The White Horse in Kettering

We stayed the night at the pub . They have rooms outside of the pub which are cosy and beautifully decorated and warm . Yummy mini shortbreads to have with a cuppa too . We ate at the pub which was lovely quality food and desserts were gorgeous . The staff were so lovely and helpful and couldn’t do enough for you . We had a lovely breakfast with plenty of choice in their beautiful dining room . I would highly recommend this place for a couples night away x Mr & Mrs sheppard

Originally chose The White Horse as a convenient place to meet family from around the country rather than anything else. We hoped that it would be a good place to stay for a few days and have lunch. Once there we soon realised that we had made a fantastic choice. Check in was simple and quick, fresh milk in a flask was offered for our room and we were taken to it rather than just given the keys. The rooms are situated in a separate small block. The room whilst compact was comfy with everything one would expect from a high quality establishment. Our meal on Friday night was cooked to perfection as were all the breakfasts. Ten of us sat down for lunch on the Sunday and everybody was highly complementary about their choices on main courses. For sweet the baked cheesecake in particular had a massive thumbs up from all of us who chose it. The entire team went out of their way to look after us with a smile on their faces all of the time. We are already looking for an excuse to return. Enough said!

Warm welcome and polite staff in a bust, but not rowdy, bar. Food as good as always at a reasonable price, served quite quickly.

As usual a lovely warm welcome into a superb country pub. Great selection of well kept beers, lagers and ciders plus a comprehensive wine list. The food was excellent, obviously the usual Sunday roast, with our table sampling the belly pork, lamb and beef (cooked pink and in my opinion perfection), plus the cod and prawn pappardelle. I must also mention the starters, I can’t resist the tempura chicken, so glad it’s still on the menu, good old whitebait and arancini, nice to have a variety of pub classics plus something a bit different. This pub and its loyal staff never fails to deliver on service and quality.

Two couples had an evening meal. The service was very good. Nice surroundings. Good selection of beers. Great choice on the menu. to suit any diner. The food was excellent. Not the usual mediocre overpriced pub grub you get in other places. Couldn’t fault anything. Well worth a visit

It is not often I rate an establishment as 5* but it’s always good to do so. Even more - to be unable to find any area of adverse criticism during our stay is rare indeed. Admittedly we were only there for one night but I did look quite hard! Everything worked smoothly with our booking direct with the pub. On arrival we were shown to our room in a friendly relaxed way. Our reservation for dinner was confirmed. Many times where we have stayed at a pub with rooms the standards have been ‘acceptable’ at best. At the White Horse the rooms are in a separate block adjacent to the pub. Our unit was #1 and the standard was exceptional. Immaculately clean and designed to make use of every inch of space available without feeling cramped. Not disturbed by noise from the pub. Two desks in the room was a luxury as were the quality bathroom toiletries. The ‘chef’s biscuits’ were a nice touch. Double sized shower and plenty of space in the bathroom too. Comfortable beds. A free standing electric fan a nice touch for warm nights. All the staff we came across during our short stay were helpful and actually seemed to enjoy being there and with time to spend talking to customers which is not always seen these days. At dinner our table was ready and the bar service friendly and efficient. The table staff were first class with their relaxed professional service. Our food was well cooked and attractively presented. The wine list was interesting and attractively priced. Our room including breakfast (excellent) was a very reasonable £135. During our stay we noticed that the owners were in evidence, seemingly keeping an eye on things. One way for standards to slip in a hotel setting is lack of training, encouragement and supervision. None seem to be lacking here. Another is for small maintenance issues to be missed or left to get worse. All the decor was tateful and everything worked as it should. It’s unlikely that we will be in that part of the country again but if we we were to be we should certainly stay there again.

Excellent meal here today. Staff we excellent, attentive and honest. The food was fresh and delicious! Lovely finds d a great Xmas present from our family!. It was our anniversary meal and even though in pub side was a lovely setting. Recommend

This place always delivers; so many establishments like this are merely cash cows for the owners but, every time we visit the White Horse, new investment has been made in the property. The food is fab, but its the staff who really make it - especially Vicki who is a hospitality goddess. Thank you to everyone...

Thanks so Much to everyone at the White Horse. Me and Wife Booked a Overnight stay. Also we enjoyed a Fantastic 3 course Meal in the Restaurant the Food was the Best we've ever Tasted all the Staff was very attentive. The Room was great and a Good size very Clean and everything you needed Lovely Shower. In the Morning we both had a Fabulous Breakfast what more Could you want on Stop Over so well Done everyone we shall Definitely be Returning soon Gary and Pauline who stopped in Room 2 on the 15th November.

Waited an hour from the time the table was reserved to getting the food. When it arrived the vegetables and mushrooms were cold along with the outside of my chicken. Food was sent back. When i told the time it would take to cook the meal again, I said not to bother. My party was offered no apology or complimentary drinks. It was clear the pub was too busy for the inadequate chief produce / reheat food or the staff to wait on tables. Very expensive for what is on offer - restaurant prices for poor pub food.

Very cosy & comfortable stay, the room was beautiful and very clean and pleasant. The pub was very cosy and staff were excellent. Dinner in the restaurant was fabulous 3 course meal was superb and service was great. Breakfast was also as good as dinner. Highly recommend this stay and we shall definitely return in the future.

We only discovered this pub recently but it definitely does the best roast dinners in the area!! The White Horse is a perfect place for a relaxed lunch in a cosy setting.

The food is always very good here and we have been a good few times now so it must be good! On the most recent visit, we felt the service was less good! We ordered a drink but it didn’t arrive so we reminded our waitress and it came eventually! It happens and you can’t fault the friendliness of the staff. The restaurant has had redecoration since we were last there and it looks better with more comfortable chairs too! Still good!

I love this place. Great, great food, cosy atmosphere and Dan, the lovely, friendly bar person. When we're late home and can't be bothered to cook, this is the place to come. Its cosy, clean and homely. Tonight I had the Risotto with mushroom, black garlic, truffle oil and garlic bread. Very tasty, well presented and filling. OH went for the burger. He was very happy and it almost beat him...almost! So happy this place is so close.

We visited for breakfast at 9am today. My daughter and I were out for a drive and spotted this little gem of a pub. We were greeted at the door and shown to our seat near the bar.... The lady gave us a choice of where to sit. After a short wait of about 10 minutes, our breakfasts arrived. On first glance my large breakfast didn't look large but it was large enough! My food looked like a work of art, beautifully presented and lovely taste too, perhaps the nicest full English breakfast I have had in many a year..... Even the tea I ordered was nice. The staff were lovely and the lady who took our order told us a bit about the pub.... Built in 1703 and had an extension etc... All interesting information too. The pub really looks the part externally and internally and although I am a TripAdvisor veteran of over 2000 reviews, this pub could be Michelin starred it was that good. A highly recommended cracker of a pub which I will visit again for certain. Superb. Visited 15th April 2023. Large car park to the rear Quality menu with food that you could say was a little more expensive than normal but really worth it.

A spoilt Mother! Rather than go out for Mother’s Day lunch we opted for a meal the night before- purely by recommendation. I loved every minute, car park almost full at 7pm but we found a spot, lots of guys in bar watching the rugby, how nice to find a village pub that still had a proper casual bar, I pre booked a table by the log burner in the old cottage style second bar for a meal although there is also a lovely trendy restaurant just a few steps up, well it was a treat from start to finish, delightful lady behind the bar, all staff were lovely, meal such good value and a menu to suit all tastes, I think this may be my new local 👍 thank you all at The White Horse - well recommended.

We have eaten here on a few occasions and last night did not disappoint. It was my 69 birthday and together with two friends the four of us had a superb meal only made more enjoyable with the excellent service which was attentive but not overbearing. It’s been some months since we last came here so were pleased to return for lunch. It was every bit as good as we remembered - this really is first rate. We have been on our own, with friends and with family and have never been let down! Lunch, Sunday lunch or dinner makes no difference- the standard of food and service is always superb.

We were looking for somewhere nice as we had visitors coming from London. We tried the restarant on our own on a separte occassion . We were so impressed we booked up straight away to bring our friends. As per our previous visit was lovely food, excellent service and lovely attentive staff. We will definitely be paying a few more visits. Thank you for your excellent service..

OH and I decided at the last minute to eat out and booked our local favourite. There's a new menu with lots of choice and lots of veggie / vegan mains and specials so it took me a while to decide! I wanted a great glass of red and Daniel recommended the Neropasso, a new wine to the list. Absolutely delicious. So good, I had more than 1. 😁 My baked feta was so tasty with a great kick of chilli. Roasted veg pie with truffle mash and plenty of veg. Great pie, full of sweet potato, butternut squash and onion and slightly sweet with cinnamon. My OH thoroughly enjoyed his Tempura Chicken followed by slow cooked pork belly with black pudding and calvados apple puree. We felt really looked after by Daniel and the team. Great evening and thoroughly recommend 👌

Visited Dec 31st for a meal and overnight accommodation to celebrate my wife's birthday. We were greeted by a very polite and helpful member of staff who showed us to our room, which was excellent. The evening was amazing with staff attention to detail and a terrific meal. Breakfast was just as terrific as our whole visit. Cannot praise this place enough and will definitely visit again soon. Visited this pub with a group of friends. The food was very good and tasty. The only problem was that I ordered the steamed syrup sponge for pudding. This was very tasty but there was one very large problem. It was the smallest pudding I have ever seen. I would describe it as having been cooked in a large thimble. There was less than two mouthfuls, in fact I had more custard, sorry, creme anglais, than pudding. I would not have minded so much if everyone else's pud hadn't been about five times the size of mine. When I suggested the pud might well make it into the Guinness Book of Records as the world's smallest, and most expensive at £6.00 a spoonful, I was only asked '' did you not like it then? '' Nice place but the chef needs his, or her, knuckles rapped for daring to serve it. As a result I will not be visiting there again.

If you are a dog owner I would recommend you give this pub a miss. I have been a regular for a while now, using for drinks several times a week and for lunch and dinner many times a month. Was deeply embarrassed and disappointed by the attitude of the owner today regarding dogs. Couple of dogs saying a brief "hello" to each other OUTSIDE resulted in the owner commenting the Sundays was basically just for people having lunch. Fair enough, i respect and appreciate people wanting to enjoy a quiet Sunday lunch, but this is also a local village country pub. The attitude of the owner left me feeling unwelcome. Will not be returning. If my dog is not welcome neither am I.

Excellent food, friendly staff and picturesque location. Visited with 2 friends for lunch and we all agreed it was the best meal we have tasted in a long time.

The Sunday Lunch we have just had was great with great service and a wood burner fire adds o the atmosphere of the Pub. The even have a pool table to keep the children amused.

I would highly recommended the White Horse. We booked a table for 8 for a birthday meal on Saturday evening. 10 of us arrived and the staff happily accommodated the extra people. The food was excellent. We all had different things and everybody was equally enthusiastic about their choices. The staff were attentive and professional. It was busy with other diners but we wouldn’t have known from the great service we received. All in all an excellent evening was had by all.

Last night I went, with four friends to The White Horse for our annual Christmas get together. We had ore ordered our Christmas meal a few weeks earlier, three courses £25.

A beautiful country pub, we had great food and seated by the roaring fire. Can’t fault the experience. I just wish it was down the road from where we live in Sweden.

If you are looking for a comfortable environment, ambiant surroundings and warm welcome its all here. There is also a great choice of ales, some of which are local. The food is great and arrives in a timely manner however if you are vegetarian, there isn't too much to pick from on a rather meaty menu. No complaints, everything was fine, but with only one special veggie meal on the board, if you didn't want it, then they was little else than the margarita pizza. It was lovely and presented well. The gourmet chips were delicious!

We arrived at 8pm on Saturday night 20th October and stayed overnight leaving after breakfast the following day. Polite and friendly staff at all times served us a good evening meal soon after checking in from a menu offering plenty of choice. Standard of food including breakfast was above average and good value for money. The bedroom accommodation in a chalet style adjoining building was very well appointed, comfortable and spotlessly clean. In summary a first class place to stay offering a good standard of accommodation at a popular pub serving good food at sensible prices. A pleasing experience from time of arrival to departure.

I have taken friends here on a couple of occasions this summer and it has been a very tasty experience! We are not so keen on the bar area as there are often 4x4 experience tours speaking about torque and horsepower in loud decibels, but the restaurant is lovely.

Friendly bar staff. Was pleasantly surprised to be told it was table service - and was impressed when the pre-dinner drinks I ordered at the bar were added to the table without messing about with opening a tab or pre-authorising.

Visited with 2 grandchildren for Sunday lunch. Had a wide selection of meals from the lunch menu, generous servings with large selection of vegetables. All four of us enjoyed what we had chosen. Sweets were super. Waiting staff very attentive and good service.

Myself and my husband went to The White Horse on Saturday night wanting dinner however we had not booked. They had a wedding on and looked extremely busy, however I was reassured by the waitress if we took a seat and got a drink we would be seated as soon as possible. We dubiously got drinks and sat in the bar and to be honest we expected we would be forgotten about given how packed the bar and restaurant was, as it often the case in busy pubs.

Went for dinner and booked very last minute, they had a wedding on and we were able to get a table, the food was fantastic lovely fresh large cod and homemade chunky chips was sooo tasty and full! I went there the last night of my trip and I want to go back!!! The place is nicely decorated and very modern, lots of parking at the back, it was full when we went but there was a wedding and the area is quiet so we were able to park on the road. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Booked a table for 14 people after a lovely walk around the surrounding countryside. We emailed them a few times asking for a menu, so we could pre-book our meals for 1pm. Sadly they didn't send a menu. This when we arrived caused a 50 minute delay to having our meals as they also had a packed pub eating.

My sister and her family had our son to stay recently while we were on a city break to Krakow. We chose to thank them by treating them to Sunday lunch at the White Horse. We booked a table for 7 @ 1.30. The dining area was busy which resulted in a good ambience. Service was not affected by the number of people dining and was efficient and friendly. We ordered starters and main courses with only the 3 youngest members of our party managing to eat dessert too. All the food and drinks we enjoyed were excellent. Well done to all at the White Horse.

We took a trip out to the farm shop in Ashley and then popped to the White Horse for lunch. We were not disappointed!

So, you can go to any local pub restaurant, there are plenty of them and the fayre and prices are much of a one, you know the stuff, a burger, steak, gammon etc but you have those 'go to' places where the food is different and the quality is unquestioned.

What a wonderful meal we had, the food was amazing, from the fish starters, through to the pork, and chicken. The staff were extremely helpful and very patient as we had are elderly parents with us. A very cosy atmosphere in the bar with the log burning going. Highly Recommendable.

Awful awful as per the words of my 9 year old.... it’s disgusting!! Had to order food for my 9 year of the main menu as the kids menu is aimed at 5 year olds, so had to pay 14.00 for gammon and egg etc that was actually just a lump of fat, the bit of meat that you could eat was chewy, the egg came with a load of pepper on the top which my 9 year hates pepper. Good job they are not allergic to it. My meal was no better with the curry beginning describe as a madras!!! Not ever have I eaten something thats NOT MADRAS. Need to get a better “child’s “ menu to start with

We called in for lunch on our way from Market Harborough to Stamford. It was quiet and we enjoyed a warm welcome from the staff. We chose bar food and had a wide choice. There was something for everyone. The portions were generous and tasty. Service was prompt. We thought it was good value if you have a big appetite. Perhaps consider a light meal or starter if you are not too hungry.

Despite restaurant not being very busy, the food was served over an hour after being ordered. Unfortunately it was also a poor quality.

... with a cozy fireplace. We were ravenous, after a 3-hour off-roading session at the Land Rover Experience East of England, and this was just the lunch and atmosphere we wanted. Stacey, who took care of our orders, was lovely and the food was good, which we enjoyed in the snugness of this clean and relaxed pub. Plus we struck a friendly conversation with our neighbouring diners, who were also lovely. All in all, a sweet wind-down of our afternoon. We went for a meal on Friday with family members who had not been to our local before. I’m glad to say that it lived up to my enthusiastic recommendations. All our meals were excellent as was the wine. Looking forward to our next visit

Looking for hotels in the Corby Area for the 16th January most were sold out or in excess of a £100. Found this place for £75 b&b; and thought.... well it’s only one night.. it’l do... WHAT A FIND... the oriental vegetable soup... Stunning, the curry .... beautiful... The room, warm, welcoming and spotless. The pub has a lovely character, the staff are warm and friendly and couldn’t be more helpful. Ten out of ten for everything. It certainly wasn’t a problem for me but the walls between the rooms are a bit thin, so if you did have someone noisy next door there could be an issue. However there were people either side of me last night and I had no problem.

Stopped for lunch and enjoyed a very juicy burger whilst my wife had fish and chips which also looked and tasted good. Good, friendly service too.

The food was plentiful and well cooked and presented it's just a shame it was all luke warm and not hot. The service was good and the waitress was attentive and helpful.
