Staff lovely here and a range of theme nights and carveries throughout the week. The food was good on the whole although very salty. I would have liked some garlic bread to be served with the lasagne rather than chips, which was not the best combination. The main problem was the sticky tables - we visited twice as it was the only restaurant within walking distance from our accommodation and had the same problem both times. The first time I asked for the table to be cleaned, which was done in front of me, but it was still sticky. We sat at a different table the second time and had the same problem. I suspect it may be the coating on the tables rather than a hygiene problem but it is off-putting. Children's play areas are available so very family orientated but both times children were running around in the restaurant between the tables whilst we were eating which was dangerous and irritating, although this is the fault of the parents rather than the restaurant.

Stayed this weekend as part of a group, had a fab time, felt very welcomed from the time we checked in to when we left. Owner very down to earth with great sense of humour. Didn’t have the opportunity to eat from the day menu but did look through the menu and plenty of variety and very reasonable price(half the price of what we paid in Perranporth the first night) breakfast was included which consisted of fruit juice, tea, coffee, cereals and full English with toast. Catered for everything you could want, hot drinks at the bar as well as cold drinks, puddings and desserts on menu board. Clean rooms, great value. Relaxed atmosphere is a big plus for me, if anything needed updating it would be the garden area, pool needed some attention but I don’t sleep in the garden! Will be heading there again

Been here for food in 2011/2014 & now in 2017. The food is top class and extremely good value. Part of a family of 8 (2 children) everyone had different main courses and all were very well presented and excellent value for money. The pub also has plenty for children in the beer garden and pub itself, well behaved dogs permitted in the bar area too. When in the area there's no better place to eat! Thank you!

Had the pleasure of staying at the White house for a week in August 2016, what a wonderful gem. Friendly staff, wonderful room (we had the suite) clean and luxurious. Breakfast was amazing and was included in the price, felt a little let down on the two nights we decided to eat there in the evening, one night we were told there was no room and the second night we were asked to leave our table before we had finished our meal and drinks(but they were busy) lot's of choice and plenty to eat. Look forward to staying again soon :)

Poor show as this place was recommended to us. Didn't eat anything and the staff looked shocked as the plates where still full. Possibly could have timed it better but I don't think that would have helped.

We visited here as a group of 6 on a Friday evening. We were seated in the restaurant quite near the bar. First we noticed how dark it was due to the bulb in the wall by our table had gone along with others around the restaurant. We ordered and then it became apparent there were a rowdy group at the bar shouting and the odd 'f' word thrown in as they had races downing half a yard of ale. Not great when you have a 5 year old as part of your group. The staff continued to serve the rowdy one of the group despite him continuing to shout and generally act a prat. Waiters walked around and also noticed the shouting and yobness coming from the bar area but nothing was done. Disappointing as we all really enjoyed our meals. My steak was great and the waiters were nice and also efficient. If you book ask to be away from the bar area and you should enjoy yourself.

Turned up at just passed lunch time on a Thursday and found seating for our group of 9. 3 or 4 other tables of 4/5 were eating already. Had a pint of Proper Job and was also another Ale and Strong Cider on offer as well as normal tap selections. I had Rump Steak which was a lovely piece of meat with good chips and the trimmings. Wife had Mexican Chicken and kids the Pasta Carbonara (Specials Menu) and Sausage Mash. Good portions and smiles all round. No complaints from people with us either and there was nothing left for me to even decipher what they'd had. It's a pub. It has a seated restaurant. It offers above average food at below average prices as well as a warm welcome and better kids activities (outside/inside/air hockey) than any pub I've ever been to. I'm sure not everybody walks out of here happy, though I feel sometimes there are people who forget where they are and what they are paying. It's our second visit and we would happily return anytime we are hungry nearby, which in a County with so many eating out options is no feint praise.

The food was really pleasant, I enjoyed it a lot and have been back a few times now. I did think it was pretty pricey though, considering we had to sit in a noisy pub as they had closed their restaurant, and so the dining itself wasn't all too wonderful. The service was lovely, and considering it is an inn, the overall experience was wonderful. I will continue to recommend this place to others and visit on a regular occasion.

We have driven past this place many times while holidaying in Cornwall and always thought how nice it looked from the road. While in the area for October half term we decided to try it one night for a evening meal. The pub is quite traditional old English and has lots of character, upon entering we asked for a table of 4 the young lad serving was under a lot of stress and explained he was doing it all on his own and took him a few minutes to seat us he told us meals would be 1 hour as they were extremely busy (looking round it didn't seem that way) but we couldn't be bothered driving else were and it was nice to sit with a drink and chat while waiting. My partner went to order the meals we had picked from the menu, the young lad said out of stock, my partner came back to the table and we both chose again back to the young lad and for a second time out of stock In the end we asked him what do you have his answer not a lot yes we gathered that one,we both chose from what they did have left, meals we were both not that fond off but would do.what annoyed us most was people came in and ordered meals after us that we had just been told were out of stock The meals we did order were good and plentiful and came out quicker than the 1 hour quoted overall a bit of a let down and and average experience

We go to Newquay a lot and no visit would be complete without a visit to The Whitehouse Inn for one of their lovely carveries. We have just returned from our latest visit and yet again they have surpassed themselves. The staff were welcoming, friendly and very very helpful; the carvery was, as always, out of this world and we cannot fault the place. I really dont know why others have said the food is rubbish and the staff are rude as we have never had a bad experience here so please, if you are in the area, give them a try. There is lots for the kids to do too whilst you relax with a drink including go-karts, a play park, crazy golf and an arcade as well as a pool table and lots of outdoor seating. The prices of their food were excellent as well - £8.95 for an extra large carvery which was fantastic value for money as we had huge slices of the two meats (beef and lamb) as well as lots of veg and potatoes to choose from, with gravy and sauces which you can help yourself to as well - brilliant.Cant wait to see you all again next year, thank you.

We drove past the inn on holiday and decided to stop by for a meal as it looked nice. We arrived, asked for a table and was shown one straight away and given a high chair. We waited for the menu's, then decided on our food order and waited..... In the end we were told bluntly that we had to order from the food bar. It would have been simple to have explained this when we arrived and it looked like a lot of others were in the same boat. The lady taking food orders was great and efficient and the food was lovely and was quick. It would not take much to train the many waitresses, which came across that they were on work experience in their summer holidays and most were like rabbits in headlights, to communicate well with customers. The pub has a lot of tourists stopping by so a simple welcome and please order your food at the bar, would not be hard!

I went to the Whitehouse Inn with my wife for Sunday Lunch. The carvery looked nice but the meat choices were beef & turkey, neither of which my wife likes. There was an alternative of a small tartlet which didn't look very appetising. my wife wanted the carvery vegetables, but with something else instead of beef or turkey - not too much to ask for, you'd imagine. Fish Pie was on the menu, and she was allowed to have it with the carvery veg - but it was out of stock. Fair enough, anyone can run out of a menu item. This is where they really let themselves down: there were 'homemade' dishes on the menu, available with either chips, rice or 'half & half'. this would indicate that these meals are indeed prepared to order. My wife would have chosen either the garlic Chicken or the Thai Crab Cakes, however we were told that she was not allowed to have the carvery vegetables with either choice - ridiculous! If anything, this would have been less effort for the kitchen staff with no chips or rice to cook, but no, it was not allowed. Disgusted, we finished our drinks and drove the 2 miles up the road for a superb 3 course lunch at The New Inn at Goonhavern (separate review to come). If this is the inflexible way The Whitehouse Inn treat their customers it may explain why the restaurant was practically empty - we will not be going back.
