If you’ve never been to the Crosspool Tavern in Crosspool Sheffield and tried their food then you really should. I pass them frequently on my travels and before lockdown I used to pop in regularly for their all you can eat breakfast. Anyway, I had a look on their website and on Wednesdays they do burgers for £8.99 so I thought I’d give it a go and I am glad I did. Just look at that photo which doesn’t do the meal justice. The bun was clearly made and baked on the day I had my meal. The lettuce and tomatoes with the burger were clearly fresh and obtained that day. They were nice and crisp. That burger was cooked to perfection and it tasted divine. Being a vegetarian it was a delight to eat. I am getting hungry again just writing this. Those wedges, well what can I say? The chef had clearly made them that day. I paid for a pub lunch but I got a home cooked meal. That is how good the food was. I paid a 2nd class price but got a first class meal. On top of that a few things I love about the Crosspool Tavern. The food is a dream to eat. The staff are very friendly. I was served by Louise and Andy who are very pleasant to say the least. The atmosphere is very friendly and there is always a great crowd in. One thing I’ve notice when I go in for lunch is the large number of families who go in which is always good to see. What’s not to like? So, the usual questions. Was it worth the money? Good value at 5 times the price. Would I go there again? Of course. Would I recommend anyone else to go in? Absolutely. What would I advise the public. Go and try the wonderful food- you will not be disappointed. I also recommend the all you can eat breakfast on Fridays, Saturdays and Sunday. It’s actually cheaper to pay for it than to make your own breakfast at home!

Such a naff carvery. Meat is cooked well done, sometimes it’s good, sometimes it’s really dry. The Yorkshires are tiny and not homemade. The Veg is boiled to death then left under hot lights to become dried up and mushy. Honestly half your plate becomes soft and puréed so great for people with swallowing issues. Roast potatoes are alright- nothing special. The saving grace is the lovely carvers and staff.

I had a pint of Carling Xtra cold. It was nice. Busy enough place.

Overall, can't fault it much for a roast dinner, the cauliflour is always raw though, please stop cooking it with a hairdryer.

We enjoyed our carvery there was more choice of vegetables but was shocked at the price of two large cokes at £7.20. Think I will have alcoholic drink next time.!

Shocking. Served up 2 of the smallest slices of meat. Raised this with the ‘chef’ to be told ‘you get 150 grams’ and that ‘Stonehouse would rather them throw the meat away than give it to the customers’. Was also freezing cold. So disappointing. Never again.

Very nice staff, always very helpful, and food is lovely and very reasonable. Took quite a long time to get the food though but there were 11 of us. However, it wasn't very busy so if it had been it would have been far too long to wait.

We had crispy fried chicken, and battered mushrooms both really delicious, followed by Fajita pizza. Had to have a pizza box to take one of the pizzas home, as we were too full to eat it all. The staff are friendly and Louise who brought us our food was lovely.

amazing place for some good food, the drinks were very appealing on the eyes and tasted just as good as they looked, would definitely recommend again and Dylan, the big boss took great care of us and the cleanliness of our table was great. Felix is the most courteous and pleasant waiter i have ever had, and i have reached the grand old age of 73 yrs and now live in Spain. Would like to take him back to Spain The carvery was also brilliant

Dropped in on the off chance I could grab a breakfast. Promised an abundance of food and coffee. Lots of food, but didn't manage too much of a second portion for obvious reasons. Found Dylan to be very welcoming and extremely good with customers that I observed him interact with. One very, very minor issue was I didn't realise I was on the clock in terms of having come in so late morning and food being cleared away (quite rightly) before noon (I just didn't know is all). "Met" the chef who was very welcoming too and a warm welcome also provided. Will be back, especially since I ow realise they do have parking (but that isn't obvious either) though it seems customers may not be aware of need to register their vehicles as I heard some issue over receipt of parking tickets - but swiftly resolved by Dylan in a professional manner.

Fairly standard budget type of place. Nice building and good grounds, however be warned, the staff are not allowed to carry food out to the beer garden. Apparently, if they fall whilst walking up the steps “the company will have to pay”. I did point out that if a customer falls walking up the steps that the company would also have to pay, but my humour was wasted!

I can’t have alcohol because of the medication I’m on so I opted for a tonic water. It was dispensed from a free flow machine and it tasted off, watery and strange flavour. My husband took it back and the barmaid just shrugged her shoulders. He got me a zero calorie beer but she didn’t offer to take the price of the rotten tonic off his bill. Never again. Poor establishment.

Received a lovely warm welcome from the team, especially Louise. She recognised two toddlers close to tantrums and two frazzled parents. We were seated quickly and helped with ordering, sorting the car park and drinks brought over due to hands full of children 😂 The little thoughtful gestures such as assisting with the ice cream and speaking to our children helped us have a really lovely time with no meltdown. We visited for a family lunch. I'm not sure if this establishment belongs to the same group as The Moorlands but it certainly has the same disappointing run down look to it. The building desperately needs a refurb. Even the entrance is quite grotty and off-putting. The toilets had an unclean feeling and look about them but perhaps it was just that they desperately needed decorating. There were six of us and we all had the carvery which was fine. We understood that with a carvery we could go back as many times as we wanted but couldn't have more meat. We were disappointed when we were told we could only have one Yorkshire pudding but the person serving told us if people insisted on more than one then they could have two but that was the maximum. When we questioned this a member of staff came to our table and told us the manager said it was because of costs. I would have thought that Yorkshire pudding was quite a cheap item on the menu. Won't be returning because for me a carvery where you can return for more food means just that. Also the poor run down appearance of the place is very off putting.

We haven't visited the Crosspool Tavern for a Sunday carvery for a very long time and we wasn't disappointed. The carvery food was very good and value for money. The service was excellent and a big shout out to Louise who looked after us so well, going over and above for our elderly mum to make her feel special. We will be back.

Over the past 18 years or so, I've occasionally visited the Crosspool Tavern with family & friends. And all though the the place isn't what it used to be say 10/ 15 years ago i.e,, atmosphere wise (what pubs are these days) I still think its lovely place that's worth visiting every now and then. I do think that it did loose its spark a few years ago, but on the last few visits it does seem to have got its mojo back again. The management & staff make you feel welcome & the food was excellent. In the words of Arnie, I'll be back!!

Went here today because I fancied a carvary. I have a few allergies too. Dillon & Alisha were lovely. They went above and beyond to cater for my needs. They listened and took on board what I said. Dillon even made sure the veg was cooked fresh so they weren't contaminated, which I thought was really kind and considerate. I will definitely be coming back here. I felt at ease and didn't worry too much about what I was eating. You guys gave a good service. Thank you for being so considerate

Worst place I’ve ever been. Family talked me into staying but they soon regretted it. No music could hear every noise and poor manners. Food was my worst nightmare. Two of the family couldn’t eat it was so poor. Guy serving showing crack everywhere, dirty tables and guy at the bar looked in pain when serving 👎

Fantastic place for food and service, been at the crosspool tavern multiple times and every time the service and food is top tier. I love Jenny and Andy who are always service with a smile. We have been round with our rugby league and without hesitation made sure everyone felt comfortable all night long with fantastic roast potatoes for everyone to dig into. Highly recommend this place 😁

Beef and turkey were extremely good. Very small amount of cabbage and carrots left stood in water in the serving dishes, needed topping up sooner. Staff were very helpful.
