I’ve been coming to Wild Flour for many years on holiday, I have never been disappointed. I can definitely say that the cakes and soups are amazing. There’s an extensive menu but I never get further than those, I’m sure that the rest will be as good. Quirky and pretty decor with local paintings available to buy, plus locally made crafts and gifts. A true treasure. Also dog friendly.

Chanced upon this wee cracker of a place whilst heading up to Aviemore for a short break. Delicious home baking, tea served from a china pot , cups and saucers , a jug containing fresh milk - just what a proper cafe should be serving. Great value for money , service with a smile - we just had to pop in on the way back home two days later!

1st time trying this place and will be the last, food looks nothing like what it does on website, got a toastie which was basically 2 bits off toasted bread with minimum filling put together and stuffed into a paper bag for takeaway,no salad or nothing,a far better and more present experience off a cafe just down the road called antlers,I strongly advise anyone to use is,the only reason I went here today was antlers is closed on a Tuesday, like I said at the start this will be my 1st and last visit to this cafe.. very very poor

I stopped here with my children pre-christmas before visiting the Cairngorm Alpaccas. It had just hit lunch time. We were the only people there. The menu is very limited. Sandwiches, toasties and 2 soup choices essentially. I know that small businesses are struggling with increasing costs and energy prices. But there was a complete lack of flare. Crisp crumbs were on the plate with our toasties. Our first order of three cheese and ham toasties arrived as sandwiches but this was quickly rectified. There were very limited cakes and baked goods (it was the end of the week, so most things had been sold?) . A lot of empty plates under cloches. It was extremely quiet and peaceful and our server was friendly. It is cute and the atmosphere was relaxed. The food just needs to be presented with a bit more TLC.

Tried to pop in for a bite to eat today at 2.35pm to be greeted with “are you sitting in or taking away”. If they had just looked past me they would have seen there were 3 of us including my 88 year old Mum on sticks standing inside the door. Explained we were looking to sit in we were told it was drinks and cakes only as they stopped serving lunch 5 mins earlier at 2.30pm. I understood that maybe they couldn’t offer us hot meals but when I asked if they could do a sandwich I was told no. This was very disappointing especially when we were trying to avoid places at peak lunchtime. They did try to offer suggestions but didn’t come up with anywhere. They obviously have reasons for this type of operation, however this was very disappointing and not particularly welcoming. We drove along the road to Kingussie and had a delicious bite of the lunch there.

Stopped off for a quick bite while driving through Newtonmore. Taken aback by the 'odd' decor, but realise that everyone taste is different and some people may appreciate heaps of velour and soft furnishings, but the overwhelming impression was one of grubbiness. This is understandable given that velour, knitted antimacassars, and soft furnishings etc are dust catchers at the best of times, but during a pandemic? This is the reason most responsible hospitality venues have stripped their premises back to hard surfaces only where possible. The icing on the cake however (pun intended) was a globule of 'something' stuck to the table surface which the server removed and said was a globule of paper which 'must have been missed'. We then wiped the table with an anti-bacterial wipe and(I'm sorry to say) it was filthy. When we showed it to the server she said not to worry - the table had been sanitised. I think not - a wee rub doon wi' a tattie scone would have done a better job. Never again......(ever).

Beautiful tasty cheese scone with our Cullen skink. Was pleased to see staff had masks and ensuring customers were socially distanced. Only wee complaint was the soup could have been a bit hotter which is why it’s a four instead of five. Also great idea to pin the menus on the nearest thing to the table to avoid handling. However this made the menu very hard to read. Otherwise it was perfect and wish I’d had room for a cake.

Called in for a late lunch, whilst the menu seemed quite varied at first what most of the items turned out to be were toasted sandwiches! Lots of cakes on offer on the board but when we went to actually pick some, the majority were gone just a display of empty plates. I’m not one for leaving negative reviews but felt I had to warn others. We were a family group travelling up North and had a look at TripAdvisor for ideas for lunch on the way.Not sure if it was an off-day (it was quiet when we visited - only us and another couple) but we were so disappointed with the service, atmosphere and the quality of the food. Soup you could literally mould into shapes it was so thick (average, and no more, taste), hair in the cheese toastie and when returned, a literal shriek from the kitchen ‘What?!’, followed by the older lady bringing the toastie back to the table so my daughter could point to the hair! No apology and a statement to the effect another one would be made - my daughter had somewhat lost her appetite by then but was too shocked by the attitude of the lady to decline.Another ordered a ‘homemade’ pizza for £8.50 (if I remember correctly). It was burnt around the edges and inedible so there was a lot of wastage. As for homemade...it was likened to a Tesco pizza with an extra topping added.Personally, I ordered, I believe, a cheese and haggis melt which, from the menu description, sounded quite tasty, (along with the aforementioned malleable soup) and I basically received a haggis and cheese toastie...none of the trimmings...Unfortunately, not one person in our party of 8 enjoyed their meal or experience. Our initial jovial spirit disappeared very quickly when visiting and we just wanted to leave asap. It was, quite frankly, embarrassing. There was more soup/food left in/on the bowls/plates than we’d eaten and the whole unsavoury experience left us a rather expensive £80 down for an extremely sub-standard lunch. To top it off, when leaving, my other daughter nipped to the loo as the rest of us beat a hasty retreat. The staff obviously didn’t realise we hadn’t all left and my daughter could hear the staff discussing us! Shocking!Sorry, I don’t recommend.

I was in the wild flour for lunch with my granny and auntie. I asked the waitress for a cheese sandwich and leek and potato soup. Waited around 20 minuets for it. I have to admit the soup was lovely however the sandwich not as much! Asking for a cheese sandwich I assumed it was going to be a plain cheese sandwich as that’s want I asked for, however this not the case it contained pickles, red onion and CLUMPS of cheese. My auntie kindly asked the waitress for a new PLAIN sandwich she said “no bother” then an older woman approached me very rudely and basically said I cannot receive a new sandwich however I still had to pay the whloe price. Even if it was just a plain sandwich I still would have made a complaint at the state of the cheese as seen in the photograph.

This is a great coffee shop on the High Street in Newtonmore that serves great “proper” coffee and homemade cakes and snacks. Ice cream is available as is a small selection of local crafts.

Have been here before and always thought it was great. Today food very good as usual but service awful. Waitress forgot our coffees despite reminders. No apologies. rOwner/ Cook told us we had to ‘wait our turn’. Dirty cup. Tried to charge us for scone that didn’t arrive. No bill! Expected to pay what you are told . Hope people don’t think this is typical Scottish hospitality.

Stopped in at the Wild Flour en route to Fort William. Friendly service, quirky decorated coffee shop, great coffee, and superb, proper, old fashioned, yummy scones. We had the fruit scones, soooo good. On the way back we stopped in again, this time we savoured the cheese scones. Again, just so good. And dog friendly, so we got to pat a beautiful cavapoo on holiday from London. What’s not to like? Hugely recommend.

Susie and her team are very welcoming to all visitors, we visited her lovely cafe twice in a week and on both occasions were delighted with the fayre.

Welcoming staff (young). Ambience friendly. clean but the food was disappointing. Cullen Skink was watery white soup with a touch of smoked fish. And waited long enough that it might have been in the process of being caught at Cullen!!! Cullen Skink should not be "blitzed". It was not worth £1.50 extra.

Used to come here a few times a year and it was lovely. Owned I think by an older person and had their family helping them out. Food was always good. Great views and lots of lovely gifts to buy. Came back to find the cafe and shop has new operators (the owners still own the place). The food choice was much less and I’m afraid I didn’t like the cake - too heard. The coffee however was excellent. Most of the gifts have gone too. I’m afraid it’s just lost something in the change. Work to do to bring back the sparkle.

We went for takeaway before getting ferry to Stornoway. Ordered an egg roll and bacon and egg roll. On opening when we got to our car we could not believe how poor they looked. Toasted stake rolls, overdone fried eggs and overdone bacon. Will not go back to this cafe again!

The traditional Scottish breakfast was served in a large portion—definitely filling for me. I loved the sausages. It was my first time trying haggis, and it was fine; definitely worth a try.
