After recently meeting Pat & the team at the New Stage, we booked to go back to try their Sunday roast, and it did not disappoint. The meal was classic comfort food, offering generous portions of tender roast beef & lamp with a crispy Yorkshire pudding and roast potatoes. The vegetables were fresh and well-seasoned. What really stood out was the rich, flavourful gravy that tied everything together. The relaxed atmosphere of the pub added to the experience, making it a great spot for a traditional Sunday lunch.

The New Stag Inn offers an excellent Sunday lunch experience! I visited today and was thoroughly impressed by the quality and portion size of the roast dinner. The meal was generous, especially with the potatoes – no skimping here! Every element was cooked to perfection, and the flavors really stood out, making it feel like a proper, home-cooked roast. Considering the portion size and quality, it’s fantastic value for money. If you’re after a hearty, satisfying Sunday lunch, the New Stag Inn is definitely worth a visit. I’ll certainly be back!

We popped in for a drink after a dog walk - so family friendly and welcoming. We sat outside by the fountain for last of the summer sun - gorgeous. Homemade dog treats too! Thank you! Will be back soon for a Roast! 😆

Nice decor and lovely staff but very poor food. I was very disappointed with my food. The calamari looked as if it been bought in frozen and then deep fried. My truffle tagliatelle was supposed to come in a creamy sauce but it was just pasta with oil and a few bits of mushroom. It repeated on me all the next day. They do make a very good espresso martini though. I will not be returning.

From the moment we walked in the service for a village pub was superb. Then onto the carvery it is just like home cooked and the portions are so generous. Tom was brilliant and even pulled a beef pie which of course I wanted to sample. I will be coming back now all the time I’m in the area.

WOW!!! what a fantastic find, we stumbled on The White Stag in Monkton last Sunday, beautiful decor, inviting atmosphere, very fun friendly pub with fabulous traditional English Roast dinner. It is the best roast dinner in THANET!! Food was absolutely amazing, 5 star, all staff super friendly, excellent table service, top value for money in beautiful surroundings. The owner of the pub Tom cannot do enough for you. The food portion is fit for a king. I will be visiting this hidden gem everytime I come here. You will not find a better Roast Dinner around I have tried them all and The White Stag is by far the best!

We were staying at the nearby Foxhunters Park and saw on TA some good reviews for this place. We'd been out for the morning and wanted some lunch and a drink, so parked up behind in the car park and went in. Lots of construction going on all around but the pub was clean and very comfortable. We were advised they were not doing lunches, so we ordered drinks. We went and sat in the lovely leather chairs and were chatting about our morning. Some others came in at the same time as us, obviously regulars, they sat near the bar chatting to the person that served us. But soon their conversation became loud and the member of staff was using the F word in practically every sentence, not quietly either! It was so unpleasant that we left, as we walked past the member of staff and friends, the member if staff said "oh I'd forgotten you were there" That was obvious!! Needless to say we did not return, no-one needs a welcome like that!! Probably a one off but we didn't want to take the chance, we had our granddaughter with us, and it embarrassed us.

The room was clean but here are some things I would like to have known. The name a photos look like a hotel but it was a room in a pub .... our bathroom was not in our room..it was along the corridor. The only food available in the pub was pizza and garlic bread. There was music playing in the pub until.after midnight which we could hear in our room and we were not able to sleep.. these things should be clearly stated before you book or at least should be told on arrival. It depends what kind of stay you are looking for. If you want to go out for a drink etc and then somewhere to stay from about half 11 this is a nice place to do that. If you want a restful stay and to actually sleep in the room then it's not for you. What upset me is I didn't know what time the music was going off so at 12.15 I had to get dressed and go into a pub and ask. I was told midnight and they did turn it off. But it was a unpleasant experience which could have been avoided if basic customer service was in place.

Stayed three nights in one of the most friendly places we’ve been to. The room was nicely presented, the breakfast baskets more than adequate for a morning kick start. What makes this place so good was the staff, the proprietor Tom was exceptionally friendly and engaging and his team were equally friendly and went out of their way to make our stay so good. Lucy behind the bar could not have been more helpful or friendly and the young man making the pizzas of an evening was exceptional - freshly made pizza to order while you watch on! Looking forward to our next stay next weekend.

We stayed here for 2 nights while visiting family. The room was newly decorated and spotlessly clean by there are some issues which we feel should be pointed out for consideration when booking. There were no fans provided in the rooms so in warm weather, the only option for cool air is to open the windows - but we had the noise of the air con at the rear and patrons of the pub sitting outside chatting at the front , so sleeping difficult until the pub closed. We didnt know about the breakfast arrangement until we arrived, boxes are placed outside of the room when the pub closes at night. This arrangement could have worked if a choice was given to guests on a simple order form the night before, choice of roll or croissant, juice , fruit and jam. The boxes should be put out in the mornings to ensure that the yogurts are chilled and the cheese in the croissants has not sweated. The pub has a dining room- this would have been a much better option for the charge rate. The light in the hallway outside the bathroom was our biggest issues, the bulb is very bright and is triggered by anyone walking in the corridor outside as well as by us moving around In the room . If you get up in the night it lights up the room! Music playing in the bar early in the morning is not fair on guests The hot water is dangerously hot in both the shower and sink taps - beware The room was not made up and it was left to us to ask at the bar for top ups of tea and sugar- ok for 2 nights but not ideal for a longer stay. We travel a lot and felt that for £100 per night this wasnt good enough.

Stayed at this hotel for 2 nights the room was verity clean all new furniture it had recently been refurbished but; The room was not serviced on the first night so bins were not emptied or room cleaned no more milk or sugar put out I don’t understand why if you stay for one night this would have to be done so not doing for a two night stay is to suit them, unless you are to be given a discount for second night!! And all night on first night cars were driving in and out over gravel drive and hotel doors were banging impossible to sleep. Breakfast was a box left outside your door, it had 2 rolls no butter or jam in it a piece of fruit and yogurt they would be better not bothering. But the staff were very pleasant and helpful I wouldn’t stay there again if you are going to give basic then make it basic .

Table booked for 3 didn't get seated till 3.30 Asked if we wanted starters but didn't show us starter board??! We skipped to main. Meat smelt great . I was told on phone £9.95 on the Tuesday before,we sat down: waitress says its £10.95. Lots of lovely fresh beef and lamb followed by luke warm very over cooked packet frozen vegetables, peas ,carrots, broccoli, crucified parsnips and yorkies, Warm-ish gravy, Roasties were fresh but massively over cooked and soft. Really really disappointing and at £11!! What a massive profit margin they're making ! Shockingly bad. Don't bother! Awful service , a few young girls waiting that had no idea what they were doing.lots of things being dropped on the floor . A bit of a circus really. Had beautiful very fresh pub food for less than £10 in numerous places locally.

I came for sunday lunch. They took a while to let anyone on the restuarant, even though every thing was ready. The cavery looked appestising with 5 meats and a wide chiice of vegaetable. i order a starter of prawn cocktail for the black board - no prices shown. It was served in a glass too small to eat from properley with limp salad and cheap dressing - the prawns were miniscule and watery - not a good start and I left most of it.There was a long queque for the carvery and the waitresses kept cutting through the line, the carvery really needs to be moved further along the wall, before someone gets hurt. The main course was hot and with good chioce, however it felt like you were chewing on meat that losts it's flavour very quickly, and then endless chewing like card board. The place was full of regulars, so it obiviously fills a gap in the market, but I won't return.

My husband and I went in for coffees. We both left them on the table as it was too disgusting to drink. My cappuccino had an artificial saccharine taste and no coffee flavour whatsoever. It tasted like the cheap Poundland packets. It was watery, sugary, artificial tasting , cheap muck. My husband’s filter coffee was no better. It was watery and tasteless . Definitely won’t be back.
