The White Swan in Sheffield

Wasn’t happy with the service at the bar asked what to tonic was available as I I couldn’t see which one I wanted she said can’t you see we only have regular tonic ? Very rude !

There was a karaoke night whilst we were there that dominated most of the pub, the quality was varied and music too loud but we did manage to find a quieter corner where we could hear the person across the table

Comí patatas fritas y guisantes esta noche, pero estaba muy decepcionado de ser servido solo un dedal lleno de guisantes mushy! ¿Realmente no puedes entender esto ya que los guisantes mushy son tan baratos como cualquier otra cosa, así que por qué estropear la comida de alguien escatimando en ellos? ¡Pon los guisantes en el plato! Luego había microondas pastel de manzana por lo que la corteza estaba empapado! Lo siento, pero siento que la comida una vez excelente está empezando a bajar ligeramente cuesta abajo! ¡Son solo los pequeños toques! Por lo demás estaba bien y las patatas fritas siguen siendo tan buenos!

Lamentablemente no decepcionó mi primera visita. Últimas 2 veces no pensé bien que era yo, pero fui testigo de otras 2 quejas de comida y era consciente de que esto es viernes y solía estar lleno de las mismas personas que ya no están frecuentando este pub a la hora del almuerzo. No me retrasará entrar pero no comeré hasta que la comida mejore. Este es un encantador pub amable y el personal del bar tan amable y servicial. Pero los alimentos que lo dejaban caer mi pescado eran demasiado grasosos y las patatas fritas empapadas. Escuché otras quejas a mi alrededor. Espero que este consejo se tenga en cuenta y que los alimentos mejoren pronto. Gran pub por lo demás calificación alimentaria hoy 1.

AVOID!!!! Absolutely horrendous. 50 minutes wait for a panini that was a part baked roll that had never been put in a sandwich press. Served all regulars before me even though they ordered afterwards. There were 9 people eating in the entire pub! One half of my sandwich had no fillings in it and the staff are kinda rude. PLEASE AVOID, YOU'LL THANK ME! Oh and it's overpriced!!!

Everything that a real pub should be, this place has live music on a Sunday, a core set of locals, great for an early bar and a host of pub classics on the menu. If you want to go for a pint by yourself or with a few pals I would recommend the Whit Swan to anyone, it's part of the ever dwindling real pubs that make a community.

We went for tea tonight for the first time the food was lovely and service was prompt and efficient. Would highly recommend and we will definitely visit again.

I went at 12.30 on Fri August the 8th 2024 to meet my Old Pal Colin, who lives locally - the first time, I've been in, in over ten years.....The lady who served me was pleasant enough and in being a real ale fan, the Taylors Landlord was spot on - in right good nick, so well done to the cellar person....We did not eat, so can't comment re snap...Seemed to be largely locals, who were pleasant - I can't imagine there is much passing trade in the village but overall it was a pleasant place to have a bevvy and unlike my normal hangouts of the cracking Real Ale boozers in Kelham Island in Sheffield.....I'd go again - thank you....

Didn't really feel welcomed at this place, unless your a regular customer, they don't really make you feel at home. Not a big variation of drinks and cannot comment on food due to it not being served on the day we went. Not the best of experiences!

Personal grosero, incluso más grosero chef / propietario. No hay baños de acceso para discapacitados y se les hace sentir un inconveniente debido a la silla de ruedas y se les dice que deben sentarse fuera, bajo la lluvia como silla en el camino. ¡Evita!

Impressive service and polite staff.

Best pub in Sheffield. The food is all home made and soooo tasty! We go for Sunday carvery often as it's our local and is always bang on.

Always a pleasant welcome here, a great variety of lagers and ales and the food is amazing, I have eaten out plenty and this food is as good as any establishment I have ever visited.

White swan 🦢 is a local pub, an old stone built building and a cosy atmosphere serving food of a good standard .staff helpful and friendly . Excellent Sunday roast dinner . Can highly recommend the xmas meal now being served this week .excellent Xmas meal.good service and a very relaxing cosy place to eat a Xmas meal.

1st time visiting this week after a walk in graves park , nice clean place, food was excellent and a good beer, only fault was advertising cask ale that wasn’t on , definitely going back when in area , we live in Rotherham

Went on Sunday with some friends who live local,been 3 times now and had a wonderful time on every occasion. They have a singer on called Gary who's very entertaining and funny well worth a visit on a Sunday,but beware can get busy Highly recommended. Do yourselves a favour and go!

Just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone at the pub for putting on great food and the care, sensitivity and support given at my mums wake on the 12th October. The food was just what I asked for and more, tasty and well presented. Thank you.

Four of us went on Wed evening for a friend's birthday, the food was cooked to perfection, the service was second to none,the atmosphere was just what we wanted, a nice quiet homely atmosphere 😊 the chef on duty that night, a young man , sorry l dont recall his name, which l should have because he went way beyond his call of duty, he was very pleasant and couldn't do enough to accommodate our dietary requirements, ( we are a picky bunch 😀) but this young man ensured we got what we wanted, he was attentive, fetched us more drinks ( it was very quiet that evening ,only us eating at that time ) so we wouldn't expect on busy nights, ) he came back to the table a few times to see if we needed anything else, we had a bit of banter with him which lm sure he enjoyed, his young helper that night was also very pleasant and helpful,

An excellent meal, great friendly service, didn't feel rushed, only downside the car park is quite small for a very popular busy pub. Would definitely recommend and have already booked for a fortnight's time!!

Comfy dog friendly local. Multi roomed, each room with a different vibe. Locals friendly.

I Watched numerous ‘locals’ served before myself, even though I waited patiently at the bar. When I was finally acknowledged at the bar, It was rudely explained that I could order food but it would be a 40 minute wait. In addition to this a was charged different prices for my drink. Definitely a local’s establishment and would avoid if you’re not from the area.

The white Swan public house in Greenhill village. What a place to go too but I am talking about a few years ago. I had a friend who was the pubs piano player and was really well known in Sheffield. He used to play the piano 7 nights a wee. The pub used to be just a keg pub until it changed landlords/managers, then the hand pulled ale came on the scene, and everything changed. The beer was absolutely knockout, and the pub was run by great staff and was always friendly. I have had some great nights in the Swan listening to the crowds singing when Ruben Alan was playing the piano. Oh, I wish he was still playing the piano I haven't been in the pub for over 18 years as I know longer live in Sheffield but I do miss the pub and the staff I use to know. The Swan does some excellent meals and is not too expensive. The one thing I missed was listening to Ruben playing the piano he was a great friend to know he certainly drew the people into the pub with his piano playing.

Really friendly pub with delicious home cooked food, not the cheapest but worth every penny.

My family and I were rejoicing in advance to have a bite in this restaurant on Sunday late afternoon. But we learned only on site that they did not serve any food past a certain hour. Lesson learned: Contact the restaurant about when the last food order is taken. Although it felt like it could be a nice place to eat-in (as recommended on the day by a local), I rated this place with a low mark because we felt more as a burden to the member of staff we talked to, rather than feeling welcome to eat there a next time.

Very nice place and the food was some of the best pub food I've ever had, 11/10, awesome.

Proper pub. Good food abd beer.

We were a party of 24 on a Friday night and despite not having preordered we all got what we wanted at more or les the same time. My steak pie and chips was excellent and very good value. Service was with a smile despite being so busy. Will definitely be back!

Great pint of guinness in here! Not in guinness glass but was very busy and still in tulip style glass. Perfect temperature pint of the black stuff. Been before will come again

Great lunch, food was excellent. Homemade chips, lasagna, gammon steak and vegetables shepherds pie. Definitely recommend. The staff were so friendly.

Been upping our visits to this pub for mid week dinner. Consistently good, home cooked food, very reasonably priced eg lasagne £10! Usually a specials board too for extra choice. Always a homely atmosphere and a warm welcome. Give it a try and support the local community or travel from afar, either way you won’t be disappointed.

Great staff, good beer, plenty of room, good ambience. I'd suggest the owner takes down the A4 sheet that's by the bar telling staff what happens if they get drinks wrong in the till and what they can and cannot drink! That should remain private and I'm not sure it's even legal!

Been living in Dronfield for nearly 3 years and this is the first time I’ve visited one of our local pubs, The White Swan, and I’ve got to say highly impressed, lovely atmosphere, home from home and great guys behind the bar - very welcoming to our dog as well. Definitely recommend and we’ll be back without a doubt ❤️

Lovely village pub with a variety of different rooms. It's cosy and welcoming and my beer was lovely. They were playing some great music too at just the right level.

Popped in for a quick Friday evening pub - lovely staff, great beer, and superb venue. Really nice to be able to sit out and enjoy.

Lovely atmosphere and welcoming staff. Looked at a menu and asked if I pre-ordered a vegetarian meal because I wanted it tweaking. They said no problem. The weather took a turn for the worst and the landlord was happy to lend me a brolly from lost property. Even gave my dog fresh chicken. What more could you ask for?!

Please note. This review is for the food and entertainment and not a negative review on the pub and staff. Came here for my 88 year old mother in law to meet up with some old friends and listen to another friend singing. We had the Sunday ‘carvery ’. Not really a carvery at all. The meat was served on a plate and then the vegetables brought to your table. The food was tasteless and bland. Then came the entertainment. Gary ? He was a decent-ish club singer but his banter between songs was dire. He made jokes about stealing shoes from mosques, jokes about dementia, and then asked various people in the audience (most in their 70’s or 80’s ) what they called their own or their partners penis. He didn’t judge the room. My MIL and her friend said he didn’t used to be that crude and they were upset about making fun of dementia, especially as one of their party is dealing with dementia. I went outside and took the dog for a long walk around the village then sat and had a drink in the excellent outside space. My party wanted to leave before he had finished. Shame as they were so looking forward to seeing him. Big shout out to the staff. They were excellent. Friendly and really efficient. Great place to go to meet friends for a drink.

Visiting Derbyshire for 3 days, found lovely pub the White Sawn, had evening meal, to start crab cakes, which were lovely, main salmon with king prawn’s on bed of vegetable with a side of home made chips. The food was amazing the staff even better.

What a lovely olde pub. Very nice beers and the food 👌. The music they play is so uplifting and relaxing all the greatest oldies. Perfect for when drinking or eating a perfect meal.

We order food and drinks as we got there and the chef was on the bar so he hard is order we order a 2nd round of drinks and someone orded food got r Ethere’s be4 us the bed was very Arrogant and abrupt we waited a further 15 minutes and still didn’t get home we just got up and left I would advise no one to order food there was very disappointed will never go in there again thanks to the chef

Absolutely amazing, such a cool little pub. Food was amazing, had a chat with the chef, who had worked at the pub for 40 years. Filled us in on the history. Absolutely brilliant experience.

Had a Xmas meal with 9 friends on the 16th December and had a great evening. Our meals were excellent (10 clean plates) and so was the entertainment. A PROPER pub run by great people.

Absolutely fabulous great carvery Sunday lunch we had but other options. Desserts delicious great value for money friendly staff definitely will be returning and booking their Christmas fayre.

Very friendly with a good selection of gins. Comfortable and relaxing, excellent service. Didn't have a meal but the menu looked great and would definitely go back and try their home cooked and fresh meals.

We found the menu was a little limited with less choice than usual. But the meals we had were tasty and very good value, the staff worked hard but seemed to be struggling with the work load, when offered the desert menu no one returned to take our order and after quite a while we paid and left, we will go back again maybe next time, desert

After calling in for one drink I was told by the very abrupt bar staff the my exemption certificate on my phone was fake even after the land lord verified it I have never felt so humiliated in my life .I have copd witch means I can Bearley breath shame on you white Swan and train your staff better

Relaxed but safe Covid measures in place. Only had a drink this time but will eat there in the near future. It's a good dark evening place to relax. Good lighting and music to my taste.

Visited twice in one weekend. First time for drinks and there was a good atmosphere on a Friday night. A couple of hand pulled ales. Good selection of gin. Went back for food on the Saturday night. Arrived at 8 and the chef saw us looking at the menu and told us service finished at 8. He must have seen our disappointment as he very kindly offered to do us food. So glad he did. Had the steak and ale pie and it was really good, from a bigger pie tray with shortcrust pastry top and bottom. Chips were double fried proper chips. Veg was a little disappointing but can’t complain as the chef stayed back to cook for us. The food was very reasonably priced as well. Would happily recommend you visit and will be going back if in the area again.

First time back after lockdown and apart from the necessary precautions nothing has changed. Great service, great beer and great company. I was up with my dog and he was looked after better than I was. Will be back up there on no time at all. 5*

No puedo alabar al cisne blanco lo suficiente. Esta fue mi primera visita. Bien, era domingo a la hora del almuerzo, y este fue un buen almuerzo de domingo. Las articulaciones de cerdo y gammon, mis elecciones, estaban perfectamente preparadas y servidas generosamente. Las verduras eran frescas y abundantes. Rellenos y Yorkshire Puds que la mayoría de las Carveries se equivocaron realmente se probaron. Lo mejor de todo fueron las papas asadas [cocidas antes de asarlas]. . . Nunca me han servido nada tan bien. Más deliciosos - y tradicionales - Pudines. Personal amigable. . . ¡Cómo los clientes deben valorar este lugar! !

Lovely local pub with good food and friendly staff. The only thing missing is an accessible disabled toilet, which should be provided in all public premises.

Prices of drink on the high side, just shy of £9 for 2 lagers. Bar staff friendly enough and a beer garden (it’s part of the car park) available. Saturday hight very quite. They do food but didn’t partake.
