Very disappointed with my experience of trying to book a special Birthday meal, to be told my wife can only have a nut roast on a Sunday because she is a Pescatarian and to be told very rudely they will cancel my booking if I'm not happy.

Widemouth Manor restaurant is a lovely restaurant with great views. It’s got real character. We visited on Sunday for the carvery. This is clearly very popular. Food prices are reasonable and the meat is of excellent quality. Good portion. Quality of vegetables was good and good selection. If the opportunity arises we will visit again.

Visited here for dinner. Great views. When booking, ask was a sea view. You won't regret it. Prompt service. Great selection of drinks. Great selection of food. Food arrived hot and was very tasty. The fish and chips were lovely. Only recommendation is maybe doing triple fried chips or seasoned chips such as paprika or cajun chips just to elevate it that bit more. Saw others people's food, such as burgers, rack of ribs and chicken. All looked lovely and all plates were left empty. Outside area looked awesome for hot, dry days. Would definitely recommend

Just had a lovely carvery, that was very tasty and both chefs were great with the boys and adults, but was then rushed away. We pre-booked 6pm and had our carvey's almost straight away, we were offered drinks and deserts, the drinks were quick but the deserts (2 kids ice-cream's and a sorbet) took approximately 20 minutes to arrive. My grandson was still eating his ice-cream when a member of staff came over at 7.15 and asked us to move. She said that she had reserved a sofa and chairs for us in the bar area. We asked for the bill and reluctantly moved to the reserved area which was enough seats for 4 of our party of 6. We paid the bill and left. We have enjoyed many lovely meals before during bank holidays and other busy times, without being rushed away. I think it was silly to book a 6pm then 7.15 bookings and greedy in my opinion.

Firstly, the food was lovely. Decent portion sizes, tasty, plenty of options & reasonable price. Location was near where we were staying. Large place so plenty of seats etc. Would of rated it probably 4* if we had not had the interaction from staff member we did. I can only assume she was a senior as she seemed to be dealing with the bookings, bar etc. On arrival she was rude, abrupt & quite frankly didn’t seem to care, definitely not the warm welcome you’d expect. We were there to eat and drink, reasonably large table, around 6 adults. Would 100% of stayed for longer drinking & eating more had we not had the welcome we did, it didn’t make us want to stay for another drink that’s for sure. Would I go back? Yeah I would, I believe in second chances so I’d definitely give it another try and the food was lovely! Maybe she was having an off day, but it definitely ruined our visit unfortunately.

We visited as a family of 4, 2 adults and 2 teenagers. We ate in the restaurant area and were seated at a lovely a lovley table right in tje window enjoying views across the bay. We were spolit for choice with the menu options and on top of that there was a specials board. The food took a while to arrive but they were very busy and the staff kept checking on us for drinks etc. It was well worth the wait, the food was beautiful and the portions huge. We had the specials pasta, the hunters chicken burger and the fish and chips. Not even the teenagers could find fault. Very reasonably priced, £90 for 4 mains and two rounds of drinks. The views are just stunning here, well worth a visit even if just for a drink. Extra bonus points for accepting cash too and we loved the fact that dogs were not allowed in the restaurant. We love our four legged friend but there is a time and a place and dogs should not be in reatuarnts.

Visited for Sunday lunch (Carvery) service was friendly and polite. Food was of a good standard, you don’t get any more meat even though I ordered a large compared to a regular. Staff incompetent and rude. We were told we could order food to sit on the lawn. Ordered food at the bar, double checked to see if we could order to the lawn, was told this was fine. We were then told to move or we wouldn’t be served, despite asking TWICE if it was ok to be served on the lawn. Also asked for a dog bowl, was told the bowls were for inside dogs only. Just couldn’t win. Eventually a helpful young lady gave us a dog bowl. Fox was pretty average, chips were cheap chips, the hunters chicken burger was absolutely dripping with BBQ sauce, it couldn’t be eaten as a burger, had to use a knife and fork. Won’t be visiting again due to how difficult the staff were!

I went here for the Sunday roast. The waiting staff were great. Carvery chef not so much, I asked for my small carvery on a larger plate and twice he refused! I shouldn’t need to explain why I wanted a larger plate and it wasn’t as if I was asking for more meat just a larger plate, which I didn’t get. I sent an email to complain and never received an answer, how rude and sad that they didn’t reply to explain why I couldn’t have a larger plate which made no difference to the amount of meat I would receive. I won’t be returning!

We had the carvery and although we were quite late everything was lovely, hot and well cooked, especially the beef!! We also had the garlic mushrooms and humous/olive board as starters and were both beautifully presented and tasty! Finally the warm brownies and clotted cream!!!! The staff were welcoming and attentive and made a real fuss of our dog Pebbles, even bringing her some leftover turkey!! She loved it! Will be back next time we visit Widemouth! Find it very difficult to eat out in establishments. I am Vegan. My family ordered the Sunday carvery & I ordered the NUT ROAST A ~ One slither of no more than 0.5 cm x 10cm was handed to me on the plate from the kitchen, ( it looked more like a piece of haslet) , not roasted whatsoever & on taste all I could feel as I chewed was Rice, NO taste of Nuts, Beans, Pulses, Veg or seasoning like a NUT ROAST always tastes of. A cheap alternative to entice Vegans & Vegetarians in. I paid £4.50 for this slither as I was just going to order the carvery veggies at £8 Veggies were cooked too well & taste was unnoticeable. Hire a V chef in who knows about tasty V food. Appalling to say the least !

We booked a table for an evening meal at this hill top restaurant overlooking Widemouth Bay - it was a glorious sunset and an ideal location for a good meal. However whilst the sunset was amazing- the food and service in the restaurant was appalling. We decided to have starters - garlic mushrooms and two calamari- the food arrived promptly but the calamari were like bullets - deep fried to death. Not very edible or tasteful. We mentioned this the the server who cleared the plates however the response was very indifferent. We then sat at our table nursing a bottle of wine for ages with no sign of our main course. We then noticed other guests arriving being served and leaving having had their meals whilst we sat at an empty table. At no time did any servers come to check on us. We arrived at 7:30 by 8:50 we had still not received our food. We spoke again to a server about our food but they did not bother coming back to let us know what was happening. We then decided to leave and complain to the manager - the original server then said - well as you had a starter your order was put at the back of the queue’ .. The manager was also as indifferent about this, offering no apology just saying thank you for your feedback and trying to justify the situation. We would have had more respect for them had they just admitted that the kitchen had messed up. Whilst we were ok with paying for the wine we had drunk they insisted we pay for the awful over cooked starters as well. Not a very good experience- poor food poor service

We rang to book a last minute table after visiting with some friends who were also holidaying in Cornwall. The restaurant accommodated us willingly and we arrived yo a lovely table with a view of the sea. Drinks were available quickly and we were advised to.choose.our meals and order at the bar . We had 4 adults and 5 children eating. The starters were lovely and came out promptly. Unfortunately we were disappointed by some of the main meals today. Whilst the curry was lovely. The 'specials board' fish dish was a more expensive one on the menu .It was brought out and wasn't as described. The 'potato cake' was 3 boiled new potatoes and there wasn't a sauce (perhaps a little butter) When we asked about this 3 staff asked how things were and said that they would.go and investigate in the kitchen but no one came back to explain what had happened. Our children ordered the kids pasta which is usually a safe bet in a restaurant. None of them could eat it as it was so overcooked it was watery (described by a 4 and 8 year old). Again we were asked.at.clearing up time how everything was as it was clear there was alot of pasta left and this was met with a shrug. Whilst the atmosphere and the view were both lovely it did feel quite alot of money to have spent on expensive specials dishes and equally as expensive kids meals that really were disappointing (kids unable to eat).

The food was lovely, quick service and reasonably priced, beautiful views and friendly staff. The price of the drinks was ridiculous unfortunately. The larger was around average price but £8 for a single glass of wine is a total joke, especially since I bought a...

We ate in the restaurant when we were staying in the hotel. It was really busy even for a Monday night. You definitely need to book. The menu isn’t massive but they do offer some gluten free choices. My partner and I shared a mix...

Booked this for Sunday lunch after driving past and admiring the setting. Appreciated it would be busy but when we arrived we struggled to park. Finally found a space but then waited ages to be seated. We were so disappointed. Nothing more than a canteen...

Set at the top of Widemouth bay the place has spectacular views over the bay and out to the Atlantic Ocean. Good layout inside the restaurant/bar which is reassuring. We had to book up before hand as it was a busy period for them. We...

Popped in on a rainy day for a meal, staff were very polite and friendly. The food was lovely and portions were of a good size. Views from inside would have been amazing.

Our friends booked a table four weeks ago, explained that it was special and we would like the inner room as it is usually quieter, as I have hearing aids. The person agreed that would be fine. On arrival we were told we could not...

We confirmed our reservation in the morning and we arrived 10 minutes before our table was ready, however it took them that long to find our reservation. Service was all over the place, we had to keep asking for drinks and to take our food...

We ordered the ‘special’ oven baked plaice which was so over cooked it had turned to sludge…… the chips had been cooked in dirty oil and tasted like burned fag ash and were covered in black specks. The hunters chicken had died a long time...

Wednesday lunch in the sun at the Watering Hole. Had steak loaded fries with garlic sauce and crispy onion bits. Portion was huge we could have shared one to be honest. Never had a bad meal in the multiple times we've had breakfast, lunch or dinner here, top notch venue 👍

Had a hummus in pitta salad, and chips, at The Helston Grill last night, and my goodness, it was the best thing I've eaten in ages. Perfectly balanced, plentiful. The hummus was delicious, the pickled white cabbage the best I've ever eaten. Chips were hot, and really tasty. Thank you for a wonderful meal

Disappointing stay We stayed in Room Eight & we booked a double room. The room was basement level and was tiny with low ceilings, smelled heavily of chemicals and later mold. We had to keep the windows open but unfortunately the one small window opened out onto a busy road. The road was meters away from the window and the cars go fast, so it was really noisy day and time The bath was narrow and not full length and weirdly sticky. Really disappointed with our stay as we'd read such lovely reviews and the pictures (which are of different rooms to ours) looked so nice .

Fabulous fish - I had crab, scallops and sardines. Perfect for one! With some bread, of course. Started with a Cornish Pastis - that's right, aperitif, not meat and turnips in pastry. Very friendly service and a gorgeous view over the harbour as dusk fell. Cannot recommend strongly enough!!
