The Wilfred Owen in Shropshire

I've been here a few times now and I have to say it's a fine establishment. Boshhhhhh.

Not sure if there cleaner is blind but same dirt been on the stairs for what looks like years maybe she needs a dog to sniff out the grime

Visited The Wilfred Owen JD with my wife for a casual meal, and we had a great experience. We went for the £14.99 combo, which included two portions of chicken wings and a pizza – all really tasty and well-prepared. We also shared a pitcher of Pimm’s, which was refreshing and went well with the food. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, just like you'd expect from a JD Wetherspoon pub. Although I didn’t notice any free parking, there might be some nearby – I was only visiting for the day, so didn’t explore too much. Overall, it's a great spot for a relaxed meal and drink. Would definitely drop by again if I’m in the area!

Guinness zero was £2.63 a pint .. which is really good value!!!

Whats not to like with beer at 2 pounds a pint.

Went for breakfast on a Saturday morning...quite busy at 9am already. I had the traditional breakfast and husband had sausage on toast...we bought a coffee and tea and after that they are unlimited..excellent value for money.. Good quality sausages.. Decor bit dated but staff friendly. Beautiful baskets out front

I ate here on 2 occasions with my children in the last 2 months the first time my son chose fish and chips he ate half of the fish and said it tasted off he was sick for 2 days after this, My daughter had the Spaghetti bolognaise and on the car journey home she was sick. Won't be eating here again as to much of a coincidence that both kids were sick after eating here Drinks are cheap but wouldn't recommend food 1 star from me.

just visited for tea on way home. must say excellent experience from the first greeting at the bar to having our food. fish and chips perfect and excellent value. special mention for Tony the duty manager great customer service and a credit to the company. Table 53.

Food good value for money. And meal deals etc., plenty of choice. Quick service at the bar and food came quickly.

On the 03/03/25, we came into wetherspoons as we were coming in for our lunch. My 2 sons wanted Ice-cream so we sent my youngest son up to gain life skills. The barman asked for his ID which was totally ridiculous as it was not for alcohol. Thanks to the other barman he apologies to us and told us to ignore everything he had said to us. This had knocked my sons confidence badly. Also the rude barman got our order wrong aswell but we did not make a fuss. We asked for 2 bowls of Ice-cream and brownies. But instead there was 2 extra scoops with the brownies and no bowls. The rude barman had put us off coming back as we were on holiday and still had 4 more days to go.

Bailey Head is perfect for a relaxing time, great food, drinks.

Cold coffee, hard eggs, cold bacon and sausages etc

This place will never change, every item in the traditional breakfast was cold, not tepid, cold, I left mine for fear of food poisoning, my friend had ordered the breakfast muffin with egg bacon and cheese, that to was cold, how can you produce a cold toasted muffin? The egg was in the same state as mine which means room temperature with a runny yoke, ecoli here we come, disgusting and dangerous. The Manager refused to even acknowledge that anything was wrong, we'll never make the mistake of going again to see if it's gotten better as it wont, the place is still the dirty grubby under maintained pub it's been for a number of years now, leaking toilets onto the tables, sticky carpets, tables and chairs, constantly running out of food items and "having technical problems" in the kitchen. It's become a standing joke in town, how can you run out of gas for the pumps, run out of salt and vinegar and the best one is what people in town call NO FISH FRIDAY at Weths, yep the place is a disgrace. Avoid as there are plenty of other cleaner and safer venues to eat.

weatherspoons was 'lit' as the kids would say!! cheers sharon for the facebook like. beer tasted like it was left out on the dashboard of a 2006 honda civic on a sunny day but we thug it out. got a bit stuck in the disabled toilets but hey ho cheerio.

While the bailey head is the best pub for drinking in Oswestry, for a chilled out indulgent time hiding from the world with a refillable tea and coffee and cheap food, friendly locals and a nice vibe amongst the staff and management (so it seems to me) this place can't be beat

Worst weatherspoons I’ve visited. Food and service disgusting. Staff can’t cope with confrontation regarding late food orders and bad attitude. Should be shut down.

Fabulous place to watch the world go by

Breakfasts are popular here with regular customers for good reason, service is speedy by smiley staff. The only item I would never order again is the scrambled eggs on toast, I ordered it on a quiet new years day morning so plenty of time for chef do do it properly. I was disapointed to find that mine consisted of slightly warm hard boiled eggs chopped up quite small and spread on the buttered toast - oh dear. I didnt return it because my dining companion that bought it for me might have caused a scene - cringe. You can do better .

literally waited over an hour for food which was stone cold. it looked like it had been scrapped off others people plates or dropped on the floor. The staff are like slugs. No motivation whatsoever.

Had a spaghetti colognes Awful small bowl with wet watery spaghetti in it meat well not sure if it was left it after complaining about taste size etc. Go to Wots Cookin opposite bigger better cooked food .Avoid

Cheap drink and food. Food not bad to be fair, well priced.

Typical Weatherspoons, all ok, lunch time visit, no issues

I have left a review many years ago for The Wilfred Owen, and at the time it was poor. But in the last few years there has been a big improvement in the food, service and availability of products. My most recent visit today was just as good. Served quickly and the was food hot. No problems at all.

Clean and well run Spoons. As usual the prices were excellent and the overhead air ducting was as interesting as ever.

Had a lovely meal there on Sunday eve, Christmas special ,£11,99 ,roast turkey veg ,meal hot , plentiful, service was good, place was clean and tidy proy a dozen pers in.

Just your average Wetherspoons, nothing out of the ordinary.

Waited 20 mins for soup but no chicken strips. Waited another 40 minutes then got told I hadn't ordered chicken strips.i had ordered onion rings and chicken wings.she went off came back with receipt didn't show me receipt.so I said I would go to the man on the till. Then she went off to get chicken strips that then came with our main meals. Nasty rude girl she was so obnoxious and boby language was disgusting.i go there a lot for tea and the same girl is horrible rude. Why are you employing people like that. Won't go back

Well waiting over a hour and did not think much off it and my friend waited over a hour for hers and her husband had his soup an hour before her food and they got my friends ordear wrong as well want be coming here any more

Had a couple of drinks with work colleagues before a meal, friendy staff, great choice of beers, had 3 Erdingers, can't beat Witherspoon a for value 😀

Took friends who have never been here before...breakfast was good value but the unlimited tea and coffee stand was a joke for a Saturday morning...place was full and only one machine working which led to long queues 10 deep to get tea and coffee....staff friendly but something should have been done as hot water for tea available behind bar but if you didn't know that you queued for ages... Breakfast good and served hot..

Ahhh, been five years since we've been back and the first thing going was lunch at Wetherspoons in Oswestry. It hasn't changed. It has remained just as we like it...good food, fair prices. It was pizza for hubby and the scampi for me...hot, good and filling and the server (with her beautiful red hair) was a delight. Yep, we is back!

Order an alcohol free cider on the app. Brought to the table and the server’s asked for ID which I’ve happily provided. Then told as my licence is out of date it’s not valid. Despite me explaining that it’s still valid as a government issued document and explained it’s a medical licence and the reason why it’s still valid. I’m covered in tattoos… He’s also decided to refer to me as a bloke despite clearly being a girl with bright pink hair and pink sunglasses on the table… Bit of a joke really for an alcohol free beverage. I’m 26. Clearly your government issued documents don’t apply god forbid someone else comes in with a medical driving licence 😂

Good service and food. Value for money.

Did not eat so cannot comment on food but it was disappointing. We usually do not go into Weatherspoons as they do not allow dogs but this time we were with friends.

Good value breakfast, I had the freedom breakfast and husband had the sausage on toast... Everything for price was great. Outside is fab with flowers and outside seating area but inside is dated and feels old fashioned. Buy tea or coffee and get unlimited refills...poor quality tea bags and not as good as they used to be..

Building looks unappealing from the street, but fine inside. Mostly one big room, so plenty of tables but can be rather noisy. Decent sized outdoor area at the back. Service fine, only had coffee but no complaints and both machines working. Gents toilets a bit oddly laid out but fine. No dogs allowed, which won't be to everyone's taste, but not being a dog person I appreciate having somewhere to eat/drink that isn't obsessed with being dog friendly at all costs! For a cheap drink or fill-up, this hits the spot.

Absolutely lovely little gem .the customer service was ace nothing was a problem to them . food was cooked to perfection and a great friendly atmosphere even when my asd 7 yrs old was having a meltdown nobody stared tutted etc which is a rare thing so felt totally at ease .the bar staff waved through the window on way back down from the very clean toilets as well which again i thought was great definitely go back

Fish and chips good BUT no vinegar.....

Tabor 42 clean table, breakfast ordered on the app nice and easy, coffee very good value , breakfast hot tasty and cooked well, service was very good the young lady was efficient and professional, went to outside area after breakfast, very clean tidy and lovely hanging baskets, overall extremely happy with every thing. Thank you team Wilfred Owen.

Had the curry night special. Curry cold. Nan bread and popadoms greasy .chips also cold. Ate there a few times, food always rubbish.. gave them benefit of the doubt but will never eat there again. Food is woeful

Food was excellent. The staff are very welcoming and friendly. The staff ensured that everything was ok with your meal. A great touch.

Cheap and cheerful like all Wetherspoons

Been a while since I visited last, looks like new carpet and pleasant atmosphere for a cheeky late breakfast.

Went to wilfred owen with family, needed to go for a piss and was greeted by a staff member after at the table with my family and accused of drug dealing because i spoke to a lad for a second on the way up to toilets 😂 poor service and staff wouldnt show me ‘drug dealing’ nor would they call police. Manager was so stuck up that im surprised there wasn't a stick coming out her mouth.

Had a mixed grill, cannot complain chips crispy, meat not bad cooked but that half tomato either cook it over leave it raw🤢, apple crumble the filling was nice and ice cream but the crumble itself, I'll be open it needs cooking more it was like powder in the mouth, I mean they have masters the other desserts but always seem to fail with the crumble,

Always busy but the staff work hard to keep things flowing and so there is rarely much of a wait. Food arrives piping hot and well cooked. I ordered burger, chips and 6 onion rings with lemonade which came to £7 something which I thought was very reasonable. However to add a slice of cheese to the burger cost £1.50 plus! I like the fact you can order and pay from your table it suits the introvert in me. My partner likes the free refills on hot drinks I generally find the place a little too noisy for my liking as its quite a large room and it nearly always full. The atmosphere is pleasant however. The toilets are on the second floor which may be a problem for those with mobility issues however the stalls are roomy and clean. All in all a decent place to pass some time while waiting for your bus or to take a break from the strain of shopping!

Some wonderful staff, but the food is as with all Weatherspoons. Decent on a good day. Atmosphere was nice. Staff make this place.

Food arrived quickly and was great value. Good to see the staff taking concern for customers with one chap shouting to himself in a comedy voice playing a gambler!

Very busy, staff didn’t take the orders very well as they didn’t even know their own menu.. Asides from that the food was spot on and was a good atmosphere overall!

Popped in on a Sunday afternoon. The pub was about half full but most people were outside so there was plenty of room inside. The food arrived promptly and was good quality and good value for money. The staff were very pleasant. Couldn't ask for anything more. Have been twice now and will visit again.

Young man absolutely disgusting behaviour so rude to my mother in law then she was expected to apologise for tapping his elbow what a joke never will we return made us all feel so uncomfortable for a tap and she kindly asked for our table to be cleaned his over reaction was totally unnecessary

Sizeable and comfortable town centre Wetherspoons pub. Also with a large beer garden at the side. Staff helpful and friendly enough. Enjoyed good breakfast here, cooked well. A good place to just go for a beer, eat or just a coffee with friends.

Exactly what you'd expect from a Wetherspoons. Good prices, ok food with brilliant service. A good place for a quick lunch during the week, food was on the table less than 10 minutes after ordering.

If I could give it zero - I would … Side order was put on child’s place and not served with the meal ordered. A big discussion ensued without the manager noticing accepting that it was a mistake. Wow. No customer service skills here - avoid

Normally come here for breakfast on my day off, however, won't be from now on. Paid £15.98 for two breakfasts and drinks. I said I did not want beans, but was charged for them. No offer was made by the officious bar person to replace the beans. I pointed out that I had been charged for beans but had already presented my card. Stroppy individual said 'Well I did offer'. Yes, after I had paid. Effectively the attitude of the staff has cost The Wilfred Owen two customers! Get some decent staff with customer service skills!

Early evening tea, dood tasty service as expected but atmosphere dull. But i didn't expect anything else.

I had fish chips with mushy peas and curry and a cherry Pepsi The staff were very nice the toilets so good. It was really nice. I'm definitely gonna go back again. I hopefully they're get the Burger next time. I saw someone else having it and it looked really nice

The food is fine but the beans are too sweet and stale and the hot chocolate is quite discussing for me

I’ve been here several times, I liked everything, except the waiters, they try to clear the table too quickly, I went out to smoke outside, I come back 3 minutes later, and my table is empty, they took away everything, food and drinks, you should always ask the client whether he’s finished eating or not ,

Always clean and tidy, it's more of a restaurant than a bar, and the customers reflect that. There's no gambling machines to play on or fun things for children to do, but they do have a TV and a fireplace. UK law 9pm no children allowed. Staff have never been less than perfect, and I feel safe with them. No terrible music. It doesn't get very loud in there or over crowded, which is why I love it. I also love that my food always tastes great, looks presentable, and I can order more cocktail pitchers to my table from the app. Better than most (tables are not sticky and there are condiments) There are a few steps and a slightly steep ramp to access the building. Since almost all Wetherspoons have the bathrooms above the restaurant, this one is no exception except there doesn't seem to be an alternative way to get up the staircase. There is a concrete back garden space that is up a couple more steps with benches and lovely flowers. There's a car park nearby that's a quick walk to get to, which is free during out of hours (always check!) and lit up at night.

Diabolical breakfast. Undercooked bacon raw mushroom and cold beans. Disgusting no other word for it

Frier on the blink! Can you believe that the frier was on the blink! I did not receive what I ordered. Bland, filler type food, not that it filled me up! The only positive was the cheap nice beer!

I did not receive the food that I ordered via the app. Apparently, the only frier they had, was on the blink, affecting the 'Pub Classics' more than any other section of the menu. Can you imagine the calamity if the microwave gave up the ghost! They would have to give the 'chef' an unscheduled day off! Would not recommend at all. Disappointed with the food that was provided, I know it's not gourmet cuisine, but come on, there are basic standards to adhere to.

As with all wetherspoons crazy cheap! I believe the Wilfred Owen had the nation's cheapest pint of Carlsberg only 2-3 months ago! Besides being cheap and cheerful the food was great and despite the bar being a large open space it didn't get too loud; you could actually have a conversation! Need to go here more often.

The food (pizza! Why isn’t it on the list to comment on below!?!?) and beer were great, the staff were polite, hospitable, and helpful. Some other clientele were a unnecessarily noisy but otherwise all was good! Thanks!

Breakfast was best we've had from the spoons we've been to and the service staff were very friendly and upbeat. Marked down on atmosphere as it gets a bit loud with background noise. Just need some low level music or something to break it up but that the case with every spoons you go to.
