The White Lion in Heptonstall is a true gem! Sandy and Reuben behind the bar are absolutely lovely and always make you feel right at home with their warm, local hospitality. And Ben, the Pub Chef, deserves a special mention—his food is hands down some of the best pub fare I've ever tasted. Every dish is crafted with care and packed with flavour. I can't recommend this place enough and will definitely be back!

Bloody brilliant food, ambiance and service!! The Sunday roast was wonderful, beef was pink and the cauliflower cheese was cheesy!! Sticky toffee pudding was exceptional :) And a fire for the man- in the middle of the British summer!! Yay

A party of seven from London took refuge here after a failed attempt to get Eurovision accommodation and tickets forced a change of plan and a stay in Hebden Bridge. We asked out Airbnb host for recommendations of local places hosting a Eurovision watch party and she suggested the White Swan. We booked by phone on the Thursday, sorted out our menu options on the Friday and were warmly welcomed on the Saturday. The food and ambience was excellent - it was very cosy, but everyone got into the spirit and the staff couldn't have been more friendly or helpful - especially when it was time to leave and we needed a cab - it is a VERY steep hill between Hebden and Heptonstall. The White Lion is a lovely, traditional pub with two rooms, a nice little beer garden, a good selection of drinks and food and a friendly team. It is well worth a visit if you are in the area. I am sure the views are probably stunning too, but we went up there in the evening so I can't comment!

The White Lion is a fantastic pub. I've been many times since I was a young lad and the landlady always remembers me. It's got everything you want from a country pub: cosiness, great beer, a roaring fire, and excellent pub food. The Sunday roast is a particular favourite. We visited the White Lion on 4 separate occasions during our recent week long stay in Heptonstall (Stag Cottage). We found the pub to be exceptionally family friendly and very welcoming. The ales we're all beautifully served especially the Timothy Taylor Landlord and Boltmaker. We also loved the music that was played during the week, having being treated to many musical delights such as Pink Floyd, Stone Roses, Led Zeppelin, Fleetwood Mac and many more. All 3 of us had a fantastic time and wouldn't hesitate to pop back in if we are ever in the area again.

I sent a message to ask if this was to be a regular closure on a Monday. Again somewhat disappointed that over a week later we still have not had a response. Moral here is don't expect it to be open when you get there if you're from "out of town".

This was my first visit to the copper cow, we were a table of 8. Between us we had 3 Sunday sharing platters and we were shocked that this came out on a standard plate with not much variety leaving 1 item per person to share. We also had 2 children’s meals which came out on plastic plates although the children are 4/8. We agreed the food was nice but we have had better, our main concern was the standard of service which was very very poor. The staff weren’t aware when we needed extra drinks and the tables needed cleaning as we were with dirty plates well after we’d finished the meal and had to ask for desert menus. I think this is due to a lack of experience and young ages of staff who were more bothered about talking amongst each other. Unfortunately I don’t think we’ll be returning to the copper cow as we know we can get better at other local bars and restaurants.
