We have visited the white horse before but had been served by a young lady. Although I cannot fault the food which was delicious and well portioned, we experienced awful customer service. The gentleman on the bar did not greet us, pointed to an empty table for us to sit and muttered under his breath when we sat down. He was rude and dismissive the whole time, he barely spoke. My husband attempted to make conversation as we were ordering our meals but he wasn't at all interested. The young lady in the kitchen was much better conversation, maybe she should be serving with the customers instead. Unfortunately we won't be returning, such a shame as it is a wonderful county pub.

If you stay close to Salisbury, make sure to stop by at the White Horse for a truly amazing and authentic Pub experience. Had dinner with the whole family and had a great evening! Strongly recommended!

Under new ownership. Sadly not an improvement. Menu is underwhelming. The scampi isn't real but an unpleasant preformed item. Such a shame as it's a lovely setting.

We ordered a lager and an individual Prosecco and it was £15.50. Seems high to me and we drink at various pubs/restaurants all over the country when away for work.

Excellent large steak. Chips and salad cooked and made to perfection. We only live a short drive away but never seem to stop by as it is not on the main roads but we will certainly be returning. Very child friendly and well prepared with a proper high chair, books and coloring stuff. Thank you.

Me and my friends thought we pop in for a drink, beautiful pub however straight away we got nothing but attitude from the bar staff. We sat outside which admittedly their was many signs to no smoking or vaping however i was in conversation and it slipped my thought. Management came out and threatened to smash my belongings, whilst swearing and aggressively pointing at me. I do not recommend Absouletly appalling way to speak to a customer.

Met family here for Sunday lunch. Whilst the service was good sadly the roast wasn’t. Pretty sure most of it was frozen food. Beef was tender but had a taste of pressure cooked meat not roasted. One piece of carrot and one piece of parsnip. Spoonful of greens. Awful tasting sausage in fatty bacon. Frozen potatoes and Yorkshire. Gravy thin and tasteless. Gave 2 stars only because of the service but wouldn’t give any stars for the food. We’re not fussy eaters at all and ate it but at £16.50pp I expected much better. Will not return,

Lovely village pub serving traditional pub food. Not an extensive menu but a good choice of meals. Avocado and prawn starter was really good, perhaps bread and butter would have been nice, then cod, chips and mushy peas with a good pot of tartar sauce on the side, the chips were homemade and were really good and excellent batter on the fish. Good choice of real ales and lovely New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc, absolute winner. The staff were cheerful and friendly, the chef collected our plates and asked if everything was ok which is very rare these days. On each end of the bar fresh roses, rarely see fresh flowers in a pub they looked beautiful. Its these little things that customers will remember and I feel are so important in the hospitality industry. Overall really pleasant experience and would highly recommend and we will be returning.

Went back for lunch today (Sat). The food was Amazing. Scampi, chips and peas, brownie & chocolate sauce. My husband had beef casserole and fresh veg and bread followed by cherry and almond tart with cherry sauce. Lovely ambiance friendly staff and just a great place to go, thank you Have included last weeks two roasts and desserts.

Sunday lunch was fabulous. There were 5 of us and 4 dogs and we were staying locally so found this pub by chance and so glad we did. Roast dinners were tasty and lots of meat and veg. Had sticky toffee pudding for afters. Friendly and welcoming and treats for the dogs. Would definitely recommend 👍

We had Sunday lunch at the White Horse. The pub is lovely as are the staff. The vegetarian nut loaf was fantastic, probably as the chef is a vegetarian. Plus I had the lamb which was beautifully soft and suckulent. The veggies were great. Perfect roasties. Topped of with fantastic desserts. Really recommend it as a great place for a Sunday roast.

Thanks for making the village pub a family friendly pub again. Now it gives us more reason to go often. Thanks for the lovely food and service and things to keep our little one entertained. We will definitely recommend!

Our first visit to our 'local' since the new owners have been in charge. My fish and chips were exceptional. The batter was crisp and light and good potatoes wedges making a change from chips. All homemade as was the tartar sauce. My husband had the Hunters chicken, again, homemade tender and delicious. We look forward to more meals and wish them the very best of luck in their new venture.

We stumbled across this pub after trying to find parking in Salisbury centre for 45 minutes on a Saturday lunchtime. We were meeting friends halfway and had been driving almost 2 hours by this point. We were so glad to find parking as we had a baby with us! I went in and asked if they could organise a table with room full for prams and a highchair. They organised this straight away. The service was fantastic! They even provided a colouring book and crayons for my friend’s daughter. The food was good and very reasonably priced. Would definitely return when we’re next in the area. Thank you again! 🙂

New management taken over they are open every day 11-11 except Sunday 12-10.30. Food served 12-2.23 & 6-8.30 every day.excellent roast dinners on Sunday we had to wait for a table to become free.

They do a special Thursday Club lunch for seniors -GBP 7.95 for your main and GBP 4.95 for desert .The special menu was comprehensive with a good choice to include a roast and a traditional steak pie .Food was delicious and portions were generous .Best value for money we have had in the UK .

Great pub with delicious food. We stayed in Salisbury and were looking for a good local pub for our dinner. The pub is cozy, full of locals, the staff is friendly, the food is really tasty and the prices are fair. If we are in the area again, we will be happy to come back.

Had an amazing lunch here today with my friends. We highly recommend The White Horse it was a lucky find for us ! It has a nice atmosphere and good service but the food was superb and well worth a visit !

This pub is on our doorstep and we have had drinks in there a few times but never eaten there. Booked for Sunday lunch and it was absolutely faultless. Food cooked to perfection. Piping hot, excellent variety of vegetables. Friendly staff. Will definitely go again and recommend to friends and family.

At the suggestion of our innkeeper in Salisbury, we enjoyed a delightful dinner at the White Horse in nearby Quidhampton. The decor is that of a lovely upscale pub, with a low sound level. The food and drink were terrific, although as an American the scampi that I enjoyed were not what I expected but more like shrimp croquettes- still delicious. My husband loved his meal of lamb shank, a special that evening. It was the perfect relaxed meal for our first night in Salisbury.

Have enjoyed in the past lunching at The White Horse, but yesterday's experience was completely different, the waiter was very grummy from the start, my daughter decided on baked potato with beans and cheese as we had the menu open on this page I just order the one with prawn cocktail, when it arrived mine was just a prawn cocktail starter ,so I said oh I wanted the jacket potato with prawns and salad he then made me feel like a naughty school kid shouting back you said prawn cocktail, I just said ok ,but surely he could have just said can I change it for you, but no get on with it. Sorry to say that is my last visit and will not be recommending it any more .As we entered there was a notice for staff, this is needed otherwise they will loose all of there customers not just us and our friends.

This place was horrible to be at wasn't made to feel welcome..the owners are rude,didn't feel comfortable atal..made to feel like we wasn't welcome..asked about food and was told oh no its 3pm on a sunday no more food 😳 awful service and manners!!!!

Fabulous and huge T bone steak following whitebait starter cooked to perfection - washed down with London Pride and a couple of glasses of Malbec. Excellent quality served in warm and friendly atmosphere of this cosy local pub.

Really a 4.5 Very good food and portions. Village pub,ideal middle ground to meet family,went on a Friday lunch time. Excellent deserts. Only slight down side is that we felt cold,sit near the fire if you can.xx

I recently had Sunday lunch at the White Horse and it was an excellent experience. The food was delicious, with a wide variety of options to choose from. The setting was beautiful, with a lovely outdoor area to enjoy the meal. The service was also top notch. Our waitress, Bella, was friendly and attentive, making sure that we had everything we needed throughout our meal. I highly recommend the White Horse for anyone looking for a great place to have Sunday lunch. The food, setting, and service were all excellent and I will definitely be back.

I have been here several times and never had a bad experience. The location is quiet. The staff are happy, courteous and helpful. There is great ambiance inside where it is always clean. Two open fire places give a homely and intimate feel. The food is simply delightful, locally sourced and perfectly cooked. The pies are actually proper, short crust pies, the Sunday lunches are great as well. Every meal has decent portions and the deserts are the same quality. All the mains have been served with beautifully cooked veg and all the meals left little room for a courtesy after dinner mint! Nothing seems to be too much trouble either, even decanting what could not fit in our stomachs into takeaway containers thus eliminating food waste and giving me a fighting chance to fit in a desert! They did not even have a problem accommodating us for a large family gathering celebrating an engagement (given sufficient notice of course). I personally cannot recommend this establishment enough and have often told friends how great this pub is. It is definitely NOT a run-of-the-mill pub that does food on the side. The only thing that stops me frequenting this establishment more often is fear for my waistline!

Accidentally discovered this lovely village pub, when we turned off the main road to Wilton. What a great find! Very comfortable and welcoming, and our lunch was lovely. Would recommend. 👍😎

Always a treat to visit this pub, I only get to go when I visit my grandparents with my dad. They're very kind and friendly staff and understand how my grandmother can be at times. would give 10 stars if I could. The food is incredible, The chef always stuns me with his new menu options and deliciously well prepared British classics. Its usually quite quiet due to its location but they have an incredibly wide selection of meals and desserts to choose from that changes seasonally from my experience. Friendly bar staff who welcome you and are happy to receive feedback in person. My most recent experience I had a spicy beef curry, id not eaten red meats for a few weeks so my stomach was struggling but it tasted absolutely gorgeous and I took what I couldn't finish in house home with me.

Had a delicious meal here last night. Excellent service, even though it was very busy with a birthday party going on. I recommend the homemade pie and my husband's omelette was very good too. There was even a treat for our dog. We've been before and we'll be back.

We had a lovely Sunday lunch there for my mother in law's birthday. Food was excellent and it was great to catch up with family in such a nice welcoming pub. Will definitely book again soon. We'll worth a visit.

Had family Sunday lunch. A really wonderful meal.

We had an evening meal here. My wife had fish and chips which was quite good. I had the sirloin steak which unfortunately was probably the worst steak I have ever eaten. The beer was good, the landlady was nice but my advice to this pub is buy better quality steaks from a different supplier

Really fresh and home cooked food. Really enjoyed it, we were in a rush so will be going back when there is more time. I definitely want to try the raspberry ribble cheese cake! I didn't realise but there a nice garden here as well. It is nice and bright inside where we sat with a good feel to it.

Stopped here for some lunch. It was quiet when we arrived, a Saturday. The car park is at the back and there's enough spaces for 11 cars if parked properly. The food was delicious. They serve all sorts of spirits, as well as lagers and I could see 3 cask beers. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. There's plenty of tables inside but also lots outside, the garden is beautiful. I highly recommend this pub and we'll be visiting again as soon as possible.

Beautiful mother's day lunch. With a lovely friendly man who looked after us.

We were stuck in traffic on the A36 yesterday and saw in the distance a building with a white horse on the side of it. Quickly googled an rang them all in the time we got to the next turning to get to it 🙂. What a little gem of a place. Very welcoming beautifully decorated, great customer service and fantastic food!!! So lovely I think everytime we drive that way now we shall want to go in!! Brilliant. Called in for Sunday lunch the landlady was very accommodating although we never booked she found a table for the 3 of us Sunday lunch was very nice large portions for a very fair price 😀

Went with family and was really impressed. Proper pub with very good food. Lovely and friendly - three people said hello between the car and bar and the woman taking our orders was particularly welcoming and helpful. Will definitely be going back.

Family meal for 6 adults and 6 children was a great success due to the welcoming greeting, the swift delivery of delicious, piping hot food and the very efficient waiting staff. We will certainly be returning to try more from the appetizing menu.

Very welcoming even when we turned up unexpectedly and they where busy with a large table celebrating Xmas. The food was lovely. I'm glutton free and the GF sticky toffee pudding was home made and Delicious best I've ever tasted.

All seven of us enjoyed our lunch here especially the seniors who could have two courses for £10. Great value and a good selection of pies. Service was a bit hit and miss. We asked three times for some water to accompany the wine. Waiter seemed stressed and muttering “ for f***s sake “ when the card machine jammed summed up his day! All in all we enjoyed our lunch and recommend it.

Really impressed by the Thursday Steak Night offer. Our steaks were tasty and really well cooked and the bottle of red wine served with the “deal” went down very nicely. Thank you to Karen, Jayne and the team.

We revisited this pub for lunch after many years during which time it has undergone several changes of management. We were delighted to find a good country pub with good pub food and nothing pretentious about the menu. Food was well-cooked and portions generous especially the desserts. They seem to have just two real ales availble. Clean and tidy with very friendly staff who made us feel welcome. We will return.

We visited as a family in September 2021. We are spread about so needed to find a pub in a convenient place for all of us, so chose this one. However, we would not use this pub again.The food was averagr but the service was poor. The young lad who served us was lovely but the older lady behind the bar was incredibly rude. Mask-wearing in the UK has been a personal choice since July. We eat out most weekends and have not been somewhere to eat where masks are mandated. There was a sign up saying masks were mandatory when we came in, and so we all obliged and our on masks. However, mid-meal, I nipped to the toilet (approx 5 steps from our table, passing no other tables), and forgot to pop my mask on. As I came out of the toilet, I was accosted by the manager or landlady (older lady) asking I put on a mask. I apologised and said I forgot, didn’t have my bag on me and I was just nipping back to the table now, and I thought that was the end of it.Then when she came to take our coffee order, she mentioned it again. It came across rude and judgemental, especially as it was just an honest mistake. I felt like a child being ticked off by a teacher, not the kind of environment you want to be in when you’re eating. I explained I’d tested this morning and was negative and that I’ve been double vaccinated. She huffed and said “that’s not the point” (then what is? Is it a dress code for the place?)… She then gave me the cold shoulder after that, waiting until I’d walked past to thank the group for coming when we walked out (all wearing our masks!)… petty and poor service. However, for a place so concerned with “health and safety”, then then served us biscuits that were 14 months out of date! I suggest this pub practice what they preach when it comes to following regulations. I’m not a complainer, nor a sceptic when it comes to Covid, but to be treated like a child when eating out. Mentioning it the first time was fair enough if it is a pub policy, but to continue to bring it up is exceptionally rude. The food was fine for the cheap prices, but the fact that there were only 3 tables (including us) on a Sunday lunch time says a lot. Sadly the service ruined it for us and we would not come again.

Went to the White Horse in Quidhampton for my Dad’s Birthday. The pub was glorious & the food was INCREDIBLE!! Glad to know it’s made from scratch unlike other pubs visited. I had the Beef Stroganoff & it was perfect!! Lovely to meet the new Head Chef Daniel & also the landlady Karen plus the young gentleman who served us, will 100% be returning soon. Thank you x

Had a great Sunday lunch (roast beef and all the trimmings) and another of the party had the scampi. The Lemon Roulade pudding is also highly recommended. Would definitely recommend and will be returning the next time we are in the area.

The White Horse has an extensive menu packed with pub favourites. My pie of the day came with a very large number of vegetables and there was enough to feed the hungriest mouth. Only just managed to fit in the tasty brioch bread pudding and custard !

I tried the homemade trout fishcakes with salad and new potatoes followed by bread and butter pudding. Portions were generous and the bread and butter pudding was absolute heaven, served with custard of course.

Lovely pub outside the city centre of Salisbury. Onsite parking was super easy. Had a big tent outside with tables and heaters. Lots of tables and chairs. Sunday lunch was great and a good selection of beers. Service very friendly. Happily return to this place. About £100 for 4 with entree, mains, desert and a drink. At the end of the meal there were 4 empty plates and happy faces.

Brought my mum out for dinner this evening and we couldn't have had a better evening! Our welcome was warm, the staff were super friendly and accommodating and the food was absolutely delicious!! A great deal of thought has gone into making the White Horse fully COVID compliant. Well done. The ambiance and the welcome are exactly what one hopes for in a well run establishment. The food and service are both first class.If anyone is nervous about eating out in the current situation this is the place to go.Feel safe and enjoy it.

Visited for my partners sisters birthday. It was easy to find with a car park to the rear. As soon as we entered we were given a warm welcome and shown to our table. The area is well spaced in line with social distancing and has good procedures with hand sanitizer and a one way system in place (added umbrellas for the walk outside if required are a bonus!). The staff were on it from the start and we were made to feel very welcome! The roast was delicious with a good amount of veg, roasties and meat! The sticky toffee pudding with custard was lovely and made it feel like a home cooked meal! All in all a lovely meal with great service! Would definitely visit again!

It was a Facebook post forwarded by a friend (promising bottomless gravy and sticky toffee pudding) which drew me to book the White Horse for Sunday lunch with my sister and her partner (a gravy addict...). We weren’t disappointed! Both those things were excellent, as were the fantastic Sunday roasts, with a wonderful range of vegetables. The berry cheesecake was also gorgeous - best one I’ve had for a long time. Service was spot-on - attentive and kind. It all felt very safe, with plenty of space, hand sanitiser everywhere, and a one-way system, but the regulations didn’t feel overbearing or spoil the atmosphere. All in all, a great place to enjoy a fantastic lunch, just a short drive out of town.

I met here for dinner with my boss. It was our first visit and chosen due to the reviews and boy we were not disappointed. Firstly the COVID precautions were just as they should be, so we felt very safe in the environment. The menu was good, but was trumped by the specials board, you can’t choose anything else when home made “Game Pie” is on the menu and what a fantastic “Game Pie” it was too, as were our starters and puddings. The service was top notch and all in all we had a lovely evening and are both looking forward to visiting again soon.

I don't normally take the time to write reviews but we had such a lovely time at the White Horse yesterday, I thought I should share this with others. Both service and food were excellent and the two ladies serving were friendly, helpful and attentive (nothing was too much trouble). It is currently a struggle for me to find food I can tolerate (am new to a low salicylate diet) and they navigated me through the menu making a few tweaks which allowed me to have the best meal yet on this diet. Both hubby and I had the traditional Sunday lunch which was cooked to perfection with a wide range of veg (two of which I could have, along with yummy roast potatoes). They have good Covid protection in operation (a one way system in and out of the building) and in summary there was nothing not to like. Our only regret is that we are not local to the area so won't be able to go back as much as we'd like. Well done "The White Horse"!

Amazing celebration cheesecake! Everyone loved it. Zoe was helpful in helping in getting it to us. Definitely not 'just' a pub, but one that does great food, service and celebration cheesecake 😀
