Fantastic lunch here. I had ana amzing salad with beautifully crafted greens and butter beans as well as homemade hummus and the best Mediterranean roasted vegetables in Devon. The dressing was amazing and I believe they sell this to customers to take home. A fantastic spot and reasonably priced. Pleasant staff, it’s one to try!

We arrived at 13:45 on a Saturday yet all three quiche options, and the baguettes were sold out which was a shame. We ordered two sandwiches and a black coffee which took half an hour to arrive despite there being three staff members and only two other tables occupied. I'm not sure why they took so long. Both sandwiches were quite bland and not worth the money we paid. I think what was most off-putting was that we could see the kitchen staff was touching our sandwich ingredients and then her hair, and our sandwiches arrived with fingermarks in, presumably to squash them down before serving. Disappointed we'd paid upfront.

Went in for lunch. I chose the vegetarian quiche (walnuts, stilton and leeks) which came with a salad of choice so I had the coleslaw. The salad turned out to be the best bit (delicious) as the quiche was overloaded with walnuts and little stilton and leeks so a bit tasteless. The pasty was soggy too. My husband had a baguette and that was really disappointing. Just by using decent bread from the bakery would have altered that - it was a part baked baguette and not a decent portion so I ended up giving him some of my quiche. He didn't rate the quiche either! Staff were friendly and it was busy so it had some atmosphere.

Called in today for lunch and whilst the food was nice when we eventually received it, it took way too long to be served. We were not the only people in there to be unhappy with the slow service. Shame, as saw no reason for the meals to take so long to serve.

Always like to visit this great cafe when in Totnes. Came across it a few years ago and been back many times. On first glance, it appears to cater to specialist tastes. However, when you see the menu there are choices for all. Some plant based, but not all I am particularly happy with the Gluten Free options which includes sandwiches, quiches and all the cakes. Food itself is well presented, good value and full of flavour

First time trying this place and I can’t say I’ll rush back. On entering the cafe it was a very awkward environment, mainly from the welcome we received. I walked in and greeted the woman behind the counter, who I can only assume is the owner, and was ignored and just stared at like I’d just kicked a puppy. It was incredibly uncomfortable and unwelcoming, we were just stood there looking around before being asked “take away or dine in” we said dine in and were told to take a clipboard off the wall and sit down. As soon as we sat down we felt very uncomfortable but we felt too awkward to get up and leave. I work in hospitality so I know when you’re short staffed it’s hard, but to be rude to customers is inexcusable. Again, on leaving and after paying I said “thank you and goodbye” to the same woman and again, was ignored. On the upside the food was very nice, I had an egg and avocado baguette and it was delicious and lovely presented. The cafe overall is a nice little one, I just think the customer service is largely lacking and that is what people will remember when leaving an establishment.

Before the lockdown's I have previously visited The Wild Fig and enjoyed their food, but just recently I used them twice for takeway food. On the first occasion it was for a lunch with my friend. I did not want to prepare it myself as my friend does not eat meat or anything containing dairy. The second was some cake for a coffee morning that I was hosting. On both occasions I phoned to order about 48 hours in advance and the staff were very helpful in aiding me with the selection of food and were cheerful and friendly when I collected the orders. The lunch included a vegan dairy free quiche, which really impressed my friend as it had been a long while since she had tasted one, coleslaw, crab sandwiches, smoked salmon sandwiches and to follow we had some delicious Tunisian cake. For the coffee morning I took large portions of the Tunisian cake as I liked so much and a scrumptious apple and cinnamon cake to divide up between the 10 or so people at the coffee morning.

Although wearing masks which the local lady wasn’t, we were asked to wait outside. No problem except the local was still inside gassing away! I don't eat out very often, as I tend to find it a fairly stressful experience due to dietary restrictions, but I was very happy to come across this lovely, independent cafe during a visit to Totnes. The people working there were very friendly and helpful, and there was a great variety of gluten-free and vegan food available. I had a very generous piece of chocolate and courgette cake, which I was slightly sceptical about, but it was amazing -- whereas chocolate cake is often a bit dry, this was very moist and smooth, and the icing was delicious! My parents went for savoury options, and said they were very tasty as well. Thank you for a lovely treat!

On a brief visit to Totnes, I happened upon the Wild Fig. The lovely owner looked after my shopping while I visited the loos in Market Square (Covid has caused another problem for him because his toilets are 'out the back' and customer use would require a thorough sanitisation of areas passed through on each visit - clearly impossible to sustain) and on my return I chose a soup and 3 salads, all of which were very fresh and full of heavenly authentic flavours. I have to say that my only regret was over-ordering on salads, so that there was no room left for the amazing array of gluten free cakes on offer! My coffee was also lovely. All in all, I felt that, if I were a local, the Wild Fig would be my go-to eatery of choice. A great experience.

I came across the Wild Fig Deli when I was looking for a local picnic service able to deliver to my mum near Totnes. We were supposed to do our annual trip to Wimbledon and had centre court tickets, but for obvious reasons it just wasn't happening this year! My mum would normally come and stay with me in Surrey for a couple of weeks during the Wimbledon event and we'd spend that time out and about everywhere. Sadly no Wimbledon and no visit so far this year, so I wanted to surprise her with a sumptious picnic on the day we were supposed to be on centre court. Janey was so accommodating, offering a 'standard' picnic with any tailoring to my requirements. I ended up choosing a mix of picnic, quiche, canapes and afternoon tea with fresh strawberries. Nothing was too much trouble! On the day of delivery I called at short notice to delay delivery due to a cat 'emergency'. Janey's husband was so kind. My mum was so delighted and thoroughly enjoyed every last morsel of her picnic. I also sent her some bubbles and in the end she had front row seats on 'centre court' watching a classic oldie on bbc2.I'd definitely recommend the Wild Fig for any picnic and I'm sure the eat in experience is just as lovely. We will definitely visit when times allow us to travel down to Totnes. Try them out, local independent businesses need your custom!

Having recently been diagnosed with coeliac disease, I was nervous to try dining out, especially at independent places which are typically without the assurance of Coeliac UK accreditation. I was quickly put at ease, however, when I arrived in Totnes and the Wild Fig staff were able to explain clearly how they prep their food. They do handle gluten in their kitchen, but keep everything separate. I had the baked goat's cheese salad with fig chutney and walnuts, and it blew me away. We popped in here last week for some lunch, based on the glowing reviews. It's a tiny place, but we nabbed the last table, and the staff were friendly and attentive. Unfortunately we didn't overly enjoy our meals. I said afterward to my husband, mine reminded me of vegan food 15 years ago when you were lucky if there was one option, and you didn't complain about what you got because you were happy to eat anything at all. I had the GF vegan quiche (flavour was there, but texture certainly wasn't, pastry was dry, base was hard as a rock, and filling wasn't well executed) with a side of spicy beans. Husband had a crab baguette sandwich which was bland and overly buttered (and for him to not finish I knew it had to be bad). Maybe they were having an off day? But based on our experience, we wouldn't return sadly.

We come here all the time for breakfast, they have the best vegan options in Totnes, the spicy, garlic butter beans are particularly good! If you are meat eating / vegetarian there are also plenty of options, the service is really friendly and they never fail to deliver. I definitely recommend coming here for breakfast / brunch!

We were back in Totnes last weekend for the Sea Change Festival and returned to The Wild Fig for breakfast. Once again the food and service did not disappoint. It's a lovely cafe with delicious high quality food and generous portions. Also, the coffee they serve is really good and the owners are very welcoming. We will definitely be returning- thank you !

Greeted by a warm smile and quickly brought menus. Delicious coffee and a brunch of eggs Florentine (minus the Hollandaise sauce as not keen on it personally). The meal was beautifully presented, hot and tasty. Definitely return.

Called in for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. I had a toasted chorizo and manchego sandwich on seeded bread. It came with a small salad which had an incredibly nice dressing. I also had a latte, so good, I had to have another. Relaxing music in the background along with very confident but relaxed staff and a great menu, make this place a must for another visit. Well done Wild Fig.

We called for breakfast after reading that they offered gluten free options. The salmon and scrambled eggs was shown as having a gluten free option but after checking, it was apparent that this was not the case as they had no separate gluten free toaster. This is fine if you’re gluten free by choice but not Coeliac safe. The food was fine when it arrived but nothing out of the ordinary.

The Wild Fig is small and friendly. We stopped for coffee and cake on our way home from a lovely day in the town. I had cherry and chocolate cake, and my friend had a brownie - both delicious. The de-caf coffee was full of flavour, and my friend rated the tea good too.

We visited this little gem of a cafe whilst holidaying in Devon over half term. All dietary needs and preferences are well catered for. I had eggs florentine with gluten free toast which was lovely, my partner had the delicious creamy smoked haddock chowder, and my daughter had a kids ham sandwich, so we were all happy. Good choice of drinks, and people came in for takeaway coffees so I am guessing they are good too. The atmosphere was friendly and we chatted with the owner. We asked about their delicious looking cakes (all gluten free, some dairy free and some sugar free as well!) and chatted to one of the staff who had created an impressive looking fruit cake in layers of different colours. I was spoilt for choice but settled on a salted caramel cake which was amazing. A lovely visit and we’ll certainly be back. Great for anyone with special diets but everyone would enjoy!

The highlight of our visit to Totnes was the food at the Wild Fig cafe. The smoked haddock and spinach chowder was filled with gorgeous fresh veg and flavours. Absolutely delicious! We hope to return soon though this time with elasticated trousers so we can also gorge on the cakes!!

My friend treated me to my first Wild Fig brekkie for my birthday and it was a delight! Friendly & dedicated staff, great coffee, and perfectly cooked eggs florentine. I remember wanting to order all the dishes! I used to live in Totnes and still visit regularly and I'd say Wild Fig has the most interesting, delicious and best-value menu of anywhere in town. I can't imagine visiting Totnes now without popping in, especially having tried the sublime vegan & GF raw chocolate cake. I was in two minds about mentioning this as I'm on my way to Wild Fig now and don't want it to sell out! It's definitely too good to share ;) Thank you team Wild Fig!

Back in Totnes for another holiday & always look forward to our visit to The Wild Fig cafe. We received a great welcome from the owners & staff & enjoyed our several visits for coffee & cake during our week here in November. Woolfy, Janey & Jess do a great job with their team & the food is always fresh tasting & full of variety. My wife has a gluten & dairy free diet but it is never a problem here. They do great salads, soups, hot & cold other food options all homemade & their cake options are wonderful. We had a delicious chocolate & cherry cake, carrot cake, raspberry cake & raw chocolate cheesecake, but there were others! Chocolate & orange, sponge cake, almond cake - what a choice! All very tempting, & all for gluten & dairy free diet. Looking forward to next visit to Totnes!

What a lovely place to spend an afternoon! We were fortunate to be able to sit outside on a lovely sunny day for lunch. The BBQ worked really well and you could easily spend the time ordering nibbles from the menu and drinking copious amounts of Rose

Had a lovely lunch here this week. We found Bayards Cove Inn completely by chance. The staff were so friendly & attentive. The food and service were exceptional and the whole atmosphere made our visit to Dartmouth one to remember. A dog friendly place too so every box ticked for us. An excellent find. Highly recommend to all.

The new location of the Hairy Barista is my go to place in town for everything good….. There is nothing these guys can do wrong in my eyes…. They serve great coffee, chai ( a definite favourite of mine)amongst many other interesting things inc Kombucha and Kefir drinks… I love their food offerings wether it be a simple filled croissant to their always hearty soups or specials. I will continue to support them as often as I can afford. They do things with the most amount of integrity and genuine passion and that means a lot in my world. You only have to look at how busy they are day to day to know they have hit a sweet spot 🙏🙏

Dropped in for a quick lunch. Expensive for what it is. For example a small piece of frittata and a very small salad for nine ounces odd. Went home and had toast to supplement. Disappointing as had heard good things.
