Our third trip to the White Lion who always deliver particularly with the food. Having previously enjoyed the fish and chips, this time I found the mixed grill awesome! I would also recommend enjoying a dessert. We will of course be returning. Great music and relaxed atmosphere. My wife picks the curry every time!

Came here for their opening night of their beer festival. The pub was completely full yet the staff were still so attentive. Tried one of their pizzas which were so good! Really nice community pub!!

Visited the white lion in bramcote in December for the Steak deal! And wow what a deal it was, portion sizes were fantastic and the steak was cooked to perfection. We opted for the bottle of red which for a house was brilliant! I decided to add scampi on as an extra and I just about managed it all! Really warming atmosphere with excellent service, we will be back very soon! Highly recommend.

A lovely meal at lunch time. We chose off the small plate menu which are really good value and not actually that small! I had the veggie lasagne which was lovely. My mother in law had the ham and eggs and the egg was runny and cooked to perfection just as she requested. The pub is cosy and the staff are really friendly. Keep up the good work and we will be back in summer! Great value and lovely food

I've been coming to the White Lion (or 'The Top House', as I knew it growing up) on and off for about 20 years, and it never disappoints. Though I've seen numerous landlords come and go, this place, much like Bramcote Village in which it is situated, maintains a feeling of familiarity, along with a sense of permanence that I find very comforting. The pub itself is split into two rooms, neither of which are massive. The smaller of the two is up a couple of steps from the main room, which acts as more of a dining room. Both rooms have a bar. There is always a good selection of beers on tap, and the staff are always very pleasant. It's quite an old building and so can be a little cramped in places, especially if there is a full house in. I haven't eaten here for a while. However, whenever I have, it has always been decent. I believe it is still quite popular for diners. They also do a pub quiz here on a Sunday night. That is a lot of fun. The car park is surprisingly spacious for an old, cramped pub. It's by no means massive, but it is bigger than you'd expect, which is just as well because Bramcote Village (itself quite cramped together) offers absolutely no on-street parking. As I say, I have been coming here for many years, and I hope to come for many more yet.

Booked in for Mother’s Day lunch. Sam and the team amended the menu for us and went above and beyond to make sure we were well looked after. We will return, especially for the treacle pudding! Thanks to all at The White Lion

Excellent quaint venue with friendly and accommodating staff. I had the 18oz Rump Steak, which was good quality and well cooked. The locally sourced fruit and veg delivery arrived whilst we were there and there are a large selection of local ales. Very impressed, would absolutely recommend.

Most disappointing revolting pie I have ever eaten I still feel a bit sick this morning, was supposed to be chicken leek and ham, was expecting nice chunks in a nice sauce but it was filled with a horrible sludge more reminiscent of some kind of cat food and although I have never eaten it I suspect it tastes similar, heavy dense tasteless mush mash horrible pastry all vile. I should have complained at the time but we were being taken out by a familly member and I was hungry so I did try to eat some but i really regret it I still feel icky. The other food may be passable the chips looked ok but whatever you do if you happen to eat here don't try the pie.

Not had food since new manager. 3 meals and only 1 was good. Asked what the pie of the day was and told it was meat and potato. That could be anything! Tried it and it was like minced beef. Pastry was very dry, mashed potato hard and gravy thin and tasteless. I left it. Sausage and mash was similar with potato and gravy and sausages were awful. Burger and chips was very nice and all was eaten. Won't be returning.

We had a table for 6 friends - we haven’t been since the pandemic so pleasantly happy to see things were as good as ever. The food was really exceptional at a reasonable price and delivered with helpful enthusiasm by the staff. Clever idea to put scissors in the condiment tray to cut those pesky sachets All credit to Philip and his team - already booked again.

Lovely, olde worlde, rustic country pub. Greenking menu. We had Sunday roasts. Cooked perfectly. Generous portions and came with complimentary leek and Stilton homemade soup. Was filling, hot and very delicious. Thank you. Would have tried the caramel apple pie, but was so stuffed, I couldn't manage it 😋 definately recommend

Really love this local pub. They've got good food with rotating daily specials (daily curry, daily pie, etc.), and though the food is quite good the highlight is the beer garden. Perfectly protected from any busy road with lots of green and seating. They keep a few chickens in a coop at the back and they grow their own hops to make a beer in the Autumn and apples to make a cider in the summer. Just so much charm and character. COVID has obviously been so rough on so many places and I was seeing online that the pub has been using their kitchen to make and donate meals when we were in lockdown. Such kindness and generosity, I always feel so welcome when I visit.

Was in the area waiting with half hour to kill, nipped for a quiet pint and got charged £5 for a Birra Moretti which is bad as it is, could get over that if it was a good pint but it were flat and a bit warmas if it had just been left on a table for an hour or something… perhaps i got a pint someone else refused to pay £5 for

Been today for lunch been many times in past but what we had today can only be described as the worst pub meal ever!!! Having ordered sausage and mash for children the waitress came back to say they had no sausage it then transpires the only thing available on kids menu was pasta or steak . Two older boys had steak and two year old granddaughter had pasta. When it arrived the steak was full of blood extremely rare obviously children would not want that it was as tough as boots with undercooked chips so boys ate peas for lunch . The pasta was a tin!!!!! Of pasta shapes which retail at 55p in Tesco we were charged 4.95 for not a substantial meal at all a ton of pasta ! On complaining the waitress never spoke and walked off we waited and no one came back . Never ever would we eat there again adults had baguettes which were extremely average, disgusting and disappointing.

We visited the pub near Covent garden. The mixed platter of beef sausage gammon steak eggs with chips was tough despite we ask for medium rare. It reminds us of Jack's place in Singapore. The lamb was sweet with honey and minty usually should be savory. The English ales were light. The owner and servers were welcoming and courteous.

I 'phoned the night before asking if we would be able to bring our dog in the next evening when we came for a meal and a pint. The lady said we would, but we would have to sit in the bar. This was ok with us, so we turned up the next evening. Unfortunately the bar was full of very noisy children sitting at the tables and apparently waiting for their Christmas meal. We couldn't get a table, but even if there had been one we wouldn't have stayed. We were very disappointed as clearly this was something that had been booked, yet the lady on the 'phone hadn't mentioned a thing about it.

Accompanied my dad (85 yrs) on the railwaymen’s Christmas lunch. Quite a number of us and we all ordered at the bar as planned and ate upstairs in a private room. I was amazed at both the logistics of the meal, the efficiency of the staff and the quality of the food. There were lots of people eating and drinking downstairs, the ambience was great. If you are looking for a good old fashioned pub with good old fashioned customer service and great food, this is the place!
