Used to be a great place but has recently closed down and moved to Woburn

If you want a great South African braai experience please do not go here!!! The starters were okay, biltong poor and fatty, sausage almost non existent. Children's food over cooked and poor, lamb chops were okay, baby back ribs completely inedible. No Malva pudding. Felt very sorry for the lone waitress who was very nice. Certainly never had a meal like this in South Africa!!!!!!!

Avoid this Place! I booked a table to watch the SA v Ireland game , five days prior ,only to be threatened with police action after the sound was muted while the South African anthem was playing in a South African restaurant placed in a seat with obstructed by people who don’t even know what was going on. The food is mediocre and overpriced ! If a place doesn’t understand it’s clientele is there any point of wasting your money there ?

Mid September on a Saturday. Very delicious. Went for a set lunch and my Mum had a la carte, which she thoroughly enjoyed. Lovely staff and service. South African weather in Letchworth!

Khoi Khoi hosted a brilliant night for a small work party, the staff were extremely friendly and attentive ensured we all had a great night. We had very tasty buffet with lots of options (GF/Vegi included), a great location for a gathering and will be returning!

One of the best meals I've had in a long time, service was incredible from Mike, friendly atmosphere.

Great restaurant with an awesome atmosphere. The food was really good and very well priced, we saw a live act, the Soul Man, who was brilliant. He had the crowd up and dancing all night with a really good set of songs and a great voice too. I travelled from Oxford to visit friends and see the show, I will definitely be returning to this fantastic venue. Hats off to the people running this place!

In hindsight, it was no surprise that the place wasn't very busy on a Saturday night. Uncomfortably loud music issued from a speaker in a sack near the ceiling throughout and the chairs were a bad fit for the rough wooden tables. The service was poor and slow - one waitress all eyebrows and the other looking petrified. Cutlery was in extremely short supply, seemingly issued on a need to eat basis. The soft drinks were an intriguing combination of expensive, unpalatable and unavailable. The Limpopo wings starter was really good. The lamb chops lacked their essential supporting act. Other dinners were disappointing too. We were still hungry at the end but unwilling to buy desserts as we didn't want to give them any more of our money. They had already cost us an evening that we will never get back. I had heard such good things of Khoi Khoi; which is why we went. When I look at the pictures of past Khoi Khoi dinners on here, I see that they used to do much better food than was available to us. I really think that it used to be better. Perhaps the Khoi Khoi spirit has been broken. I should just have gone sooner. Don't go now, you've missed the sweet spot.

Visited with my wife for pre theatre meal. I had the ribs which were not the best or worse I’ve had. Service from staff excellent and would be enough to try again with something different in the menu.

Great service, great food and drink choices. The manager also listened to our request to have the tv turned down as a few people where watching football.

I don't think the food or menu is great. I think it's a SA resturant that suits the local people in LGV. It doesn't have the variety I was expecting.

Very friendly, and decent food at mid market prices. Its not common to find a South African restaurant so well worth a visit. Popped in for lunch with my dad. I think the most important thing I noticed here was how friendly the staff were. From the moment we arrived the staff made us feel important and more importantly for me… looked after my elderly dad. We were given seating and ordering advice aimed at making dads visit easy and enjoyable. We both ordered the ribs. When it arrived - i was a bit worried because the barbecue sauce looked a bit congealed. I was wrong. It was very nice and the meat fell off the bone beautifully. It was a lunch so I just had a glass of red. As a result, I can’t comment on the wine list. Mine glass okay, but wine by the glass rarely hits you between the eyes does it. Lunch time was quiet but judging by the decor and the cocktail list I’d be surprised if its not a really great place in the evening. I’d certainly give it a try if i was local enough. Value wasn’t bad. It certainly isn’t cheap but I didn’t feel I had overpaid. I reckon the people make this place

From the start the service was remarkable. The young man that interacted with us was genuine, friendly and had excellent knowledge of the menu and wines and beers. This kind of service is hard to find. Visited from oversees and our second visit we brought visiting friends from Oz who were likewise impressed. We have more oversees visitors touching base with us and will be returning here to KHOI KHOI to impress them too. Highly recommended. Divine food. David and Mihi

Their van cut me up and was driving around Letchworth like a crazy person. AVOID!!

The spare ribs were cooked to perfection The meat just fell off the bone.

We ordered chicken burger and beef burgers they were OMG amazing as a delivery order to Baldock came within 10 mins and hot, I’m not a burger eater but ordered one absolutely delicious thank u food was delicious

Food was very disappointing this time. Baby ribs usually so tender and fall off the bone, was the best ribs we ever had but this time full of grissle and fat.

We were there in Letchworth looking for an early dinner and thought Khoi Khoi looked interesting - it was not very busy but we found the food very different and tasty - would recommend the burger - staff were very friendly and attentive and we plan a return visit when it is busier to get a better sense of the atmosphere.

Came across this place while walking around Letchworth and popped in for a bit of lunch. The restaurant was quiet but they served excellent food and beer. My chops were very tasty and my wife loved the bobotie. Will definitely come back again when we are next in the Uk.

A family celebration for 6 but we were very disappointed. Limited menu and a number of choices were not available similarly with lager and wine even though they were on drinks list. Service was quite good but food presentation left a lot to be desired. The music, entertainment was very good.

First time visiting and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves at the Khoi Khoi restaurant. Nice South African decor and atmosphere plus delicious food and wine and good friendly staff. I ordered the Vegan Bobotie and was very happy with my choice, the only disappointment was tgat they didn't have the vegan desert available! Hoping to return again soon hopefully on a weekend evening when we heard that there's live music 😀

We had a really lovely evening at Khoi Khoi. The food was absolutely stunning - the swordfish was so delicious, and the Peri Peri chicken just fell off the bone. There’s a great choice of authentic dishes, in a warm and cosy environment. And first class treatment from the staff - really helpful and friendly. Don’t miss the South African cocktails and beers, too! We can’t wait to come back, and bring friends.

The lamb chops wasn't cook properly! I ask for well done , the meat inside was pink ! The waitresses didn't come to us, ask how is the food ;( On the bill putting discount on wrong dish. Unprofessional customer service and bad experience! Plus this we was just one customer there, the lady ignore us! Feeling like we are disappeared!!! Dont recommend!

I took advantage of the £9.50 lunch deal here yesterday. I had the Boerie roll, which came with chips and a soft drink. It was excellent. Very good quality, nicely filling, and very good value. I've had dinner here previously, and takeaway too, and it's always been good. The service is very good too. Very friendly and relaxed.

An excellent evening of fine dining with fine wines in the great company of Khoi Khoi and the Wee Vinoteca. What a great idea to have a tasting of three first rate South African dishes, combined with a carefully chosen mix of five excellent South African wines. This is exactly the sort of event we enjoy, fun, filling and interesting. Rumi was the perfect host for the venue and Dom expertly and interestingly described the different superb wines. It’s really good to see two such great businesses perfectly combining to put on such and excellent event. Thank you so much, please give us more of the same!!

Been there this evening for our anniversary, was in fact and blown away by the remarkable customer service and food quality both members of staff did an amazing job serving and bringing food with a massive smile as well as checking in on us here and there, the food was outstanding yet again and will be returning soon 10/10 would highly recommend!!

Not sure what can I say.. a little bit lika a meat market for folk over 50 years.. I do understand certain places must be like this.. but it is nothing for me

We visited Khoi Khoi bar with friends wanting to try something different and to support an independent local business.. We’d booked a table and were seated promptly but the waiter started by reeling off a long list of the things they didn’t have - not the best start! For a South African restaurant, there was a distinct lack of decent South African wines on the drinks menu. There was no cider in stock. It’s a modest menu (great because I find huge menus off putting). The sharers we had to start came quickly and we’re really nice, but it then took over an hour before our mains arrived. By this point the wait staff seemed to avoid us and we had to go to the bar to ask for service. The ‘live music’ started at 9:30. Honestly, the guy singing was tone deaf and the music was depressing. It was amusing initially, but then grated really quickly. We left at 9:50 with no dessert - they didn’t have koeksisters anyway! At over £200 including service, Khoi Khoi just didn’t cut it. We won’t be returning.

Went for lunch with a few friends and all said that the food was delicious. Some of the best ribs I've had and the burger and chicken were also highly recommended.

We went to Khoi Khoi for my husbans birthday. We had been meaning to go for a while, so we were looking forward to it. It definitely didn't disappoint, the food was amazing, especially the halloumi fries . The peri peri sauce on it was nothing like i have tasted before. The cocktails were lovely and going down very well! The staff were vetry attentive and even made us cocktails that weren't on the menu. All in all a very enjoyable experience in a beautiful restaurant. I know they also have evenings with live music so we will be going back to experience that. I highly recccomended Khoi khoi, looking forward to going back. Thank you

My chicken burger was good but my wife ordered lamb chops which were not supposed to be spicy but instead she could hardly eat them. It was middle of the week so atmosphere was a bit flat. Could consider returning but will think hard before I do that.

We came to see the Dualers perform. I'd booked a table for their last performance here in July and was informed, then, that I could only reserve a table if I was eating beforehand. We walked into an almost empty place so was shocked to find our table was in the furthest corner with a pillar blocking the view of the stage! I insisted that we be moved onto the platform. We were only a handful of people who were eating there beforehand and I noticed that they seemed shocked by their table placements too. The service we received from the serving staff was attentive and friendly and as we'd been moved to where I expected to be seated we then went on to have an enjoyable evening. Fast forward to October and I receive an email from the khoi khoi informing me of the return of the Dualers. Using my prior knowledge I then promptly reserved a table adding exactly which table I would like. I then emailed the khoi to reiterate my request. A lady phoned me to confirm my booking and I also received an email confirmation from the online booking system. Great, I have 2 confirmations of my booking at the requested table on the platform next to the stage 😁 Upon arrival we were greeted by the same man who'd been at the door on our last visit. He took us to our table which was by the door. I showed the emails showing where I'd requested. He informed me that the tables on the platform had all been booked at the last performance in July. He offered to move us to another table right by the bar with no view of the stage. We refused and asked why I'd not been informed of these previous bookings when the lady phoned me. He had no further interest and walked away. Melissa and all the other serving staff were attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. When the Dualers arrived they erected a speaker which blocked the view of them from our table 🤦‍♀️ I'm a friendly, chatty person so when I met one the people who were sat on the platform in the seats that I'd booked I asked her when she'd booked her table... she'd booked it that morning hmm 🤔 I'm sure it must have been booked in July as I'm sure the man who seated us wouldn't have lied to us so maybe they'd had a last minute cancellation 😏 and it was only a table for 2. I then got chatting with one of the gentlemen who were seated at the table I'd requested and asked him when he'd booked his table. 3 weeks ago was his reply. Worth noting is that I'd been told that I could only reserve a table if I was eating beforehand. Neither of the two parties I spoke to had eaten beforehand. Was there really no other alternative than to lie to me 🤔 when in all probability I'm going to find that out🤷‍♀️ but then he'd left by that time so why would he care 😏

We arrived at 8.10pm for a booking for 8.15pm and had ordered by 8.30pm due to the limited selection of mains available. It was a birthday dinner for a friend who frequents Khoi Khoi regularly. I had flown in from Australia and they had tickets...

Had such a lovely meal out waitress was Melissa and she was very good, service was good answered all the questions we had about the different dishes as this was our 1st visit was friendly and made us feel very welcome. The food was delicious, the halloumi fries for starters were delicious and so big I then had the Oxtail hot pot the meat was melt in the mouth good, the ladies both had chicken which was well cooked and so juicy my friend had the lamb and again so well cooked, the ladies didn't want desert so only the boys did and as we couldn't make up our minds we went with all 4 just for a try and again we were not disappointed. Well worth a visit and we will be back soon thank you for a lovely evening

Awesome service and such tasty food

We were visiting Letchworth and looking to go go out for a meal somewhere nice for our family gathering and got recommended this lovely place. Food was super delicious and fresh. My favourite was the grilled swordfish paired with chilled glass of South African Sav blanc and the home made malva pudding. We even had extra pudding as a takeaway. Our new favourite place - will be back on our next visit

Lovely place for a drink any time of day or evening. Tried the steak on their offer deal but was pretty disappointing considering it is what the chef does best according to their website.

Average variety of drinks. Decor is along an African theme and is quite good. Staff are friendly and clientele are decent and mainly middle aged party goers.

Popped in for a last minute reservation. I had vegan bobotie and yellow rice and partner had lamb chop. Both dishes were amazing! Really enjoyed them and they were cooked well. Pudding was fab as well. Nice to see a different cuisine on offer and it doesn't disappoint. The atmosphere was nice and I could tell it was building up for a nice fun evening of music. It doesn't distract from the restaurant though. Staff were helpful and any questions they couldn't answer about the food, they checked with the chef!

I went for the live music but the sound is not good at all. I just enjoy a glass of wine because nothing for really in the menu to my taste.

Thank you for another lovely meal today. We were celebrating my parents 57th wedding anniversary and we were not disappointed! I had told them how good the lamb chops were and they really enjoyed them. Air conditioning a well appreciated bonus too 🙂.

If you live in Letchworth or anywhere close by, you should definitely make it a point to visit khoi khoi. It's been a while since I had a really good flavoursome meal! Everything was just fabulous, the food, decor, ambiance, service.... Jamie did a great job serving us (Thank you). There's a new chef from South Africa and the menu is African inspired.... so you can trust that its going to be mouth watering and bursting with flavour. They have both an indoor and outdoor sitting area. We went for lunch but we were told that they also have live music in the evenings. Looks like a great place for your next date:). They currently have a 50% discount on the small plates and Big plates menu. Their drinks menu is filled with South African drinks . Make sure you order the Biltong too, its the best we've ever had! I highly recommend this place.
