Nando's - St Albans in St Albans

Last night I had dinner here and left my ring at the table ,just wanted to write this review to say a thankyou to the manager/supervisor who rang me to let me know they found it , brilliant customer service thank-you so much :)

Ali was a very kind and cheerful person while me and my friends were at the restaurant. Very helpful and welcoming. food was Delicious also

The place it self is not well decorated, probably its and older restaurant, but never less!their food is great and service was exceptionally good!

Went with my 12-year-old grandson who is a big Nando’s fan. We ordered a boneless platter to share, It was extremely tasty the only downside, it was cold. Staff were friendly and helpful.

This spot is awful for delivery! Twice we have ordered from there and both times we have missed half our order. When we ring, they don’t do anything except request for a refund.

We ordered online and all chicken on bone was out of stock, this is what we came to eat at nandos. Staff didn't inform us of all chicken being out of stock at the front reception. We are with young children who were hungry and were seated upstairs, so we decided to stay and order chicken burgers and kids meal rather than the chicken on bone which was out of stock. Afterwards two two tables adjacent to us came after us and we saw that they both received chicken on bone platters. We received our burgers that we didn't really want . We spoke to a manager without name tag who said that they have low stock so chicken is available on tills but not online. I told her that we weren't informed downstairs or by the server upstairs and we have food that we don't like while 2 tables after us got chicken on bone. She did not offer anything to us and just said that this is how it is and that she will speak to reception staff! This is discrimination against families who are ordering online to save time so we can look after kids on the table.

Simply one of the best Nando's I've been to. The service, the temperature of the food, the politeness of the staff, all 10/10. Will definitely be coming back.

Ordered from Deliveroo,even though I live a minute away the food was cold upon delivery. I am very disappointed..

We've been waiting more than half an hour to get the food ....and when we've received it, we received a cold food .They had the food prepared on the plates but nobody brought it at the table 👎

Always orders are ready but they all not bother it and given to the riders , riders always stand on the window for half and hours and many time more they stood front of the widow but not given order and respond

Maison was very rude, ruined my friends birthday meal by not trying to seat us. Then kept coming up to us and starting at us whilst we were eating

The staff is simply horrible, the service is very bad, I wonder if they had any kind of training?

The guy on seating duty was a real control freak. Very arrogant with an I m in charge attitude which totally put me off eating.

The worst half chicken I have ever eaten. But then again I am not surprised as the chicken appeared to be already cooked and when the orders come through they just put it again on the fire. Frankly, the chicken was tasteless and extremely dry. I have eaten Nando’s in Greater London and have been a happy customer as the food was juicy and seasoned but this meal was a miss. Wasted money!

Great food, service was amazing

I have had two bad experiences with Nandos recently and was loathe to try them but my partner encouraged me to check the menu availability of my favourite items before entering. I asked the waitress for a table for one and checked that there were no menu deficiencies and was assured that the entire menu was available. I was shown to my table and for the next twenty minutes was completely ignored by the staff who focused on clearing tables for new customers. At the end of this period I got up and walked out through the door and not one member of staff noticed me leaving. There was one thing missing from the menu today - customer service. I will not be going back for a third time

Nando's chicken always a 10/10 for me. Sides maybe 4/5 because the creamy mash is quite dry but everything else on point

Really, really poor meal at Nando’s St Albans. Mains were cold after sitting on the hot plate for 20 minutes, no reason given to why it was so late. The livers were awful: slimy and rank. No corn even though other tables were sat after us and got their food BEFORE us. Service was poor too, the waitress meant well but asking if the food was okay surely knowing it had been sat up there for so long was a bit much. The host that sat us was also rather rude in his tone, I thought, although I’m not sure if it was intentional. I did not like the way he was rushing us out towards 10PM, given that we had only had our late food for about 10 minutes at that point. To top it all off, there were two drunk(?) guys milling around in there who were just standing around with beer and being obnoxiously loud. They weren’t sitting at a table or eating a meal. Is this a restaurant or a pub? Not a good experience at all, guys; very disappointing.

Poor service from waiting staff. We arrived and asked for a table for two, were told to wait and sit down on the waiting chairs. Another two people came in and were seated immediately. The dumb waiter was oblivious that we were waiting. Luckily these staff are not in charge of more difficult tasks, it would be too tough for them.

Well, it was a delivery, not a visit , but it was shocking! Ordered on the app, (stupid me, Deliveroo app should be better???? ) as I wanted to get the rewards. Now I will delete the app for good. So… I ‘ve ordered. Confirmed delivery time was 6:48pm the latest! 1, 10 mins after the window has passed, called. They said, 15-20mins. 2, after that when passed, called again, another time told, but no driver with food 3, called again, - put on hold- after that 7 mins confirmed with driver - 4, 20 mins later I’ve called, as I was waiting at the from of the property, as no delivery, they said, it’s have been delivered. - but for who, I still don’t know. At 8 pm, I’ve called again, and tried to cancel and get a refund, but customer service told me, it was already delivered. I was outside of the front door at all time, NO ONE showed up. This service experience was shockingly bad, I decided not to eat or order ever again. It was bad before, but this level of service is not acceptable. Now I have to wait 48-72 hrs until a manager contact me to get my money back! Another slap on the face.

Service was poor the young kid that waited on us didn't really care, our food was mixed some on one plate and some on another plate when it finally arrived 40 mins after order and seeing 3 other couples come and go while we wait the food then turned up cold and upon return of the food it was wrong worst experience I have had in nandos so far

I got a takeaway and it was all correct and the waiter i think his name was maihairn i can’t remember was amazing!

Although we came an hour before close with a relatively big group, the service was fast and the food tasty. Big thank you to the manager Abdullah and our server Ellie for putting up with so many of us just before closing.

Our server Abdullah is genuinely one of the only reasons we continue returning to Nando’s St Albans. Such a nice guy, and always makes sure we’re comfortable and having a good meal. Genuinely speaking, if he’s not working, I would just come back another day. Someone give him a raise and extra holiday days!

Nice food and quick service. The upstairs was a bit roudy with lots of young people. This spoilt the atmosphere.

Lovely food , we all enjoyed. Ashame, they were very under staffed. Our table hand was great and worked very hard , but couod tell she was rushed off her feet. One drink was not available, which we paid for, but the alternative was cheaper and not reimbursed. We gave a tip to our table hand as she was great.

I love how the waiters when they serve your food they don't say what it is so me and my friends have to sit there and guess who ordered what 😂😂

Nandos st albans.. shocking! Hemel Hempstead nandos was closed so we drove to St albans and paid to park. Upon arrival at nandos st albans we were told you can try again in an hour but not looking likely to get a table. They also decided to close the upstairs. Why would you do that if you are as busy you say and turning us away. We walked about a bit but it was dark and cold. So we went home. No attempt from nandos to do anything. If you don't take bookings then don't close half the restaurant when tables are needed.

Nando's is the best and the prices are very reasonable.

Good team today. Few little mistakes but the team was very attentive and fixed them immediately. We were with kids and it was convenient and friendly. The chicken livers were too salty though, but this is generally in all Nandos and not specific to the location. Thanks guys.

My partner and I visit regularly and it's always a nice experience. Staff are always friendly and helpful and food is delicious.

This place needs to figure out if it wants to be a take away or a restaurant. When there aren’t enough people to staff the restaurant, customers have to wait ages for a table then ages for food. That’s because of the endless stream of delivery orders being cooked. My 8 year old has been wanting his birthday meal tonight to be at Nando’s. He ended up being upset waiting so long and eating pretty late because of a stupid queuing system and being second priority behind the deliveroo orders. Upset on his birthday-thanks a lot Nando’s. We did eventually eat after I asked one of the staff how long our food would take (with it being half prepared under the warming plate but waiting to be completed). Really disappointed that it ruined a birthday treat for my son. It’s not cheap yet it’s chicken and chips plus done at their leisure.

Other than playing great music, I was particularly impressed by the 3 young people working at close with maturity and professionalism. A big thank you to Ellie, Ranya and Finley.

One of the staff was a really helpful, considerate waiter/welcomer type. Another was much more rude and impatient. One dish arrived completely cold but fixed personally by the helpful one. Food tastes the usual for nandos. Atmosphere rubbish as full of loud teens, but that can't be helped.

Mo is very friendly and has this welcoming smile for customers 😃 When you are feeling blue and needs some heat to cheer you up, Nandos is the place to go! 🎄❤️ 2022 Nandos always offering great customer care from the time you walk in till you leave. Members of staff checking to make sure that customers are happy with the food and service, and also have a small chat with you. Special thanks to Omar, Mo and Aaron. 🌶🌶🌶 The food is great and if you like some "fire" in your mouth then go for Extra Hot. Lovely ambiance. Toilets extra clean Child friendly restaurant Till area very organised and tidy. No clutter.

I have never experienced such a shambolic place. The restaurant was filthy and the food was stacking up and getting cold whilst staff ignored it. They really couldn't be bothered, which let to a miserable experience.

Quick service, usual Nandos food - reliable.

Mo was exceptional at resolving an issue, he made sure we got super crispy chicken wings.

Extremely poor service. Waited 50mins for our food with no explanation or apology. Everyone around us was getting their food before us. When asked for something as a gesture of goodwill/compensation we were told they can only offer free dessert which neither of my kids have. Actual Manager made no effort to even speak to us or kindly acknowledge or apologise. Tahek, deputy manager at least made some effort to explain and apologise. Also, no plates out, and considering staff were aware of our issue, would have been nice if they had brought them out to our table at least when we informed them there were no plates. Won’t be coming here again

Slow service. Food not hot. Atmosphere not great. Not the for the first time. Wouldn't recommend and wont go back

The food is so amazing 🤩. Especially with the vusa peri sauce . You should try it . And the afro house infused playlist makes me feel at home . But a little amendment should be made to the peach ice tea. Doesn’t taste like an ice tea at all 😂. Except for that it’s all amazing .

Very unimpressed. We had enjoyed a lovely Nandos in Stevenage the week before, so much so that we thought it would be the same here. Wrong! Luke-warm chips, the 'non-chicken' wrap I had seemed half cooked, again, only luke-warm and indescribable and the limp lettuce inside the wrap had seen better days! My other half's bun was dry and left it. One of the staff came over and asked if we were enjoying our meal, we said not really, no, but she just walked off! What a joke! Needless to say we wont be visiting here again and definitely do not recommend!!

Service was really nice and food was good

I love nandos so its always a high rating this branch did have an issue with their soft drinks machine and it upset me that they didn't tell me before I'd purchased two bottomless soft drinks. The drinks were flat and tasted terrible, I was told to go to their 1st floor to use the upstairs one, it was no better. But none the less it was still a great meal fast service and polite staff. I'd defo go back if I'm in the area

Yesterday I was horrified to find a long black hair in my salad the staff did bring me a fresh salad when I had nearly finished my meal. And we were given a free dessert as an apology which I could not eat because I was gluten free

It's Nandos so consistent offering across the chain. Food was great and then you try and get three glasses of bottomless coke in to make it worthwhile (and fail)

Ordered food for collection and got there at the selected time, the food then took a further half hour to arrive.

Terrible service. The staff are slow and switched off. The staff are just not interested, they defo need some customer service training as they were Just floating about. I had to ask twice to have the table wiped from previous customer.The food took ages to come and when it did it was cold, can’t be sure of the quality either as I didn’t feel so great the next day. Pretty much sure it’s the worst Nando’s experience I’ve had. Don’t bother going to this place waste your time and money. Only good thing was the decor was nice.

Went to Nando’s at St Albans yesterday afternoon. Ordered two bottomless drinks, a butterfly chicken and butterfly burger with all the sides. We were seated upstairs. Told to order our food via QR code. Tried multiple times but it would not go through (this would have been the sign to leave!). My wife used the bathroom - WHAT A COMPLETE DISGRACE !!!! As a food retailer, surely you understand hygiene is extremely important. After using the bathroom, I was worried about eating the food at the restaurant. You have an interactive type of business which means patrons are moving around your restaurant. I think you are going to find that if swabs are taken around the restaurant and sent for examination, you will be shut down. Filthy! Left side Coke Zero dispenser spurted coke all over me. The right one was working. Food arrived. Butterfly chicken was edible, the burger looked terrible and was.I have small hands, I’m not expecting a double chicken fillet to be smaller than the palm of my hand. It was very dry! At a whopping £41 for chicken and chips, you really are better off going to the local chicken shop! We finished and left. The team were very young, and perhaps a more experienced supervisor is required. Hygiene definitely needs to be investigated, and at these prices a cleaning attendant should be permanently on the premises. I knew the original founders of Nando’s when I used to live in Ealing, their first outlet, and I don’t think this is what they intended for their great establishment to become, average food with small portions at very high prices, exact opposite of when they first started. Their current owners, no doubt bankers, are laughing all the way to the bank at our expense, no more Nando’s for me. I can accept smaller portions at higher prices reluctantly, but not when the chicken quality is so bad, and it really was. Very sad

Chicken was great with extras but this Nando's outlet needs a long overdue face lift. Tacky plastic covered chairs and sticky black tables do not make a pleasant environment. Staff are polite and helpful but atmosphere welded to dreary 70s decor style.

Nando's is fantastic. Whenever I have been to this one I have never had to wait for a table and the food has always been good.

Friendly, helpful staff. Cool atmosphere, clean, bright. You scan a code at table, place order & pay from phone, then they bring food to you table. Food was ok, not bad but not stellar either. Loaded chips were good. Grilled chicken wrap was fine. Full platter sauce was good, chicken was a little dry, Cole slaw good, creamy mash was dry & clumpy w/o much flavor, peri salted chips a good choice, garlic bread good, spicy rice didn't have much flavor. Rainbow slaw and corn on cob were out of stock. One fino pitta was ordered without the caramelized onions and it came with the onions. Unfortunately the chicken on the fino pitta was a bit too charred and dry. Four boneless chicken thighs were good, needed more flavor so added some sauce from counter and it was better!

It was wonderful experience to dine with family there.

Main arrived hot, sides were served cold (also dry and chewy in the case of the garlic bread) Staff seemed new as we're struggling with finding buttons, and genuinely seemed surprised when I asked for the sides to be served hot. Unlikely to come back any time soon

Food going downhill customer service going up!!

Saff were not entirely as friendly as other restaurants. Food was long in being brought to the table. Needs improving for the long run.

Poor experience with both takeout and Deliveroo. Walked 10 mins into town to pick up dinner from Nando’s, only to get home and find out they didn't include the most important part - chicken! Called up and they were very unhelpful and asked me to walk another 20min round trip to collect said chicken - no thanks! A couple of months later we decided to give it another go, this time via Deliveroo - guess what… no chicken!! Deliveroo refunded the chicken, but I can’t for the life of me work out how it’s so difficult to pack a bag for takeaway. We won’t be going back anytime soon.

Tables were dirty, food came out so fast but was cold.

Chicken, chicken livers and the sides were very good. Spent £182.00 on the order. Need to change the rolls for the chicken burgers. They were very hard to chew. The rolls were so thick and dence and hard to chew. In the end we just ate the chicken. It was a shame as we were looking forward to the burger. Please change the rolls. Otherwise the food was good

One the best Nandos restaurants ever been , clean and not overcrowded

You know what you're getting....bit overpriced some of it ie the salads nearly 10.00 for not very much

Usually decent but can be a bit slow to meet collection orders, and 4 out of 5 times usually get something wrong with a side in a combo meal (e.g. missing or incorrect). Staff all nice to deal with but seems like they could do with more help on busy days.

What a refreshing experience, not only was the food and service excellent but the personal attention from Akshay the manager was worth 2 five stars at the least. Hang on to him, he is a 10 star !
