Wonderful Sunday lunch today, really good food and fantastic service. Well done Maya Molly and Sam and kudos to chefs Toto, Anca, Alex, Andi and Marian. Highly recommend!

Our table was booked for 4 o’clock …. On arrival (we were 10 mins late) the table wasn’t ready!! We ordered drinks at the bar whilst waiting … the bar maid got distracted whilst pulling a Guineas and left it half poured … another barmaid had to finish serving us!! We were shown to our table … we sat for 25 minutes waiting fo someone to take our food order!! No one came! We had to get up to attract the waitress attention!! We ordered Sunday Roast which arrived not that hot , I asked for extra gravy which came out cold!!! During our meal we had to again attract the attention of staff by going to the bar to request drinks as no service was being given!! Overall the restaurant only had one other couple eating in the restaurant! ..there was plenty of staff, unfortunately they were too busy chatting amongst themselves and looking at their phones!! Totally disappointed with the whole experience!definitely won’t be returning!!!

We were served by Rhiannon and Molly and they were very patient and courteous. We took our time to order and they didnt rush us. Food was delicious. Thank you

The food and drinks were lovely. The pub had a good atmosphere and the price was reasonable too. Service could have been a tiny bit quicker, but the pub was very busy to be fair. Overall a brilliant occasion!

This was a dinner before a concert event. Food was lovely, hot and served quickly. It wasn't very busy but that didn't detract from the atmosphere.

The lamb with Harissa was absolutely delicious. Our waiter was incredible and ensured that my guest had a gluten free and dairy free risotto and the lamb mentioned above. It blew my guest away when the waitress showed that the kitchen was prepared for his visit. Thank you for a very special evening.

V friendly place. Service was a little slow at times but the venue was v busy so not a major issue. Otherwise a very enjoyable experience.

All way from Australia vistung family. And was great food was a close 1st with aussie food my burger was then best i had and i have travelled and eaten lost burgers around counrty and all over Australia absolutely fantastic

This is the 3rd year running that my friend and I have been here for lunch on Boxing Day. We had 3 courses and couldn't fault the food or service. Both were impeccable. Very good value.

Pub was empty on Boxing Day and we were told we weren’t able to stand at the bar and have a drink as there wouldn’t be enough room

We had a wonderful Christmas Day lunch at The Wicked Lady. It was a fixed menu but there was a huge choice of meals. The food was absolutely delicious and portion size plentyful. Great starters, huge bowls of lovely vegetables to accompany the traditional roast turkey, beef wellington and roast lamb we chose. We ended the meal with Christmas pudding and cheese and biscuits. The staff were fabulous. I would highly recommend The Wicked Lady.

The surroundings were lovely. Very well styled. The staff were helpful and friendly. So was a little under excited with the food. The starter was scallops, with a piece of extremely salted cooked bacon over the top. Which was so dried out it shattered under the fork. Followed by very Crispy Sea Bass sitting on cream sauce and lots of new potatoes. Served in a desert bowl. I thought now a nice pudding. No it was a tiny bowl and a Tiny Christmas pudding. Hardly any custard. But it was extremely rich and sweet. I couldn't eat it all. It was one of those mass produced pre made options. I would not go out of my way, to eat there again. But I liked the fact the it was warm and not noisy. As it was a Christmas meal, which was pricey. There was not even water on the table and not even a free mint or coffee.

It's ok here. Nice gastro pub environment, pleasant atmosphere - if a little stale. Not really a pub anymore. Had beef croquette, sharing fondue, and pork belly with scallops. Fondue wasn't hot or very exciting, and scallops were overcooked, but the croquettes were very nice and the rest of the pork dish was great. I probably wouldn't go again out of choice, but it's perfectly fine here

This was a great night out with friends. The staff were friendly, helpful and the food was very good. Its a pity the fire was not lit as this would have added to the atmosphere but the place was sparkling clean as ever. With thanks to staff members Kam, Ryan Alex and Anca.

Haven't been to this place in years. Met a friend for dinner this evening. Super quiet, only 2 tables busy, however it is Monday. The food was really good. Would definitely return. Staff really friendly.

We had the most wonderful time at The Wicked Lady near St Albans today. We chose this establishment because of the great reviews online and the fact that it was the perfect half way point between Guildford and Northampton to meet up with family who we hadn’t seen in many years. We received a warm welcome upon entering and were shown to our table to wait for our family to arrive. We were given menus and asked if we’d like drinks while we were waiting. These arrived promptly and shortly afterwards our family arrived. The waitress service was fantastic and we didn’t feel pressurised to choose quickly. The menus had such a good selection for vegetarians, vegans and meat eaters so something for everyone. They had 2 menus, the main menu and a festive 3 course menu to look at where you could either have 2 or 3 courses for a set price. Our party chose 2 of the vegetarian wellingtons, 1 roast turkey from the festive menu and 1 sea bass from the main menu. They were presented beautifully and looked Michelin stared to be honest. Alongside the dinners were side dishes of roasted vegetables which were also delicious. These were generous portions all round. We couldn’t finish the dinners as we were full up and we wanted to leave room for deserts! We chose 2 of the chocolate brownies, 1 mince pie and 1 double chocolate ice cream with chocolate cookie. These were not disappointing at all and we would highly recommend each one of them. Our servers were Eddie, Ryan and Luke and our Chefs were Alexanca, Marian and Toto (I hope I’ve spelt their names correctly as I’m reading from the review card).

Nice pub. Food menu is quite up market, if you like that type of food. However, it does limit guests if you are looking for a more classic style menu.

Nicky is an amazing waitress, my family were really impressed with her professionalism and customer service overall the service was excellent and had a lovely time at this restaurant. We will definitely be returning especially because of Nicky.

Unreal roast, trio roast and trio dessert were amazing, everything cooked to perfection. Nicky was super smiley and a great server to our big group booking.

Was ignored for a few minutes on arrival, even though there was about 7 staff in front of me. Our main waitress was delightful (Nicky). Food came out like warm except the cauliflower cheese, which we had to ask for, even though it was included with our dish (sharing plate for Sunday lunch). The apple ketchup didn’t arrive at all. The presentation even of the main meal wasn’t great, but the lemon tart I had for dessert was embarrassing.

Best place to come for a delicious roast. Amazing service from Maya looked after us well as a big table, ensured everything went smoothly. Molly on the bar arrived quickly with our drinks and ensured we had everything we needed. The roast was great and the meat was cooked perfectly we all thoroughly enjoyed our food. The service from all the staff was a lovely thing to see as they all were all extremely polite and always had a smile on their face. Many thanks.

My husband, son and I visited for lunch on Sunday. Two of us had the chicken, one the beef, all were delicious and great sized portions (my teenage son finished mine off!) Beautifully presented. Our waitress Nicky was so friendly, immediately putting us at ease. Really helpful and knowledgeable about the menu, nothing was too much trouble- what an asset she is! We'll be visiting again!

The Sunday lunch food was very good as was the vegetarian option but the stand out experience was the customer service., Greeted by Chloe and made to feel not just welcome but valued. Overall a really excellent experience.

We popped in for lunch after the recent storms. Service was genuinely friendly. Jack and Chloe went above and beyond when there was a power cut to ensure we were all ok. Will definately return in the near future!

Really nice, dog friendly pub. The food was stunning! I had the crispy duck noodle salad, and my boyfriend had the seafood linguine. Both dishes were so fresh and delicious. Sat outside in the sun, but inside looks so pretty, I will have to come back!

I was in for dinner tonight, and asked a question to the waitress about if the steak pie was puff pastry or shortcrust, which I dislike. She went back to the kitchen to "speak to the chef" and came back an assured me it was made with puff pastry, so I ordered it. After waiting for the food, it arrived and it was a thin shortcrust pastry, exactly the kind I dislike. The waiter was disinterested, non apologetic and asked if I wanted anything else, but given I was starving I didn't want to wait. My lovely husband ended up sharing his meal with me and he ate mine. Bill time came, no apology and no money off. Basically paid for a meal I expressly didn't want. Wouldn't recommend.

A group of 20 of us went for lunch, sitting outside in the lovely garden. Service from booking onwards was excellent and food was delicious. There's a lovely walk just over the road, perfect for energetic kids and dogs!

We had the Sunday roast which was lovely. I had the beef sirloin and my partner had the mixed roast and it was the best pub roast I have had in a long while. We will be back!

I had a buttermilk chicken burger. The burger was so sweet for me. However the chicken was nice and crispy.

Think I’ve just had the best pie I’ve ever had, Chicken leek and cheddar, Stunning, All 3 courses from the starter to the dessert was awesome and the staff are lovely, I will try the Sunday roast at some point.

The fillet steak sandwich is tasty and the fries freshly made. Did not try the dessert as I had enough but the menu is pretty good. We were a table of 14 and the staff were very friendly and quick to serve. Highly recommend + nice location with plenty of space and parking.

This was first Visit to this lovely local Gastro Pub. The food and service were extremely good along with the Sunday Roast. I had the sirloin and slow roast brisket all perfectly cooked and presented. I will certainly want to eat here again. Highly recommended

We’re locals and used to come here a lot but we stopped because of the slow service. I thought I’d give this another go for my birthday but not much had changed. Not the best service - had to ask for a jug of water four times and a bit rude getting seated - but we did complain and was given one of our meals free, although it felt rather reluctant. We won’t be rushing back.

On the main road but country pub feel, Plenty of beer garden space some covered. Food snacks very unusual in a good way! Very Tasty decent portions tapas styles : cheese donuts, beef ribs shorts, hummus, fried dauphinois “chips” yummee! Highly recommend and would go again .

Great meal, only improvement suggestion was that the kids meals were a little too “grown-up” for our children. The sausage and mash had spring onion in the mash and the gravy was quite strongly flavoured. Very nice to the adult palette, less so for a child’s. No complaints though, very nice meal and service. The food is always very good & the service is normally excellent but we felt very hurried after our main meal & the bill was brought to us without us asking for it - our waitress was very rushed & banged our plates & drinks on the table a couple of times

Very nice pub with a decent beer garden, some tables semi covered in ( in case). Very interesting snack menu doesn’t say it but they come out tapas style with two or three of the items ( cheese doughnuts 3 -crispy dauphinois 2 -beef ribs 2 ) all about £5 a serve and quite delicious had some hummus with bread between 3 and probably should have ordered two more! Staff very nice polite helpful and friendly. I recommend and will go again.

Pub was surprisingly busy for a Wednesday lunch but the two staff Matthew and Chloe had it all under control and were very polite and professional. Service was prompt and the food was delicious. I had the steak sandwich and my husband had a burger - both nicely cooked so thanks also to the chefs.

Quintessential roast 😍 The roast beef duo was delectable and our host Silvia was delightful. If you want a great Sunday roast, this is the place.

Excellent lunch at The Wicked Lady. The trio of roasts was superb and all of my step-mother’s intolerances were taken seriously and dealt with diligently by front and back of house. A special mention to Sylvia who made it truly special.

I went here with my family and it was fantastic! Service was great and my server, Carole was lovely. She served the food in good time and overall me and my children had a lovely experience. I definitely recommend the Wicked Lady as a nice restaurant to go out to with family or friends, and I was delighted to be served with such kindness yesterday.
