Always busy but the staff work hard to keep things flowing and so there is rarely much of a wait. Food arrives piping hot and well cooked. I ordered burger, chips and 6 onion rings with lemonade which came to £7 something which I thought was very reasonable. However to add a slice of cheese to the burger cost £1.50 plus! I like the fact you can order and pay from your table it suits the introvert in me. My partner likes the free refills on hot drinks I generally find the place a little too noisy for my liking as its quite a large room and it nearly always full. The atmosphere is pleasant however. The toilets are on the second floor which may be a problem for those with mobility issues however the stalls are roomy and clean. All in all a decent place to pass some time while waiting for your bus or to take a break from the strain of shopping!

Some wonderful staff, but the food is as with all Weatherspoons. Decent on a good day. Atmosphere was nice. Staff make this place.

Food arrived quickly and was great value. Good to see the staff taking concern for customers with one chap shouting to himself in a comedy voice playing a gambler!

Very busy, staff didn’t take the orders very well as they didn’t even know their own menu.. Asides from that the food was spot on and was a good atmosphere overall!

Popped in on a Sunday afternoon. The pub was about half full but most people were outside so there was plenty of room inside. The food arrived promptly and was good quality and good value for money. The staff were very pleasant. Couldn't ask for anything more. Have been twice now and will visit again.

Young man absolutely disgusting behaviour so rude to my mother in law then she was expected to apologise for tapping his elbow what a joke never will we return made us all feel so uncomfortable for a tap and she kindly asked for our table to be cleaned his over reaction was totally unnecessary

Sizeable and comfortable town centre Wetherspoons pub. Also with a large beer garden at the side. Staff helpful and friendly enough. Enjoyed good breakfast here, cooked well. A good place to just go for a beer, eat or just a coffee with friends.

Exactly what you'd expect from a Wetherspoons. Good prices, ok food with brilliant service. A good place for a quick lunch during the week, food was on the table less than 10 minutes after ordering.

I have left a review many years for The Wilfred Owen, and at the time it was poor. But in the last few years there has been a big improvement in the food, service and availability of products. My most recent visit today was just as good. Served quickly and the was food hot. No problems at all.

If I could give it zero - I would … Side order was put on child’s place and not served with the meal ordered. A big discussion ensued without the manager noticing accepting that it was a mistake. Wow. No customer service skills here - avoid

Normally come here for breakfast on my day off, however, won't be from now on. Paid £15.98 for two breakfasts and drinks. I said I did not want beans, but was charged for them. No offer was made by the officious bar person to replace the beans. I pointed out that I had been charged for beans but had already presented my card. Stroppy individual said 'Well I did offer'. Yes, after I had paid. Effectively the attitude of the staff has cost The Wilfred Owen two customers! Get some decent staff with customer service skills!

Early evening tea, dood tasty service as expected but atmosphere dull. But i didn't expect anything else.

I had fish chips with mushy peas and curry and a cherry Pepsi The staff were very nice the toilets so good. It was really nice. I'm definitely gonna go back again. I hopefully they're get the Burger next time. I saw someone else having it and it looked really nice

The food is fine but the beans are too sweet and stale and the hot chocolate is quite discussing for me

I’ve been here several times, I liked everything, except the waiters, they try to clear the table too quickly, I went out to smoke outside, I come back 3 minutes later, and my table is empty, they took away everything, food and drinks, you should always ask the client whether he’s finished eating or not ,

Always clean and tidy, it's more of a restaurant than a bar, and the customers reflect that. There's no gambling machines to play on or fun things for children to do, but they do have a TV and a fireplace. UK law 9pm no children allowed. Staff have never been less than perfect, and I feel safe with them. No terrible music. It doesn't get very loud in there or over crowded, which is why I love it. I also love that my food always tastes great, looks presentable, and I can order more cocktail pitchers to my table from the app. Better than most (tables are not sticky and there are condiments) There are a few steps and a slightly steep ramp to access the building. Since almost all Wetherspoons have the bathrooms above the restaurant, this one is no exception except there doesn't seem to be an alternative way to get up the staircase. There is a concrete back garden space that is up a couple more steps with benches and lovely flowers. There's a car park nearby that's a quick walk to get to, which is free during out of hours (always check!) and lit up at night.

Diabolical breakfast. Undercooked bacon raw mushroom and cold beans. Disgusting no other word for it

I did not receive the food that I ordered via the app. Apparently, the only frier they had, was on the blink, affecting the 'Pub Classics' more than any other section of the menu. Can you imagine the calamity if the microwave gave up the ghost! They would have to give the 'chef' an unscheduled day off! Would not recommend at all. Disappointed with the food that was provided, I know it's not gourmet cuisine, but come on, there are basic standards to adhere to.

Frier on the blink! Can you believe that the frier was on the blink! I did not receive what I ordered. Bland, filler type food, not that it filled me up! The only positive was the cheap nice beer!

As with all wetherspoons crazy cheap! I believe the Wilfred Owen had the nation's cheapest pint of Carlsberg only 2-3 months ago! Besides being cheap and cheerful the food was great and despite the bar being a large open space it didn't get too loud; you could actually have a conversation! Need to go here more often.

The food (pizza! Why isn’t it on the list to comment on below!?!?) and beer were great, the staff were polite, hospitable, and helpful. Some other clientele were a unnecessarily noisy but otherwise all was good! Thanks!

Breakfast was best we've had from the spoons we've been to and the service staff were very friendly and upbeat. Marked down on atmosphere as it gets a bit loud with background noise. Just need some low level music or something to break it up but that the case with every spoons you go to.

Went for breakfast, ordered a normal breakfast would never order a veggie breakfast and they give me a veggie breakfast and did not offer me a refund or change the breakfast, won’t be back. Attitude from the manager was awful.

Visited twice this week and on both occasions the customer service was outstanding. On one occasion I ordered 3 breakfasts but staff noticed there were 4 of us, so the bought us an extra plate in case we wanted to share. Very thoughtful! They weren't to know our disabled child was nil by mouth. Yes the place could do with a refurbishment but you have to recognise the great prices and great staff. This place has a ramp for wheelchair users too although it's a little steep for self propelled users or heavy chairs.

The food was nothing short of awful, it was not too warm when put on the table and when asked how I was enjoying it I said as much .... the lady who worked there then proceeded to remonstrate that I was not at the table when she served it, when to be fair I was only getting a refill of my coffee, but the way she went on and on about it you'd have thought o wax away on a fortnight's holiday. I normally tell people to try for themselves and not read too much onto my experience BUT on this occasion I'd say "AVOID AT ALL COSTS"

Food was good and beer was cheap. Service quick, very good. Bit of a musty smell on the stairs going up to the toilets but looks like the carpet has been down a while. Staff were friendly and efficient

Friendly staff, our meal was hot and freshly cooked I thought the chips were a bit dry. It was 3/4 full but I thought it didn't have much of an atmosphere. Pleasant for a quick meal.

Served by a lady called Jas, I'm assuming a manager as she appeared to be training someone. Just a downright unpleasant woman. If someone is spending their own leisure time and hard earned money to come out in your pub we don't expect to be callously ignored and have our drinks slammed on the table after an online order (I have hip difficulties). No wonder the place is dead if thats the attitude you're met with!

Always busy. Good value food wise. Nice and central in town.

Aesthetically, probably one of the least character full Spoons but absolutely no issue with the food and service. Ordered six small plates - three varieties of chicken, loaded chips, pizza and halloumi fries. All came quickly, generously portioned and piping hot. Am guessing poor reviews came when the place was understaffed and buzzing. Go when quieter and should be fine.

Had large mixed grill with a diet pepsi reasonable priced.

No longer value for money, have been to Wetherspoons pubs in different locations, over the years, never been the best food around, but was value for money, the last few times we have been haven’t rated the food, portion size has gone down, quality hasn’t improved, if it was my choice wouldn’t have chosen to go there, but it was a group of family and friends, was dissatisfied with my meal, it was hunters chicken, jacket potatoe meal, the jacket potatoes was dry and overcooked brown inside. I did complain, was asked what I wanted a replacement or a refund, chose the refund, would only have a drink there in future, thebar was busy, and it was clean, that’s the good points from this visit, much better quality and prices elsewhere near by, we ate later on in the day at a lovely old pub, the food was all homemade, and much better value, for money, we had gone for the day out in Oswestry.

Large breakfast, no eggs at 0900 hours. Eggs replaced with extra bacon and purchased side of black pudding. Food hot and freshly cooked. Staff friendly and everywhere clean. The cleaner was still in and finishing off, she really was giving everywhere a good clean and deserves a mention as was very throughly cleaning everything. Having ate breakfast at other Wetherspoons, this was easily the best.

Typical 'spoons. Good food, friendly staff, great value. Perhaps not the place for a quiet meal on a Friday evening: rather noisy as some guests have no concept of appropriate volume.

It is good caravanning in different areas as it is an opportunity to dine at a Wetherspoons not near home. When we arrived there was a leaflet on the table with details of the Manager's Special for the day and it was fish, chips and mushy peas for £4.99,not including a drink. We thought it would be a small fish and chips but were pleasantly surprised that it was a large one and very filling with lots of chips and peas as well. We had a pint and a half of beer at £1.71 a pint so it was a bargain meal which we enjoyed. I must admit though that the service was a lot slower than it normally is in a Wetherspoons pub but we weren't really in a hurry.

I love bringing my mum here for a meal, lovely and clean and the staff here are very welcoming, the food is delicious 😋

Great deal for breakfast and refill coffee. Just a little tricky in there with a pram, especially if it's busy.

Was fairly empty when there. Noticed couple of tables that weren't cleared. Cheap drinks though.

Found it slightly disappointing

I visited this placed yesterday morning after getting trolled the day before about myself and my business which has affected me and the duty manager who I don’t know came up to me and said if anyone gives me any hassle whilst I’m here then he will sort it , he had read the upsetting rubbish about me on Facebook and still offered support whilst I was in the pub, I actually didn’t know him but his kind words made my day and it goes to prove anyone who knows me won’t believe the rubbish that woman wrote about me, the fruit salad arrived within minutes of ordering as well….. thank you

Despite ordering via the app the wait for food was considerably long considering the pub was quiet and no one behind the bar. When food arrived it was poor quality and parts were not edible at all for myself and my disabled child, also ended up with dry powdery dust on my face from what I presume was the aircon above the table which was the final straw. drinks and food left and will never eat there again. ( the only reason I didn't bring this up to a member of staff is because there were no staff around)

Food was pretty good, went on the Thursday evening and had the curry deal which was lovely. Staff a little slow at the bar but overall not too bad.

Now don’t get me wrong, I love Spoons it’s cheap as chips and we go there often. On this occasion we stopped in for pre theatre drinks and a quick meal. My fish was so hard, I think it had been deep fried on the surface of the sun, for the kitchen staff to send this out to customers is unacceptable, I ate it as I was hungry and didn’t want to be late for the theatre, but come on Oswestry Spoons, you can do better than this, take a leaf out of Llandudno Spoons’ book, their fish and chips is first class.

Always decent grub for the price and fast service.. can't beat a weatherspoons breakfast.
