If you’re craving a meal that feels like a warm hug, this spot delivers homemade food of the highest quality. The chicken and vegetable pie was nothing short of exceptional. The crust was perfectly flaky, encasing a filling that was rich, hearty, and packed with tender chicken and fresh, perfectly cooked vegetables. The homemade chips on the side were a delight, golden and crisp on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside. Every bite spoke of care and attention to detail. It’s a meal that feels both comforting and indulgent. Highly recommended!

Myself & the wife called in for a meal at just after 3pm today, we were sat on table 12 & the wife ordered Scampi & I ordered a 10oz Ribeye steak with chips salad onion rings & mushroom with a Diane Sauce, I asked for my steak medium & well rested so no blood. We didn’t order any starters but waited a good 45/50 minutes for our main courses, both meals looked very well presented & that’s really the good thing about my meal, the first piece of steak I cut off was really chewy, I tried a few more bits of the steak & I was just having to swallow lumps because I could not chew it, the waitress came over to see how things were & I said this is really chewy & to be fair she offered to change it, but because we had waited so long in the first place I politely declined & said unfortunately we just don’t have the time, I tried a few more bits but I ended up having to spit it out into my hand & put back on the plate. I ate the chips & other garnish but sent back a good 85/90% of the steak, now my wife works in a very well known steak restaurant & she knows her steaks, when we asked for our bill my wife asked if it would be possible to take off the price of the steak, I was happy to pay for the chips & everything else that came with it, she said she would speak with the manager who when came to our table said that she & the chef had cut into the steak in 3 different places & it was a perfect medium, this was not my issue, the issue was you could not chew the steak but according to the manager it was cooked how I had asked for it so it had to be alright, surely you can cook a steak to how you ask for it but it could be just a bad steak. Her attitude was poor trying to talk down to me & told me nothing wrong with it so I had to pay. So payed £43.95 £26 plus £4 for a sauce for something I could not eat. I think a course on man management would not go a miss. We will never go in this pub again even though it’s on our doorstep.

Rocky start under new owners but vastly improved customer service in recent months. Food is top class, amazing but very limited vegetarian and vegan options. The beer selection has also improved, ditched the Fosters for Amstel, but still lacks good cask/real ale options. Not as warm and friendly as it used to be but certainly the best option in the area. Strong recommendation for a Sunday lunch (if you're a carnivore).

My second visit to the Robin Hood Inn. My first visit resulted in a superb quality Sunday roast. On Saturday, we revisited to sample the specials board. They didn't disappoint. I shared a Korean Spiced Chicken, and there was plenty. It had a medium level of spice, which left a slight tingle, a taste of sweet chilli and succulent chicken. The main course was pan-fried salmon, cooked to perfection - asparagus, tasty new potatoes, and a creamy hollandaise sauce (which didn't have a citrus aftertaste). I was full and was going to pass on pudding, but was persuaded by the lemon meringue tart. It was everything it promised to be tart lemon filling, Italian soft meringue middle, slightly caramelised and crunchy meringue topping; a vanilla pod ice cream of high quality finished the dish. This is a chef who uses high-quality products and really excels at his craft!

It was a different veg pie, beans and with funny tasting chips which I believe was cooked iin other than veg oil though advertised as vegetarian. Nice enough place BUT all tables booked out for food so nowhere to sit. Yet another boozer which makes it impossible just to go and sit for a quiet pint or two. Ok, I'll add a bit more following their response below. They're clearly very quick to take offence and quick off the mark responding to any review which they don't agree with. It's not particularly customer focused is it? There needs to be a new name/definition for places like this - restaurant perhaps? But they shouldn't be allowed to call themselves a pub. The entire pub is devoted to food tables, not just one area. And I know plenty of smaller pubs which have a food area and a drinking area and do perfectly well as businesses. So, Robin Hood, lighten up, take feedback on board from your customers, and don't take everything so personally.

A really nice cozy pub with a good menu, upon arriving everything was great and our food for the most part was really good, one member of our group ordered the fish as we’ve heard good things about it. This particular fish came and had a really strong smell and the taste made him gag, he’s not at all a picky eater and usually would not complain but everyone in the group smelt it and knew something was amiss. We complained to the waitress who headed to the kitchen and the lady in charge returned, she assured us the fish was fine and fresh, she did offer other options but at this point he was totally put off my the strong ammonia smell of the fish and the taste after trying his best to give it a chance. I’m not saying all the fish is bad I’m sure they sell loads daily and it is normally fresh but this particular one was really off. We finished our meal he left the whole of the fish, we told them how great it all was but again asked for the chef to just smell the fish as he would know right away it wasn’t right and we wouldn’t want any more bad ones slipping through and people getting sick. Then the bill arrived.. despite us complaining numerous times about the fish and it not been eaten, it was on the bill. We mentioned it politely again expressing how everything else was delicious but they refused to take it off the bill. The lady in charge in this interaction became incredibly rude, dismissive and argumentative about this. She came back to us two times upon disappearing to the kitchen in a huff saying she offered other options that we refused, to which we responded that he had truly been put off any food (it really was that bad). She dismissed us and made out we were wrong when we were already quite embarrassed about complaining. Eventually she took it off the bill but continued the rest of the interaction with a really poor, unprofessional attitude as if it was an argument when we were extremely polite through out not wanting to cause a fuss- we even paid for the portion of chips that were on the plate. This is such a shame to put a terrible end to an otherwise good evening and sadly was enough for me to leave my first negative review. If it was just the fish i would not complain but the way it was resolved was unacceptable and left us feeling like a major inconvenience that will sadly stop me from returning even though we enjoyed the rest of the food.

I use to live not far from the robin hood and it was then what us camera members use to call a fizz pub IE they didn't serve hand pull beer or real ale. But the pub was always buzzing with drinkers and wives and husbands enjoying good company with their friends. I had been in the robin hood a few times with my wife and family but I always drank Newcastle brown. The staff in the pub was really friendly but the landlord/ manager could be a bit awkward if he didn't like us camera members. But I guess it will have changed hands by now as I moved out of the area 19 years ago and went to live in a beautiful village in Scotland where I still live. I would love to go back to see the robin hood and see if they finally got hand pulled real ale as it was the going thing then and still is in the pubs in Rotherham/ Sheffield. Maybe one day I might get back and view the robin hood and all the other pubs in and around aughton would make a change from drinking Scottish real ale which don't get me wrong I absolutely love the Scottish stout that is made in Scotland.

There is a car park which is a decent size but as it a popular place there weee very few places to park but I think you can park on the main road too so it should be an issue. We entered the restaurant and it was full, with the only table available being ours. The staff were friendly and seated us immediately. We ordered our food , beef dinner and turkey dinner. Both were excellent especially the beef which was cooked to perfection. Throughout our meal the staff were attentive and it’s definitely a restaurant we would recommend.

Lovely food and staff however, being seated in between two large tables in the middle of the dining area, spoilt the experience. The table was small, low and square with a cast iron leg which meant that you couldn't sit comfortably and had to lean forward to eat. On top of this because we had been crammed in between two tables, anyone wanted to get passed had to brush passed our food. We left feeling like we had eaten in a canteen.

This is an amended review after reflection upon email conversations between the Robin hood inn and myself yesterday. I have had my hand forced in this and have been left with no other options on the table. I will start with this if people like food, pub food, fish and chips, pies, and burgers, and don't mind paying a tad more than normal than seriously you will not be disappointed i urge you all to try this place. This inn is not a pub or inn like its namesake it is a restaurant that does a pub quiz on a Thursday evening. However, you will struggle to get a seat inside, and they will not let u book a table for the quiz in their own admittance they are focusing on food and are defiant in accepting any sort of constructive criticism to the point of replying with sarcasm in emails and one or 2 of the staff have a patronising and aragant attitude and a serious over done chip on there shoulder. I was brought up knowing freedom of speech, but as soon as you walk into this restaurant, you are met tables and menus, and the awe of this is what we are we are not apologetic in this you have to put up with it or the doors behind you not a welcoming inn on a road that this looks like as you approach. People have had things to say about the rude service of the staff and tired look of the building, and i will say have an open mind and give it a try they might have just being having a bad day but don't sell you soul if u don't agree with something don't just put up with it. Outside there 5 or 6 pub tables and benches and on a lazy summer evening this is the place to be. on a whole, the restaurant is an unfinished cake if u like it has great potential, but the human errors and narrow-minded staff will slow down any blossoming pleasureness of this place the simply refuse to accept they maybe wrong. I say this, grab a pot of salt, and give this restaurant a try. The salt isn't for the food it's to take the staff with a pinch of. oh, I end with this if u want to do this quiz, book a table for 1900 -1930 and order a starter and a pudding they won't decline u a table then and u can enjoy u quiz

This coffee shop has recently changed hands and is called Sarah’s Kitchen. Visited a few times recently and it’s a lovely friendly place serving great coffee and tasty homemade food. They offer milk alternatives which is great for anyone with milk intolerances. I can thoroughly recommend the homemade chips, panini’s and cakes. Fab coffee shop addition to Greenhill Village.
