Despite booking up weeks in advance the manager decided to give our table away to his mates claiming he didn't know we would turn up! Won't step foot in here again until he's gone.

Good for a drink, haven't ate here so not sure of the food

Been going here for a good few years and always was a bit so so. But in the last year or so it's been under new management with new staff who are 100%. The garden is beautifully kept, everything is clean and well maintained it is such a lovely area. The guys have really stepped up their game and it is now our new go to when in baldock, well done.

Sat in the garden and had a bite to eat.. Delicious.. Also good that you can take your dog in.. Chicken burger was banging!!

I experienced discrimination from a member of the staff, which was incredibly upsetting. The customer service was not only poor but also extremely rude. This behavior is unacceptable and deeply disappointing.

I had a bit of time to kill in Baldock so I decided to visit the White Lion. It was somewhere I had been a while ago. I walked in and they had a roaring fire and the chap behind the bar was welcoming. I ordered a pint of pepsi max and had to pay £4 for it. I was a bit shocked at how expensive their postmix is. The pub was very quiet but it was during the middle of the week. I would have rated them lower were it not for the nice atmosphere.

2021-2022: visited many times, always somewhere to sit inside or outside. They usually have coverings outside and there is a sheltered area too- plenty of space outside. The prices are ok- there’s cheaper and more expensive places. A good variety of things. Staff are pleasant enough. Toilets have always been clean when I’ve visited. I wasn’t in a wheelchair when I visited however I do think some areas are accessible but like with everywhere, there’s always step somewhere making it harder for people.

Good location but lazy staff. All interested in smoking outside and not working. Drugs being smoked everywhere in the garden.

£14 for one pint and a shandy. That's all I'm gonna say.

Sadly attended for a funeral wake but staff were great and put on a lovely spread of food. Decent size pub with a good size beer garden. Good range of beer.

A small, cosy, friendly and characterful boozer with decent food, a nice (and large) beer garden and occasional live music....

Drinks are too expensive £5.70 for a pint of San Miguel. This is not Richmond It's Baldock!! I would not return☹️

This is one of our local pubs, definitely the one we visit the most nowadays! Always super friendly service, the staff goes way and beyond to ensure that nothing is missing and very good food! We are particularly fans of the beef burgers and veggie burgers! The children menu is huge and always tasty and well presented! Thank you

After an unwelcome visit to George IV We ended up going to The White Lion in Baldock high street. Well, what a fantastic service we received, the food was absolutely amazing, home made and the waitresses were absolutely lovely and the staff couldn't do enough for you. What a fabulous atmosphere too with live music. The White Lion will be our preferred visit in future. Thank you so much for your hospitality, we had a wonderful time.

Based solely on the price of the beer. Staff were lovely. But I paid 6 quid for a pint of pale ale. My mate spent less on a Guinness. Unbelievable.

Our barman/waiter, Tatenda, looked after us extremely well. He very kindly organised a table big enough for four adults and three children for lunch yesterday. The menus were already waiting for us on the table when we arrived. The children aged three, five and six polished off their food with great enthusiasm. The youngest two chose mini fish and chips: one had beans as an accompaniment and the other had peas. The eldest went for the sausages, beans and chips which also disappeared completely. Lots of clean plates and happy faces made it so easy for the adults to enjoy their food too - pulled pork with chips and a falafel sandwich. The highlight for the kids (of course) was that the children's meals include not only a soft drink but most importantly of all, ice cream with 'a sauce of your choice' to finish!!! Many thanks to Nicki in the kitchen for preparing such lovely food for us all and to Tatenda for making all three generations feel relaxed and welcome.

I've always liked this pub but what an effort they've made to continue offering great service during this pandemic. Loads of sanitizing stations, marquee, paved beer garden and a grassed beer garden area. Really nice. Revisited today and still one of my favourite pubs. Happy to see Birra Moretti on draught too.

Went here on Friday night with friends. Great atmosphere . Great food- I had a chicken and bacon salad and my partner had a chicken burger- very good food. Friendly staff and great drink options.

We have just started using this pub every Sunday for lunch, today was the worst meal we've had, cold, dry, didn't get the service that we normally do, hopefully it's just a one off

Very cosy with a nice real fire. Great service and very friendly staff. Very nice lunch and would have scored a 5 if there had been a bit more filling in the chicken and bacon club sandwich!

Used to love this place. Can't put my finger on what's changed. Have no complaints about the staff or service, just seems to have lost its character. Hopefully will return to its former self soon!

In there for @ Baldstock2021 on the Friday. Watching the burlesque show etc. A good night. Absolutely rammed on the Friday and Saturday night when we nipped in for a look. Great for the pub business.

Lovely place for a drink, but felt the afternoon I was there, they were putting more effort into moving a large pot plant with a pump truck than the bar person serving a customer! Would it not be better to take orders at the table than order on your phone? By the time your order comes you have to order again.

Me and a friend came to the white lion on bank holiday Sunday obviously we wouldn’t be able to book at table as the high demand on a bank holiday we arrived and the manager who was clearly very stressed completely shut us down on arrival of asking when the next available table would be free we said we didn’t mind waiting but the vibe he gave was that he didn’t want us in I luckily saw a table leaving so asked if we could be seated he seemed very annoyed that we had spotted this so he could not turn us alway, the drinks menu had no price list we queried this and the manager said “well yeah I know” like this was normal,not very professional for buying customers, we ordered the pebble bay Californian wine which tasted like out of date watered down vinegar overpriced for £22 the chunky chips were frozen and not fully cooked and the onion rings were cold with no flavour I would not recommended coming here unless your happy to pay for rude customer service and undercooked food avoid at all costs!!

Fantastic, friendly and professional staff. Graham and his delightful team always make us feel very welcome and safe. They do their very best to please and are great fun too!

A beautiful day sun shining but would suggest they have heaters or blankets (which i know isnt easy with covid) but very pleasant staff well organised will deffo visit again

The White Lion always have lovely, friendly staff, is dog friendly, and has non gastro pub, good value food. Sadly, the Noble lager ran out after one pint, and I'm afraid the Estrella just doesn't cut it for me. It would be nice if they stocked a premium ale, too. However, I had a nice burger last night. 1 patty (kitchen made), crispy onion, cheese, and bacon. For £6 excellent. £4 for a shared cheesy chips bowl, which were lovely too. Now here's the but......My girlfriend being a non meat eater opted for the veggie burger. For £6, I can't help but say it was one of the worst things I've ever seen served up in a pub. If a mashed potato patty, with a few bits of veg added, covered with a dusting of crumb, and fried up, is considered a veggie burger, then it's day light robbery for the money. I can't help but think that although I'm sure my burger was "home made", the "veggie" burger must have been bought in, and I suspect the cost of them was probably a pound, for a box of 16. I would say, must do a lot better!!!!

Menu was limited as its near Christmas. No separate dining area so you are eating with the locals who can be drunk, loud. Food is reasonably OK n on price. Have a ramp for wheelchair access into the pub n space for wheelchair to go outside into the garden but that's it as got steps everywhere else. Toilets are dirty n wet floor so again and good for disability access at all

Brilliant place for everyone including dogs and family. Food/staff wonderful. Lovely beer garden. Completely following COVID 19 guidelines, everything is clearly marked with a one way system. Everything sanitized.

Friendly bustling pub..good selection of beers and ciders. Was packed at 7.30pm on a Saturday evening. Good to see Baldock pubs busy and well patronised.

It was 'ok' but would benefit from a gpod wipe down, tables sticky and menus filthy which was a bit off putting ! However food was fast and staff friendly balanced it out

Lovely place for just a drink or a bite to eat. I'm gluten intolerant so its handy they do gluten free options too. Plus there's a real fire burning for the colder months. Very large garden too which makes it a delight in summer. Staff are always friendly. This is one of our favourite puns in the town.

Looked after us well, food not the best

Not friendly at all. Food was okay nothing special for the price. Much better elsewhere, locally Service not good. Didn't receive everything on menu we ordered, and when we queried this we were made to feel we shouldn't have. Also poor explanation as to why our order was I'm complete. Will not be returning.

We received a warm welcome and they were extremely obliging about our dirty bikes parked in their beer garden. My ciabatta tuna melt was well filled and very hot. The side salad, although small was at least fresh.

Quite charming small town pub with panelling and low ceilings, but only sampled a small proportion of their wares.

A very busy pub with a good selection of ales. The food was reasonably price and of good quality. Staff vey friendly. Not a quiet place for a romantic meal but a very friendly place to have a meal.

This is hands down my favourite pub in Baldock. Great range of beers and gins (regularly featuring a "gin if the week") and always have a local ale. Staff are always friendly. The food is also great and they have a great range from large meals to a great sandwich menu. Definitely visit!

Super lovely staff, delicious food (buy one get one free main meals on Tuesdays!), plus decent beer and local ales on tap. Lucky to have such a brilliant local pub. Always a pleasure.

My husband had the mixed grill and I had fish and chips. Both were delicious. The fish was very good.

Great music last night, top spot for bands, beers and a great garden space

The food never disappoints, the atmosphere is lovely and there is plenty of space outside in the summer. I went recently to both eat and to enjoy Balstock and both times it was great (even saw Iron Man!) Would highly recommend!

4 of us dropped in on Sunday 11th August for lunch. Very friendly and attentive staff and the Sunday roasts appeared almost before we'd finished ordering and the two that chose other items only waited a very short while. The food was very good and reasonably priced and the surroundings are non-manufactured old English pub. We enjoyed it and will come back again.

A great traditional pub with a great atmosphere, friendly staff, nice interior and exterior areas, good food and well situated, also with late opening. Only downside is no Guinness, so have to drink something different.

Amazing beer garden and dog friendly

It's a pub. It serves beer and spirits in a pub-like atmosphere. The chips smell nice and there's a good space out the back. Beer was good, too.

Always a pleasure to visit this friendly, bustling pub. Staff are attentive and affable and the choice of wine and beer is very good indeed. Looking forward to calling in again soon.
