Lovely pub near the Thames in Richmond. Nice beer garden. Beer was lovely. The food looked good and smelt amazing.

Lovely quiet spot away from the hurly burly of Richmond riverfront. Great place to stoo for a drink and excellent looking food - we didn't eat, but every dish coming out from the kitchen looked amazing.

I didn’t eat - to me a pub is where I go to drink.

At least four members of staff behind the bar - they all saw us but not one came to serve us. What's more important - cleaning up after a busy lunchtime, or serving customers?

Staff are just fab! So attentive, friendly, professional.

My favourite pub in Richmond. You can sit out the back in the sun, have a Guinness and a packet of Tayto Cheese and Onion Crisps !! Which just makes me smile. Four legged friends welcome. Quintesseentally English, with a nod to some Irish icons !!

Nice little pub that's just off Richmond high street, very traditional layout with good outdoor seating also. Good selection of beers at fair prices. Nice relaxed atmosphere and the food looked great, look forward to coming back 😃

I had pork belly last night and it was just full of fat. It was slimy and there was very little meat. It Actually made me feel quite sick hence I didn’t eat that much of it.

The White Swan is an incredible establishment! My family and I were lucky enough to get a table in the back garden last Sunday. The servers were excellent, the ambiance traditional and vibrant. The food and vibez were top notch. What an incredible way to enjoy a sunny Sunday with every single Sunday roast on the menu.

WOW ..... My partner and I decided on the spur of the moment to enjoy a late afternoon riverside stroll along from Water Lane and decided to stop off at the White Swan. Shared a bottle of chilled Gavi d Gavi and decided to eat, best decision ever. My partner enjoyed her Chicken Caesar Salad but words fail me to describe the Peterhead Cod. It was beyond fabulous,light flakes, moist and perfection. The potatoes and petit poisoning were a compliment and the white wine cream sauce was the perfect accompliment. The staff were attentive and efficient and it can only be described as a memorable meal. You fish supplier, Sandy's in Twickenham deserves a compliment too.

Great local place to drink and talk.

Llegamos un poco temprano para nuestra reserva, pero eran muy acogedores y fueron capaces de sentarnos. Todos con los que tratamos parecían deseosos de asegurar que fuéramos felices, no puedo culpar al personal en absoluto. La comida que tuvimos era muy buena, y disfrutamos de todo lo que teníamos. Todos nuestros platos eran sabrosos y parecía bien preparado. Nos fuimos muy contentos con lo que habíamos comido. La comida puede no ser la más barata, pero creo que la relación calidad-precio es buena teniendo en cuenta la calidad. El pub en sí es bastante pequeño, y estábamos en la zona de tipo conservatorio. Pero no dejes que el tamaño te desanime, tiene un gran ambiente. Realmente se sentía como un buen lugar para estar y tenía una buena vibra. La guinda del pastel es ser amigable con los perros. Poder disfrutar de una noche de fiesta sin tener que dejar al perro atrás hace la vida mucho más fácil. En resumen, un lugar al que volveríamos con mucho gusto, y sin duda volveremos a visitar. Y no tengo problemas en recomendar este pub y restaurante.

This pub never disappoints me. I think it is independent and the food is really good! Nice location too, in a quiet part of Richmond, not far from the river.

I've walked past the pub numerous times but yesterday was my first time there. The pub has a welcoming and cozy ambience, with friendly and down to earth staff. We had gone there for dinner and for starters I had an Italian styled Indian paneer dish, which was awesome! A very unique creation which worked really well. For mains I had the pork belly which was cooked to perfection, and was complimented with a lovely white sauce and vegetables. I really enjoyed the meal so much that I wanted to try a dessert, but I was unfortunately too full to do so. I don't know when I'll next get a chance to go back there again, but I'm really looking forward to when I do!

Charming pub, supposedly richmond's oldest, on the grounds of the former richmond castle. There are a few remnant buildings such as the old gatehouse still there. Pub is very popular despite its hidden location.

Estaba de visita en Richmond y se topó con El Cisne Blanco y tan feliz que encontramos esta joya. El personal era tan cálido y acogedor que hicimos una reserva para volver a cenar. El asado dominical fue nuevo para nosotros y disfruté de la tradición. La comida era fantástica y me gustaría hacer un punto para volver a visitar este buen establecimiento si me encuentro de nuevo en Richmond (que espero ver con mejor tiempo 🙂).

I had the most wonderful experience at the white swan today. I wandered in on my lunch break from work and was greeted by two lovely women. When I asked if I could stay just for a coffee to get out of the rain, one of the ladies, Joe, showed me to a cosy little seat in the conservatory. I sat with a delicious coffee reading my book for about 20 minutes or so, surrounded by the hubbub of locals eating lunch, and rain lashing down on the roof and windows. When I went to the bar to settle up, Joe told me it was on the house and to come back any time. I was so taken aback and moved by their kind gesture. Totally unexpected but so incredibly appreciated. I will certainly be back to enjoy more cosy coffees and will treat myself to the odd lunch! Thank you Joe, (and team at the white swan) you totally made my day! See you all soon, mollie :)

Had a small party upstairs at the White Swan Pub Richmond last night....The whole experience from when I 1st enquired about it, to managing my requirements and then providing such perceptively great service. Great staff, food and atmosphere.

An excellent Christmas dinner! The portion size was more than generous, the roast potatoes were crisp and tasted as though they were cooked in duck/goose fat, the turkey wasn’t dry, the stuffing was flavoursome, and the cost was very reasonable. The atmosphere is lovely and I’ll definitely be back in 2025!

A great cosy pub and restaurant after a days walking around Richmond. Staff were some of the best I’ve come across in London. Lovely people and good wine list. Food was great, apart from the pie (crust wasn’t very good).

Lovely cosy pub but sadly little awareness of allergies and very little choice for someone with Coeliac Disease. The fish meal I had was nice but I had little choice. I wasn’t even offered gluten free bread which is now a normal option in most pubs and restaurants and was told o could have sandwiches without the bread!! Very disappointed especially as I had emailed and was reassured that gluten free meals were readily available.

I returned to the White Swan. Nice enough pub. Sadly, everything on their menu has garlic and the Chief could not accomodate me, with my allergy. All I wanted was a roast dinner. I was happy to go without spuds & gravey, but all the meat, with no expections had garlic. Not even a lamb chop in the house to make me a meal. We have a regular group 8-10 of us. Sadly, after 3 times where the pub was not at all interested in being able to cook me a meal, the group will now eat elsewhere.

Lovely dog friendly pub. Excellent service, staff very accommodating and friendly, especially towards our dog. Would recommend the Baked goats cheese Mille Fuille, the sea bass was nice but slightly small portion.

This pub has amazing charm along with attentive staff and delicious food. My husband and I decided to hold our wedding reception in the room upstairs and I couldnt say more about how accomodating and attentive the staff were. Vicky, the manager, is fantastic and created a delicious menu for us at a great price. She was very calm and organised on the day. Declan and Euan were the best bar staff and such crowd pleasers with the guests. No one was left without a drink! Erin and Emily were so sweet and really helped us out with the clean up at the end! Highly recommend the White Swan to anyone looking to book an event or just to have a pint and a meal.

Excelente ubicación cerca del Támesis. Buena cerveza y comida "pub" razonable, capaz de más opciones vegetarianas sería bueno ver. No demasiado ocupado - pero estoy seguro de que en el verano sería mejilla por mejilla. Personal amable y servicial, muy acogedor. Calificaría bien, pero las opciones estrella solo permiten promedio o muy bueno. Aparcamiento muy limitado por lo que el transporte público / paseo es la mejor opción

Bonito pub con buena cerveza y muy buena comida. Visité con amigos para tomar una copa y nos alojamos para algo de buena comida también. Se puso más ocupado a medida que pasaba la noche, lo que siempre es una buena señal.

Lovely little pub, feels like a village local.

We visited the pub on Monday for lunch and just wanted to say how fantastic the experience was. Both food and service was sublime. It was one of the nicest lunches I’ve ever had and as an ex pub licensee, wanted to give praise and credit to the team. Mussels followed by chicken parmigiana off the scale delicious. Will definitely be back when we are next in the area. Thanks for a very memorable and enjoyable lunch.

My inlaws lived in richmond for a short period of time and every time i went to visit them from the states we would always stop off at the white swan for amazing pints and great times

Great Sunday Lunch. Freshly cooked, large portions and amazing staff. Lovely outside seating. Highly recommend for an excellent Sunday roast. We will certainly be returning.

A true masterclass in how not to run a bar/restaurant, I think burgers from the Golden Arches might have been tastier. The staff were much more interested in chatting amongst themselves and when they came over there was a real, “ughhh you want us to do our job :(“ Even the poor delivery guy had to wait ages until one of them would sign his docket. On the upside they had a great range of ice cream and sorbet and the coffee was served hot, but good luck getting them to take an order from you!

Utterly depressing and bullish management and waiting staff. This pub is owned by a Brazilian individual who clearly has no oversight or has provided any training to his staff. The treatment of customers is awful. The manager will literally start shouting at you if you refuse to move from a table which you wish to sit out. We walked out as totally disgusted. This is in a beautiful part of Richmond but the staff have no understanding of the clientele or how to treat paying customers who were looking to spend nearly £100 for drinks and food.

Depressing and bullish customer service. What a disappointment this place turned out to be after living a short distance away, having booked a table three days in advance on a beautiful Sunday late lunchtime. We had indicated on our booking that we wished to sit outside in the garden but on our arrival we were told that we could not book a table after 12.30pm outside and needed to sit in a very warm part of the pub, not even in the conservatory. We suggested that we would find a seat on our own accord outside and spoke to a couple who were sitting on a scruffy beer table if we could join them as there was plenty of space. They were v pleasant and were happy to share their table. Unfortunately hell broke loose. A waitress and manager stormed outside telling us to get off the table in full view of the entire pub garden citing that it was ‘not fair to the couple on the table’ and the pub manager was ‘not happy’ with this arrangement, who made her appearance only to argue with us with her voice rising to an audible standard, insisting we must sit inside. We were of course utterly embarrassed and walked out. This for us was a special occasion where we had flowers to take to my father’s grave but instead what was expected to be a peaceful lunch turned into an argument with a manager and staff member about where we could sit. This will be the first and last time I will visit this pub. Had we had just ordered a drink and sat outside would we have been ordered off a table? The ‘manager’ clearly seemed to want to make a bigger deal by ordering us of the table embarrassing my son and I and the couple on the table! As a small garden, everyone could hear. The obvious way to manage our request situation would have been to suggest we wait inside and as soon as a table was free they would let us know but instead it was the most humiliating experience of my life, due to this aggressive and ignorant bar manager, who had absolutely no explanation as to why we could not share a table with other people, which I might add is common practice in pubs up and down the country! But instead just continued to shout at us as we were heading out the door at the top of her voice in full view of a very busy pub! Avoid, if you are looking for a quiet afternoon and don’t appreciate being ordered around as to where you can sit in a pub by highly confrontational and insulting bar staff who has had absolutely no management or customer relations skills or training.

My wife and I had sticky toffee pudding and Pinot Noir here and it was such a great experience! The staff is friendly and the garden area is a vibe!

Wonderful atmosphere (Sat night), lovely beer garden at rear, tasty meal in conservatory. Salmon Verde was particularly delicious. Staff were friendly and helpful despite the pub being busy. Highly recommended.

Lovely pub tucked down the street 100yds from Thames river. Inside and outside dining. Quite busy but the girls doing service coped well and were very friendly. Definitely would recommend a visit there.

This is a fabulous pub near to the river. The food was excellent and more importantly the staff are just amazing. We were celebrating a friends birthday and they could not do enough for us. It made my friends birthday very special. We will definitely return. Thank you.

A nice dinner at The White Swan with friendly service. Four stars for the food as the steak and mushroom on top was significantly over-salted (but tender). I also suggest better quality wine glasses to go with the very reasonably priced 2014 Segla.

We popped in for an impromptu lunch. We did book, very easily, online about 2 hours beforehand. It was busy so we were glad we had booked. The garden, where we had asked to be seated, was lovely. We were greeted and seated very efficiently and staff were incredibly attentive and friendly. We ordered drinks whilst considering the menu which, for a pub, was a bit better than standard. When it was served the food was delicious. Our dog was made to feel very welcome and this is clearly a very dog friendly pub. A special mention to the young lady in the green dress who went the extra mile in customer service.

Gave this pub a chance today and tried the fish and chips. 1 x fish and chips was 20£ which I guess is on par with London prices until we realised the half portion heading towards us was the one we ordered. No joke - literally half a fish. Slightly annoying as it wasn’t enough even for the one on ozempic. For some reason they did decide to give us a big half of a lemon. Lemon with a side of fish. Decided to look through the photos on here out of curiosity and noticed every single one had received a full fish and a looot more chips. We informed the nice guys on the till and left. Next time instead of the 15% service charge just ask us to bring our own fish.

If you’re in Richmond and are fortunate enough to find yourself around the White Swan - go there. In fact, plan it! Such a cool pub. Well run. Excellent food. Great atmosphere. Service is outstanding! Also … pop down to the Thames and do the walk into Richmond or down to Kew … and pop in for a beer in the way back! Super memorable pub! You’ll love it!

Cute country pub in Richmond, tucked away on quiet side road. We sat out the front and had the classic cheeseburger which was cooked to perfection, the French fries side were excellent too. Big beer selection, and friendly staff, overall will be back! I would say- we arrived in our cycle lyrca on a Friday night which was admittedly too informal to sit inside so we were lucky to be able to get a table out the front.

Really lovely pub just away from the busy streets of Richmond. It has a really cute courtyard too with a decent amount of seating. Nice drinks, friendly staff and dog friendly - what more do you need on a hot summers afternoon!

The pub itself is beautiful. The staff are very very unprofessional. One particular member of staff swearing, shouting rather than speaking, singing basically acting like he is in some boys party. Absolutely appalling customer service.

A local pub vibe with amazing food that’s nestled into a residential quiet area Of Richmond! Elevated pub food and knowledgeable staff. We didn’t have a reservation and didn’t feel super welcome at first, but we sat in the back garden for a pint and a table opened up. They got us in and all was well…they even gave us a free chips because it was late and they’d cooked up too much! We would take the walk down from the Richmond Hill Hotel all over again! We loved The White Swan!

Great service from Sam this Sunday. We booked a table for an important family event upstairs and it was a great experience. Food was very good, and the portions were so large we couldn't finish them. Recommended.

Tucked away down a lane this pub is a great hidden spot. The food is nice but the real standout was the service - the staff were all great and meant it was such a nice meal.

I adored stopping at this place for a drink. Large house white was only £12 I think and it was dry and delicious.

Starters were good and mains were ok but let down by the woman who served us - had to ask 3 times for a wine list, rolling her eyes and she huffed and puffed audibly so we could hear even as we were paying the £230 bill. There was a man who brought the food who was a lot more pleasant.

When communication isn't what it should be between staff, it is the time to review customer services. I was invited by a friend for a meal there. Upon arrival, as I went seeking a table, unknown to me, as he ordered drinks, and asked for the menu, he was told that they didn't serve food to "walk ins" by one of the staff. Seconds before someone who walked in, in front of us, was given a menu when he asked for it, no questions asked! We had the drinks ordered and went somewhere else to eat. You conclude. Enjoy.

Friendly atmosphere. Fantastic food we 3 had roast lamb,beef and pork. Came with all the rest, roast potatoes, roast veg gravy and Yorkshire puddings. Delicious. 2 guys had starters, mussels and goats cheese tart. I tasted both which were great. Weather was beautiful. Definitely worth a trip to Richmond.

Cozy pub with a nice atmosphere and good food in a great location

The Perfect place for a Sunday roast, next to the River. We had a full meal (starters, main, desserts and drinks) and everything was delicious, absolutely recommended 😋

Wonderful quintessential English pub, we always love this place. Food, however, is embarrassingly bad, and it has not improved for years. maun course is £20-30 on average, starter £10-15, not excruciatingly expensive but not cheaper either. One of the dishes was bean stew, and it came out without bean. After we had enquired about it, the bean was simply chucked in, meaning they were not stewed together with the soup. What is the point, really? The chef just doesn't have any idea about cooking.

Checked price list on wall then ordered a drink. Got charged £1 extra. Referenced price list on wall. Reply we go by the till. My reply I go by price list. Met with animosity. I continued arguing my point. Her colleague then waded in. I repeated my argument and she agreed I was right. The girl who served me handed me £1. No smile, no comment and no apology. Her colleague was the same. At no point did I interact with a manager or senior member of staff. The heartbeat of any company especially the hospitality sector is its customer service.

Came with a big group and was no problem. Delicious food. Whole group was impressed how waitress remembered all orders without notes

Excellent pub lunch, we decided to have lunch after a long walk in Richmond park. Being a bank holiday it was busy but all the staff were really friendly and welcoming. We sat in the upstairs dining room which was busy with groups of friends and family enjoying the bank holiday. The Australian lady serving food was really nice and recommended a couple of things for us to try. Our group had the fish cakes and the ham hock terrine to start. All good. We then had a lamb roast, a pork belly roast a roast rump of beef and the cod. These were all fantastic, cooked really well. Had lovely time and will definitely return. Wish it was our local!

The food here never fails to impress. Generous portions and well cooked food. The only criticism I would have is that the dining room is quite compact so the tables are squished close together with not much elbow room. Apart from that it will definitely be somewhere to return

Great little pub with wonderful staff and great food. I turned up with the rest of my family for Mother's Day to discover that I had, in fact, booked for the following day. Rather than disappoint, the staff went out of their way to accommodate us as soon as they could. The Sunday Roast on offer was both generous and delicious: amazing considering that they were missing a chef too. Thanks to everyone for saving the day and making us feel very welcome.

Tidily done out gastric pub which is on message with interior decor. Food, beer and wine all delicious. I had fish cake and the bouillabaisse. The latter could have come with a bit more soup though the seafood parts were nicely done. Cheese platter was ok, nothing exceptional. Staff were lovely.

Rating IMO: 4.3 Good for Sunday roast. Fast service.
