greeted with a friendly smile and offered drinks before being shown to a table. After looking at the menu we placed our order of 3 all day breakfast, a burger meal, and the hot chilli and a few sides. The food arrived about 15 mins or so later and to say that the portion size was very large is understating. The breakfasts were massive and looked fantastic, the burger meal was huge and my wife said that it was really really good. I opted for the chilli that was pulled beef chilli and such a good flavour and the right side of hot that I would comfortably say that it was the best chilli that I have ever had, and I make a brilliant chilli even if I do say so. I would recommend a visit to anyone who find themselves in or around Watton. 5 star service and 5 star food.

As soon as we arrived was told certain items on menu not available that was not a problem. We ordered then was told my husbands choice not aviable again ok. He then choose sausages in Yorkshire pudding with mash and veg .I choose the goats cheese tarlet. Sister in law the lasagne. When meals arrived the tartlet was onions, spinach, mushrooms, with 2 slices of goats cheese topped with a flaky pastry top like the ones you get on a pie after looking there was a soggy pastry circle learking beneath the veg carnage .I cannot explain the taste didn't have any didn't eat much. The sausage and mash small Yorkshire pudding perhaps aunt Bessie's my husband said it had no taste not even the sausages. He didn't eat much. The lasagne was lovely apparently. When asked if everything was OK and we said not really was completely ignored.again when paying we said it wasn't up to usual standard we again were ignored. We paid no trip apart from get it better and worth the money .Will not be booking again awful and food apart from lasagne not edible

Invited a couple of family friends for food at the willow house as id heard ok things about it. The bar staff were friendly and served our drinks as any other bar staff would. I orded food. Starters - Scotch egg, Halloumi and nachos. Starters were good, although only 3 pieces of halloumi on a bed of salad was disappointing. Now, the mains, we ordered a burger with cheese, loin of pork with crackling and the chicken supreme. For context, the chicken supreme should be stuffed with dried tomatoes, pesto and cheese with a pesto sauce, sounds delicious right? It came like a roast dinner, smothered in gravy, no pesto sauce, served with soggy left over vegetables and potatoes that had barely any potato left in them from being reheated also wrapped in fatty barley cooked bacon! No mention of bacon on the menu. I asked the waitress why it was served with gravy and not pesto sauce, she couldnt answer and told me that if i wasnt happy then they would do something else, great service again from the bar staff. I said, whatever is quickest, like a burger with cheese, so my meal was taken to the kitchen. A few minutes later, a gentleman comes out, im presuming a chef, although clothed like any other customer, approched our table and said... thats the way the food comes, so if you want something else, youll be charged again. I questioned why the chicken comes like a roast dinner as the menu says pesto sauce. He said that the pesto sauce is in the chicken. Basically the attitude of, if i didnt like it, go somewhere else. He said that he can make me some pesto gravy (woo eye roll) but i couldnt justify paying for another meal when the meal I ordered wasnt served as advertised. The customer service from that member of staff was awful. The food came back to the table and thought id try it, no matter how unappealing it looked. It was literally the gravy with some pesto stirred in it. It was unpleasent but knew complaining would obviously not do anything to help me. So had my couple of mouthfuls and left it. Service was awful from im presuming the chef. Such a shame as a quiet pub that could do with the customers treats them like that. I wouldve been better getting a kebab. I will avoid the place in future.

I would be very happy to recommend this establishment to any person who expects good food and excellent value for money .

Went to the Willow house for a Group Christmas Dinner. The restaurant was warm, spacious and well laid out for the group on one long table. The food was served promptly, by pleasant helpful staff, and was generously portioned.

The staff and locals were very friendly, we were made to feel welcome and the food was amazing. As I had a large starter and main, could not manage everything and they were more than happy to make me up a doggy bag to take my veggy risotto home. Lovely surroundings, will go back again.

An historic thatched country style inn of rustic charm. A wonderful charming interior with an atmosphere aided and supported by a warm and cheerful female server. We selected the roast beef and pork dishes and when these arrived the selection of various vegetables which included Romanesque was incredible and the homemade gravy delicious. Excellent lunches enjoyed by all and is highly recommended by us .

My family and I plus our dog Holly had the pleasure of visiting the Willow House on three occasions over the two weeks we were on holiday. Each time we received a warm welcome and excellent food we met with our friends who live nearby for Sunday lunch they were so impressed to have found this gem so near to Dereham. We also took part in the Tuesday evening Quiz night and again was made to feel like one of the regular’s. I total recommend this venue and only wish it was near to where I live.

We popped in for some lunch. The staff was very nice and accommodating. They had great drink recommendations and our lunch was delicious! My husband had a coronation chicken sandwich and I had a jacket potato with coronation chicken and cheddar. The potato was huge and tasty. Our meals also came with side salads. Everything was fresh and lovely to eat. We'll be back for sure.

What a lovely place to eat, I went here today with my husband, Granddaughter and my 4week old great granddaughter for lunch. As it was a good day we sat outside in the sun and had an excellent meal, amazing portions and very tasty, nothing seemed too much trouble for the staff and it was a very relaxing time. The building is very old and quirky and the garden area had a few covered areas as well as open tables so could cater for any ones taste. Although we had been passed a few times this was our first visit and it will not be the last. A relaxing lunch for my granddaughter was what we were looking for and this delivered just the right atmosphere.

We stayed at the Willow House for two nights. We had a lovely big room around the back of the building which was very quiet. Extremely large comfortable bed with lots of pillows. The room had been recently decorated to a very high standard and was very clean. Tea and coffee were plentiful including lots of milk cartons. There was an empty fridge which meant we could add our own drinks and was a nice change from a fridge full of expensive miniatures! We ate two meals in the bar which were extremely large and very well cooked as was the full English each morning. It’s a busy pub catering for everyone in the village as well as visitors for short stays. It was a little noisy when we arrived but don’t let that put you off. It quietened down as the evening went on and all groups of people - young and old, couples and families were having a good time. Thank you The Willow House. If we’re in the area again, we’ll be back.

Stopped in on the off chance for lunch. Not as busy as I expected for a Friday lunch time. Despite ordering sandwiches we waited a long time for them. Fillings are very generous and accompanied by a side salad and crisps. We had a leisurely lunch and at no time did we feel hurried to leave once we were finished.

We've just returned from a weekend stay at the excellent Willow House. I cannot fault the staff, the food or the other guests and, although we stayed for just one night, we were made to feel like locals. Our room was extremely clean and comfortable with, perhaps, the only drawback being a very small shower room. Not an issue for us as we stayed just the one night, but it could have been a bit of a pain were we staying for much longer. But this is nitpicking - excellent value in excellent surroundings and I have no doubt we'll be back.

My mother and I arrived for lunch on Saturday. Firstly we were shown to a dirty table, rings from cups and salt or possibly sugar. As my mother has a walker and had taken her coat off and sat down I didn’t ask to be moved but cleaned the table myself with antibacterial wipes I always carry. We ordered drinks and food which you have to pay for upfront so no opportunity to refuse to pay. The drinks arrived, one of which was a bottle of water but no glass. I asked for a glass which the waiter came back with. The glass was dirty. I waited until the food arrived and asked for a clean glass. No apology was given for bringing me a dirty one. My mother had loaded fries at £11. Well I could see the crispy onions, crispy because they were those dried ones you buy in tubs in the supermarket, but no sign of any cheese. I started to eat my bacon, Brie and red onion chutney panini. Well I had bacon. I looked inside for the Brie. There was a sort of stain which was obviously the Brie. I’ve never managed to cut a slice of Brie that thin myself, I suspect they could see through it when they lifted it up. As for the chutney, I found a few soggy bits of tasteless brown stuff. I noticed my mother poking her chips about and asked her what she was doing, she said ‘looking for the cheese’. I asked if she’d found any and she said ‘not really’. She pushed the bowl away and said her legs were cold. We had been sat in front of the entrance and the draft was awful. I asked her if she wanted to go and she was out of her chair faster than I’ve seen someone of 88 move in a long time. All in all a most unpleasant lunch. £11 for a bowl of chips and dried onion, and £10.50 for a bacon roll. Very poor indeed.

I agree with previous reviews about setting and facilities - all great. We had visited on previous occasions and always enjoyed the experience. However I am guessing that we caught the Bedingfeld Arms at their leist desired serving time, and definitely on an off day. Our timing was for 6.30pm on Sunday 10th of November. Upon arrival, which was fortunately slightly early, we were shown to our table and advised that we had seven minutes to order, and that 60% of the menu was not available. We had not been advised prior to our arival (they had our phone number) of the tight timing or lack of menu items. Food was ordered - 3 burgers and one Pheasant dish as this was all they had. Upon arrival of the food the waitress, who was clearly under pressure from the front of house lady and the Chef, was dealing with who had what relish for which burger etc... when the front of house lady came over and lambasted the waitress saying something about the Chef needing to be informed propery - no idea what that was about, but it was seriously cringeworhty and unprofessional to have been holding that conversation in front of us. We duduced that the Chef was the worry for the staff at front of house, and it seemed that he and the kithcn staff just didn't want to be there. The food was good, and the waitress and bar staff extremely pleasant - they were apologising for the Chef and the restrictions to our meal - which gave us a good idea of where the pressure and unpleasant atmosphere was coming from. I have written directly to the Bedingfeld Arms via there website, but as of two weeks later I have had no reply. Seeing all of the other reviews, which mirror my previous experience, I would just recommend avoiding a Sunday evenings.
